WE ALL EXPERIENCE REJECTION – and its scars can remain a heavy burden. But if, in dealing with it, your solution does not leave you closer to God, it was not God’s solution for you.
You must continue on in faith! If you believe that God’s blessings are for other people and not for you, if you believe that God is secretly somehow angry with you over the things that you regret, then you need to know a lot more about the Lord!
Join us in faith as we continue learning to handle this difficult subject. Open your Bible to Matthew 5:25 and get ready for Rejecting Rejection – First This!

Ever have so many bad days it seems everything’s going wrong? When your life is finally going in the right direction, when you’re focused on following Jesus, struggles and roadblocks still appear.
When you feel hard pressed and trapped, it’s time to stop and turn to the Lord.
Even Jesus had bad days and faced rejection and betrayal.“…Always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies.” 2 Corinthians 4:10 When you’re backed into a corner, He is there. When you don’t understand, He is there. When you’re under attack, He is there. As John Wesley declared in his final breath, “Best of all. God is with us.“

True brotherhood is ready to join you in warfare. A brother is with you in the trenches, even at your worst. And our war is not physical or fleshly, it’s spiritual.
God has given us the weapons and the ability to win the fight – and to destroy destructive patterns of thinking.
Brotherhood fights together, but we all have individual battles. We need to detect and destroy the strongholds in our disposition and with the Lord’s help and the strength of brothers (and sisters) bring them in conformity to Christ.
Lean in with us and learn the truth about ourselves and our spiritual battle…

Strongholds are fortified patterns of thinking that are stubbornly resistant to God’s Word and God’s will.
Wherever you’re stuck, whether a destructive sin or hidden addiction – to find freedom, you must get honest and take care of your heart. And nothing will be different until you think differently.
Defeating a stronghold requires confronting sin and failures with humility. But don’t be discouraged, by God’s grace you CAN destroy those patterns and walls of sin, addiction and shame.

Addiction is a heart sickness and a broken crutch. We encounter addiction every day in our ministry. In this new series, we begin grappling with its source.
Addiction is a way of thinking that must change if sobriety is going to last. If you are working to get victory in your behavior, don’t miss this: The critical battle is to change your thoughts.
You have to get behind an addiction to fight it properly – and it cannot be won with earthly weapons. When your first action in the battle is to reach for flesh weapons, the war will soon be lost.
Let’s bring the truth of God’s Word to the chains of addiction, and hope for those in its shackles

In the most challenging and unexpected seasons of life, someone may have told you “God is in control.”
This weekend, first-century believers will remind us why we can trust God and His will.
Growing throughout the book of Acts, the early church was marked by chaos, persecution, life threatening opposition. Yet even then, they actively trusted that the Lord is in control.
Let’s learn from them. Because even when you suffer, even when it’s midnight, even when your faith is weak – and even when the wicked seem to prosper – God is always in control.

This weekend Pastor James brings an all-new message, just preached at Rock Bottom: Why I Love the Lord!
When you hit rock bottom and face a season of grief and loss, remember – God is with you and working in you. While He doesn’t answer prayer that’s passively tossed over the shoulder like a piece of trash, the Lord does incredible things with focused, fervent, earnest, faith-filled prayer.
On even the hardest days, God can give hope and take you the distance you couldn’t go yourself. The darkest days of your life can be in your rearview mirror forever!
Join us in Psalm 103 for these truths about God’s goodness – and you too can declare, “This is why I love the Lord!”

Our final message in 1 Thessalonians is theological, yet very practical and on point. This precious book gives us hope – hope for each other and hope for the future, as we place our confidence in almighty God.
Enduring, unshakeable hope requires active dependence on Jesus Christ, through prayer. In fact, a life of continual prayer reflects your awareness of God’s nearness.
So lay down those burdens you’re carrying, and draw close to Him now, for this final teaching in Hope Springs Eternal.

