If you’re a parent to tweens or teens, they're going to be on social media. It's inevitable.
But as a parent, we can encourage them in a productive direction too!
In recent weeks I’ve put this into practice with my two oldest children and worked with them to create faceless YouTube channels with the help of AI.
I got so many questions about this on Instagram, that I created a podcast episode about how we did it!
You can see the faceless YouTube channels my children created here:

Most of us live our lives often unaware that the tension we are experiencing in our lives means that it's time to reinvent ourselves. Maybe you’ve found yourself in moments of discontent: scrolling social media, mindlessly eating, procrastinating. It could be a signal that it’s your moment to reinvent. So what if you want to change, but feel stuck in your day to day? Maybe you're living a life based on decisions you made long ago. Those decisions may not reflect who you are currently or want to be.
You must release the old narrative to make room for a new story. We often resist this change because much of it comes from our innate need for belonging and approval. Questions like 'Do I belong?', 'Am I right?', or 'Am I on the correct side of things?' often drive our actions, keeping us within the boundaries of our current selves. This is often buried in our subconscious.
If you're not making the progress you hoped, pause. Ask yourself: What would your future self tell you in this situation? The key is active movement. Too often, we engage in passive movement such as reading and consuming. This is not the way that we will develop a relationship with our future selves. Through the journey of reinvention - the active movement to our new self - we learn to detach our sense of self from static labels. Your journey of transformation is a testament to your strength, courage, and pursuit of purpose.

If you’ve considered creating an online course to build a life of freedom and fulfillment with digital income, you’re in good company. The online course market is estimated to generate a billion dollars of revenue daily.
Despite the booming industry, many courses fail to make their mark, so they don’t sell. They get lost in a sea of content, unable to reach the people who would benefit from hearing it the most.
In this episode, I’m sharing the lessons and strategies on how to create, launch, sell, and continue to sell your course.
The good news is that the path to creating a course that sells isn't as complex as it might seem. And the even better news? It can not only bring in sales but also contribute something valuable to the world.

A lot of people have been asking the question: Is AI really going to make that big of a difference?

So today, we're going to talk about why we should be going all in on AI and why it's more than a trending topic.

Pop quiz: Is it better to compete on price or quality?
If you said quality- you are correct.
And I love this market position.
When you compete on quality and on being the best in your industry or category, you can raise your prices and become more profitable. And you tend to serve the best clients because the best clients want the best service.
And I'm going to propose that when you're selling that way, it's all about having a collaborative sales process- an educated, collaborative, connected, empathetic sales process.
So in today's podcast episode, I'm going to be talking about the secret to collaborative sales!

For most of our existence as humans, fear has been a great thing. It's part of how our brains are wired to operate and has kept us safe for so many hundreds of years.
But when entrepreneurs have to make really tough decisions, a lot of times fear comes into that decision-making process in a way that isn't beneficial.
Fear can be packaged up in a lot of different ways- as ego, pride, inaction, or procrastination.
There are so many ways in which it shows up, and sometimes it's hard to identify what is driving the decisions that we're making in our business.
So how do we know when to use fear to our advantage as entrepreneurs and as business owners, and when do we know how and when to squash it to the ground? Today, I'm going to talk about that in this episode. And I'm really excited to share it with you!

If your sales aren't where you want them to be question is, why?
And you might be assuming, well, my marketing agency is sending me bad leads. Or maybe it's just that we're not following up enough, or I've had a lot of front desk turnover.
Those are all good reasons why sales might not be where you want them to be.
But what if it's as simple as the offer?
A lot of times, that's what we find is the actual offer is the reason why sales isn't where the business owner wants it to be.
And if you've been kind of plateauing, you've explored some of those other options, like, maybe it's my lead flow, maybe it's my paid traffic campaign, maybe I'm not doing enough outreach, maybe I don't have enough partners, those are all really good marketing activities to have in place.
But in my experience, the offer is usually that point of leverage for a lot of business owners that they're not thinking about, that can make a massive difference.
So in this podcast episode, I'm going to be sharing with you some of the elements that I see with a really powerful offer, and how you can incorporate that into your business today.

What if you could turn a seemingly inactive list of people who have opted not to reply to you into a goldmine for your business?
Many people assume that if they didn't buy the first time you made an offer, they're not interested.
And I have to tell you, that if I knew then what I know now, about sales follow-up, I wouldn't even be recording this video, I would be sitting on a beach somewhere sipping a cocktail and watching my kids play in the ocean.
So today, I want to share the power of this inactive database, what it can mean for your business, and the way in which AI makes this entire system so much easier. Stay tuned.

Today I'm going to challenge an assumption that is the cornerstone of so many marketing practices that I'm seeing online.
And this assumption, if left unchecked, could be obstructing your impact, stifling the growth of your organization, and more tragically, muffling the call of your mission.
So imagine, there's this myth circling, and it's causing organizations to undercut their potential and generate online content that just kind of dies when people read it.
And as I'm looking at more and more websites and enrollment funnels, I'm finding that this myth has made its way into strategies, messaging, and very much an outlook towards marketing.
So today, I'm going to be unveiling this myth and how we debunk it. Hold on to your seats, because we're about to revolutionize your understanding of mission-driven marketing.

