Arnie Ostrander is a non-seismic oil and gas exploration consultant and researcher. His early research work with Exxon, Marathon, Texaco, and other major oil companies and some smaller independents demonstrated the potential of using non-seismic resistivity technology for oil exploration in plays where seismic data does not delineate the oil and gas reservoirs. Arnie's 40-year focus has been the utilization of non-seismic geophysical methods for the delineation of high-volume, high profit, and underdeveloped fracture reservoirs, and some potentially high-volume stratigraphic reservoirs that were not observed in either 2-D or 3-D seismic data.

Downhole Diagnostic diagnoses your downhole! I use a Fluid Level Gun and a Dynamometer (Dyno) [metaphorically depicted above] to determine the fluid level and measure the downhole pump performance on Rod Pumped Wells. To be more precise, Dynamometers are only applicable to Rod Pumped wells while Fluid Level Surveys can be used on any type of producing oil or gas well that doesn't have a Packer (Fluid Level Shots can even be taken down the tubing, for example: if a tubing leak is suspected). I then submit my findings in a concise report along with any optimization recommendations.

Long-Time Petroleum Engineer Wayne Wisniewski shares his story of how he got involved with KinFrac and his relationship with the late legend, Ed Anders -
How KinFrac WorksKinFrac is the ultimate solution for variable pulse fracking. KinFrac generates a huge, repeatable kinetic energy pulse for maximum fracture development. Additionally, by incorporating CO2 gas into the fracking fluid, KinFrac converts an incompressible fluid column into a compressible fluid volume. The compressed CO2 gas within the fluid column captures the tremendous kinetic energy generated from the rapid deceleration of the fracking fluid which is used for more complete and complex fracture growth.
Production Cost SavingsKinFrac requires fewer surface pumps and less horse power, yet produces greater fracturing energy than conventional fracking techniques. Significantly less water is required in the KinFrac process, resulting in additional savings.
The InventorEdward O. Anders earned his BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1950. With over 50 years of experience in the oil field, as well as the corporate world, and with numerous patents to his name, his first Kinetic Energy patent, 'Apparatus, Systems, and Methods for Fracturing a Geological Formation' aka KinFrac, is the invention he considers to be the professional achievement of his lifetime. Subsequently a second and third patent have issued and a forth and fifth are in progress adding to what Mr. Anders envisioned as an entire "Family of Kinetic Energy Patents". Sadly, Mr. Anders passed away on December 15, 2018 at the age of 92. However, his legacy will live on as his work will continue through his family and professional associates as they pursue his dream of revolutionizing the oil industry. Through his methods, extracting shale oil will become more economical and environmentally friendly and will help the US to become more oil and gas independent which was Mr. Anders' lifelong goal.

He has recently published a paper on nature and is establishing a foundation for paleogeography and taking data from old rocks in order to best make sense of them today. We discuss one of the wildest rocks found in outcrop, a sandstone that’s been transformed into an iron-saturated masterpiece. That’s not even for his Ph.D. just outcropping adventures! Dr. Toti Larson is a Research Associate and Principal Investigator of the Mudrock Systems Research Laboratory (MSRL) consortium at the University of Texas at Austin, Bureau of Economic Geology. As PI of the MSRL since 2019, Toti coordinates with Energy companies to identify knowledge gaps and develop subsurface geology characterization projects that leverage the MSRL research team strengths. In his own research Toti applies geochemistry, geology, and machine learning tools to develop predictive subsurface characterization models. Toti built a Python package (CorePy) for open source sharing of subsurface characterization tools and geological characterization workflows he has developed.

The point in this show was made by Troy, can software be the tool used to transfer knowledge? Can we design software to capture the process of the user better, which could be the best training possible for the young professionals.
