When one takes two formidable creative forces and joins them together, well what do you expect will happen? CREATIVITY!

Dianne Pearce and David Yurkovich met when Dianne's dog placed a print ad for a walking buddy. Since that time they have gone on to establish CURRENT WORDS an alternative publisher created to help authors bring theirmanuscripts to completion and, ultimately, publication. Current Words is NOY a vanity press - rather it built on relationship building. Simply put -does a particular project fit with the goals of CURRENT WORDS and is CURRENT WORDS the right place for the work? Publishing predicated on relationships - an old fashion notion that is so relevant in the AI dominated world.

Both Dianne and David are accomplished authors. David began his writing career by writing and illustrating graphic novels. His first published work was DEATH BY CHOCOLATE. His DBC stories were later published in acollected edition as DEATH BY CHOCOLATE: REDUX. He is the creator of the quirky graphic novels super-hero collection LESS THAN HEROES. His other works include ALTERCATIONS, the novels GLASS ONION and BANANA SEAT SUMMER. He is currently serializing two works on Kindle Vella: NEW SANTA | CRIMSON RED and CAPES AND MASKS.

Dianne is an award-winning author, editor, writing coach, teacher, and publisher who has helped hundreds of authors in their goal of publication. She has been recognized by numerous organizations including The National Councilof Teachers of English, The National Federation of Press Women, and The Delaware Press Association. In 2014 Dianne formed The Milton Workshop, a group dedicated to nurturing authors and developing their novels. She and David cofounded Devil’s Party Press, an independent publishing house working with authors over forty, a group she

felt it was underserved in publishing. She is the

founder and editor of the award-winning online literary

magazine, INSTANT NOODLES where she strives to give good

short-form writing recognition. In 2022 Dianne founded the

poetry collective, Old Scratch Press.

A suitcase was returned to Tim Lorsch by man he did not know. The man found the suitcase in a thrift store in England. Through the internet he located Tim in Tennessee. The suitcase had belonged to Tim's Uncle Julius. It was the suitcase Julius had taken to the Auschwitz concentration camp. The suitcase survived.

Tim Lorsch's family lived through the Hitler genocide and for years after lived under the shadow of that time. Tim's family assimilated to life in the US. They started a business, raised a family and, they like many others tried to reconcile the Holocaust with their present and the future they hoped for their children.

Tim grew up surrounded by a strong family and community. He became an accomplished and successful musician. Using these skills and the process of "looping" Tim was able the create a unique and powerful performance of hope.

Using his family's history, his music and words, Tim created THE SUITCASE. Playing a variety of stringed instruments, including a family heirloom violin saved from the Nazis, Tim tells one family's story of assimilation in preWWII Germany, sacrifice, escape, journey, community and a second assimilation of his family in the US.

The powerful truth of those who survived and those that did not, rings true today as the world faces a renewed wave of antisemitism. THE SUITCASE has a deeper meaning - one of man's fear of another that creates hatred and another's man desire to show compassion to those that hate.

Thomas Mahon has a unique perspective on Silicon Valley. He was an insider when Wang was the rage and Apple was still a seedling.

His book, CHARGED BODIES, originally published in 1985, is an insider's perspective of the semiconductor industry. Mahon interviewed 25 people whose goal was "to create technology and tools in service to humanity." In the Afterward to the 2024 edition, Mahon questions whether those goals were accomplished.

The book explores what it took to turn rich farmland into a wealthy center of high-tech. He takes us into a world before personal computers, the Internet, or social media. He takes us into the emerging world of new technologies as seen by those inventors, bankers, artists, hackers, detectives, journalists, lawyers, scientists, and philosophers who helped shaped the Silicon Valley of today.

Whatever one's view of A.I., Social Media, the Internet, and all, this book is a reboot to our thinking of technology. Has it been a service to humanity or has it become the Master of humanity? Mahon now urges us all to "to rise up and rethink technology."

CHARGED BODIES, by Thomas Mahon, the 2024 edition is published by Pragmatic Stories. The book is available online.