First Thessalonians is sobering yet hopeful, warning us of judgement to come for unbelievers – but great hope for those who put their faith in Jesus Christ.
Those far from the Lord will instantly awake to the totality of their reality error. But those who are alive in Christ will be rescued by the rapture to watch in safety from the balconies of Heaven.
Take time to learn (or be reminded of) these incredibly important truths in God’s Word about what is to come…

‘Jesus Christ is coming again!’ This is the resounding message of the book of Thessalonians – and the reason why ‘hope springs eternal’.
This is not a wistful wishing for an unlikely or improbable future. Hope is heart reality anchored to the rock of God’s Word.
Think about it… we have a living hope! Jesus Christ is alive and gives life! And His second coming is the great hope of every Christian.
Encourage one another with these words and turn to 1 Thessalonians 4 for more about The Greatest Hope We Have.

The older I get, the more I realize how little I knew when I knew it all.
Even in my pride, my mother’s example and wisdom continually guided me to make better choices and brought me closer to God. Kids will be blessed by their parents’ wise choices – and bent toward their parents’ bad choices.
Some facets of God’s design for women can apply for us all. Even the apostle Paul said, “I was like a nursing mother, taking care of her own children,” as he focused on the needs of the churches in a very personal way.
Take time this Mother’s Day weekend to open your Bible and your heart to God’s Word for you in 1 Thessalonians 4.

While the world abandons morality, questions truth, and redefines goodness, God has an unchanging path of truth and righteousness for us to follow.
God’s will is not a secret blueprint for minute decisions He is hiding, but rather a revealed blueprint for wise decisions – and it’s called the Bible.
God calls us to walk a path of righteousness, to reject our lustful desires, and to avoid the dark alleys of this world. If you are increasingly the person God wants you to be, right choices will follow.
Spend some time in worship before the Lord and get ready to jump into 1 Thessalonians for this clear teaching…

In relational uncertainty, love protects hope by focusing on what matters most.
But Satan’s strategy is to strangle hope as he seeks to disguise, divide and destroy.
Where hope is kept alive, know this: someone is always sacrificing. And most often, it’s Jesus Christ through one of His followers.
Remember, hope is the confident expectation of better days ahead.

Many people fumble around in mystical corners of decision making – "What is God's will for me?" "Who should I marry?" "Where should I live?"
But God does not have an individualistic, specific will for your life. He leaves most of your life choices up to you. And His will in all of them is that you obey His Word.
By the time we end this series, this will be a life changing truth – The Will of God IS the Word of God.

As God blesses you with material things, He wants you to enjoy them – but take heed. Enjoy money carefully or it will destroy you. And if you struggle with anxiety about what you don’t have, or envy over the success of others, you have the problem of discontentment.
Contentment is an attitude that can carry you through your financial journey and your life. Listen to this welcome from Pastor James, then open to 1 Timothy 6:6 – because “godliness with contentment is great gain”!

In Isaiah 6, God's prophet Isaiah sees an astonishing vision of heaven and God's magnificence. When Isaiah encounters the Lord, he cannot help but see his own sin and weakness – his faults fully exposed.
It is no different for us today. In God's presence, there is no room for comparison or way to hide… but even where sin is great, grace is greater still! The Apostle Paul was a follower of Jesus who suffered through imprisonment, hunger and persecution. Amazingly, despite those trials he declared, “I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.”
When we rejoice in what God has provided, we will not become overwhelmed by what we don't have.
This Thanksgiving weekend, let's be thankful for God's goodness and content in what He has provided. Join us in Philippians 4 as learn “Everyday Joy Through Contentment”!

What does it really mean to "remember the Lord"? This week we're diving into one of the most divisive teachings in the history of Christianity, yet one instituted by Jesus Himself to unite us when we gather – Communion.
If you're drifting away from your love for God, remember Christ's sacrifice. When your mind is set on Jesus and growing closer to Him, everything in life gets better.

When God is big, problems are small… but when problems are big, God is small.
Struggles may weigh us down and our burdens may overwhelm, but God is never maxed out or too busy. He is always able to work abundantly, and deal with our trials in far more powerful ways than we could ask or imagine.
Get ready for “Don’t Shrink God!” in Ephesians 3 – He is greater than our problems!

