In what's set to be a tense night at Turner's Cross, Derry City travel south for their crucial final fixture of the Irish Premier Division against Cork City this Saturday. With Cork already relegated, the stakes may seem lower for the hosts, but for Derry and manager Tiernan Lynch, full intensity is demanded as second place—and a coveted Europa League spot—hangs in the balance.
Speaking to Patrick Cooke ahead of the match, Lynch was clear: “It’s within our control, and it would be a real disappointment if we let it slip now due to a lack of focus or concentration. That’s something we won’t tolerate. We don't shy away from the challenge; our goal is to finish second. Regardless of any extra European opportunities, our priority is to secure that second spot.”
Derry arrive unbeaten in their last nine league games, with three consecutive wins and a stirring 2-1 victory recently over champions Shamrock Rovers. The Candystripes hold a two-point advantage over third-placed Shelbourne and know nothing less than total commitment will suffice.

Derry City FC formally launched its new partnership with St Joseph’s Boys’ School on Monday evening at a well attended event held at the Creggan college.
Backed by the Steven Gerrard Academy (SGA), the launch was attended by Derry City FC management and players as well as parents and students currently enrolled.
School Principal Mrs Ciara Deane was joined by teaching colleagues and School Board members as well as the Bishop of Derry, Donal McKeown.
Speakers at the function included Principal Deane and Danny Harrison from SGA both of whom explained the importance of education and training for a wide array of opportunities both inside football and beyond.
Derry City FC Technical Director Mark McChrystal will lead the new partnership in tandem with both the college and the Gerrard Academy and applications are now open for consideration.

Derry City continued their impressive form in the Irish Premier Division with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Waterford FC at the Regional Sports Centre on Friday evening. The solitary goal came from a bizarre own goal by Waterford goalkeeper Louis Jones, who spilled a routine header from Ben Doherty over his own line.
The win moves Derry City back to the top of the league table, albeit on goal difference having played a game more than Shelbourne.
Derry City's tenacity proved to be the difference.
Key moments from the match:
* Own goal seals the deal: In the 25th minute, Ben Doherty's header towards goal was spilled into the net by Waterford's goalkeeper, giving Derry City a crucial lead.

Derry City unveiled there latest signing this afternoon, Andre Wisdom until the end of the season. He is an English professional footballer who made a name for himself as a versatile defender has spent significant portions of his career at Liverpool and Derby County.
Wisdom joined Liverpool's youth system and progressed through the ranks. He made his senior debut for Liverpool in 2012, showcasing his potential. In 2017, Wisdom moved to Derby County on a permanent basis, becoming a key player for the Championship side playing an impressive 145 games. He was also on loan to Norwich ( 11 games, West Brom 17 games and Red Bull Salzburg 15 games.
Known for his ability to play both as a right-back and a centre-back, Wisdom's versatility will come in useful at Derry.

Brian Maher could not hide his disappointment with the Derry City loss to Sligo. Accepting that they did not play to the levels expected of them but was shocked that a penalty wasn't given after Sligo's GK Brush brought down Cian Kavanagh and also strongly believes that Sligo's goal was a handball.

After a change of date for this fixture due to technical problems at the RSC Waterford. Derry are playing the game a day later at 6:15pm ( Live on Drive105) . The Derry manager will not be looking for excuses but 3 points on Tuesday night.
Derry City's under-19's will entertain Bohemians at the Brandywell on Wednesday night in the final of this year's Enda McGuill Cup (KO 7.45pm). It has been an excellent season so far for the young Candystripes who will be hoping for the backing of a big local support as they attempt to win the trophy for the first time in 14 years.
Manager Boyle insisted the players and staff were really looking forward to the occasion. "It's something for us to relish and it would be nice to lift a bit of silverware at the end of a great season. We have lost twice and drawn once so far this year, winning all our other matches, so it would be a fitting way to mark our success."

Derry City have signed midfielder Conor Clifford, who played in midfield for St Patrick's Athletic for the last 2 seasons. He is a former Republic of Ireland youth international and has represented them at under-17, under-19, and under-21 level and is a former Chelsea youth team Captain.

