In this weekly podcast two Fangirls take on the Marvel Cinematic Universe and everything else superhero, fantasy and sci-fi. Join them for the ride as they navigate the MCU, discuss fandom life, and rant about everything in between.
Had to mark this episode explicit because we're really mad about the way companies are treating their workers. We fully support the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike, and we talk about why what they're asking for is reasonable, deserved, and AI is the worst.
We are not scabs, and in solidarity with the unions Earth's Mightiest Fangirls will not be discussing any content from the struck companies under the AMPTP (American Motion Picture and Television Producers) until a fair contract is reached. This includes our bread and butter, Marvel (aka, Disney) so we're on hiatus until we can think of some random topic to talk about or people send us indie recommendations that fit out vibes-- no seriously, we'd love that.

Owning things, collecting the DVDs, CDs, books, vinyl, etc for yourself has lost its value in the rise of streaming. And that's bad for the creators and the audience. What are you going to do your music gets pulled off Spotify? Or, say, the company decides to delete an entire movie--finished and everything!--with no warning to any of the cast and crew. There's value in owning things you enjoy, and we need to bring it back.

Hot off the presses, in our most immediate post-movie episode yet, it's Thor: Love and Thunder! And it's sooo.... okay. It's good! It's fun, it's enjoyable, it's a sequel. But did we love it? Well, no. The characterization is a bit of a step back for our main guy, because it just always comes back to that hammer. The rest of it, once you get into the movie, is a good time. How to even begin describing this movie? It's epic, and beautiful, and out of this world. It represents a whole spectrum of people as superheroes in the MCU. It's also...all over the place, full of exposition, and doesn't space things out very well. You just have to see it, that's all we can say.
The Eternals promised so much, maybe too much. And while it delivered on visuals, it was definitely overly ambitious, and some of the characters lacked for it. But it's still a good movie! It's hard to explain, so you have to see it for yourself.

The thing people don’t get about Ghost Rider is that yes: it’s wildly bad. Yes: it’s terrible. And yes: it’s difficult to understand the point and the actors are stiff. BUT the story? Also not good.

Gatekeeping: telling people they're not real fans, that they don't know enough, that they can't enjoy what they enjoy. It's annoying and most importantly: it doesn't matter. Liking a thing doesn't make you special, just like and share the thing!
MCU gatekeeping usually involves the comics vs. the MCU, how many movies you've seen, or even little details like seeing movies the exact minute it comes out. All of it is nonsense because nothing can change how you enjoy media.

Sabrina found an article from Syfy Wire lamenting how the loss of the different MCU TV shows will be felt across the fandom. And we agree :( The shows brought more inclusion to casts, different stories, characters from Marvel fringes, and just pure good TV that Disney+ will lack. Fun times!

Alright, let's start at the beginning: This movie is Spider-man: Into the Spider-verse. It's made by Sony Animation and came out in 2018. And it was a good movie. The animation is one of the biggest parts of why it was amazing, but really it's the genuine feel of the story and characters, all the charm of the neighborhood Spider-Man we've been missing. There's also five other Spider-people (including Nicolas Cage and John Mulaney!), Mahershala Ali, a banger soundtrack, and just––fun.

This is it, really this time. There was so much to talk about in Endgame we had to split it into two parts. This is just the final fight scene. Buckle up, we're in for a ride. We pick up from the initial explosion, Rhodie and Rocket traped underground, and the most important part: Cap, Iron Man, and Thor's fight with Thanos. But didn't it seem like he was way too strong? There's also a lively round of Pass the Peter, and Sabrina explains why that women's scene was ultimately unearned. From there it's time, and we talk about Tony's death...for the third time. There's also our theories on time travel, some behind the scenes facts from the screen writers (the first draft started in 2015!) and how the end credit scenes was oddly similar to another massive franchise.

Okay here we go. Endgame! This episode will cover this first two thirds of the film. Too much happens in this movie to cover in just one episode. We get into theories and things we loved and hated and thought were totally awesome. There are no tears in this episode, but maybe watch out for Part 2 next week, there may be tears then.
We get really deep in the opening scene, Tony Stark's breakdown, his budding relationship with Nebula, broken relationship with Cap, and the pure love and joy of Tony and Pepper. Also we discuss, what if Cassie got dusted? How would Ant-Man react to finding out his daughter was "dead" and would that have gotten Tony to help faster?
Don't forget about the Time Heist! It was ridiculous and awesome and we loved it and hated it! If you want to know why, you're going to have to listen!

