We often prefer to talk to someone in a language we’re comfortable with. It deepens the bond we’ve with them. The native language is often the fastest way to connect to a local native in the area.
Is there a language through which we can connect with our Heavenly Father and more with our best friend the HS? Join us as we learn more about speaking in tongues with the HS in Week 7 - The Language of Friendship of our series #BFF Best Friends Forever in this final instalment by Dr Danny Simon.
I am pretty sure I can snap a string but snapping a few together is going to be difficult. And it will be impossible to cut through a well-knitted cloth with my hands. There's stuff we cannot do on our own; the Holy Spirit knows just how to get it done, and He wants to help us do those things.
Find out more in Week 6 - Empowered of the series #BFF by Dr Danny Simon.
So we know about what gives us the tingles when we look at someone attractive 😏. And we know what it is like when we fall in love with someone... That's a big one by the way 👀.
But is that all that's there to a relationship? Or could there be another dimension that's unseen to most of us? The Holy Spirit might just be waiting on this curiosity for Him to pour out wisdom that is unheard of!
Join us to listen to 'The 3 levels of Relationship' in the series #BFF by Dr Danny Simon, this being Week 5.
One of the most basic understandings in a relationship involves respecting the other person’s feelings. How can a relationship move further if we end up hurting each other? We just looked at how the Holy Spirit has a mind and will of His own last Sunday. So, what about His emotions?
Join us in #BFF in Week 4- He's a Person Part 2 by Dr Danny Simon
If you share a real relationship with others, you know you have to look at them as unique individuals. They're people and not objects. We interact with each other keeping in mind each other's likes, dislikes and everything in between.
Our best friend always knows what's up with us... Sometimes.. all it takes is one look for them to know everything. And what makes them special is that they have just the right words for us for that moment.

Gamers assemble! You know how we play video games and there's a map to show us where to go and we have indicators to gain XP and potions... Without these, we'd be so lost. Life becomes easier when we have a guide to walk us through what's to be done. But instead of just indicating to us, we have someone who speaks to us directly and clearly nonetheless. Instead of riddles and cheat codes, this certain someone speaks into our lives in just the way we will understand. It's exciting how someone unseen is yet so tangible and actively working in our lives.
Check out this week's message 'He Speaks' in Week 2 of the series '#BFF Best Friends Forever' by Dr Danny Simon.
Your best bud knows everything in and out about you and if their really intending good for you, they will help you when you need it and correct you when you do wrong. The Holy Spirit literally dwells with us and He chooses to stand on our behalf. God makes an active decision to forgive and forget our sins when we return to Him. But wait a minute... How can we listen to what the Holy Spirit has to say? And how do we follow His lead?
These answers can be found in week 1 of our series "Best Friends Forever" titled "He Helps" by Dr Danny Simon.
Ignorance is not always bliss. Despite it being essential in every relationship, being a good listener is dying at this age. We often don't train our ears to listen but rather to project out our answers and opinions. Not having time to listen to the people around you or wanting to speak in self-defence are traits of a poor listener. What more do you think makes a poor listener? And what does it take to be a good one?
Check out the message "Good Listener" by Pastor Mathew George to learn more!
What would you do for a person you're grateful for? It could be someone who guided you or maybe even helped you when you were in dire need of it. What if this person saved your life at the cost of losing someone he loved at that? Some acts of kindness and love go beyond what words can explain. What God did for us on the cross is a gesture of love like no other and the only befitting response from us for being saved from death would be to surrender our lives to Him. So let's ask ourselves this... Do we really thirst for God when we do whatever we do? Is it Him in our minds while we interact with people?
"I Thirst" is a message by Shekaina Thomas that covers more than just this.
Remember those movie scenes when the commander gives a peculiar order to his unit and still follows it through, even if they don't know the big picture? Trusting in God sometimes takes us through those tests of faith when we have to believe what He says even if it doesn't sound logical. But the assurance we have is that no matter what we face, His word stands true despite what people say and despite what deep pit we are in—still looking for some more encouragement?
Check out the message "Trusting In God" by Arpith Mathew.
Experiencing the Resurrection Life comes in phases. Like any other relationship, we have to start be knowing the person. In this case, Christ. What's next is finding freedom... What's difficult to face alone, becomes easier with the right support. Now that you're free from what held you down, it's time to discover your purpose! And with it, you make a difference.