Here’s an awesome truth: one day you will stand face to face with Jesus Christ.
In life, you build with the talents and time God has given you – but no one knows what you’re actually building until the judgment, when God will reveal our work for Him.
Knowing that God alone sees and will judge how we are living, let’s give our days to constructing lives that matter for eternity.
Lean into 1 Corinthians 3 to prepare for your “One on One with Jesus.”

Our ministry has been growing and serving men who are stuck in addictions. At the Act Like Men House, we’ve been guiding men at the rock bottom of addiction toward lasting freedom, through faith in Christ and community with brothers in Christ. This message was preached at our ministry center, Rock Bottom, and is for you and your loved ones who need victory and freedom from your shame and burdens.
Intellectual knowledge of Christ, rules, structure, and sheer will-power alone can never set people free. Only Jesus Christ can truly set people free. The God who made you wants to free you from sin, addiction and shame.
This new teaching series, Finally Free, will give you the truth you need to destroy the strongholds in your life. Join us in Acts 13 as we learn the First Steps of recovery!

Throughout my ministry, I’ve repeated this phrase: “Born once, die twice. Born twice, die once.”
As sinful from birth, this is the reality we each begin and will end with on earth. The inevitable price of sin is death. But the gift of God is eternal life – the “good news” of the gospel! In today’s brand-new message from Romans 6, we’ll delve into: God, sin, substitution, believe, life.
Have you believed the gospel for yourself? If you have, can you share it with others? If you or someone you know needs the hope of a saving relationship with God, this weekend’s message is for you.

Peace is the calm assurance that what God is doing is best.
Is your heart heavy with condemnation, shame, a list of all your wrongs? Remember, in Christ you are freed from that guilt to live in peace – peace with God, peace from God, and in the peace of God.
The world is full of evil, but God demonstrates His love toward you through the cross. This week, dive with us into the very center of the center of Christianity: the gospel of Jesus Christ.

In and of ourselves, we are dead and following the enemy’s dark path… BUT GOD! Rich in mercy – He is the only one who can save us, and all who are lost and wandering.

Great Buts of The Bible (Part 1) - But God Meant It For Good
The phrase “great but!” (not great “butt”) is about the most powerful conjunction in the English language – a truth hinge that opens the door to so much.
For many years as I preached, I would pause to quip, “Sometime I have to do a series on ‘Great Buts in the Bible.’” The reality is this: No matter how bad it looks for you or those you love right now, when God steps in everything changes.
Join us for the first week in our new series, “Great ‘Buts’ in the Bible”!

When we are more concerned about looking good than doing good – more concerned about position than purity, we’re going over the cliff.
Getting distracted is easy… we don’t intend a wrong turn down a path of sin. We must beware of trivializing spiritual truth, excusing sin, ignoring alarms, and become our brothers’ keeper.

The term 'salvation' encompasses all that God does for you through faith in Christ, both past from sin, present from self, and someday in the future, from this dark world to be with Him forever in heaven.
Jesus Christ saved you the moment you first believed and is saving you right now by His life – a gift for King Jesus you will always be unwrapping.
What will a God who saves His enemies while stills sinners do next for those He now calls His children? The answer is “Much More,” expounded for us by our gifted teacher Dr. James MacDonald, in a message never before shared beyond where he preached it originally. Praying you will be blessed…

A secret for my Christian walk has been Nahum 1:7: “The LORD is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him.”
It is difficult to walk with God by faith… and when it’s hardest to believe, we need to stop riding the roller coaster of “right now.”
Even if you cannot see it, you can stand on the goodness of God. Get ready to embrace this truth with all your heart: God’s goodness is the soil faith grows in!

God has a plan for every person – He wants to work for you, in you, and through you.But when God calls us to live out our purpose, we often encounter paralyzing insecurity… the awareness of the gap between who we want to be and who we actually are. This week in Exodus 4, we return to Moses' story, as God calls him to boldly follow. Though filled with flaws and failures, God teaches Moses (and us!) an important message about how to truly conquer that insecurity.