Derry City have signed former Chelsea youth player 24 year old Walter Figueira, who was with Waterford FC from July last season. Figueira scored 2 goals at the Bandywell in the League Cup Q/F resulting in a 4-2 win for the Candystripes.
The English-born striker joined Chelsea in 2010 after impressing at Hampton & Richmond Borough, but injury stopped his progress after good showings for the U18s and U21s until 2013. After spells in England, Portugal and Greece Figueira , the 24-year-old joined Waterford for the second half of the season. Figueira spent the 2018/19 season with Merstham FC, scoring 16 league goals.

John was one of the original staff members of St Joseph’s Boys School in Creggan when it opened its doors for the first time in 1963, spending his entire career over more than 30 years at the school & was a well respected figure in the City, and raised the bar when it came to match commentary in the late 1980's first with Online Video, until retired from broadcasting in the mid 2000's with Drive105.

With so many changes made to the Derry City team for tonight's League Cup game against Longford, Declan Devine was delighted about the result and progression into the Quarter Finals.
As Declan Devine prepares his playing staff for the visit of Longford on Tuesday night in the League Cup. He is giving players who have not had a regular run out in the 1st team, a chance to stake a claim for the Finn Harps fixture on Friday and beyond. Gerardo Bruna, Gianni Seraf, Nathan Gartside and Jamie McDonagh who will be coming back from suspension will all feature in tomorrow nights game. Whilst some 1st team regulars will be rested.
That said Declan Devine believes it will be a tough game and will be giving Neal Fenn's Longford team respect.

Derry City have a number of personnel concerns ahead of their trip to Dalymount Park this Friday night with up to four players on the 'missing or doubtful' list for the game against high-flying Bohemians.
Declan Devine will be without Patrick McClean for the match through injury while Jamie McDonagh is in the middle of an extended ban having been sent off in City's sole defeat so far at Shamrock Rovers.
While accepting that his player deserved that red card, the Derry Manager said he was "at a complete loss to understand the extent of the winger's retrospective suspension."
On top of that however, Devine was also coming to terms with the fact that Michael McCrudden is out of the reckoning for anything up to 3 months having broken a metatarsal during training on Wednesday.
"I'm gutted for Michael because we felt he was really starting to make his presence felt. He has been fantastic in training and gives us such good options in games, so it's a real blow."
"That said, there's now an opportunity for players to come in and show what they can do. We have quality in our squad and I'm fortunate to be able to bring in guys that I know are up to the task."
"It will be a tough game. Bohs ended last season as one of the form teams and have carried that with them this season. Keith (Long) has done some really good business in the close season and they like to play the right way. It could be a decent match."
Friday night's clash may well see Eoghan Stokes and Aaron Barry line up against their respective former team-mates as both clubs look to build on decent starts to the campaign.
Declan Devine is under no illusion that Derry's trip to Cork will be a difficult one this Friday. Previous results have not been good for the Candystripes, but they hope to turn this run of defeats around. Its also a return for Barry McNamee to his former team from last season.

Such is the squad that Declan Devine has built for this season, he would have had enough players to fill any position in the team. As an added bonus Delap and Cole are now in contention for a place tomorrow night after being omitted fro Friday nights squad for personal and injury problems.

Derry City completed the signing if Gerardo Bruna today at the City Hotel. Gerardo a former, Real Madrid Youth player, has also had time at Liverpool, Blackpool, Tranmere Rovers, accrington Stanley and lately in Canada with Ottawa Fury.
Born in Argentina and raised in Spain, Bruna first represented Spain at a youth international level, before switching to represent his native Argentina.

Derry City announced this afternoon that Defender Josh Kerr has joined the club on a 6 month Loan deal
Josh joined Brighton & Hove Albion from Celtic on a two-year contract during the summer of 2017. The 19-year-old left Glasgow after spending five years with the Scottish Premier League champions. During his time with the Hoops, Kerr won the SFA Youth Cup, beating Rangers 3-0 in the final, and also played in the UEFA Youth League, where he came up against Barcelona and Manchester City. Kerr has since made numerous appearances for Simon Rusk's team and helped the Seagulls win promotion to the top flight of under-23 football in 2018.

