The EPIC finale to Malt Madness 2022!!! It was Madness indeed and you will see what we mean by that immediately.
In the last region before the finals, Peter D (commissioner of the tournament AND Hoppy Historian) helps decide the cider representative of the final four. Later, he challenges himself to finish all 8 ciders in the bracket and gets very emotional with the hosts. It's the first time The Hoppy Boys have ever been serious in almost 50 episodes. It only lasts for about 30 seconds.
The Hoppy Boys couldn't find anyone else to cover this bracket so they resorted to Richie. He reluctantly came on the show and didn't seem to enjoy a minute of it. Hopefully there is at least one salvageable minute of content in this 2 hour extravaganza. Brian accidentally gets wasted which is always good for the pod.
Wow. The inaugural episode of the second annual Malt Madness. The epic tournament starts with an absolute BANG as father, husband and school teacher, Chris, joins the boys for an in person tasting and record. The Hoppy Boys do another sober episode with one of their LEAST sober friends, Corrine! She returns to the show to talk all about her drunken weekend, and how she likes to kiss strangers in grocery stores. Later, Brian makes an uncomfortable joke about bowling balls.
We know what you're gonna say. "Its not dry January since you're last episode was about beer!" Well guess what loser, we recorded that last year. So here we are talking about Coffee. Might want to slow this one down a bit because us boys get a little WIRED if ya know what I mean ;) Also spoilers we drank before recording this episode.
Lifelong friend John Kellermann stops by to chat about Long Island's own Blue Point brewery's Blueberry Ale, as well as important topics such as cookies, clams and classroom masturbation.
It's a Festivus miracle! Friends of the podcast, there are some, send in their grievances for the first full year of The Hoppy Boys, where the criticisms are quickly dismissed by the hosts. Some very long conversations about male breasts and an extended mail-bag entry to close out the last episode of the year. see you in 2022!
In this first face to face frolic, featuring the fanatical hoppy friend Kat, the Boy's foolishly try and find out just how fussy audio equipment is.
The Hoopy Boys land their first international guest! what better way to celebrate by talking about international suds that are not from the guest's country of origin? Kristen MacInnis lets us know what its like to be a Canadian who is not fond of the usual suds we all know a love.
5-timer Matthew Geoghegan returns to tackle one of the most important reviews of our lives.
The Hoppy Boys are taken by surprise when stranger Mike Ockisitchy crashes their Friday night drinks sesh. After kicking him off the pod, the scheduled guest, Matt Ganesh joins them to chat pumpkin beers. This episode is objectively funny, but not because of anything the hosts say.
Former college roomate and hard cider connoisseur, TJ joins the show to talk Redd’s Wicked Apple. They touch on the subject of hard cider but mostly talk about cats and poop.
Fellow Long Islander, Christine Schultheis, give us the run-down on why she has claim to be Queen of the Claws.

Ricky and Kayla of The Sick Invite Podcast join The Hoppy Boys to discuss the second White Claw variety pack. Ricky talks about all of the beer he “confiscated” as an RA at U Albany. Kayla then brags that she was awarded a day dedicated to her name in 2012 for most beers drank that year. Brian proceeds to get very drunk before the boys get yet another unsolicited call from Clyde.
White Claw aficionado Travis Hart hops on the pod to kick off Clawgust!! Travis explains the origins of his fandom for White Claw and why they continue to be his favorite alcoholic beverage. The three debate their favorite flavors and talk about how claws stack up against the rest of the hard seltzers in the game. Spoiler, there is actually quite a bit of boos talk in this episode.
If you want to know what Brian, Brendan and Robyn talk about in this episode, then listen yourself you dink.
Cross Country superstars (Division 3) Ben and Jeremy enter the Hop Head canon on a wild ride to Rhode Island! The two are experts in all things Narragansett beer and sport their useless knowledge on this useless podcast. The former college buds talk running stories and the logistics of beer miles. Brendan then explains how he once used his own penis as a brush to paint a picture of a penis…
This is the second part of the sequel of a two part episode. Not at all complicated. Listen to the boys drink beers from New York and do bad English accents. Otherwise you’re missing out on high quality content.
Whenever The Hoppy Boys have nothing planned for their show, they close their eyes, reach into their fridge and talk about the beers they grab. The hour and a half of conversation that happens afterwards is what they call “podcasting.”