A purpose-driven life is fulfilling. Discovering your gift and your direction will help you achieve this. Think of what gets you excited. What is it that you enjoy doing? You know you have a certain skill set. Take the first step towards honing them. You have them to use them. Don't hide them under a rug. Still, got doubts and questions?
Join us in Week 10 - Knowing My Purpose of iDream as we wrap up this series with Dr Danny Simon.
Forgiveness is like insurance we have received from God. No matter how far we run away if we turn back to Him and confess, our sins are all covered. Even when it comes to people, we're set free when we forgive others. We don't forgive someone who is right, we forgive someone who has wronged us. Carrying grudges or hurts from the past becomes extra baggage which can cause us to break down unexpectedly. The sooner we let it go, the easier it'll be for us to fully operate in God's plan in our lives.
Find out more in Week 9- 'The Forgiveness Factor' of the series 'iDream!' by Dr Danny Simon.
God has the best of business plans and here's why. When we pay a loan, we pay back the principal amount with certain interest to the lender. But when we honour God with our tithe, He blesses the rest of our money. But it isn't just about seeing our possessions multiply... It's a sign of genuine devotion towards the giver of all possessions, who rightfully deserves what belongs to Him. This sounds way different from what we see around us, doesn't it?
"Who's first" from our series "iDream" by Dr Danny Simon will help explain this better. Check it out!
With promotion comes the power for change and influence. But have you thought of where its power comes from? Who does it last with and why should they have this power? It's true that hard work plays a key role in achieving a promotion but what makes it last is God allowing it. He gives power to the humble, who choose to accept they don't know it all. And through them, He brings breakthroughs into the lives who need it.
"The Promotion" is week 7 of our series iDreamby Dr Danny Simon elaborates on this...check it out!
Contrary to popular belief, life isn't a mystery. Not every answer is given to us our hands, but we have the perfect guidebook to lead us to our destination. And it will test us in our obedience until it's time for promises to unfold. Sometimes we make wrong choices, which leads us astray from where we should be going. It takes patience and obedience to see God's perfect will unravel in our lives.

Trials aren't a happy place. But think of it this way... When you face one, know that it's going to make you better. The Devil doesn't have much he can drag you down with when you realise it's the same lies he uses to trap you. So instead of trying to work things out on your own, trust that the process is God's way to prepare you for a position He has kept for you.