Time to debunk a myth that's been floating around for way too long.
It's this idea that if you create something valuable, be it a service, a product, or initiative, your audience will somehow discover it on their own and beat a path to your door.
Unfortunately, that's just not how it works.
Especially not in the fast paced, saturated marketplaces we find ourselves in today, as business owners and CEOs.
In my consulting work, I've been privileged enough to help social change companies, educational institutions, and nonprofits revolutionize their marketing and recruitment strategies.
And here's what I've learned: It's never about throwing a message out into the void and hoping it sticks. It's all about “the ask”.
So buckle up, because we're about to dive deep into what that ask really means. And why build it and they will come is a dangerous fallacy, and how you can employ real world strategies to make a real impact in your organization and the world.

Adversity and hardships are a part of life. Whether it's personal struggles we go through, or the challenges that come with taking on something new, there is value in facing and overcoming them.
As the wise words of Maya Angelou have so famously stated, "You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them."
No matter how hard life gets, it's important to remember that hardships can help us grow. They provide us with an opportunity to learn and develop our character, and ultimately give us the strength we need to continue on our path and reach our goals.
My guest today was Courtney Elmer, Founder of the EffortLESS Life.

In today's episode, we're diving into the fascinating and increasingly important topic of ethics and marketing.
As business owners and marketers, it is our responsibility to ensure that our marketing practices align with our values and social responsibility. In fact, I would propose that the general marketplace is burnt out from getting offers from people who don't prioritize ethics.
And in doing so, we're going to stand out from the crowd and create sustainable growth in our company, while making a positive impact on our customers, employees and community.
Next up, I'm going to be sharing with you why ethical marketing isn't just about doing more of what's right-it's also a smart business strategy that can lead to stronger customer relationships.

What if attempting to tackle every single marketing avenue is actually sabotaging your business's success, rather than propelling it forward?
Today, we're diving into the world of multi-channel marketing to debunk a common myth: that utilizing every marketing channel is always the best strategy for every business.
I find that many marketing teams are doing all the things because they feel pressure to. And while multi-channel marketing can be a powerful way to reach a broader audience, it is not a one size fits all solution.
So in this podcast episode, I'm going to explore the reasons why a multi-channel approach may not be the best fit for every business and discuss alternative strategies that might be more effective. Stay tuned!

AI (Artificial Intelligence) and EI (Emotional Intelligence) are two terms that have become increasingly popular in recent years. AI is the ability of machines to interpret data, learn from it, and make decisions without direct human input. Emotional intelligence is the capacity for a person to recognize, understand, and manage their own emotions as well as the emotions of those around them.
When discussing AI and EI, it’s important to note that they are two separate concepts, but they can work together in harmony. AI is best used for tasks that require information processing, data analysis, and decision making using big data sets. Meanwhile, EI helps humans create meaningful connections with one another and understand the emotional consequences of their actions.
In this podcast episode, I'm going to help you understand how to connect both EI and AI to get the exact result that you want from your marketing.

When it comes to evaluating the success of a marketing campaign, it is so important to prioritize data over feelings.
Yet, this is really difficult for many established organizations and quickly growing entrepreneurs.
You might think of this as a problem that businesses in the beginning stages tend to have, but based on my experience, it is an issue at all stages of business.
Because here's the truth: emotions can be really powerful. We've all experienced that in our lives. And it can lead us down the wrong path.
We need to rely on cold, hard facts, and objective data to make more informed decisions. And that really means taking a good look at metrics that maybe we're not used to looking at, like conversion rates, engagement levels, click through rates. And by doing so we can identify what's working and what's not, and adjust our strategies accordingly.
So that's what I will be sharing with you today in this episode. Stick with me if this is something that you know, you want to get better at!

As an entrepreneur who has seen extreme highs and the lowest of lows in the last 20 years, most, if not all of my most stressful moments have been rooted in the topic of money.
I remember when I was in my late 20s, I was at a Vistage meeting, which is a local CEO network of seven figure and eight figure business owners. And there was a moving company owner who was a veteran. And he had said that during the Gulf invasion, jumping out of planes was actually less stressful than what he was currently experiencing and not being able to make payroll.
That always stuck with me, as it was strangely reassuring that we all experienced that financial stress.
I currently have the strongest business I've ever had financially. And that's mainly because I spent the first 15 years of being an entrepreneur, honestly, just trying to figure out the money part.
And money is a hot topic right now. The stock market is about to go on sale, inflation is increasing, there's talks of layoffs at this time of recording.
So today, I want to share with you my biggest lessons learned from my most favorite book called The Psychology of Money. Stick around to hear more.

In the internet marketing world, we tend to be hyper focused on the front end and don’t stop to think about the leaky back end until we get to a certain point where we realize that we are filling this bucket, and then all of the water is just pouring out of the bottom.
This usually happens when you cross the six-figure mark and start creeping towards seven-figures.
Today my guest was my very best friend, Shana Bresnahan, Community & Retention Strategist. She helps people with online programs, courses, memberships, group programs to enhance experience.

