Armenian Women Empowerment is a podcast meant to uplift Armenian women in the diaspora, know our worth, and switch up the conversation being spoken about us. It’s a podcast for empowered Armenian women and the empowered Armenian man smart enough to listen.

Thank you for my life. I’m grateful for your tenacity, positivity and encouraging seeking spirit to live so that I could. My son and I are only here for the bravery of my badass empowered grandmother Aghavni. Buddhists believe that it all starts with the mother. This is a tribute to one such mother, the mother of my own mother, Aghavni. 109 years ago my grandparents on both sides were the victims of the genocide perpetrated by the young Turk government of 1915 in Türkiye. They are also the reason why I will never give up the fight to recognize and prevent genocides from ever happening again, even though they still do. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jackie14/message
It’s not all what it’s cracked up to be when you’re an Armenian living in the diaspora but it’s never over. There’s always hope to do better, be better and raise that recognition expectation higher than a kite! We deserve it as women, as Armenians. Thanks you aghavni for walking through it all for me to be here today. Never a day goes by when I don’t appreciate and think about how I’m here because the Marashlian side stuck it out and cooked for the devil to stay alive, and how my moms side, my grandmother walked a million miles across the desert with a baby on her back for me to have an opportunity in this life. ❤️💙🧡--- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jackie14/message
Amoters are folks that find demeaning Armenian women to be a sport. Instead of being happy an Armenian woman in the world being elected to public office they blame and shame them for political agendas of their own creation. Armenians are so used to women being shamed for speaking up and speaking out in the world and they cannot see how it brings us all down. We’ve all been “groomed” to shame and blame strong women in general in the world and it shows. Calling an intelligent woman who’s committed herself to doing the hard work “amot” is amot in and of itself. Stop this cycle of blame and shame and uplift and encourage instead. Keep your fear mongering politics out of it and keep and open mind to Armenian women public servants. Congratulations to Ellen for being the first Armenian mayor of Glendale!--- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jackie14/message
I can’t help it! I’m a mrashsti through and through and recognize that accent like the back of my hand. Have you ever met a Turkish person that actually knew their roots? Not likely, and you’ll hear my recent interaction with a Turkish man from Adana, the birth home of my father and his family. You can’t make this stuff up of course, and I implore and empower you to always have the hard conversations and dialogues even if it feels a bit wrong to do so. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jackie14/message
Don’t sweat the small stuff that can be hacked. Your safety and empowerment is important. Life hacks for the Armenian empowered women include getting a shower stool and saving you commenting fingers for something better. On this woman’s day, march 8th, let’s save time money and energy for the bigger picture. Word of the year examples and stories that will motivate you to choose yours and then a look at backhanded compliments. Backhanded compliments may be coming from a source of misunderstanding and poor comprehension skills. Sometimes this is also a lost in translation issue but check yourself that it isn’t learned behavior passed down from generations past. Women have this tendency and especially Armenian women. Move forward, repair and recover and recognize the problem before it festers and gets passed down further on down the generation line. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jackie14/message
Should you file a restraining order? I think you should hold your horses first unless it’s life threatening to you or your child, hold up! We have a tendency to not listen to our gut instincts and think toward someone else being responsible for our own manifestations. When something wonderful has happened, chances are it is you yourself and you who has manifested that and made it happen. Listen to your self listen to what is going on around you and take action on that, embrace it and understand that you’ve made it happen! Enjoy it and let the manifestations begin!--- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jackie14/message
The most hurtful part about being an Armenian is feeling the aggression against you from your own kind. At a time like this when we are suffering from the news of our people forcibly displaced and ethnically cleansed, the last thing we need is to get it from our own. We should be spending time really looking out for one another and being kind. If you feel in your gut something isn’t right in the motherland, then take action, call it out and stay on top of your worth. You are worthy of respect and regard regardless of who you are and where you come from. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jackie14/message
Sorry not sorry, this is getting blunt with what’s going on right now. Please note that I am a grandchild of genocide survivor’s and I will speak up for everyone going through ethnic cleanse. I will always be on the side of the victims, not the make believe ones, but the real McCoy. I will standby and standup and stands with my Armenia and those who fight for the justice there of. It’s all of us in this world and we all must play a part in humanity. All of us are responsible for calling out the bullies so that they cannot get away with murder over and over again. August is kind of a rebirth of sorts for me, the end of a school vacation year and coming upon a new one. Taking on new challenges but we also need to stay in the empowered flow. Emotionally and mentally abusive behavior produces emotionally and mentally ill individuals. The professor is in is about these things that make us feel less than our super powers we know we already have. When you bring something important to the table and it’s squashed upon hearing it, it sends a message to all that you don’t matter. Insulting behavior needs to stop because it produces emotionally and mentally damaged individuals. Be better than that!