The feeling of messing up time and again gathers guilt in us. The beauty of God's saving grace is that He will forgive you and welcome you in, no matter how many times it takes. Porn and other sex-related addictions are not easy to get rid of. But when you make the active choice to repent, God will not shun you away.
Join us to hear more on the deception of porn in Week 4: Maintaining Purity from the series 'iDream!' by Dr Danny Simon.
When we disobey God, it opens a door for the Devil to work in our life. But what do we do? We're prone to sin! Here's what's comforting though... It's true we find it difficult to walk in 100% obedience to God. However, when we still choose to do so, come the time we sin, if we repent, God will forgive us. Find out more on how you can live the successful dream God has given you in week 3 "Being Faithful" from our series iDream by Dr Danny Simon.
Many who have great callings have seen great falls because their character didn't match their calling. God doesn't want that to happen to us. He convicts us to remind us that the plan is still on, but there are things we have to change in our lives for it to come to pass. This is way different from what the Devil does. He will go on to condemn you saying you don't deserve great plans because you messed up. Remember this though... God does not take back the gifts He blesses you with. He wants you to fulfil the dreams He has given you!
Check out the message- "Avoiding Potholes" from the series "iDream" by Dr Danny Simon to understand how God convicts us and why potholes play a part in it!
It would be so much easier if we knew what our purpose was in life, wouldn't it? Here's the good news! Just as how we can go ask a map maker any questions about the maps he makes, we have access to God who has given us this life. God gives us dreams not for us to brag about them but to reach positions where we can extend His hand of compassion to others. What do we do with the dreams God has for us... Is it all that's there to it? How do we fulfil them?
Join us as we start a brand new series entitled 'iDream!' in Week 1 - Turning Pride Off by Dr Danny Simon.
Let's be honest, there is nothing as good as a relationship where you can be open to someone. Real relationships always start with God. It takes courage to be in a real relationship because it rightfully demands much. So instead of living a relationship-driven by fear that keeps us on the defensive, let's begin with an honest start!
Tune into 'Real Relationships' by Pastor Mathew George.
"We learn by experience," they say... But there are memories we need to leave behind to move forward. It takes effort. It takes faith to say no to the past that can dominate our present. The same holds good for our future too. We get too caught up thinking about the future that we miss out on what the present can give us. Do you feel you are "Not Living In The Present"?
Tune in as we listen to 'Not Living in the Present' by Arpith Mathew
The beauty of faith is that it shifts our focus from what our situation demands to what God is capable of doing. Fasting and praying act like a reset button that clears the foggy view of uncertainty and confusion. It helps us refresh our relationship with God and obey Him not out of fear or routine but rather by love.
Tune in to listen to 'Awakening' by Dr Danny Simon.
New year resolutions and the phrase "New Year New Me" are trending at this time of the year. Changes begin when we take an active step towards transforming our situation. Do you feel like you're trapped in a prison? God can even use your very prison to change your lives and the ones around you. That sounds bizarre, doesn't it?
How can something as suppressing as a prison can make a huge difference? Tune in as we listen to 'Facing 2022' by Dr Danny Simon.
Marriage is God's idea! It is a representation of commitment, communion and devotion. A perfect marriage is not when two people are in communion but three— the husband, wife and God Himself. It is blessed and led by God to fulfil greater plans that glorify Him and it in itself is a testament of what Godly love is. We wrap up this series by covering the aspect of why Marriage is not just a legal certificate in part 6- "Taking The Vows".
Join us in the final part of this series 'Love, Sex & Marriage' in Week 6 titled 'Taking the Vow'
It wouldn't leave people deeply hurt when they are violated sexually if sex was just a physical activity. These scars remain as trauma and insecurities for a long time until a victim can find some closure. It isn't confined to being a sexual activity either. This is why people find themselves attached to a person they have been involved with sexually, even if it were to be a one-time thing. The whole idea of sex is far deeper than what we see through media and culture.
Join us as we listen to 'Damaged Goods' in Week 6 of "Love, Sex & Marriage" by Dr Danny Simon
There are all kinds of sex that we have heard about through culture. It's almost normal for people to lose their virginity at a young age and involve in hook-ups or one night stands. Being casual about sex can eventually hurt us. Indulging in porn will take away the stimulation and charm of having sex with one person in real life. So among all of these "kinds" of sex, what can actually be glorious?
Join us as we listen to Week 4 in the series 'Love, Sex & Marriage' about 'Glorious Sex' by Dr Danny Simon
We've often heard the phrase "all men are the same" and at the same time, we've heard some very demeaning titles people call women. Culture at times reduces a woman to terms like a bitch or a slut. And porn portrays them in the same light. To respect someone means to "assign" honour to them. Love does not dishonour anybody, instead, it honours them. We are to honour women, just as we honour men not only because they deserve it but because they were created in the likeness of God.
Tune in as we take a look at how Jesus revolutionized culture in Week 3 of this series 'Love, Sex & Marriage' titled 'Definitely Male' by Dr Danny Simon.
This is God's promise to us- we will never walk alone. God is the infinite source of living water that grants us peace and spiritual strength no matter what comes our way. The solution to our problems is to listen to what God has to speak to us in those times. Join us as we listen to "Be Faithful" by Dr Ajit Cherian
Struggle will be a common factor in every stage of our lives. Honouring God however, invites divine promotion. Knowing this makes one thing clear, we need to understand and carry the identity of we being the children of God. We cannot level up until we overcome our present challenges. How do we gear up to face them? Check out the message ' Tide Over Your Challenges' by Dr. Ajit Cherian that encourages us to be winners in life.
Growing up we’ve heard fairy tale stories on how they fell in love, married and lived happily ever after. Does that happen in real life? Is it possible? Are there things that I need to work on me that requires to have that perfect relationship?
God established a perfect relationship with us through His Son Jesus Christ, can I do the same with the relationships that are there around me? Tune in as we take a look at 'The Perfect Relationship' in Week 2 of the series, 'Love, Sex & Marriage' by Dr. Danny Simon
We are meant to have relationships with people but that can get tricky sometimes. Past experience and expectations can often affect us to the point of making a conscious choice to stay away from any human connection.
But does it happen that way? We will find ourselves longing for love if we remain isolated. As we look forward to having relationships with people, it also is necessary that we prepare ourselves too!
Join us as we begin this new series on 'Love, Sex & Marriage' in Week-1 'Falling in Love' by Dr. Danny Simon
Weather apps normally help us predict the forecast depending on the climate. Is it possible to detect the forecast of what a relationship will look like based on the emotional climate present?
Relationships are among the most important things God has blessed us with. Our relationship with our parents, friends and family in many ways shape us. Our climate in each relationship changes with regard to each person we deal with. Are there any relationship climates we wish to see improve or change? We might even have to ask the ones in concern, what is it like for them to be around us.
Join us as we learn more about emotional climates in 'What's the Weather?' by Dr Danny Simon.
We have all played video games of some sort or at least know how they work. With each level up comes a new grade of difficulty we have to clear. It's pretty much the same with us climbing the ranks in life too. When God takes us to the next level of growth and learning, it comes with its own difficult set of brokenness. This doesn't make us weak but on the contrary, strengthens us to face what's ahead of us, head on! God knows we are all unique, He made us that way! This is why, neither can we compare our brokenness to someone else's, nor does God subject each of us to the same kind of breaking.
Join us in the finale of the series 'Under Authority' in Week 17 - Unfair Treatment by Pastor Mathew George.
We cannot discern wisely when we're confused. Learning to submit to true authority helps us to think clearly. Often times we won't even understand the decisions of a leader. God hides the wisdom behind it on purpose to test our obedience. We are called to obey even while we can't make sense of our leader's decisions.
Rest assured, the heart of our leader lies in God's hands. As we follow what they say to the dot, we will also realise God is more concerned about His authority being established in our hearts than for us to execute our own ideas to do His work.
Join us as we try to understand our authorities in Week 16 of the series 'Under Authority' by Pastor Mathew George.
Submission is one of the most misunderstood subjects. Is obedience unconditional? What if I don’t agree with the leader? What if the leader makes wrong decisions? What if I am asked to do something wrong? Where do I draw the line? Obedience is external while the submission is internal. The key to God’s treasure house lies in submission. Not only the external action but the internal attitude matters.
Join us as we continue in our series on Under Authority in Week 15, 'Challenges of Submission' by Pastor Mathew George.
The way we treat our leaders directly indicates how we look at God. When we honour authority that is ordained by Him, we reciprocate our honour to God as well. It doesn't matter if our leaders are in the wrong, we honour the position and not the person. It is not our place to judge our leaders. God, who placed them in that position will also deal with their wrongdoing.
Join us as we learn more about the benefits of being under authority in Week 14 of 'Under Authority' by Pastor Mathew George.
We all have a God-given purpose and often times the only people that stop us from achieving that is ourselves. Fear and insecurities keep us bound from moving forward. But it's our willingness to simply say yes to what God is asking us to do is that will take us forward and achieving all that God has asked us to do.
Tune in and listen to 'Unstoppable' from Dr Danny Simon.
Ever heard of the story where a horse felt proud while he carried a king on his back and thought that everyone was bowing to him? It isn't to the horse that people were bowing but to the king he carried. I've always wondered why do we have an acknowledgement page at the start of every report or thesis? It's us who do most of the hard work, why then give a lot of prestige and honour to others, some of whom we've hardly met?
In retrospect, why did we have to stand up and sing 'good morning sir....' whenever our principal walked into our class? Why do we have to treat our boss with respect? Just like the horse, are we mistaken that it's not always us, but also those who have authority over us, who deserve our respect? Or was the horse right in his thinking?
Join us as we learn more from the series Under Authority by Pastor Mathew George in 'Spiritual Authority-IV'.
Ever been the monitor of your class in your high school days? The thought of being the class monitor was so tempting and seemed to be lucrative, but when we think of the pressure it brings with it, everything gets ugly. The behind our back criticisms, losing our friends, the pressure of pleasing teachers and escaping their tempers, the stress of being sandwiched, all the false accusations and many more just prove that the position isn't worth the try. But what happens if there isn't any monitor at all?
Taking responsibility and being under someone's authority is always painful, and the more you submit, the more the pain and pressure, so why do it? To maintain stability and order, few of us are given powers over others, and with power comes responsibility and pressure. Also, the people who are under that authority have to subject themselves. In the end, we all work for a common good, to maintain stability, peace, order and discipline. Why do you think the Indian constitution not only gives us the citizens not only fundamental rights but also fundamental duties?
Join us as we look more into the subject of Under Authority in Spiritual Authority Part 3 by Pastor Mathew George.
We have been gathering online for the last three days to intercede for the different churches under the NLF leadership and we will be culminating our missions week with this Sunday's service as we remember the Great Commission.