Our world is filled with identity issues. If you don't see yourself clearly, it's hard to see anything else clearly.… and you can't have a right view of yourself until you have a right view of God. How to See God Working, Part 2 John 9:24-41
His testimony was simple: "I once was blind, but now I see."
Some people are born physically blind, yet everyone is born spiritually blind. And the only healer for spiritual blindness is Jesus Christ.
Like the man whose sight was personally healed by the Savior Himself, we also must share our story about how He has restored us – and help others learn How to See God Working in their lives, too. Get ready to dive into John 9 for part two of this life-altering teaching…

In Psalm 25, David is in desperate need of rescue – and cries out to God in reverance and fear.
Fear is the attitude of heart that seeks a right relationship to the fear source. The one David feared is the One he trusted. And so can we.
Come, worship, and let’s dig in!

Do you doubt whether you’ll actually go to heaven when you die?
Many people do, despite Jesus’ teaching, “You must be born again!”

"Born once, die twice. Born twice, die once." This weekend we reflect again on the sobering truth: There is a second death for all who reject Christ, yet there is hope for those who are born again. Let’s meet with our Heavenly Father in His Word and settle this matter… forever.

Though King David is called "a man after God's own heart,” in 2 Samuel 11 he found himself in a mess of sin.
When David reached his own rock bottom, God called him to repentance. Lean into this week’s teaching and learn how God can clean up our lives too – no mattter how messy.

What do you do when your life is a mess? Rock Bottom is where King David found himself, in Samuel 11:2 – far from God and deep in sin. Yet God offered His servant forgiveness through repentance – and regardless of the messes we have made, He invites us to draw near too.

Running from God is the road to rock bottom. Yet, When God’s children rebel and run, He is not passive or indifferent. The Lord is active and aggressive – He goes after His kids. “Rock bottom” means it is time to look up.

Burdens are heavy. That is no secret. But what can I help someone else carry VS what they have to carry for themself? What weight am I under that I have to carry VS what Jesus can carry for me? The weight of “must carry” can only find rest by learning to carry like Jesus. Jesus does not always take the weight away, sometimes He offers a way to carry. Sermon from Galatians 6.

Christ is risen! This Easter we praise God and remember Christ's death and resurrection.
On Easter Sunday, when Jesus rose from the dead he became everything. Pastor James originally preached this message at the Sears center a few years ago and shares it this weekend with the Home Church Network.

One of the deepest pains we can face in life is the pain of betrayal. Our Lord was betrayed by one of his closest friends moments before his death. Through pain and betrayal, Christ provides the ultimate example. This Easter season, we remember the death of Jesus and look to the hope of His resurrection.

How often do we know the action we need to take, but get caught up in the moment - and do nothing? Faith acts. You may believe in the power of prayer, but either you're going to the Lord in prayer or you're not.
There may be obstacles that keep you from prayer. Endure and get past that hurdle – knock it down if you must – but keep going in faith. [Mark 5:25-34]

To learn about surrender prayer, you need to get your Jesus shoes on – because we’re going to be walking in His steps. Surrender is not about getting provision for a trial from God, but getting through a trial with God. The first thing to do in surrender praying is to go to God in total honesty. [Matthew 26:36-39]

Dr. James MacDonald preaches without apology straight from the pages of Scripture, provoking Christians to think and act on their faith.
Loving in a sustained, supernatural, you-before-me way only comes from God. We can't do it on our own. Scripture says, " Set your mind on things above not on things of the earth," but how do you do that? While there are things you have to put off if you are to live a lifestyle of love, the "do nots" are not the focus for today's teaching. The Foundation of Love is about the Do’s to put on. God doesn’t want you just to do it (love) - he wants you to feel it as well. Willing to receive injury rather than inflict it, knowing we will always love so long as we realize the capacity to love is not within us.

Diversity is both a gift and enemy to unity. In it, we find a tug-of-war competition between quantity of disciples and quality of discipleship. In today's "pre-game speech" from Ephesians 4, Pastor James unpacks the purpose of diversity, discipleship, and maturity. No quantity of people can be a substitute for quality of disciples.

The role of the Holy Spirit in the life of a Christian is a central matter of Christianity. The Holy Spirit is the Christian life. Find out what you can do to live a more Spirit-filled life.