Something you might not know about me is that over the last few years I've been building a successful consultancy that serves both financially prosperous for-profit seven and eight figure brands, as well as nonprofit organizations.
While nonprofits have this incredible value of being mission driven, they tend to struggle with driving awareness and lack the systems to predictably increase enrollments. By applying methods typically reserved for the for profit businesses, we've been able to create something really unique and effective.
Among my many clients is the University of Notre Dame's Lab for Economic Opportunity. This is an incredible partnership that applies what I have learned in the for-profit world into the nonprofit sector.
For all of the for profit minded folks who are tuning in-this is a fascinating look at how nonprofits are embracing tried and true for-profit strategies to power up their lead generation.
This is a rebroadcast of a LinkedIn live where I spoke with Heather Reynolds, Managing Director at Wilson Sheehan Lab for Economic Opportunities and Dave Keil, President of Franworth about the work that we're doing.

In a recent article on LinkedIn News called 41 Big Ideas That Will Change Our World in 2023, number 21 was that social media users will turn their back on the algorithm. Turned off by the trolls and burnt out by the pressure of chasing likes, consumers will begin to reconsider their relationship with big social networks and smaller sites will start gaining popularity.
These will create the safe spaces people really miss from the early days of the internet. And they want to go back to those intimate digital environments.
This transitions nicely into what I predict will be the third trend that you really need to be aware of when marketing your business in 2023, which is a truth more than it is a trend.
And that is the magic of human connection.
I believe that it's the results that come through connection that's often missing from most marketing and sales efforts. And as a result, people are struggling, their launches aren't doing as well and enrollments are down.
They think it's because of the way in which the world has changed in the last few years, and they're not wrong.
But most importantly, what's often missing from this analysis is how much of the marketing and sales efforts that have taken place online in the last few years has become extremely impersonal and dehumanized.
So in today's podcast episode, I'll be sharing with you the third and final truth that you need to know about marketing your business and 2023 and beyond.

According to the National Council for Behavioral Health, over 70% of adults in the United States have experienced some kind of traumatic event at least once in their lives.
A very severe reaction to traumatic events can stem from childhood abuse or neglect, war and other forms of violence, physical, emotional, or sexual abuse, accidents, natural disasters, grief and loss, witnessing violence, cultural, intergenerational and historical trauma and medical interventions.
I think about this often in my marketing, as funny as that may sound - because there is very much a connection between the two.
Many people experienced extreme trauma during the pandemic. They lost people that they loved, or at least knew of somebody who lost somebody that they love. So when we're marketing, and we're selling to the general public, it's important for us to know and realize that we are selling to people who’ve experienced trauma. And as a marketer, I try to stay as trauma informed as possible.
So how do we operate as marketers with integrity in this post traumatic world that we are living in? How do we approach things so that we are not only helping and creating a new possibility for people who might not even know what's on the other side of their healing, but that we're calling them forward in a way that is relevant, that has a high level of integrity and is helpful?
I want to share with you some of my thoughts around this topic in this episode.

And then also managing all of the last minute newness that happens when you're doing something new for the first time and trying to compress all of the activities into a single 24 hour period.

In the midst of preparing for my book launch, recording these podcast episodes, and being a guest on other podcasts, I've had some heart stopping conversations that have really made me pause.
People are so consumed with the pressure to spend a lot of time on social media and because of everything that they're seeing, it's making them question if it's even worth building a business at all.
Some are so overwhelmed with trying to keep up with all of the demands and forge all of the paths forward, that they are ready to burn it to the ground.
They're seeing it as a race to grow their business. The “not enoughness" and the worry if they're doing it right and whether or not they're giving it the correct effort overwhelmed them because in their view, they've failed unless they can make enough money.
So in this last episode of my Win Win book series, I will discuss the secret to authentic growth.
For a limited time, if you preorder the book, you will receive a relationship marketing toolkit free of cost (valued at $1,200). Head to createyourwinwin.com and click on the preorder button. Then, go back to the website, put in your order number and look for your free training in your inbox.
The visibility stage of relationship marketing will be one of your most effective, lucrative and impactful efforts that you can do for your business.
So why is it that so many business owners tend to obsess over fans, followers and likes on social media and worry more about the reach of their most recent Instagram real then nurturing key relationships?
The reason is that most people just aren't pursuing relationship marketing in the right way.
They give up quickly and move on to the next marketing trend.
The result? Many businesses are fantastic and make their customers happy. But those same companies tend to be the best kept secret around because they struggled to gain visibility or they think that visibility is only made possible through significant public relations investments.
So, tune into this episode, the third in my Win Win podcast series, to hear about gaining visibility through partnerships.
For a limited time, if you preorder the book, you will receive a relationship marketing toolkit free of cost (valued at $1,200). Head to createyourwinwin.com and click on the preorder button. Then, go back to the website, put in your order number and look for your free training in your inbox.
“I am so frustrated with social media.”
“No one sees my content anymore after the last algorithm change.”
“I'm at a loss as to how to generate more customers for our company.”
“Paid advertising suddenly stopped working for us.”
These are the types of comments I hear daily from the brilliant experts and organizations that I'm honored to serve as a growth consultant and business strategist for.
Trying to grow your business by leveraging digital channels and social media is creating a whole heck of a lot of frustration across all industries.
So how do you grow your business? The answer is networking.
But for many people, networking is a massive barrier to creating relationships that make a positive impact on our businesses.
So tune into this episode to hear more about building a bank of goodwill.
For a limited time, if you preorder the book, you will receive a relationship marketing toolkit free of cost (valued at $1,200). Head to createyourwinwin.com and click on the preorder button. Then, go back to the website, put in your order number and look for your free training in your inbox.
Have you always wanted to write a book or have been walking around with a couple different book titles in you?
I know that was me for many years.
I wanted to share my story and be able to help other people. But for many of us, the idea of trying to get a book out the door, and published is very overwhelming, seemingly expensive and time consuming-it never really feels like the time is right.
So, I'm going to be starting a four part series on how I went about creating my book, the steps that I took, the decision making process and what the book will be about.
For a limited time, if you preorder the book, you will receive a relationship marketing toolkit free of cost (valued at $1,200). Head to createyourwinwin.com and click on the preorder button. Then, go back to the website, put in your order number and look for your free training in your inbox.