Remember the days when we felt that our father is a superhero, or our mom is the most beautiful. How we used to think that our parents are perfect. It's only when we grow up we realize that they're imperfect. They're humans just like you and me and it gets worse when we see them make mistakes, and those mistakes impact us. It's horrible when sometimes they realize their mistakes and refuse to change. It comes to a point that we begin to hate them for who they are and all the mistakes they make. But,...
Do we stop loving them? Did they ever stop loving us? Just think of all the things they've done for us, all the sacrifices, hard work, and every mistake we made that they blindly overlooked and patiently corrected.
How wrong would it be to just say that they are bad people just because they make mistakes? We need to stick by them, hold their hand and support them when needed. Even with our spiritual guides, we need to stand by their side and support them even when they're wrong. They're humans and make mistakes, does that mean they're unfit to lead us anymore?
Join us as we look more into coming 'Under Authority' in Week 11 Spiritual Authority Part 2.
"Happiness is.....a cup of rich coffee, or a piece of rich chocolate pastry, or a long ride with a friend, or......" the list goes on. We see such phrases quite often in our stories and statuses. This means that certain things can affect us positively or negatively. That goes to show that there's someone who is wrapped by the flesh and blood, someone who influences the body as well as is influenced by the body, it's our spirit, it's the true us.
How wonderful would it be if we could tap into our inner being's full potential so that we are more productive, more joyful, more healthy and live life to its fullest?
God loves us and wants us to have such a life and so has placed such people in our lives who can help us reach our maximum potential. We need to recognize them, humble ourselves and submit to them. Only then will we grow our inner being.
Join us as we continue the series on 'Under Authority' by Pastor Mathew George in Week 10 - Spiritual Authority.
There always comes a time in a son's life when he looks at his father with respect and awe and says 'what a man'. A few years later in his late teens, he again looks at his dad and says 'what a man', but this time disgusted and ashamed. Every mom whose arms were so comforting and everything she said was music soon became a pest in your life.
Does that mean that after a certain age, children grow wiser than their parents? Why then do parents keep instructing and advising their children over and over again about stuff they already know? Don't they know that children grow up to become adults? Why don't they understand? How long will it feel like a heavyweight being tied around one's neck? How can one live with such annoying people? When will they realize how wise and learned their children are, and start giving them the space and respect they deserve? WHEN???
(sigh)......Just out of curiosity, isn't there a teeny tiny possibility that we're missing out on something? Is our perspective the absolute truth? Come on, they're mom and dad.......think again.....
Join us on this Global Parents Day as we hear from the series Under Authority in Week 9 Parental Authority by Pastor Mathew George.
Did it ever happen in your class that a small doubt from a classmate, bamboozled the teacher and made her doubt her concepts? How often do we hear stories of how just one employee changed the entire company's management and structure? Do such things happen only in movies? Think again...
We live in a realistic world where the only thing that is constant is change. You have the potential to affect the people around you, your teachers, seniors, boss and authorities. The question is do we want to take the pain of bringing a change where it seems impossible? If so, how do we do it all by ourselves?