Declan Devine took a few minutes out of a hectic press conference to talk to Match Night Live's Patrick Cooke. Declan was enthuiastic about the future of the club, and we hear about his plans including signing players, keeping playing staff, working with the local football clubs and his excitement at working with his backroom team, including, Kevin Deery (Asst Manager), Marty McCann (Coach) and Paddy McCourt, head of youth development.
Paddy McCourt (u-13 manager) and Mo Mahon (coach) invited their 19-strong squad and parents to an induction meeting at the Everglades Hotel on Tuesday evening.
The boys were all measured up for training and playing gear while the parents were given a presentation by the former Derry City and Celtic player.
Club Director Joe Doherty overseen the event where refreshments were provided to players and parents.
It seems Derry's new Youth Manager is intent on bringing a high level of professionalism to the role and it was clearly an occasion that met with the approval of all.

What a night it was at the Brandywell. With that Cup feeling, Derry City where up for this game from the start but they had to wait until the 80th minute for Aidy Delap to get his 1st and winning goal for the candystripes. It could have came unravelled though as St Pats where awarded a penalty in the 94th minute only for birthday boy Gerard Doherty to save with his right foot. Derry will now be in the draw for the Q/Finals on Monday night.

Kenny Shiels has unveiled Scottish defender Kevin McHattie as his fifth signing of the summer as the Candystripes gear up for a busy final third of the season. The 25-year old was with Raith Rovers last season having earlier played for Dunfermline, Kilmarnock and Hearts, where he won a Scottish Championship medal in 2015. McHattie is a natural left back, which is an area in which the team needed cover after Jack Doyle returned to Blackburn Rovers in June, but he said he was equally comfortable elsewhere. "That's my regular position but I'm just as happy in the centre of defence or on the left side of midfield so it will be a case of wherever I'm needed." The player admitted he knew little about his new club until recently but that he was looking forward to getting started. "I didn't know a lot other than what Ally (Roy) had told me, but I'm really looking forward to the challenge. The boss has told me we have a hectic schedule coming up with three matches in the space of a week, but that's good because I'm raring to go." Kenny Shiels is hoping McHattie goes straight into the squad for Friday night's game at home to Sligo Rovers.

Danny Seaborne was unveiled today as the 3rd player to join the Candystripes in the last week. MNL's Patrick Cooke caught up with the player shortly after signing with the club.
Seaborne began his professional career at Exeter City, having risen through the club's youth system; he signed his professional contract in May 2005. Seaborne had numerous loan spells during his time at Exeter, including moves to Clyst Rovers, Tiverton Town and Dorchester Town. In January 2010, Seaborne signed a three and a half-year contract with Southampton. Having made 44 appearances for the club, Seaborne was released by the Premier League side in June 2013. Following his release, Seaborne spent time at clubs including Bournemouth, Yeovil Town and Coventry City. In August 2014, Seaborne signed for Scottish Premiership side Partick Thistle on a two-year contract. He joined Hamilton Academicals in 2016 but was released the following year. After six months without a club, he rejoined Exeter City in December 2017.

Debutant Ben Fisk was a positive from Friday nights defeat in Tallaght, As the Canadian showed he can play on both sides. Fisk who played 85 mins in his 1st fixture in the League looked sharp and showed signs of what he will bring to Derry City as he gets to grips with playing in the Airtricity League.

It started so well last night at Richmond Park, with goals from Rory Patterson (6m) & Darren Cole (17m) even though those goals where separated by a Jake Keegan goal on 7 mins it was a positive start to the game for Kenny Shiels charges. A harsh call from Referee Ben Connolly for a penalty minutes before half time gave St Pats the momentum going in at the break and this continued in the 2nd half which resulted in a 5-2 win for the Inchicore club. A disappointed Bohemians manager, Keith Long believed that Derry City were there for the taking before last night game. He also thought that the team didn't believe in themselves and didn't play on the night and that a days less rest than his opponents played a part in the defeat.
Derry City came away from Dalymount with there first three points of the season after Ronan Curtis put them ahead after 60 min. Bohemians had a chance to draw level soon after when McDermott was deemed to have fouled Devenney inside the penalty area. Gerard Doherty saved the resulting penalty from Stokes.