In the fast paced internet space that we live in, it feels like a different planet for a lot of people who are new to it.
Many of the companies coming to me are pretty unfamiliar with the acronyms and the terms that we use in our everyday language as internet marketers.
And I've heard more than once that the language creates a little bit of a learning curve for many people who are new to this, and they're trying to figure out which way is up.
Today, I'm going to be talking about one of those acronyms, which is called a VSL, a video sales letter.
When do you use it in your company? When is it effective? When is it ineffective? And how is that different from other types of strategies like webinars, challenges or masterclasses?

I'm here to say that they are very much alive.

“It was such an incredible experience. The way Laura teaches and mentors- if anybody listening has never really experienced that directly, Laura just has this calming presence. She could be talking about the most complicated thing and she makes it feel so relaxed and easy. She’s a fantastic teacher and able to present things in a way that just makes you feel like oh, of course, there's that option. Why didn't I think of that right there in front of me?”

I was recently in a conversation with a former client about a situation that she found herself in recently.
She really needed some support so I jumped in and provided my perspective.
And at the end of our messages back and forth, she asked me to please make a podcast episode on this exact topic.
So I took her advice- I’m recording a podcast episode on how to fire people well.
And what I'm going to share with you is a result of 20 years of experience, with a lot of lessons learned on how to do this better each time.
I want to help do this in a clear, respectful way so as to not let the situation get out of hand to the degree to which both of you are surprised by the outcome.

We have all had trolls in our life.
Negative people who have a chip on their shoulder or have something going on that maybe you don't know about.
In 20 years of entrepreneurship, I certainly have had my fair share.
I've had employees steal customer lists, intellectual property, and start their own businesses. I have been attacked online, by people I didn't even know.
So as somebody who is an entrepreneur who cares deeply about your audience and the experience that others have in your presence, how do you deal with this BS?
That's something that I want to share with you in today's podcast, which is how to have a high mindset when dealing with a negative person.

We've all heard of the idea of a case of mistaken identity.
This is when we mistake somebody or something for what they're not.
We laugh when we see little kids pull on a random shirt and say, “mommy”, when that shirt sleeve doesn't belong to their mommy.
We dismiss it as cute, but as we get older, sometimes that case of mistaken identity can happen with ourselves. In fact, I would propose that if it's not happening on a regular basis, you might want to look a little bit deeper.
On today’s podcast, I'll be sharing my own journey- my own case of mistaken identity. Make sure to listen!

Across the board, most assessments, articles and descriptions of entrepreneurs include risk taking as a primary characteristic. If you're an entrepreneur, you probably think big and take risks.
And you've been rewarded for that for most of your career.
While entrepreneurs certainly have a tendency and an appetite for risk in business, there might be times where we take risks, and at times, where we take what I would call high percentage shots.
Should you be taking big risks in the time of economic uncertainty? Are there different types of shots to take if you're winning or losing?
We'll talk a little bit more about that today on the Next Level Leap podcast.

There's many people out there that give lots of advice around how to survive a recession without actually having gone through it before.
But speaking from experience, in 2008/2009, I was very much in business.
And not only that, but I was running close to a million dollar photo studio operation.
At the time, I didn't realize the degree to which I was going through some really important lessons trial by fire.
And for those of you who have not experienced business ownership in a recession, what I want to share with you today may be very, very helpful in order for you to recession-ready your business.
Make sure to tune in!

Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard. Without labor, nothing prospers. Hard work betrays none.
Much effort, much prosperity.
These are cliches we've probably heard for many, many years, if not all of our lives.
And we may have even slipped and said it to our own children.
It's actually something that we need to take a little bit of a closer look at.
If we want to break through revenue plateaus in our business and ask ourselves, what the heck does this even mean? Is there some kind of underlying belief here that we need to let go of in order to be able to work smarter, not harder?
So, if you've been struggling in your business to break through plateaus that you know that you are capable of, but you've been struggling to figure out exactly how, this podcast is really going to help you.
I'll be sharing why, at a certain point in our business, working harder is actually probably the thing that's holding us back.