Did you know that in some severe burn injury cases, if the patient's internal organs are badly burnt, they are not allowed to drink water for a few days till the doctor deems it safe? Sometimes the patient has a severe urge to drink, he or she becomes very thirsty but has to control it, if not the organs would succumb and can lead to even death. Sometimes that's how our lives are sometimes, we feel to blast our teachers, bosses or superiors for all the wrong they do and for hurting us. But that would have severe consequences. What then do we do? Should we fold our hands and suffer in silence?
What if there is a way such that we don't lash out our anger and yet feel peace?

Toby had a tough day. He couldn't log in on time for his online class, and so lost his attendance, he performed poorly in his weekly test later that day. His mom was frustrated over matters of work and yelled at him for a petty issue. He wanted to meet up with his friends but a proper monsoon shower spilt water over their plans. Completely frustrated he locks himself in his room, switches the lights off, plugs in earphones and listens to rap music. It gives him peace, he feels "less frustrated". That's his corner, a place where he can rest and be assured of peace of mind.
What's that place in your life? Where do you find solace? What makes you feel peaceful?
Just imagine if meeting God would give you the most peaceful experience.
Join us as we listen to the second part of 'Revival' in Types of Altars by Samuel Mathew.
We all begin well usually. As we go forward, we expect things to keep getting better. But somewhere in between at the middle, things sometimes seem to take a detour, a different tangent and we end up being in a place where we never thought we would be in.
How often have we wished we could go back and have a fresh start? So that we don't repeat the same mistakes and go forward. But life never gives us the ability to go back and start over. Someone once said, "You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.” Isn't that true?
Join us as we learn how in this week's message, "Revival: Rebuilding the Altar" by Samuel Mathew.
"Zindagi me musibat kabhi khatam kyu nahi hota....?" This dialogue from a Bollywood movie can be relatable for everyone. We all face problems after problems, struggles and difficulties. The saying "Life isn't a bed of roses" is an understatement. It should have been 'In life sometimes we will find roses amongst a lot of thorns'.
But why is this so? Why is life so painful? How do we lead a good life when nothing is stable? Who controls our life? Is it by chance that everyone is suffering?
Amongst so many questions, will we find 'any' answer at all??
Join us as we learn from the title 'When God Shakes Your World' by Dr Ajit Cherian.
Sometimes it's frustrating to submit to a governing authority you differ in opinion. In a world where peace and turmoil co-exist, where the youth of this generation protest at high volumes, where every governing decision made is met by criticism and rebellion, are we indeed progressing as a nation?
Although democracy revolves around the idea that everyone has the right to voice their opinions we deviate from the fact that all authorities are God appointed. It is good for us that there is government instead of anarchy.
In a democracy, civic authorities are appointed by people and many times the elected leadership may not be what you desire. Earthly authority, is appointed authority.
Does submitting to your appointed civic authority challenge you? What if we told you that submission to delegated authority must come no matter how good or bad they may be?
Join us as we continue our series on 'Under Authority' in Week 6 - 'Civic authorities' by Pastor Mathew George.
One of the most respected emotions is the spirit of sportsmanship, it's playing fair and adhering to the rules of the game. But when a player doesn't adhere to the rules of the game, there are certain penalties for the same. It means that the rules that are in place aren't an option, they are mandatory and applicable to any and everyone, without any exception. This is what maintains the spirit of fair play and sportsmanship.
How necessary is it to follow rules then? What happens when they begin to strangle us? What happens when these rules start to irritate us? Do we get any reward for adhering to these rules? Or are we just tolerating them with utter disgust?
Join us as we learn more from the topic 'Delegated Authority' in Week 5 by Pastor Mathew George.
Christianity is often categorised as a religion. However, it is a way of living. When we live this life we have a choice: either we follow our own path or the path God has set for us.
Following God's path is not easy and never has been. When we arrive at the crossroads of life, we have the choice of choosing what is right or wrong, there is no in-between or middle ground.
Disobedience to God is a fulfilment of our own desires, where we exalt ourselves and our needs higher than God and in turn rebel against Him. The idea of doing what is right, what is good, what is acceptable comes from our own human understanding.
So, are we rebelling against God when we do what we think is right? Are we living in bondage when we do as we please? How does disobeying God affect our walk with Him?
Join us as we learn more from 'The Consequences of Disobedience - Part 2' in Week 4 by Pastor Mathew George.
It is said that 'the only thing constant in this world is change.' It really is true, isn't it? But we as humans always refrain from change when brought by others. In other words, we don't like to be schooled by others, we would accept change only when we deem it right. Hypocritical it may seem, but it has to do with humility and ego. Obedience comes when we humble ourselves and submit to our authorities. And disobedience is when we rebel and want to impose our own desires.
But even as children, why do we have the urge to fight our authorities? Why does it feel more comfortable to be a rebel and disobey? Why is obedience so difficult? Don't we get empowered when we rebel? Aren't we truly free when we follow our own desires? What then is wrong in disobeying?
Join us as we learn more about 'The Consequences of Disobedience' in Week 3 of Under Authority by Pastor Mathew George. This is Part 1.
Archimedes principle-one of the groundbreaking discoveries made in human history. It explains why wood floats in water while metal sinks. It shows why ships can sail over long distances. But humans used this principle almost daily for hundreds of years before it was discovered.
One of the most important proofs that humans are the most intelligent beings is reasoning and asking why. That gives us purpose and motive, pushes us and makes our determination stronger. But just imagine if humans would have waited for Archimedes to be born and discover buoyancy, would they have been able to journey across the oceans?
As children we were taught many rules and manners, which we followed blindly, just so that we would not be punished. But it's after we grew up we realize how useful most of them were if not all. Is it ok to obey our authorities even though we don't see where they're leading us? Should we fight against everything that we don't like or don't understand? The soldiers on a battlefield blindly follow the orders of their superiors. Why so? Should we do the same when required?

