John Piper, author of Desiring God and outspoken calvinist, recently said that “I’m sometimes appalled at how some pastors say they can have staff that are all over the map theologically,” he said. “I think this breeds weak churches that become mirrors of the culture sooner or later.” This is code for "My way or the highway". We assert that pastors should always regard their conversations with people in the highest confidence and never discuss things without express permission of the confessor. This person feels that their faith is "beyond shipwreck" because of this and other experiences. With so many people wondering why churches don’t pay taxes, it is baffling beyond comprehension that organizations like the Family Research Council (not a church by any sensible definition) is able to skip out on their taxes as well. At least churches generally to something church like. Then we talk about what Scott calls the most we-all-saw-this-coming event of the millennium: a youth pastor is arrested for his participation in the January 6 riot. This episode is a bit of a mixed bag for us. On the one hand, the steps that the SBC has been taking to try to repair themselves is encouraging. However, it also feels like it isn't going far enough, fast enough. We all have to make up our own minds on that one. We just hope that this slow pace doesn't come to a stop. The women of Jesus' church deserve the best from their beloved churches. The work the SBC is now undertaking will require a lot of encouragement even from outside the denomination.

Just when you thought there was enough drama with pastors, something new shows up. We discuss Stovall Weems who after defrauding his church with a little help from his wife, decided to sue them. We take a look at the continuing drama of Hillsong, which doesn't seem to want to slow down. Seems appropriate for Hillsong considering its treatment of women in the past.
Next, we talk about the recent Christin protests of Disney over Disney's opposition to a Florida law which prohibits "instruction" about gender and sexuality issues to children K-3. Why does Billy have two mommies? You'll never know. The obvious problem here is that these Christians have forgotten that Disney is not a church nor even a Christian business, a thing which Paul's teaching makes clear is not a concern. The problem is something called Christian Dominionism (or 7 Mountains Dominionism). And guess what: this is heresy. Enjoy!

They also talk about John MacArthur's church, and how it raised around $300,000 for the legal defense of one of its employees who had abused his wife and children (including sexual abuse). His church, Grace Community Church, showed just how grace-filled it is when it excommunicated the abused woman for her sin of having the unmitigated gall to commit herself to Biblical teaching.

Even giving him the benefit of the doubt, his own history supporting Trump and Putin's own aggression toward other territories makes his tweet ring hollow. We should pray prophetically against aggressors like Putin, that they would be convicted by their sinfulness. Not only should Graham be more thoughtful about his words, but his celebrity among Christians does not afford him a pass
Next on the docket is a story which reveals a Catholic archdiocese in Michigan which invalidated several hundred baptisms because the attendant priest said "we." This is in the heels of an archdiocese in Arizona invalidating several thousand (not a typo) baptisms due to the same "mistake" made by a priest there. They ask the Vatican to examine these choices in light of Jesus teaching, and NOT Catholic tradition.

The contest is not between the Bible and science, but between literalistic readings and appropriate exegesis.
Next they peer into the void of madness that is Greg Locke having an actual, factual book burning. The books which are so heinous as to lead our children in to the occult and Satan worship? The conclusion is that the Christian community needs to answer the fool according to his folly otherwise he will remain wise in his own eyes (c.f., Proverbs 6:25).