So many entrepreneurs want to invest in passive income streams.
But, I want to ask you - have you been sitting on an investment opportunity that you're not even aware of because you haven't actually taken the time to look at what could make it work more for you when you are not working?
We look at these magical people who work very little and have incredibly lucrative businesses and we think that maybe they've invested in the stock market or they've invested in real estate correctly or early on, or they got lucky.
But what if that big investment opportunity was sitting right in your business, in the form of high functioning assets?
In today's podcast episode, I'll be sharing the third stage of making those next level leaps in your business, which is high performing assets.

Planning is one of those things that everybody wants and when we're doing it we don't necessarily feel like it. And afterwards we rarely follow the plan.
So, what is the point of planning and how does this fold into the leap methodology that I have seen create remarkable results for clients?
In the last episode, I talked about having a limited focus and today I'm going to talk about establishing a plan, but probably not in the way you think.
So stay tuned in the next episode of the Next Level Leap podcast. We'll be talking about how to establish a plan that you can stick to that you'll like, that your brain will actually want to follow through with, and that will create the result that you want most in your business.
Last week, I introduced my new framework to you.
It's called the L.E.A.P Methodology, and it's something that I've been practicing with clients for many years now.
It took me some time and I'm so excited to share it with you.
And what I've found is that this is the methodology that creates massive leaps in businesses that are established, that have already gone through the proof of concept stage, and now they're looking to actually create more growth in their company by doing less.
Last week, I shared with you the overview of what the L.E.AP Methodology stands for.
Today, I'll be going through with you what the L in L.E.A.P stands for and why it is the most important place to start when actually creating massive growth in your company.
There’s a change coming! And you might have noticed it..
We have officially changed our podcast name. And it has been a really exciting iteration for a variety of different reasons, but mainly that I wanted a podcast that was more accurately reflective of the type of work that I am now doing with clients.
Scale with Joy was very much a great message when I had a client base that was struggling with overwhelm, struggling with the idea of how to get more joy back in their businesses and lives.
And while I still think that is a very valid concern of many of you who are listening, I'm also starting to work with some incubators, some nonprofits. I'm also starting to help consultants become better consultants or get their first consulting offer built and sold.
And so, as a result, I wanted a name that would more comprehensively depicts the type of work that I do across different platforms and reflects the actual model that I use in my business.
That's what I'm going to be sharing with you today in this next episode of the Next Level Leap podcast.
Are you a seven-figure entrepreneur who is thinking about an advisory/consulting style business? If so, you may have a lot of questions about it.

As an entrepreneur, you might find a tendency to experience a lot of resistance around planning.
I myself am kind of a planner deep down. But I think for a lot of us who are visionaries, we actually dislike the process.
We completely hate this idea of making decisions in advance because circumstances can change or we feel called to something else.
Or we come up with a great idea or get a new piece of information that changes our opinion.
Which is why so many of us resist it. But there’s a golden thread in planning and with this knowledge, you can move forward armed with the ways in which you can thrive with a plan, even as a visionary who craves creativity and new ideas.
If this is something that you've been struggling with, but you’re just not sure how to balance planning and the brilliance that makes you a visionary, stay tuned. Because I'm excited to share how you can make planning work for you starting today.

These shifts have turned into pretty unique challenges - and I’ve been hearing rumblings in the online space.
There's been a secret, underground conversation that's been happening amongst the high-level experts that I'm surrounded by, and even within our own community leadership team.

How much money are you leaving on the table by not having an ambassador program in your community, course or membership?
The truth is, we’re moving into an age where relationship marketing is front and center and there’s truly no more profitable way than to gain new clients or customers than through the successful relationships you already have built.
I’m frequently asked about and guide my clients through the process of creating their very own ambassador program.
And we actually run it very successfully within my second company, The Advance, which is a membership that is built on the premise that relationships build great companies. 30% of our current members come from existing members, which is an incredibly high statistic in comparison to most companies who are running ambassador programs.
So how do you know when it's time to create an ambassador program? What is an ambassador program and how does that differ from traditional affiliates? I’m going to be diving into this incredible conversation today to share my tips and tricks I’ve learned along the way.
And if you have no idea what to do or the steps to take, just go ahead and visit my site www.joybrandcreative.com and apply for a consultation. I'd love to answer any questions that you have and see if there's an opportunity for me to help you implement a program like this in your business or community.
How many subscription services are you signed up for right now? Between workout apps, streaming services and monthly subscription boxes, I’m sure the answer is at least 5. But have you thought about what makes subscription services so popular and why you keep signing up for them?

We’ve all had an experience in our lives when we step into a store to shop around and immediately get bombarded by a salesperson trying to sell you the latest and greatest.
Do you ever really purchase anything from them?

Today, I want to talk to you about unconditional love towards yourself.
For so many of us, the way that we talk about ourselves in our minds is awful. In fact, if we were out and about, and somebody actually said the things to us that we often said to ourselves, we would be so offended.
So why are we putting up with talking to ourselves in a way we wouldn’t allow anyone else to?
Especially when we are leading teams, when we are running companies, and even just our day-to-day lives?
What can we do about actually loving ourselves in the way that we expect other people to and leading that charge of unconditional love towards ourselves?
I’ll be chatting more about that today on the Scale with Joy podcast.

