In contrast to other major religions of the world—all of which are works-based, soteriological systems—it follows that without the resurrection an individual remains in his or her sin, unacceptable to a holy, righteous God.
This week I want to concentrate on this biblical understanding of faith— which Scripture refers to as the faith. Specifically, I want to examine the biblical passages that relate to the faith and the fact that believers have been entrusted as His ambassadors with the faith.

Every culture and government throughout history has faced the issue of racism and unjust resentment toward others who are different. Racism is characteristic and evident of the sinful nature of man. Fallen mankind has always built barriers and ostracized others. This exclusion stems from pride: a fallen man’s predilection to believe he or she is superior to another in some way. In this regard, racism parades around with his ugly brother who goes by the name arrogance. At its core, racism is a heart issue—a dilemma with no solution apart from Christ’s regenerative work in a person’s heart.
In fact, the Bible’s test for the veracity of genuine faith is the absence of racism. John 13:35 says, “By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” Jesus’ command here stems beyond loving our own kind.
This week let us examine some biblical insights regarding racism.

This week I would like to investigate what God says about spanking a child. We will study what the book of Proverbs, as well as the whole of Scripture, teaches about this increasingly controversial subject.
It is important for public servants to know the mind of God on this matter, lest they legislate from naïveté, void of God’s wisdom in this regard.
Given the depraved nature of man, for the institution of the State to prohibit the institution of the family from carrying out its God ordained responsibility of disciplining a citizen in his or her youth, is to sow the seeds of cultural discord for tomorrow.

Nearly every public servant who has his or her ear to the ground knows that the Bible enjoins individuals and nations to bless Israel. In Genesis 12:3 God states in His promise to Abraham (Israel’s patriarch), “I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curses you I will curse.…”
Not all, however, who follow Christ are pro-Israel. Within Evangelicalism there is a camp who hold to what I explained and defined in Part 1 as “Replacement Theology.” The other more sophisticated theological name is “Supersessionism.”
These adherents believe the Church supersedes Israel; they embrace what then amounts to a contextually descriptive title, “Replacement Theology.” In this study, I will use these terms interchangeably.
By way of review, the Replacement Theology crowd believes God is done with Israel, having replaced her with His Church. The Church then is the new Israel; therefore, the conditional promise (cf. Genesis 12:3) stated above in the Abrahamic Covenant (cf. Genesis 15:18) now applies to the Church.
What does the Bible say about all this? What do you believe? How an American lawmaker reasons this issue from Scripture has huge implications in American foreign policy and as many conclude, whether God will continue to bless America.

Given what’s happening in Israel, I think it is timely to provide this two-part series on Israel—from a Bible teacher’s perspective.
Can you immediately and cogently reason from Scripture why America should be committed to Israel? By way of introduction, I believe that in a reaping and sowing sense America has wonderfully prospered because our cultural foundation stems from all that Israel has historically provided us relative to pertinent scriptural truth. There is no doubt the biblical truths borrowed from historic Israel have provided the cultural moorings for historic America. One might summarily call this our philosophical union with Israel. If for no other reason, we owe Israel our loyalty relative to our debt of gratitude. But there are many more biblically-based reasons that I will proffer in this Bible study.

American elections are way too nasty. Political ads and campaign speeches are filled with attacks, condemnations, criticisms, verbal assaults, unproven accusations, and even false charges that candidates from all major political parties— including incumbents—lob at each other. Our Constitution guarantees us free speech, but that right should never be taken as a license to slander. Like falsely yelling “Fire!” in a crowded theater, slander is not protected free speech.
We now live in a highly loquacious, instantaneous, intractable mediated culture, and a cowboy named Steroidal Slander is on the loose. When the character of another is involved, he’s quick on the draw.
What’s the remedy? For one, someone needs to model a higher standard! And of all people, those who name the name of Christ who hold public office, ought to be the ones who model that higher standard! Christ must make a difference in this area of the life of the believer. Ephesians 4:31 states, Let all … slander be put away from you. This passage is our study for this week; I’m hoping as we better understand what putting away slander means, we can holster our guns. Listen on!

Secular journalists, liberal theologians, and bloggers have recently concocted the term “Christian Nationalist.” With a broad brush they are branding many well-meaning Christians serving in public office with this newly coined pejorative in an attempt to marginalize their influence in the public square.
What is a Christian Nationalist? Is every Evangelical in office a Christian Nationalist? What do the name callers mean when they charge you with this? By painting—increasingly all—public servants who trust in Christ for their salvation as “Christian Nationalists” they hope to cripple your influence, instill fear in the voting populous, silence Christians, eradicate biblical influence, and intimidate believers from even participating in the political process. This is nothing less than yet another attempt to cancel Christians and abolish their biblical worldview from our nation.
Christian Nationalism is a valid term, but the problem is, it summarizes three faulty theological constructs that you need to be aware of and know why they are aberrant. Here then is a newly minted term to describe ages-old really bad theology—theology you don’t want to have anything to do with!
I would like to challenge any Christian who may be attracted to this flawed concept to read this study and learn why Christian Nationalism and the corrupt and unbiblical theology it was based upon should be summarily rejected by true believers.
I promise, this Bible study will unpack all of this for you. It is important to know what all this means and why you should steer clear of it. This stuff is all out in left field.