Chris's journey begins with a decision to make a change. Chris came to acting after many years in the corporate environment. It involves the passion for the art coupled with the reality that this, like all aspects of entertainment, is a business. Using this experience Chris launched in the fields of producing, directing, and writing. It is this mixed with his acting skills that makes Chris unique - he believes in giving back.

Chris is a coach for actors, directors, and writers, and that altruistic nature follows Chris throughout his life. Chris serves as a board member and volunteer for Woofs for Warriors, Inc., an organization that finds dogs in need of a home and pairs them with veterans who have served our country. "As an artist, my journey has been one of evolution and exploration, marked by a transformation from realism to impressionism, and ultimately, to abstraction. The progression of my artistic style over 25 years has been the building block for this latest phase of my art, abstraction," noted Carol in her Artist Statement.

Terry Hastings enjoys what he does even if it "annoys" the censorship of social media. He discovered photography after years in the theater and performing arts. After moving in the Fall of 2009 to Palm Springs from Minneapolis Terry was immediately taken with his surroundings both geographical and societal. He found this place to be a dichotomy of people: one set basking in a verdant oasis and the other set struggling in a city that was barren and dry.

Terry's first geographic adventure was to the sand dunes just north of Palm Springs. He used this as the backdrop for his Earth, Wind, Fire & Water series. But his forte is the depiction of male beauty in various photographic techniques. Using nude and clothed models Terry creates images that celebrate the human form. His work is often deemed controversial because of his use of nudes. But the question lingers why are male nudes more obectional than female? Why is the nude, a form that has been the subject of art for centuries, such a lightning rod for platforms such as Facebook and X?

In his Nude Food Series Terry noted that "(T)he "nude" is often weaponized as lewd and distasteful. I wanted to make it tasty and more importantly, fun. I am taking the stigma out of nudity by adding a sense of whimsy." In his interview, Terry continues the discussion of the double standard that exists when art and nude collide.

He presented his works before in the Palms Springs Art Museum, as well as other exhibitions in Los Angeles, Seattle, Portland, and Tampa.

James William Moore is not only a much-sought after and admired educator, but he is also an international lens-based artist known for his use of camp and kitsch aesthetics to create surreal and thought-provoking cinematic experiences through photography, video, projection mapping, and installations.

Through his work, Moore appropriates politics, American pop culture, and everyday life creating a visual language that is both humorous and deeply meaningful. He has always been drawn to the power of visual storytelling, as seen in his series Tilting at Windmills, Get a Clue, and Portrait of a Teller’s Fortune as he brings his imagination to life by combining fact and fantasy.

To James, appropriation is not a dirty word. To him it is a word that has been much maligned over the years. “However, when we aren’t appropriating cultures, the power of appropriation is limitless, “ said James. “ To be honest, as much as kitsch and camp form the heart of my storytelling art practice, the soul of my artwork is appropriation. Appropriation refers to taking something of someone else’s and making it our own. When I look back over my work, I see a heavy influence coming from artists like Cindy Sherman, René Magritte, Philip-Lorca diCorcia, Andy Warhol, and Edward Hopper. Whether it’s a subconscious passion for architecture and mundane of Hopper, the vibrant storytelling with saturated imagery of diCorcia, or the sheer gaudiness of Warhol – I see the influence of these masters on my work. Through my reverent appreciation of these artists, I appropriate their style, subject matter, visual composition, and techniques.”

Moore completed his Master of Fine Art, with a concentration in photography, at San José State University. He has taught photography at SJSU and Gavilan College. He also led a workshop on Adobe Photoshop to assist with the City of San Jose’s Cultural History and Postcard Public Art Project. His work has been seen in group shows, with highlights including: Clang, Clang Clang went the Trolley at Rayko Galleries’ SHOWCASE (2012, San Francisco), Spin Me ‘Round at Pacific Art League’s Carnevale (2010, Palo Alto), Alone with Dino at 1650 Gallery’s Dudes, Bros, & Gentlemen (2016, Los Angeles), Dances at Windmills at JJ&A PopUP Gallery’s Unconventional Urban Ballet (2014, Palm Springs) and selected images from Madame B’s Tarot Readings appearing at FotoNostrum (2023, Barcelona). Moore’s solo show highlights include: 40 at Paragon Restaurant, Carnevale & Kimonos at Read Brown Salon (2016, Palm Springs), Get a Clue at San Jose State University’s Black Gallery (2020), and Madame B’s Tarot Readings at Jo Farb Hernandez Gallery. His public art participation includes Red Obi from the Obon series in the Japantown Mural Project (2013, San Jose) and Judgement from the Madame B’s Tarot Readings series in Expo Metro’s Billboard Art Project (2023, Barcelona).