When we put ourselves out there and we build something important enough, big enough, powerful enough, inevitably there's going to be people who simply don't like it.
They don't like the way we've approached it. Maybe they're even people who were part of our network and then it turns out their vision was misaligned with our own. Those are often some of the hardest challenges to navigate in entrepreneurship.
One of the biggest challenges about facing criticism is that it gives us the sense that we have fallen short, dropped the ball along the way in building something we believed to be great. And while hearing constructive criticism can help us grow and evolve, allowing ourselves to use it as a tool and not absorb it as an irrefutable truth is a delicate balance.
So, how do you navigate criticism when you're scaling? Tune into this week's episode to find out!

In the midst of launching, growing, scaling, it's really natural and easy for us to be a rollercoaster of emotions.
One minute, everything's going great, and the next it's totally different than expected.
In fact, I don't think I've ever been part of a launch or an offer that went exactly the way that we thought it was going to. And as experienced as I am at marketing, I don't think anybody has a crystal ball quite at that level of accuracy.
So in today's podcast episode, I want to share with you the power of percentages.
I’ll be sharing the ones that I personally rely on for guiding my clients and how we stay tuned in to making sure that we hit every single number that we want to as closely as possible.
And if we don't, we know exactly what opportunities to improve as a result.

This isn't what I expected.
I don't know if I want to do this anymore.
I've built a business that I can't stand.
How do I know that I'm going to like what I'm building?
These are pretty common questions that entrepreneurs ask. And it's sometimes difficult to know if you are just in a challenging time in your business, or if you are working on the wrong stuff.
In this episode, I’m going to share how to know if you're on the path that is going to bring you joy at the end of the day or if you're heading down the wrong road.
Plus- I’ll talk about one of my favorite books that shaped my perspective on this very topic, The Dip, by Seth Godin.

On the path of entrepreneurship, there are many moments in which we, as business owners, find ourselves having to grow through something difficult.
This is often phrased in platitudes that make great Instagram quote squares. You have to look backwards before you move forwards. Get uncomfortable. Do the hard thing. Be brave! Take action.
But the truth of the matter is, the growth through those difficult times .. it's often simply embracing the suck.
Recently I've spoken about embracing the suck to many clients in my private client group. And I had my own experience with it that I'm reluctantly excited to share with you on today's podcast episode.
If you need a little comedic relief paired with an age-old business lesson, tune in to learn how to move through those difficulties and come out the other side stronger!

Before being able to give our all to our business, we have to be able to take care of ourselves.
We have to be able to know when our body needs a break, and take one without feeling guilty.
Most importantly, we need to be able to fuel our body with the nutrients it needs to get through the day.
I was joined today by Corinne Crabtree, Life & Weight Loss Coach. Corinne shares with us how she structures her day to optimize time and energy.

As business owners, we want it all.
We want things done quickly. And we want to get it right every single time.
But what isn't typically spoken about is the level of grace and responsibility required in our lives and business in order to balance leadership with understanding and action with outcomes.
Which is truly necessary for transforming into the leader we need to become.
But how do we lead through this tension of grace and responsibility?
Make sure to tune into this episode where I'll share the key to balancing these critical components like your growth depends on it, because it does.

Many entrepreneurs see a new idea as an opportunity to jump in, get the head start before somebody else thinks of it, and implement it so that they can sell it as quickly as possible.
With very low barriers to entry and new ideas coming out by the millisecond, there are already more fresh products and services that you want to bring to market then you typically have time to implement.
So how do you know that you and your team are ready to try something new?
How do you make sure that you don't become a victim of the dangerous side of business growth?

For so many of you, hiring in the marketing and sales function of your company is so painful.
And you've probably been wondering, why is this so difficult? Why do I have such a hard time finding the right person to be able to fill this spot? I just need somebody who's going to take it over and make it happen and bring in the revenue. Why can't I just find that person?
I hear that a lot. And in this podcast episode, I want to share how I have approached this same challenge with my own company while scaling The Advance Women's Expert Network, as well as how I advise my clients who are exclusively seven figure business owners on how to make that necessary marketing hire in their business.

While scaling a company, we as leaders often need to figure out how to become new versions of ourselves.
Bolder, brighter, more challenging our fears, less caring about what other people think, stronger.
We need to be able to identify our own weaknesses and to get out of our own way. Maybe repair a past relationship or improve our relationship with ourselves so we’re not holding ourselves back. Then developing new skill sets, both the hard skills and the soft skills of becoming a leader.
In my journey of leading multiple 6 and 7 figure businesses, I’ve found that at certain points in the company's growth, the company not only often outgrows the leader but the leader has to level up their skillset to keep up with the growth of the company. This presents the opportunity to learn new things and adopt new strategies.
And when this happens with a team, this often shows up with drama.
Want to scale without the drama? Be sure to tune into this episode.