Happy pride month! Here’s why; all Armenians should be included and all students should be openly educated about our lgbtq community. It’s the right side of history and right thing to do to appreciate all humans. No one is turning your kids this way or that, only educating on the facts of life. Nothing more, nothing less. Kids deserve to know the truth. When they know truth from trusted adults like parents teachers and clergy, they will express and give us truth back. Armenian women or any women have no time to lose on easing their girls and boys to respect themselves. We are all meant to go to space, wash dishes, develop vaccines and drive fast cars. Encouragement goes a long way. If we aren’t encouraging toward each other as Armenian women, then what are we? Just like everyone else in the world that demeans and bemoans the woman in general, don’t be that! Let’s uplift in every way and encourage each other to move forward and ahead even in the most precarious of times. I recently moved across state and felt the love and encouragement of friends and family and that goes a long way.

Why don’t we feel comfortable with apologizing appropriately? Why do we sorry shame each other? If a kid says sorry, then probably truly are but we want MORE! Say it and get it out of the way and open to make better relationships happen for you!

It’s kind of interesting how I started this podcast out on a Sunday and on Monday our world was rocked by the Supreme Court leaked opinion on a woman’s right to choose. This podcast isn’t really about that, but I don’t think there are coincidences in the world. This podcast was certainly meant to be in the energies this week. In this episode we unpack a lot of issues with regard to how women are encouraged, uplifted and celebrated in the Armenian community. The fact of the matter is we do more to endorse the same folks all the time and if you don’t know or aren’t related to them, you’re out of luck! It’s time to diversify. Also up for discussion today is how we need to put the Armenian women first in the April 24th protest for justice marches everywhere! We brought these important people who you promote so well repetitiously, so we can honor the mothers but putting them in the box seats too! After all it’s well known that women and children were the ones who suffered on the deportation caravans and we should be honored as such. It’s also “hye” time we do more to support our heritage daily and not merely on April 24. Here are some helpful tips on how to do just that. Enjoy!

A slap in the face has exploded all over the earth and all I could think about was how I could have used a will smith in my life once in a while. Armenian men have been less than valor full for women and the females in the family even a little less than that. There is certainly some honor to what will smith did for his wife Jada, and I’m turning Themis unpopular action on its ear to prove a point. It’s Hollywood people, and it’s their problem, so hear me out when I say we need to pay close attention to the protection of our women.

Absolutely! Gabby Pettitos unfortunate story is a mere slice of what the emotional abuser is capable of doing. Victims of emotional abuse already have life long irreversible affects to contend with but homicide terminates all chances of recovery. Do Armenians participate in this gaslighting, disparaging and otherwise abusive banter toward women? Sadly yes, and we need to call this out and check ourselves and how we treat each-other for our ultimate healthful survival. Listen to learn the signs of emotional abuse in others and recognize the behaviors of the abusers. Let’s prevent this sort of thing from ever happen to our women.

Seriously though, why are we doing this to our young women and men in fact? Why do we continue to feed our kids crap and then shame them for being fat? In this day age of a plague that seems to pray on the obese, we can do a much better job of encouraging healthful lifestyles for our youth while not shaming them for getting off track, or simply being a kid who’s body growth changes are normal. The jig is up! We cannot continue to berate each other and then expect positive results with health. It simply doesn’t work. Let’s empower our women especially and be a good example for them too.

An empowering way to start off this new year (we deserve it) is by giving yourself the gift of a word to live by. I’ve narrowed my word of the year down to two. Which one do you think I should chose? I’ve been living my years by one word since 2018. It’s a resolution, only way more encompassing and no way to really fumble on it as it’s all encompassing.

It’s been a hell of a year for us as Armenians, so taking little steps to stay empowered leads to big improvements down the line. I’m featuring two Armenian authors here as well while I continue the buy Armenian is the season project. Enjoy this listen!

How appropriate to be advertising Linda’s art today on this podcast about empowering our dadigs, medzmoms and nenes. Are we forgetting about the elders in artsahk who just moved their whole lives out of their homes at the hands of the terrible Turk? Are we forgetting they need empowering words of encouragement too? Listen to this podcast about how my sons AYF is hosting a letters to grandmas for the displaced and depressed in Armenia. They are our women warriors, just like Linda’s sketches reflect. They deserve more than respect, they deserve empowering too!

We aren’t going to be stereotype threatened anymore. We don’t have 20 years to waste on bosses, coworkers, partners or family members that participate in the stereotyping of us into submission. We have bigger things to do and invent, and create and work on than eating out time with those that negatively affect our good decision making skills. Let’s get out of that funk and move ahead.

The pressure to repopulate Armenia isn’t new, but is it more important now that we’ve lost so many of our soldiers? Aren’t we just continuing the same old same old and keeping our women hunkered down and away from their truth and potential? It’s not a simple fix and I’m going to talk about why we need to pull the brakes on that pressure. We have bigger things going on now and need all hands on deck!

Happy to present the fourth and final buy Armenian is the season. This episode reminds us to stay UNIFIED and unwaveringly healthy in spirit for our brothers and sisters in artsahk and Armenia. We cannot let the narcissist and nay sayers to drag us down. We have the power as Armenians in this world to stick to the focused plan of a free/azad Armenia with every fiber of our being. We can do this humanitarian effort with pride and know that we did our part to keep us in existence just that much longer. The best way to do this is to buy Armenian whenever you can and study our language and culture and spread the peaceful news about us.