Without love as the center of your faith, your trajectory in office will be less than it could be otherwise. For you to be influential, your spouse, family members, and colleagues must know in their heart of hearts that, first and foremost, you are a loving person. Paul states in the opening portions of 1 Corinthians 13, without love I am nothing. What then are the defining aspects of love that both you and I need to be continually working on and growing in? The Scriptures tell us to Be strong in the Lord and the strength of His might. In the same passage (Ephesians 6:10–11), we are informed as to what God equates with being strong in the Lord. It is this: You will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. It follows then, that understanding the various schemes of the devil is a consequence of being strong in the Lord. Put another way, if you are not spiritually discerning and understanding of Satan’s ways then you are not very strong in the Lord.

This time is pivotal! Whereas a win can lead to an adrenaline rush absent of rest, personal inventory, and humble reflection, a loss can lead to months, sometimes years, of debilitating depression. I think you will find this study very insightful as to your personal understanding of the present spiritual fabric of our nation and how important it is for the Church to “stay in its lane” and execute the primacy of its calling in order to best effectuate preservation and illumination in our great, but increasingly troubled, nation.
How many pastors in our nation sacrifice their call to evangelism and discipleship on the altar of societal change? It is much more effective in the long run if the pastor is pre-political, building men and women in Christ who then go and lead in the state.

Scripture says, “Faith comes from hearing and hearing by the Word of Christ” (Romans 10:17). Fundamental to making disciples in the political arena is teaching the Word of God. It is the irreducible minimum in effective ministry.
In Part 2, we will examine an exemplar of the fruit of the Church in proper focus, in proper mission. Wilberforce was a recipient of what only the Church can properly manifest in the life of a political leader.
The Church made British lawmaker William Wilberforce who he was through the ministry of the Word.
After he became a Christian he decided to spend legislative recesses studying the Bible. It was common for him to spend 10 hours per day studying and memorizing Scripture. This righteous conviction rooted in biblical doctrine is what sustained and directed Wilberforce during his decades-long battle against slavery.

“What God blesses is His Word. We need to regularly be expositing Scripture to the leaders of nations.”
It is a good practice to study the biblical ingredients of love on a regular basis. Love is often misunderstood in our culture.
Ministry leaders and husband and wife teams from 31 nations and 14 U.S. states were encouraged last week in their work to teach the Word of God to political leaders in seats of power from local governments to federal parliaments around the globe.
What follows are the three most important priorities—per the Bible—for you to practice in order to effectively change a nation.
“The best hour of my week is the Senate Bible study. In a world starved for truth, we desperately need more oaks in office."
I will never forget the morning I was playing 3-on-3 basketball with Pete Maravich in Pasadena, California. It was the morning he would die from a massive heart attack. How well I remember Dr. James Dobson and myself trading back and forth in our attempts at mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. What seemed like an eternity, a half-hour later the ambulance finally arrived. During that period there was no response at all—no sign of life in Pete whatsoever. The autopsy would later
reveal that one of the all-time greatest basketball players was dead the moment he hit the floor, incapable of benefitting from our futile attempts, incapable of responding to any stimulus, incapable of any ability of his own to respond. That chilling, stark memory will forever remain etched in my mind. It serves as a poignant picture of this week’s Scripture passages I would like to study with you.
May God use the following to aid in crafting a special, constructive day centered in our love for Jesus. Let us give thanks for all He has done for us!

How disciplined are you in your speech patterns? This week I would like to examine one of my favorite passages from the book of Ephesians that deals with God’s expectations of the believer’s
speech patterns. This is really good stuff!
Please pray that God’s leading will be made clear, that doors across the world will continue to open to His Word, and that Capitol Ministries teams will be faithful to carry out the mandate of the Great Commission to the leaders of the world.
In the Gospel of Mark (3:13–19), Jesus chooses twelve disciples into whom He will pour His life. These are the men God would use in a super extraordinary way! In fact, the book of Acts states these are those who would “turn the world upside down” (17:6, KJV).
Our country desperately needs public servants who will turn America upside down! So, what is Jesus looking for in you? What character quality does He most desire to be present? Are you the
type of person He can use mightily and extraordinarily?
When Jesus said in Matthew 22:21, “render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s; and to God the things that are God’s,” He was proclaiming a distinction from what was practiced in OT Israel, something quite different for the Church Age that was to come, the age we live in today.
The Bible clearly teaches that in the Church Age, there is to be an institutional separation of church and state, however it also teaches that God’s Church is to influence the state, and it is this biblical directive that Capitol Ministries embraces and works to fulfill.