Here’s the truth: most strategic planning sessions are TERRIBLE.
If you’ve followed any of them, you've sat in a room where everybody looks at numbers on a whiteboard or a flip chart, all thinking differently about the process and full of thoughts that are likely not beneficial to the outcome at all.
But if we’re looking at it honestly, we as women are intuitive.
We need to feel aligned with our work, and are driven very much by the thoughts that we have about what it is we're looking to accomplish. None of which is included in any of the popular strategic planning processes that are regularly used at the multimillion-dollar mark.
Now that I'm scaling up to seven figures again myself, I've been thinking deeply about how I want to do it differently this time.

As a brand strategist, I love branding. I love the look and feel of something and the impact that you get to have on the world when you have a powerful brand.
The world has become a noisy place. Since the pandemic, everything has moved online. You've got to be even more clear about what you do. You have to have a great hook and message that you package up in a really unique way.
I was telling all my clients this, and then I thought to myself, am I actually taking my own advice? My previous brand was nice, but as it got noisier and noisier online, I found myself asking my own question of, “Is what I'm putting out there strong enough or powerful enough to really be able to grab somebody's attention immediately and bring them into my world?”
That’s why I wanted to create this bonus episode to share a little bit about the behind the scenes of why you saw a switch in the header and the description of this podcast, the name of the podcast, and also my website. This has been a long time coming and something I'm very excited to share with you.
If you have a multimillion dollar brand, or you aspire to have one that you can multiply, not only your own income but the amount of people that you will help, hit that subscribe button now so you don’t miss an episode.

Today’s podcast episodes will challenge all of us who are entrepreneurs, leaders, CEOs with an important question.
Which of the below comes first in your life?
Many entrepreneurs struggle with the default answer of #1 - that business always comes first because there is always something to tend to as leaders that feels ultra-urgent, and there is often some kind of fire that needs to be put out when we are running a growing business.
Today's interview is brimming with words of wisdom from Russ Perry, Founder & CEO of Design Pickle, and his wife and podcast co-host, Mika Perry. They share how prioritizing the business negatively affected their relationship and why their marriage was almost over before they managed to save it.
Interestingly enough, this realization was a foray into the most profitable, meaningful work of their lives and served as the impetus to Russ scaling his company to eight figures in revenue in a very short period of time.

In the last few weeks, I’ve been listening to my favorite DJ, D-Nice, on his weekly Club Quarantine via Instagram Live for some good throwback homeschool jams. My kids aren’t quite as enthralled with my taste in music as I had hoped, but at ages six and seven, I figure that they still have time to become indoctrinated with high hip-hop royalty.
Which leads me into the idea of being a parent and a business owner and a homeschooler and a fill-in-the-blank during this crazy time. All, while letting go of the guilt around not being enough.
Is there a how-to-guide available for this?
Fortunately for us, Lauren Golden, Founder and CEO of The Free Mama and The Free Mama Movement, started her company just a few years ago with the mission of helping moms build their own home-based businesses and living guilt-free lives.
In this episode, Lauren shares how she:
Built a movement on the idea that 9-5 jobs are preventing women from winning at work and being fully present mom at home.
Scaled her own business to seven figures in just 18 months while reassessing her own mission of scaling with FREEDOM at each level.
Is the majority shareholder in both her life and business
If you're looking for motivation or a sign that you should focus on working on your OWN business and personal goals during your own personal club quarantine, this episode is perfect for you!

In the last few weeks, everything has changed. People have changed. Their needs have changed, businesses have changed, and the world around us has shifted fast.
The one thing you need to do to stay relevant in this new world is to create a deeper connection with your clients, customers, and prospects.
In this podcast episode, I share three ways in which you can shift your marketing message to do so.
The business that you're running came out of your heart, and if you can tap into that deeper why and use it as a point of connection, you'll find that people will respond.
And when everything goes back to “normal”, it will be your business that they remember.

Bryan Klein, Founder & CEO of The Max Challenge, made the decision to close all 80+ of his locations and switch to an online model before non-essential businesses were ordered to close.
Three days after making the decision to switch to online classes, Bryan and his team had already created training materials for their franchises. Three days after that, they had created a library of prerecorded fitness classes.
He felt a social responsibility to keep both his customers and instructors healthy and safe. The Max Challenge has also offered to lower all membership dues by 25% and help any customers who may be struggling financially with their dues.

When the market for photography businesses became too saturated and her income started to drop fast, Jamie Swanson was terrified and stressed. That’s when she decided to pivot.
The best decision she made was to join a community and surround herself with successful entrepreneurs, allowing her to keep track of what’s happening in her industry and others that are doing well. This, in turn, helped her stay innovative, which became a huge turning point for her business.
Jamie likens that moment when she finally realized what she needs to do to keep her business growing to that moment when Hagrid hands Harry Potter his Hogwarts letter and tells him that he’s a wizard (in the first Harry Potter book and movie’s redemptive, enlightening, magical.