We're finally here! It's time for the captain, the original Avenger, the one we've been waiting for: Captain Marvel. We love Carol Danvers, and you should too. She's great, end of story. No matter what fanboys who have nothing better to do than hate on the show, or weird reviewers in the New Yorker, or Rotten Tomatoes scores says, "Captain Marvel" was a good movie. And most importantly, Captain Marvel doesn't need to prove anything.
In this episode Sabrina recaps The Punisher season 2 for Lily becasue as we all know she gets a pass for the extra gore and guts and blood. A lot is happening in this season and overall it's a solid end to a really good series. While we will forever miss #Kastle the show did it's very best to create a last season of a really good show.

This episode is all about Iron Fist season 3. We thought we would hate it but wow were we surprised!! Our girl Colleen comes out on top and dammnit Disney why did you cancel all of the Defenders shows?
Anyway we still have a lot of negatives, but honestly, this one's an overall more positive outlook on Iron Fist than our Season 1 episode because they just did it better this time around.
We also have a cool conversation about Dissociative Identity Disorder because of the new character(s) Mary Walker! For once a character with a mental illness where they're not a serial killer or the bad guy!

Ant Man is back, but no one cares because the Wasp finally makes her debut! Other than that, it's a predictable, safe movie. Not much shines, but at least we get Hope in a suit. We also get a Sabrina summary, ala Luiz.

SPOILER ALERT! In this episode, Lily and Sabrina reminisce about old times, when they used to record in Boston - in Sabrina's hot a slightly noisy apartment - and the challenges of recording internationally. The also talk about episodes they wish they could redo, specifically Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 and Captain America: Civil War. Guardians was a mess and for Civil War Sabrina was the mess. Think of this episode as partly a Captain America Civil War Part II. We don't hate Civil War we just wish there was more follow through with the big questions being posed! Why isn't Bucky being brought in? Steve! Calm down! Bucky needs to be brought in!
Lily and Sabrina also get into the nitty-gritty, and how the friendships in the Marvel Cinematic Universe are often superficial and any relationship we see is something the fans put into the characters and not what the filmmakers give us.
There is a conversation about how the MCU could have been a lot more interwoven with each other. Making references that showed character interaction without actually bringing in the actors. Simple things they wish were a littler different within the MCU.
Lily and Sabrina talk about the many pitfalls of the MCU including the lack of women in the films as main character of their own movie. It's rant time to buckle up and get ready for the thinly veiled anger.
Lastly, they talk about post Endgame, what's happening post Endgame, what will MCU films post Endgame look like, how will filmmakers deal with the snap, unsnap situation.

Luke Cage is back! But it's a mixed review on Season 2. The characters are definitely the best part of the show, and the plot you just go with. We also talk Clare, how Misty is the best part of the season, and Mariah is stone cold...but honest. Sweet Christmas.

This week we're talking about Daredevil Season 3, uh, I mean The Defenders! All our fave Marvel Netflix shows come together for the first, last, and only time to create an awesome, fun, and interesting show. Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Daredevil, and - ugh - Iron Fist are all in the same room together! The Defenders continues a story started in Daredevil season 2 and brought up again in Iron Fist and it finally puts the hand to bed. There's a lot going on in this episode, we love seeing everyone interact, because crossovers our definitely something we LOVE, but we also love to hate the worst person in this show who is, you guessed it, Danny Rand.

In this episode Lily and Sabrina talk about the fourth season of Marvel's Agents of SHIELD. In this season we get introduced to Ghost Rider and we see 80s films come to life for the team as Fitz and Radcliffe's creation, AIDA, starts to become a reAL GIRL. Clearly no one listens to Mack or YoYo. As usual the season is full of fun and total and complete heartbreak. We’re wrapping up Phase 2 of the MCU with Ant Man! It’s a bit of a shorter episode, but that’s because there wasn’t that much to say about this movie. It’s okay. That about covers it. All we wish was that Hope was in the suit, but there’s a sequel for that.
Jones, Jessica Jones. She’s a hard-drinking, short-fused, mess of a woman–– and we love her. One of the best shows in the MCU for its depth, strong women who do more than punch people (but there is a lot of that too), and scary realistic villain.

The first season of Agent Carter does not get enough recognition. Peggy Carter deserved more and Hayley Atwell deserves everything.