A very interesting scene from the film Captain America-the winter soldier, where Captain America and the black widow are in 'Zola's brain', reveals that Hydra was found on the basis that humanity could not be trusted with its own freedom. How cruel a statement is that? But how do we define freedom? Does it mean that everyone is free to do whatever he or she pleases? In such a case, imagine your body having complete freedom. Your legs take you wherever it wants, both the limbs don't even coordinate, your arms go haphazard and you speak jibberish the whole day.
Maybe that's why we have a brain to control and coordinate things.
How different are we as humans in society? How do we define our freedom? Are we allowed to do whatever we feel like? If so up to what extent? There are countless moments in life when we are not in control of certain circumstances and have no idea what to do in some situations. This only shows that we need guidance and have to be instructed through life by someone who can see things we can't, someone who is above our problems, and, most importantly, someone who genuinely cares for us. So again, how do we define freedom?
Join us as we begin a new series 'Under authority', in Week 1 - 'Freedom in Submission' by Pastor Mathew George.
As humans, we might often respond to challenging situations with fear, anger, frustration, disbelief and the list goes on. With the growing intellect and advancement of man, we often try to find immediate solutions to our problems causing us to depend more on ourselves. During the trials, life throws at us, we can find ourselves praying for situations to work out the way we wish to.
When you're up against a storm, you can either sink and drown or you can choose to face the storm and overcome it. If you do choose to go through it, who is it that's gonna help you? You can't choose your storm but can choose the one who will help you sail through it.

'Rome wasn't built in a day, they say. It took a long time to actually build the empire and its cities. The phrase gained popularity when Queen Elizabeth I used it in a speech when she said ".....a saying which cannot take away but can at least lessen, the grief that I feel; and the saying is, that Rome was not built in one day". This phrase then gained popularity and is used to date. As mentioned, it certainly gives a cushion of comfort showing that we are only humans and great things take time to come about. But the unsaid factor that is key during the entire time is consistency. Certainly, all good things take time to be manifested but are we consistent in our part and duty? Are we patient enough to yield the harvest? Do we have faith that the seeds we have planted will bear fruit? Are we willing to wait to enjoy its sweetness?

She comes on time daily, and the first thing she does is prepares coffee for her boss, as the days went by she was also asked to run some of her boss's personal errands such as purchasing a few household items or picking the children from school. She was made to stay late in the office for petty reasons in an unsafe locality. All of her colleagues who joined with her left, while she held on, by the end of the month she was finally given some tasks related to fashion designing. And as the next month began, she received her first paycheck. But that wasn't the only thing she had earned, the whole office had known her by then and seen her hard work and dedication, her determination earned the respect of all from the security guard to the managing director.

