Fr. Mike Kelleher discusses segregation in the South, and tells the story of the devastation wrought by Hurricane Katrina, and his subsequent efforts to integrate two faith communities in Pascagoula, Mississippi.
Fr. Michael Kelleher was born in County Limerick in 1941, ordained as a priest in 1965, and ministered to the people of the Catholic Diocese of Biloxi for fifty five years.
Fr. Mike, as he was affectionately known, left a huge legacy on the 'sleepy little town of Pascagoula' (to quote the Ray Stevens song, which is worth a listen by the way), and was loved by all who knew him.
His role in uniting two of Pascagoula's Catholic churches, one Black and one White, in the aftermath of the disaster that was Hurricane Katrina, was one of the highlights of his time in Pascagoula. On 29th September 2019, a special mass was celebrated at St. Peter the Apostle (African-American) Catholic Church where Fr. Mike was especially thanked for the support he provided to that parish community over the span of the couple of years following Katrina, over a decade previously. The new church building at St. Peter's had just been completed, fourteen years on from Katrina.
This interview was recorded on 3rd November, 2019 at Fr. Mike's house in Pascagoula, a stone's throw from Sacred Heart Catholic Church, from where he retired as pastor in 2019.
Fr. Mike died in February 2020 following a short illness.

Before establishing All Sports Recruitment Mark spent his final year as a college coach at Auburn University. Mark came to Auburn from the University of North Florida, where he was head coach of the men’s program for the past four seasons (2014-17), winning the Atlantic Sun tournament or regular season title three times.
Before North Florida, Mark spent five years at Memphis, helping them become one of the Top 20 teams in the nation. He was an assistant coach at Memphis for his first four years (2009-12) before being elevated to associate head coach prior to the 2013 season.
Mark played Division I tennis at both Georgia Southern and Memphis. While at Georgia Southern, he was named the 2002 Southern Conference Freshman of the Year, all-conference and the team’s MVP. Before leaving to go on a scholarship to the states, he represented Ireland as a Junior Olympian.

Eddie Lenihan is an Irish author, storyteller, lecturer and broadcaster. He is one of the few practising seanchaithe remaining in Ireland. He has been called "one of the greatest of Irish story-tellers" and "a national treasure".
I interviewed Irish Senator Marie Louise O'Donnell in January 2020.
This was my favourite interview so far.
Marie Louise O'Donnell tells a funny story about the reaction to her statement in the Seanad (Irish Senate) about the possibility of lowering the voting age to 16. She spoke strongly against such a move, and faced fierce criticism from both inside and outside the Seanad as a result of her remarks.
Eamon Ryan is the leader of the Green Party in Ireland. The General Election takes place on Saturday 8th February, 2020. He is running in the Dublin Bay South constituency. Eamon graciously agreed to talk to me while on the train from Cork to Dublin. I was lucky to steal a few minutes with him in the midst of a lively, busy campaign. I hope to get him again in the future and have a more lengthy conversation!

Former Irish Minister for Education Mary Hanafin has always lived an intensely political life. We spoke about what she has done since losing her Dáil seat in 2011, recent social change in Ireland, her role in Fianna Fáil, her relationship with Micheál Martin, and the need for recent youth activism to translate into more consistent and committed engagement with the established political system. I think it was a pleasant interview, and I enjoyed talking to my former local TD. She hopes to win election again in Dún Laoghaire in 2020.
Sports journalist Brian Barry joined me to talk about the last decade in Irish sport. His own work is focused on the GAA, but in our interview he effortlessly displayed his wealth of knowledge across a breadth of sporting disciplines. Brian discussed the top moments from 2010-19 in Irish soccer, Gaelic football, hurling, rugby, cricket, golf, boxing and of course, Conor McGregor. Brian also told me about his own career, and what it's like to be a journalist in today's volative media environment.
Victoria White is a Dublin-based writer in fact and fiction. She is also an environmental activist who wants to green the face of feminism. I thoroughly enjoyed our lively interview. I hope to do another in the future.