End of war rant included in this episode and we need empowered women in the GOVERNMENT HOUSE!! I mean it, we need to be entrepreneurs at the political table, not just at the business table. I’ve been promoting mostly armenian women owned business, so clearly we have a talent that is second to none. We need to continue the unity and buy Armenian so that we stay empowered and confident as a whole. We need each other to help each other like never before and it’s obvious we are our only friend in this world so keep on supporting, fundraising and buying Armenian!!

Standing in my financial truth and breaking through the barriers of financial abuse. It’s been three years since I escaped financial abuse and it’s no wonder why enduring years of that can debilitate and confuse. I think Armenians spend less time on full disclosure and truth bearing in financials than they should. It’s a long time coming, but I broke through those shackles when I stood in my truth last week. Also, remember that ayo!! I am going to promote your buy Armenian business for FREE next month. Please stay tuned in!

You won’t want to miss this one as it will empower with knowledge about how you’re vote matters. We are stressed out about the unwanted, unwarranted war against us in our homelands and here in America is no different. We want the best for our people and the best is NOT yet to come by voting republican this election year. I won’t even write his name on this episode description as a matter of strong principals of protection of Armenian American’s women’s rights. Staunchness is getting us no where as Armenians with a president that not only supports the enemy, but supplies it with a lovingly blind eye to facts. 💥✌️for🇦🇲 women!

This might be a good show to listen to to with the family. I’m empowering our youth to help Armenians in artsahk TODAY! We can do this no matter what age we are, just like ten year old Jackie Coogan helped the orphans of Armenia in 1915. Have no doubts that you can promote awareness and help fight for our brothers and sisters defend themselves from Azeri/Turkish aggression. Get the word out and help!

We (our sisters in artsahk) are being plundered again by the barbaric Azeri Turk. This time, a mother and child were killed with bombs and chaos of random raids. This is intentional and continued female abuse by a third party. We need to keep them in our hearts and prayers for a peaceful outcome. Attacking our countries fertility isn’t ok!

Let’s face it! Emotional and financial abuse hurt our mental health and it takes some time to heal from that. That level of abuse takes a toll on us to the point that making decisions is taxing and hard. I was finally able to bring myself to buy a car without fear, three years post abuse. It’s not easy and add that to other outside health issues and your current levels of protection and you’ve got quite the pickle to contend with.

My son went to his grandmas to cook sarma, and instead of celebrating this, she shamed him. She laughed and said something like, “what are you becoming, a girl or something?” In Armenian. This sort of thing happens more often than we think and it has a lasting effect on our youth if not careful. We need to move into the 21st century and encourage all of our children’s talents and interests no matter what gender they identify with. I’m tired of seeing the old world ways perpetuated in regard to sexism. If we want Armenians to flourish and live long, we need to keep our youth interested in a culture that’s nonjudgmental and prejudice.

Welcome to Armenian Women Empowerment! This is a podcast that will help you identify the negative and sexist rhetoric throw your way and to stand up for yourself in its wake. You will hear Jackie’s personal story of how she survived an emotionally, familialy and financially abusive marriage and how to identify and prevent toxic family and professional relationships for yourself. It’s not “amot” to be an Armenian woman in the diaspora; it’s EMPOWERING! Let’s switch this conversation up about us and take actionable steps towards uplifting, encouraging and empowering ourselves each day!

When we stand in our truth, we know when it’s time to go and sever toxic ties. Armenians have a tendency to stay too long with their abusers because it’s seen as being “amot” if they don’t, and that’s just further shaming of us. I’m guilty of that too, and I want you to know that it’s going to be the ultimate demise of the Armenian community when we continue to burn the very fabric that which holds us together. Let’s preserve our wonderful heritage with a healthy mental outlook on life and start treating the Armenian woman better!

I’ve a got a meme to share with you that really speaks to my heart about how we, as Armenian women, have much improvement to do with regards to empowering. We have a tendency not to hear eachother and instead of uplift and validation for where we are at in our journey, and in our space, we tend to make eachother feel as if we’re not enough, and have to keep up and catch up to US! You’ll hear an example of my friend who recently took control of her professional life and empowered herself. Whether it’s a family member, partner or boss, you are not to be yelled at or made to feel less than. They don’t get to do that to you, and if you don’t nip it in the bud, they will always do that which was disempowering to your soul, over and over again.

Unbelievably ugly when our own brothers and sisters disparage and attack our teachers! Teaching has long been gendered work by women, and when we hate on them and show no support for female teachers and leadership, we are being the most disempowering we can possibly be. I’m a teacher and let me tell you, this has been one hell of a week being witness to online vitriol against Armenian teachers and leadership. We’re better than this! Emotional debt is toxic, much like financial debt is toxic on our prosperity. Speaking to Armenian women in disparaging and toxic ways leads to sleepless nights and days filled with anxiety which do nothing to lead us forward in our world. Every Armenian woman has experienced this in some way or form wether or not it’s directly done by a family member, spouse or on social media from random strangers; it’s debilitating and needs to stop. In this episode, my very first (cut me some slack on it being so raw!!)