The Hoppy Boys do their first podcast collaboration with the men from Shonen and Suds! Chris and Kody come on to talk about how anime is their excuse to record their bullshit sessions while drinking beer. While deep diving on favorite craft and macro brews, the duo teaches the NY natives about southern drink concoctions along with regional colloquialisms. After making a Mount Rushmore of Hard Seltzers, the crew breaks down the Summer Shandy and open up the mailbag. They find something horrible inside.
CELEBRATE one year of podcasting with the buds who talk about drinkin suds. The Hoppy Boys respond to questions sent in by former guests while they complete a Natural Light Power Hour. As you can see by the length of the episode...they go longer than an hour, and boy does it get messy. Cheers to one year of beers!
The Hoppy Boys are diving into Bud Light Selzter’s limited edition “Out Of Office” pack! High school friends/lovers Corrine and Connor join the panel to critique the new addition to the overly saturated seltzer game. The group reminisces about the early days of quarantine and their drunken zoom makeovers. Former drunken toddler Corrine, consistently picks on her non-fiancé “Creepy” Connor for being a boring guest. It takes the quad an unsurprisingly long time to finish reviewing 4 hard seltzers.
In their second Brewery Reviewery, The Hoppy Boys tackle Virginia based brewery Strangeways Brewing! Over the course of the 4 beers chosen for this review, the hosts struggle to have a competent conversation. Discussions about lactose-sour beer trends and rising white supremacy on Long Island lead them to believe that one might have something to do with the other. After all of their rambling, the boys run out of time to open up the mailbag.
a lil PSA about the Malt Madness Finale.

PART 2 PART 2 PART 2!!! Brian and Brendan are clearly running out of friends as they have on another returning guest, Richard Henderson, to decide the second finalist in this Malt Madness Tournament. They do their best to stay on the topic at hand, but naturally diverge into other hot topics. Once done babbling about how scabby and full of rashes Brendan used to get in his friends shag-basement, the trio eventually gets around to deciding a winner of the MillerCoors region. The hosts encourage that you fast forward to the end to find the results instead of listening.
The long overhyped Malt Madness tournament is finally here! First member of the three timers club, Matt Geoghegan, helps the Hoppy Boys navigate their way through a March Madness style bracket of Anheuser-Busch beers. The trio is presented with the tall task of selecting a finals representative from 8 different beers. The episode is so long that Clyde finally does not call.
The call (from no one) to review craft beers has been heard! Brewery Reviewery - Oyster Bay Brewing edition!! The Hoppy Boys first edition in a new line of episodes where they review local craft breweries. For the special occasion, they needed a special guest. Lindenhurst alum, Pete Truszkowski (of @NYIslesNation fame) got the call. Within their deep dive into the Oyster Bay Brewing catalog, Pete explains his super-fandom for The Office, The Islanders, and Baker Mayfield. As the show goes on, Pete and Brendan tell Brian and the listeners about their rocky friendship, highlighting some touching moments along the way. Once Brendan stops talking about how much he has kissed Pete, they play a voicemail that is a tough listen for animal lovers everywhere.
Roommate Nicole comes for a long hang with the boys this week to discuss Blue Moon alternative, Light Sky. The trike finds themselves creating beef with former guests and recalling Brendan's 2015 New Year's Eve McDonald's order. After a jam packed mailbag, the gang plays a few rounds of Kings in a new segment! Once nice and tipsy (mostly Brian), the hosts play their weekly call from Clyde.
Long time favorite John comes on to talk about a beer he has never drank before in his life. Despite the unfamiliarity with the beer of the week, John brings much general beer talk to the table with his relative knowledge of the craft beer scene. Being an old friend of Brian's, stories of their youth lead the boys to chats about four loco and licking burning hookah coal. Later, frequent drunk driver, Clyde, leaves a message. The trio finishes the episode with a "God is a Bottom" segment, and detesting the works of M. Knight Shyamalan.
The Hoppy Boys kick off the new year with a classic cold one, Miller Lite. Joining them to review this heavyweight of lite beers is friend/lover Darian (Dairy Queen) Hugo! Darian comes on for some beer babble, and tells the tale of how her and Brian's love is rooted in shotgunning Miller's. Brian then makes everyone tell their funniest car accident story. Later, Brian and Brendan answer listener questions. Clyde calls again...
