In today's episode, I have a conversation (and semi-interview) with a friend from grad school - Lane Fortenberry! He's been my movie talk buddy for a few years now, so I decided to finally use our friendship to my own advantage and have him on the pod.

We discuss our love of cinema, best/worst movies of 2022, and his own personal journey into filmmaking! And of course I get his award season opinions :)

We recorded mid-January before Oscar nom announcements

Some audio cut out with us talking about Best Supporting Actress - which is why we were giggling about Ms. Jaime Lee Curtis

In today's episode, I do one of my favorite things... complain about the Academy! You know the one. In charge of the Academy Awards/Oscars. Every year it gets messier and messier, and I absolutely live for the drama.

We also play a new game I just made up for the podcast, completely 100% my idea and no one else's - Smash or Pass: Movie Edition!

Outro song: "No Time to Die" - Billie Eilish (Best Original Song Academy Award nominee)

Welcome back. As you can tell by the title, I have a bone to pick with the (for now) Governor of Texas.

Greg Abbott is going after the trans youth of Texas and their families. It's another tale of ignorance, hubris, self-preservation, and politically-motivated opinions that only serve to persecute/harm marginalized communities. Let's get into the absolute tomfoolery!

Outro song: Civil War by Peppermint (Drag Queen & trans icon)

Told you this episode would be more fun!

The Academy Awards/Oscars recently announced nominations for the year of our Lord and savior, 2022. So of course, I got together the other three people I know are just as obsessed with awards season as I am for a second year in a row!

My dear friends, Joy Puder, Austin Heath, and Ethan Beach are here to discuss who we think will take home those coveted golden statues, who was snubbed, and who... definitely pulled some favors to get their nominations. Hope you enjoy the episode as much as we did recording it! :)

End credit song: "Be Alive" - Beyonce