Imagine going to a restaurant, a waiter waits on you and provides you delightful service. You spent that evening very well and enjoyed the entire time. How much would you tip the waiter?
Now if we imagine a completely opposite scenario, the waiter wasn't able to handle things well, he brought you the wrong order, he spilt your water, he took all the time in the world to finally get your food. How much would you tip him? Both the waiters could really use a good tip, maybe the latter had a lot running in his mind, maybe he tried to do his best but some things weren't in his hand, maybe he's not so experienced, maybe a good tip can help him pull himself back together.

What fond memories do Aladdin and his magic lamp bring. The concept of getting 3 unconditional wishes fulfilled in a world where nothing comes for free. How blissful.😌
And maybe that's why it's just a film. Something like that would never happen in reality. Or would it? What if it has happened? Why and up to what extent do we believe in reaching for the stars? If we are to, whom should we ask? Does a genie exist in reality? Or is there someone who isn't trapped in a lamp and can give a zillion times more than what genie could?

Have you ever driven a car while talking to someone over the phone? I guess most of us have. But let's add one more task to it. Have you ever driven a car while talking to someone over the phone, while also watching a movie in your car? Sounds impossible right? That's because our brain isn't actually designed to multitask. Even though we can do more than one job at a time, the tasks get just partial attention from our brain, so lesser will be productivity. I wonder if that's true for our lives in general. What if we are driven by ideologies completely different from each other? Is it possible to love skiing yet hate ice? Cane we lead double standard lives yet have no problems in our way?

Whose numbers have we stored on our speed dial? Whom do we run to first when we have some very good news to share? Be it happiness or grief, all of us would love to share it with someone. Yes, 'someone'. We may want to share it with many people, but who would it be first? It matters. Just like the first cake bite on one's birthday, the first person we go to during life's highs and lows is a crucial decision to make. Isn't it the one who deserves to get the first place? Isn't it someone who has been with us through and through, someone who will accept us no matter what, someone who values us more than anything, the one who created us and adores us?

Tests are an amazing part of academics, they help us know where we stand. Whilst it shows us our reality, it can be very painful at times. It's pretty much the same with our finances, when there's a personal audit done of our expenditures, it hurts many times to see the amounts spent on stuff that wasn't deemed important, and that too at the cost of stuff that should have been prioritized. How often do we choose to go through that pain? Or do we just ignore where we spend our money, not caring if we might be actually draining it? What if we could get our finances right by giving our money in that right place where we ought to? What if by giving we will be given back more? When was the last time we had to force ourselves to get a job done? How frequently do we have to discipline ourselves to achieve something? It's not the same for some things though. Sometimes we would reach any height or depth to get what we desire. Our desire comes from our heart, and our heart follows what we treasure the most. And that's one of the reasons why money can become dangerous because most of us treasure money and we go up to any extent to get more of it. So how do we handle that?

No matter how well we cleanse ourselves in a day, we have to cleanse ourselves again on a regular basis. We all know the benefits of taking a bath and how important it is. What a blessing friends are. Arguably the best part about friends is that we can mostly go to them unfiltered, not having to restrict ourselves but just be who we are. But many times we find ourselves alone even when we need someone close to us desperately, don't we? Sometimes just pouring our heart out gives so much relief. What if we have a friend invisible to the eye but ever-present and always there for us irrespective of our mood and feelings? What if we could talk to Him every now and then just as we would to a friend? What if He would reply to us when we call Him and help us in every, literally every situation? No matter how filling a meal we would have had, after a few hours our body would again require food. Similarly, it's not possible to fill the tank of a car once and expect it to run for a lifetime. Also, the branch cannot grow or produce fruit unless it is connected to the tree and continuously receives the required nutrients. There is always a need for a continuous supply. Is it the same with love? Is it possible to love others while we are not being loved? How long can we live this way? Shouldn't there be a continuous supply of love in our lives?