At the age of four, David Tuber knew he wanted to pursue a life in animation. "I've always found great satisfaction in writing for television and film. My strengths lean towards comedy writing, sketch comedy, punch-up, etc. However, I also have a knack for finding the heart of a story, character, scene, and presenting it in a natural, unforced way. The stories I enjoy most as an audience and writer are, if I may be so cliche, the ones that make you laugh and make you cry," noted David.

Obsessed with cartoons he drew constantly with the hopes to participate in the industry he adored. After graduating from Columbia College Chicago in 2005, he arrived in Los Angeles and began working at Shadowmachine Films. While there he worked on stop-motion animated for Robot Chicken.

Soon thereafter, David befriended his comedy-writer idol, Dino Stamatopoulos and he began working on Dino’s show, Moral Orel. In 2009, David became a director on Dino's next stop-motion animated show, Mary Shelley’s Frankehole.

Following that, David made his debut into film - storyboarding on The LEGO Movie under the guidance of his longtime friend and director, Chris McKay. David worked on the next three more Lego films .

He also began sharpening his writing skills by writing for the LA-based sketch comedy troupes such as SecondHand Smog and Steed, while continuing his work in television animation.

David and his wife Abigail reside in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

In Barbours Cut, novelist Nancy E. Potter has combined family lore, documented facts, and her imagination to create this largely factual, story of her ancestors. Potter's great-grandfather, Clyde A. Barbour, a determined young man with boundless ambition, lived and worked on his family's flatboat on the Mississippi River before becoming a steamboat captain. A self-educated man of culture with a passion for architecture, design, and the arts, Clyde grew into a successful businessman and pioneer of American industry and development. With his beloved wife,Jennie, by his side, he built a life for his growing family that provided them with opportunities and life experiences even beyond what even he had imagined. In his colorful life Barbour dealt with significant life challenges among them family alcoholism, infidelity, jealousy and many other dangers, such as dealing with Mexican revolutionaries. He enhanced the lives of many of those around him, as well as many he had never met.

Nancy E. Potter was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. At the age of nine, she moved with her family to Europe. While spending five wonderful years abroad, Potter gained an appreciation for people from very different cultures. After graduating from college, Potter moved to Washington, D.C., to work on Capitol Hill and at the White House in the Office of Communications. Her entrepreneurial mindset led her into the garment industry, where she designed fashionable maternity clothes.

One of Potter's sons was born with a rare genetic skin disease called Epidermolysis Bullosa (often referred to as E.B.). Out of her son's many years of pain, she learned to marvel at the little thing he could accomplishand gained great compassion for those with special needs and their caregivers. Her son is now 30 and doing well. To raise awareness and funds for much-needed research, she put on the first-ever major fundraisers for E.B. in the1990s, and continues to work to bring awareness to the disease. Please consider donating to this organization by visiting www.debra.org.

WE ARE JACK STRONG is the musical genius of Dan Scott, Chas "Thunderhoof" Benedict and Gregg "Gogo" Oliver. Their stated mission is to

"(C)reate great music that connects with our collective personal struggles and inspires and equips us to overcome them. To be a source of motivation, a constant reminder that one can overcome anything that holds them back." And this trio more than succeeds in that mission.

The songs are microcosms of life as experienced by real people. Within their work there is completeness of raw emotion - but it is not the sound of despair nor melancholic ennui. It truly is the resonating sounds of life - in the real world.

WE ARE JACK STRONG - their music is, as they say their "contribution, our art... to tell the truth as completely as we can. When it hurts, we know we've done it right."

They do it right.
