With the spring thaw in full effect, it's hard not to get excited about the warmer weather. Reminiscing about the times that we can spend back out on the banks of the river or on the bow of a skiff casting away and waiting for something to bite. No matter the style of fishing you prefer, it's hard not to appreciate the art of fly fishing. It is said that success lies when the practice meets patience, the same is true when comes to fly fishing and even more so when you start a fly fishing company. Today, we tune into Salt Lake City, Utah, and chat with Adam Hudson, the founder of Blue Line co., and how he went from selling cars and hedgehogs to creating a fly company that has taken the internet by storm.

Leaving his home state of Virginia, Kurt Tobias and his wife moved down to Florida’s Emerald Coast, pursuing what he thought would be a dream job. Late nights and early mornings after work and in-between training sessions, Kurt slowly built Choona before flipping the bird to corporate life and chasing the waterways less navigated. He set out to create a brand that puts purpose before process and yet, despite all common practice, creates some of the most comfortable “out leisure” (athleisure, but outdoors) on the market. Choona isn't just slapping logos on Tees, but reinventing coastal apparel and giving back to the community along the way. Not only is the majority of the apparel made right here in the USA, but every stitch is ethically sourced with sustainable materials. If you weren't already excited to meet Kurt, with every garment sold, Choona donates 5 meals to an orphanage in Nicaragua. That and much more on this episode of Along the Keel. What happens when four Texans break every outdoor speaker on the market. Well, today I had the pleasure of speaking with one of the co-founders, John McKenzie about how Turtle Box came to be. Given that these friends loved a rugged adventure in the Texas backcountry or sail on Galveston Bay a speaker was always in tow. So, taking to the drawing board and a few renditions later the bachelors and now family men created the most durable, indestructible, and for lack of a better term badass speaker on the market. This thing is built for any adventure and the sound quality is no joke either. Whether you want a rock concert at the sandbar or some folk music around a campfire the Turtle Box can deliver. If you're someone that likes to water ski, wakeboard, paddleboard, and want to expand your experience on the water than a Manta Rack might just be the next purchase for your boat. I was fortunate to be joined by Brian Guadagno and his furry sidekick Doc, during the first-ever live episode of the podcast. Heading down to Narragansett Beach in beautiful Rhode Island, Brian and I sat and discussed the origins of the Waterman Eco-Challenge, an event inspired by his passion for surfing, paddling, and the waterman community. The event takes place annually and brings people from around the United States to one of Rhode Island’s most iconic beaches. It’s designed to challenge the most veteran paddlers, but also give those interested in the waterman community an opportunity to join in the fun. Best of all, every entry is a donation to the Janice ‘Mama C’ Causey Memorial Art Scholarship, that awards college-bound Narragansett High School students with scholarships towards their next endeavor. After a long day tediously washing a yacht, David was for lack of a better word, "toasted". The heavy, scratch inducing, wash pole that we have all become accustomed to was cumbersome and outdated. So with a hack saw, some duck-tape, and prayer David cut into his expensive carbon fiber SUP paddle and fashioned it to the head of a brush.