"Knowing only half-truth is very dangerous". Ever guessed the reason for a thief to choose to operate in the dark? If it's so that he can't be seen, wouldn't it be difficult for him to see as well? And that's why it's always a risk. But just imagine if the lights were on as he was stealing. It's the same when we try to look for something in the dark, the object we are looking for is going nowhere but we just can't see it. Sometimes just seeing the entire picture solves half of the problem. That's because unless we know what the problem is we can't solve it. How true is it that many times we don't listen to understand what the other person is saying, but so that we can give them a strong reply? One of the best fundas in life is to do your part, but is it enough? We live in an imperfect world and some times we can't see it but things just don't add up. In our relationships, even if none of the people involved is at fault, there seems to be an unaccounted gap which just broadens over time. "A prejudiced mind cannot reveal the reality of life." How often do we judge others based on our past experiences? Many times we are not patient enough to know what others are going through before judging them or drawing a conclusion. There are also times we were misunderstood and judged wrongly, without our side of the picture even being heard. But does everything around us work this way? Our bitterest enemies are those we once loved the most. The pain is searing, and the hatred has very deep roots. And to cause them to harm we may go to any extent. According to the 2nd law of thermodynamics, in order for a machine to keep working, energy has to be continuously supplied. Which means if I don't switch on the fan switch, it won't rotate. So is the case with love, unless we keep experiencing love, we can't keep loving others.
A gap analysis is a tool that can help businesses identify where they aren't living up to their potential. Life is getting busier and busier and we have to reset our priorities every now and then. After all, the hard and tiring work that I have to do at the office, doing all I can to please my boss and sometimes skipping meals, shouldn't I have the right to have a little relaxation and peace all alone? Parents can be annoying at times, with all their advice and instructions which seem so needless. But sometimes when we listen to them just so that they feel good and stop giving their instructions at least for a while, even we tend to kinda feel good. And let's admit it, many times listening to them turns out to be a life-saving decision in our lives. Why is it that obedience brings about a good feeling in our conscience?
Obedience may seem to be the virtue of someone with or without limited free will; as though one is obliged to somebody or something. But we always tend to obey the people whom we love, cause we always want to keep their hearts.
Join us as we listen to Samuel Mathew on the title: Obedience, where we learn about a man who took the deadly step of obeying his father. But that decision saved the world.
With time ever-advancing and stopping for no one, we have to choose every step of ours wisely. If someone is in need of help, help them. If someone is trying to push a wall, give them a hand. If someone is broken, help them rebuild themselves. In the process of helping others, we ourselves might need a shoulder to lean on, a hand to help us get up, or a smile to fix our broken hearts. And that is why we can be a support to others.
Join us as we hear from Kezia Joseph on the title: The Time is Now, this being the last Sunday of our theme Talitha Cumi.
Broken can be such a negative word. It indicates that something is no longer protected or something is lost. When your phone lock is cracked open, the one who broke into your device has access to all your contents, data, personal space and everything around your life is compromised. The mention of it itself is so disturbing.
But let's see it in another angle. How many times a heart patient's life is saved due to open-heart surgery? And isn't it necessary to break open the room door of someone contemplating suicide?
Join us as we hear from Anu Danny on 'Broken to be Blessed'. We continue to hear from the ladies of our church and we believe that Jesus is telling even all you girls and ladies out there 'Talitha Cumi', which means 'Rise little girl' and shine.
Problems, difficulties and struggles are never-ending in our lives. And each problem has to be dealt in a specific way. Just like each lock has a specific key to open it, and no matter how similar any other key may look, if it's exactly same, it will never open the lock. So what's that deciding factor that causes the obstructing walls of our lives to fall? As we celebrate 'Talitha Cumi' join us as we hear from Charline Stella on 'The Wall: Marching is Obedience'.
The welcoming of June brings along with it what Jesus has to say to all the ladies out there with a bright smile. He says 'Talitha Cumi'. Translated from Aramaic, 'Talitha Cumi' means 'Rise Little Girl'. The world is made for both men and women and Jesus wants all the women to rise just like the men and be the blessing they were made to be. And so we have dedicated this month to the ladies of our church to speak to us from the wisdom God has given them.
It's been a tough year so far with the COVID-19 disease, cyclones, locusts attack and many more. How sweet does a well-tuned guitar sound when its strings are plucked. But when the strings are stretched a little more, they rip off. In physics, there's a term called Young's modulus which helps us understand how much pressure can an object handle before it breaks. There might not something like that to determine the mental pressure, but at times we all are stretched to the limit. Our lives are so much harmonious and fruitful when stretched to the right measure, but what happens when its overstretched?

"The straw that broke the camel's back."
This idiom is so true in our lives. Even when problems, difficulties, undealt and poorly dealt matters stock up it just takes something so insignificant as a straw to frustrate us. But this wasn't how life was meant to be. This isn't how we were meant to be.

Just like the body responds differently to different kinds of food, the mind also reacts according to whatever you see, hear, talk and think.
For example, the words coronavirus is something fearsome, worrying, alarming and despairing.
And the word hospital mostly makes us think of sickness instead of recovery.
This is because over the years we have learnt to think in certain ways which many a time causes us to have a negative perspective in life. But to change that we should first ask ourselves: What's on your mind?
We'd love to have you join us as we analyze, introspect and find how to have a constructive approach towards life.
The safest place for a fish is in the water, for an eagle is in the skies and for the sheep is in the shepherd's arms. No matter how strong, intelligent, smart, or fast one might be, there always comes a time where he or she has to run. And where we run will shape our tomorrow.
Where can we find a place secure, reliable, comforting and strengthening when we are weak or beaten?
This Sunday let's find out as Pastor Mathew shares with us on 'The Safety Net'
