After 2 years, The Proper Paupers are finally home. Join Rae as she listens to dangerously adventurous stories from Gracia, her friend of 10 years. Gracia and her partner Yee Jia have spent 2 years on the road. In the first year, they built a van from scratch (with zero experience) and travelled across all 48 states of America. In the second year, they cycled over 20,000km across 21 countries by tandem bicycle (yes, two people coordinating on a single bike).

From hitchhiking to being escorted by armed personal, receiving generous acts of kindness from people who have barely enough for themselves, and experiencing the purest moments of connection, Gracia shares the highest highs and lowest lows of their journey.

Gracia and her partner had a dream to see the world, but did not have a lot of money. That marked the start of The Proper Paupers, as they wanted to travel properly despite being on a pauper-tight budget. If you have even a spark of an adventurous spirit, dreams of seeing the world, or just love a good story, you don’t wanna miss this podcast episode!

*This is a Bonus Podcast from Rae’s YouTube video. Do watch the YouTube video for the full experience, here — https://www.youtube.com/@RaeFung

It is my 25th birthday tomorrow, 28th November.

As I look at my life today and compare it to where I was 5 years ago, I find that it’s almost unrecognisable. Not just is my life different, my entire being is different — the way I think, the way I speak, the amount of belief and love I have for myself — is worlds apart.

Rae 5 years ago would NEVER imagine she can be doing work she truly loves today, much less travel and work from anywhere. She was once the girl that woke up everyday unhappy and uninspired, feeling like a failure in everything she does.

And yet, here I am. Looking back, I realised that there were 3 things I needed to unlearn in order to break free from the life people wanted me to live, and start building the life I wanted to live so that I can be happy.

I needed to unlearn these limiting beliefs and patterns that were running my thoughts, emotions and actions, and adopted new ones that expanded and inspired me.

Has finding your Purpose been something that’s been on your mind? And then honestly – has finding your purpose been feeling like you’re hitting a wall? What does it really mean to Find your Purpose?

One of the most common questions I’ve gotten when I meet new people is they ask me “Rae, you’re running your own global coaching business, speaking on stages in front of thousands, and when you talk about your work you’re SO PASSIONATE. How did you discover that this is what you wanna do?

Strangely enough, what helped me discover my purpose was actually NOT fretting so much about finding my purpose. I share EXACTLY what I mean in this episode and how you can set yourself on the path of discovering your purpose.

Have you ever avoided a conversation you NEEDED to have with someone? You know it has to happen but you’re afraid of ruffling feathers or “making it a big deal”.

Perhaps it is at work, when your colleagues don’t give their best as you give yours. Or your boss who doesn’t seem to respect after-work hours.

Maybe it's your parents or partner who don’t seem to understand your POV no matter how much you explain, and just keep giving you unsolicited advice.

Or a friend who constantly rants and whines about her life and you always feel drained by your conversations. You don’t know what or how to approach the conversation.

Avoiding these tough conversations could ultimately HARM YOU.

In this episode of the "Own Your Voice Pod", I share about the harmful consequences of avoiding tough conversations, and how we can best handle them.

How do you make the most out of opportunities that may be dreary, and motivate yourself when doing responsibilities you're not passionate about?

What you’re doing as a job may not be the thing you’re most passionate about.

Sometimes after years of building your business, things get repetitive and you lose that spark

There will be aspects of your work you don’t enjoy – for me I love the speaking to people part, coaching part, but I don’t exactly love planning, using excel sheets and preparing proposals.

Here’s the problem: Do something without heart and people can tell. It gives off a certain energy. This energy creates your brand presence that stays with people. They’ll remember you for that.

Question today is – how can you do everything with excellence and inspiration even when you aren’t passionate about it?

As you listen to this podcast, I suggest downloading the document that comes with this, it includes the Powerful Guiding Questions I mention during this podcast. It is available in my Private Telegram Channel, which you may join here: http://bit.ly/SSpeakersSpecial

You are unique. Show that uniqueness. You can do that through owning and leveraging your unique story.

In today’s episode you’ll learn not just how you can Own Your Story, but the various ways you can and leverage it to set you apart in your industry. We’ll be talking about Owning Your Story so that you speak up and show up with unshakeable confidence and unforgettable presence.

We’ll also be talking about Using Your Story in: building your business or personal brand, creating content that inspires and educates, in your interviews, and introducing yourself to someone new.

Whether it is fear of failure, fear of embarrassment and criticism, fear of connection and relationships -- fear will stop us from achieving our greatest desires, and severely limit our potential, IF we don’t know how to handle it.

Today’s podcast is the first part of a two part series with Coach Jenny Quiros, a Strengths-Based Life Coach focused on helping people achieve wellbeing and fulfilment in life. We are all wired to connect. Friends, family, community - they are an integral part of our lives. Our friends usually share our common interests or professions, so what happens if we change our professions? If we have a redirection of our priorities? We may naturally spend less time with our old group of friends, but does that mean we will lose them?

In this episode, I chat with Jing An, an entrepreneur, author, financial consultant and university student. He shares about the difficult social decisions he made when he entered the vibrant university and campus culture. Join the conversation as we chat about fear of judgement, transiting through phases of life, and managing priorities.

What struck you the most? Have you experienced fear or judgement? Fear of losing friends? It would mean a lot to hear from you. Head to my YouTube or Instagram and leave me a comment.

Today, I will be chatting with my friend Sejal who survived COVID-19 after spending 16 days in the National Centre for Infectious Diseases, NCID. Like me, Sejal is also a communications major in university and a freelance emcee.

To give some context, in November 2019, she shared with me, over lunch, about her excitement in planning her university exchange to the UK. She spent her holidays working extra jobs in order to save for her trip.

In March 2020, her elaborate travel plans were disrupted as she was recalled back to Singapore, only to be tested positive for COVID-19.

In this podcast, Sejal brings us through her lowest and highest points throughout her journey, and shares her biggest learning points.