The Hoppy Boys are giving their listeners a last minute gift this year with their HOLIDAY SPECTACULAR!!! Sitting by their yule logs and wrapped in festive red robes, Brian and Brendan spend some quality time sipping some holiday themed no-no juice. Although early on it seems the show will be taken over by a long Avatar: The Last Airbender tangent, the pair brings it back to the beer and cheer that initially brought them together. As a special treat, the leaders of the Hop Heads each read their Christmas lists, and threaten Santa's life if their requests are not granted.
The Hoppy Boys dive into independently owned brewery Sierra Nevada with BIG fan of the show, Nick Hiser. Struggling to competently host a very low quality program, Brian and Brendan continue their idiotic interviewing styles. Between Brendan misunderstanding the meaning of "decapitate," and Brian brutally whiffing on his segue attempts, it is surprising Nick stays to chat with them. Nick saves the show by steering them the closest they've ever come to an actual beer conversation.
MILESTONE ALERT!!!! Your favorite podcast duo has finally reached the double digit episode landmark every podcaster dreams of. In their tenth ep, fan favorite Matt Geoghegan returns with newcomer Jessie Mchugh. The foursome talk about their introduction to the cider world while RARELY deviating from the topic at hand. After final thoughts, the episode is taken over by an absolute segment frenzy! You won't want to miss The Beer Advocate Reviews, The Mailbag, God Is a Bottom, Clyde's phone call, Matt Geoghegan's month's of the year rankings, and of course, Plugs.
When Co-host Brian ruined the episode by buying the wrong beer, The Hoppy Boys and guest/fanboy Derek pivoted their attention to (extremely unpopular) beer/seltzer hybrid, Leinenkugel Spritzen. While discussing the three flavors in the variety pack, pressing topics like lettuce and Susan B. Anthony truly steal the show. Finally, we dig DEEP into the mailbag before questionable alcoholic, Clyde, calls into the show for another unsolicited opinion.
The moment you've all been waiting for...MIX A SIX PART 2!!! After the critics raved in a (very real) recent Rolling Stone article, fans began begging for the sequel to the Hoppy Boys most boring episode. In their return to reviewing "good" beer, Brian and Brendan dive deep on beer and only beer. There are no tangents in this extremely focused and professional craft beer discussion. Later, the 'boys pour orange juice in their beers.
This week on the Hoppy Boys, Chris Neary joins to discuss Bud Light Platinum. College drinking stories bring the ‘boys on tangents about near death experiences, G.O.A.T.’s, and goats. After way too many Nickelodeon references, they introduce a new segment, “God Is a Bottom.”
In a GRAND return from their podcasting hiatus, The Hoppy Boys are back with a (self proclaimed) highly anticipated special episode. Too lazy to book a guest, the boys decide to just talk to each other over a mixed bag of local beers. They dive deep on all of today’s hot topics including 711 taquitos, Billy Joel, and I Am Legend. They also review the beers they drink.
College suite-mate, Derek Hawkins, joins the pod for a Rolling Rock nostalgia trip. The boys shame cargo shorts and high socks, while wondering why the band Hanson (MMMBop) is playing local restaurant gigs. After Derek and The Hoppy Boys review the pony-beer, the crew plans a Burger King related piece of bonus content. Light mailbag week thanks to a rapidly dwindling fan-base. Tommy's voice changes.
Only fan of the show, Gina (microwave) Dorso joins the Hoppy Boys to discuss Dutch import, Heineken. Gina talks about her Wonka-esque tour of the Heineken factory, and tells the story of her first blackout as Brendan consistently interrupts her. Later, Diddy Kong shows up to complain about his problems with Dixie Kong. With a packed mailbag this week, the Clyde-family canon expands.
In their first bonus episode, The Hoppy Boys have an in depth, one on one interview, in the form of a 60 minute power hour. The boys get boozy during this "hoppy" hour, while asking each other nothing but questions of pure intellect. Later, Brian talks about how his favorite word for poop is "caca."
The 'Boys are back to chat with former college roomate, Richie, about their freshman year ventures into the "Rita-verse." The trio discuss pee strategies, reminisce their first kisses, and talk about how Lime-A-Rita is the George Washington of Hard Seltzers! Fan/enemy of the show, Clyde, returns.
Long time friend Matt Geoghegan join "Chosts" Brendan and Brian to discuss their many ventures with Natural Light. The boys go over first-time drinking stories, re-hash local amusement park travesties, and question God's sexuality. Later on, first fan of the show Clyde, leaves a message for the mailbag.