We've been given an immense responsibility. We have tim, resources, and abilities. The King expects a return on His investment. But have you stopped to consider all that God would give if you would steward what He gave initially?
Before the Wise Men could offer their gifts and worship to Jesus, they had to do a few things. You too must prepare yourself to adore Him. Find out how to recognize the King, verify that He is worthy of your loyalty, and present your gifts unashamedly. As you allow Him to fill your heart with abundant joy unrelated to your circumstances, coming to adore Him will never be the same.
Have you bowed? This is not something you want to be foggy about. You can either bow before the King of Kings willingly today or forcefully in eternity. In other words, you have to get the second life during the first life or you’ll get the second death after your first death. A message in Matthew 2 from Dr. James MacDonald’s teaching series “King Forever.“

The application of biblical authority means you can't just do what you want. Biblical authority is not failing at the point of intellectualism, it is failing at the point of individual application.Never has the Bible been so readily available, yet made so little difference in the way people live. Its applications are many and will surely be rewarded. This message from Psalm 19:7-11 covers the various facets of Scripture applied.

Scripture Is True • Lay the foundation of your faith here, because from it, you have everything. The Bible is the final authority and it has been confirmed by eye witnesses, written without human origin, inspired by the Holy Spirit. In this message, we will address fallacies regarding the Bible.
Racism & the Church • Foundations are being destroyed. Dark ominous clouds of unchangeable consequences are gathering over a nation that once heeded the words of God. The voices have cried, “if we don’t turn, we will reap what we have sown.” The warnings have gone unheeded and calamity has begun to fall. Listen as Pastor James delivers a warning to the Iowa Caucus for Dr. Ben Carson, and then preaches a follow-up sermon on The Foundation of Righteous Governance.
SOMETIMES YOU GOTTA FIGHT • What does it take to get you on your feet? At times, Christians have made too big a deal of little things and too little a deal about big things. So, modern day 'evanjellycals' are reticent to fight when necessary. But, the Bible tells us what to fight FOR... This teaching from Dr. James MacDonald is the first in a verse-by-verse study in the book of Jude – and it will help prepare you to stand firm as you contend for the faith.
Negativity is sin • because it is faithless, loveless, destructive words about people or situations that only ventilate my flesh and don’t advance God’s purposes. Ultimately, negativity is a failure to love. God hears it. God hates it. God will judge it. So, through the example of Numbers 11 and 12, Pastor James preaches on how to get unstuck from negativity.
Are you afraid? • Fear is often not because of the present and certain, but rather the future and the uncertain. The pattern of worrisome, fearful thinking is not from God and we must get unstuck from it. Do you know what has God given you to escape? Join Pastor James in 2 Timothy 1:7 to discover 3 keys to getting unstuck from fear.
In all change, there is a crisis and a process. As sexual sin is ravaging society and running rampant in the church, we need a crisis. Anything outside of God’s definition of sexuality in marriage is a sin against God. Since the gospel breaks the pattern of habitual sin, of there’s not a growing pattern of Christ-likeness, you are not saved.

Too many people are stuck in their marriage when God has established and sanctified marriage for the wellbeing and happiness of mankind. Marriage is under attack. And long before any couple ever used the “D” word (divorce), they were stuck. Not going forward. Not growing. Not meeting one another’s needs. How do we get that unstuck? Well, part of the problem in your marriage is refusal to admit there’s a problem. If you’re willing to do that, this message contains 5 biblical routes to take that guarantee a marriage that is unstuck.
Escape Depression. • If you have a pattern of thinking that causes dark clouds to hang over your life, it’s hard to penetrate that and go in a different direction. YOU NEED TO! If you find yourself stuck emotionally in a pattern that doesn’t seem to be going forward, escape is near as we analyze how one of God’s best men got to such a bad place and discover God's way out.
Culture Is Changing. • What are we supposed to do? Culture is changing and Christians aren’t agreeing. In times like these, it is more important than ever to go to God’s word. "In times of moral decline, strengthen your foundation in the Lord."

Pastor James MacDonald preaches without apology straight from the pages of Scripture, provoking Christians to think and act on their faith. His Bible teaching ministry, Walk in the Word, launched on as a radio broadcast in 1997, with the mission of "igniting passion in the people of God through the proclamation of truth."