The number one question you should ask yourself right now is, “How can I serve those who need me in a unique way?”
Many of us are struggling with uncertainty during this crisis and are worried about the health and wellness of our loved ones. In addition to worrying about your family, you may also be worried about your business.
This may come as a surprise to you, but I had some of my best years during hard times.
I built and scaled a seven-figure business during the recession by spotting the gap in the market and filling it.
If you have the ability to pivot, or you can figure out how to shift your message – that opens possibility to serving your clients in a new and unique way. I share quite a bit about how to do this in this podcast episode.
If you feel like you need help doing this, or just want to chat, please don’t hesitate to reach out by emailing me at hello@joybrandcreative.com.

Did you know that when the great plague of London was going around in 1665, Cambridge University shut down and Issac Newton was forced to stay home? During this time, he invented calculus, parts of optic theory and allegedly, while sitting in his garden, he saw an apple fall from a tree, which inspired his understanding of gravity.
This is not to make light of recent events but WOW - it shows how so much can happen when we begin to think about what is possible when the unexpected happens.
This week on Scale with Joy, Cathy Deano talks about how she co-founded Painting with a Twist at the age of 55 with Renee Maloney to help rebuild their community after a crisis: Hurricane Katrina.
Despite over 300 locations now open, Cathy has managed to still not let herself be dragged too far from her creativity, where she is the happiest!
One of Cathy and Renee’s secrets was to bring in the right people to run their franchising business who not only could keep anticipating steps forward, but also valued the company’s strong culture. They covered all their C’s by hiring new members into their C-suite who can help them pick the right franchise.
Tragically, in the middle of growing her business, Cathy’s husband passed away. Her loving business partner and colleagues made this tragedy a little easier by taking care of the daily operations of the company, and by providing her with support when she needed it most.

Shannon Wilburn, CEO & Co-Founder of Just Between Friends, grew her consignment business with her biz partner, Daven Tackett, from their first sale in her living room and $2000 in sales to a franchise system with 151 locations in 32 states and is on track to exceed 34 Million in system wide sales this year. Whoa!
Today, Shannon talks about who are the RIGHT people to go to for business advice and HOW she was able to create a panel of experts in her own company who are available whenever she needs them without having to spend a fortune!
She decided to start an advisory board, which consists of four members with different levels of expertise who meet quarterly for a couple of hours to discuss the business. They have standing agenda items which they tend to each meeting, and then go into discussing new business.
For Shannon, her advisory board was about finding the right people to help guide and grow her business. She was looking for a good fit in a trusted advisor instead of someone who didn’t have the time and means to dedicate to her.

This week, I was joined by my longtime friend, Founder and CEO of inkWELL Press Productivity Co., and author of “The Joy of Missing Out”, Tonya Dalton.
Tonya started her career as a kindergarten teacher, then transitioned into owning a jewelry company, and finally started her second company inkWELL Press Productivity Co., which became a seven-figure business within 18 months of its launch.
As a mother and CEO, Tonya has had to learn how best to live her most purposeful life without becoming a victim of mom guilt. In her interview, she made an important observation about how limiting beliefs always include the words “always” or “never”. For example “a good mom always packs her kids’ lunch” or “a good mom never stays late at work.” It was up to her to change what her image of an ideal mom was, and to construct her own image for what worked best for her family. Owning a successful business does not mean sacrificing time with your family.
She first came up with what she calls her “north star”, a combination of her mission, vision, and core values. With that in mind she crafted her schedule for her business and family. As Tonya said in her interview, CEO does not mean chief everything officer! It’s important to delegate when needed. It’s not about saying no, but it’s about what you say yes to.
Tonya also spoke about the choice we have over our own lives. We chose how we spend the day, but as she points out, it’s important to zoom out and look at the hours in the week, rather than focus on the limited hours of the day. Productivity isn’t about doing more, it’s about what’s important to you.
Because moms are the CEO of business’, and often, the house, Tonya wrote her book for women. Her book will help you identify your priorities and organize your life with resources and printables. It was named one of the top 10 business books of the year by Fortune magazine.
You can buy a copy of Tonya’s book “The Joy of Missing Out: Live More by Doing Less” at https://joyofmissingout.com/. Follow her on Instagram or Facebook @tonya.i.dalton.

This week, I covered the customer journey.
Everyone has a different version of this, but over the years I have developed my own version that I now use in my own brand and with all my clients.
The steps for the customer journey are as follow: awareness, engagement, enrollment, activation, expansion and advocacy.
I also discussed the term empathy marketing. This is walking in your customers shoes to better understand their needs and wants. The best type of selling/marketing is helping.
By helping your clients navigate through their customer journey, you will create joy in your life and work on your business instead of living in it.

This week, I covered how to break through to freedom while running a business.
Here are some topics I covered:
A couple of years ago, my husband and I read the book Living Forward by Daniel Harkavy and Michael Hyatt. In this book, Harvkavy and Hyatt ask readers to complete an exercise: write your own eulogy. While this exercise required a lot of deep thinking, it is an excellent exercise to do if you are interested in putting your life and business in perspective.
The Dash: a poem by Linda Ellis. The front of the dash is the year, date and time you were born and the year, date and time you pass is the end of the dash. What do you want the middle of your dash to hold for you and your business?
This week, I’m going to give you a little exercise. Write down a one-page vision of what you want for your business. Then, write down everything that is stopping you from getting there.
