“Take Heart”
Philippines 1:6
Steven Kim
Life bring a litany of experiences. Some of these experiences are beautiful, and we cherish those memories. But some are painful, hurtful, and leave scars on our hearts. One can’t help but wonder, what is it all for? Many of us may be tempted to think that some of these experiences were pointless and without purpose, it can leave us feeling hopeless. But take heart, for God’s Word tells us that a good work is being done, and not only is a good work being done, but it is made complete in Christ.

“Freedom and the Heart Condition Part 2”
Galatians 6:11-18
Steven Kim
How do we conclude this exploration of freedom? What do we take all that we have been learning and apply it to our lives? Paul presents a simple, effective, and yet deep solution - to boast, to boast in Christ alone. We are all boasting in something, using something to hide who we really hide, like a shield to protect us from the world. The problem is, the thing that we boast in, they are dirty rags filed with holes. But boasting in Christ is a shield and it is the key to living in true freedom

“Freedom and the Heart Condition Part 1”
Galatians 5:26-6:10
Steven Kim
In this final chapter Paul addresses two critical issues. One is a behavioral issue and one is an identity issue and Paul brings both of them together and through this, we see how the gospel of grace addresses both and brings unity. Unity within and around a believer.

Galatians 5:19-26
Steven Kim
If there is a battle within us, between flesh and Spirit, how are we supposed to live? How do we put to death the acts of the flesh? Paul gives us a clear answer, crucifixion.

“The War Inside”
Galatians 5:13-18
Steven Kim
We have been set free by Christ, but what do we do with that? We have the license for freedom, but what do we with that liberty? This is the place many of us get stuck because there are two warring fractions within us. The heart that desires to live out this freedom for Christ but there is also the heart that desires self-gratification. This is the war inside and it can seem rather hopeless, until we look at the Cross. For on the Cross, we see how the war has been won.

“Freedom Run”
Galatians 5:6-12
Steven Kim
Whether you realize it or not, you are a runner. Maybe not physically, but mentally, emotionally, and definitely spiritually. But why do you run? If you run in an attempt to achieve, what happens when you fall down? When you run out of a fear, what happens when you stumble? Neither of these are good outcomes for us. The Gospel calls us to run, but not out of fear, but rather out of faith. Have you been on the sidelines for too long? Let's come and remember the call of the Gospel, the call that commands us to run"

“Driven”
Galatians 5:1-6
Steven Kim
"What drives you? Think about it... Why do you get up in the morning? Why do you go back to sleep at night? Why do you push to get all your assignments done or why do you attempt to take the SAT for the 5th time? Why do you get dressed in the morning and why do you put on a smile and walk out the door? What drives you?
The patterns of this world dictate that we ought to be driven by fear. The fear of a failure, rejection, insufficiency.. the fear of never being enough. But that's not the gospel of grace. The gospel of grace shows us that our motivation, our drive, it doesn't come from fear of rejection, but it comes from the liberating reality that we have been accepted by God because of Jesus Christ. So... what drive you?"

The call of Abraham is a reminder for us to respond to the call of God in faith. Faith that is greater than our idols, fears, and conveniences. Each believer is met with such a call, and it serves as a reminder that we are all called to return to the presence of God.

The Church is built not on similar interest, compatibility, race, or culture but on the truth of Jesus Christ. It is this truth that is the framework for both our identity and our purpose
