John, Tom and James meet up on the Saints FC Podcast sofa to reflect on Southampton's 2017-18 season. The main focus of the nearly two hour chat is on what went wrong for Saints this season and how Mark Hughes managed to turn around Saints fortunes in the short period of time and get Saints over the line.
We also get a chance to reflect on the moments, players, heroes and villains of the season with the Saints FC Podcast awards.

Saints FC Podcast are lucky enough to be invited by Scott Charlton to 'An Evening With' Matt Le Tissier at Revolution in Southampton. We recorded the Q&A session as Saints fans got to ask questions of one of the greatest football players of a generation and Southampton hero!
They say never to meet your heroes. There's no such danger with Matt Le Tissier though, the guy is charming, funny and has great stories to tell about football.
John and Tom are joined by Duncan Alexander, author of Outside the Box and the brains behind Opta Joe. We reflect on Pellegrino's sacking as manager of Southampton and have a look at what our chances are of surviving relegation.
Duncan has some surprising statistics for us from his work at Opta, ranging from how Saints are an outlier in terms of performance in the Premier League right that way through to proof of Francis Benali being a lunatic!
In episode 30 of the Saints FC Podcast we discuss the last two results in the Premier League as we pick up two points from two big opportunities for Saints to press ahead and win some matches! I

The Saints FC Podcast is once again on the phone with a former Southampton great. This time its the 1997-98 Player of the Season and goalkeeper with over 200 appearances and 50 clean sheets for Southampton - Paul Jones.
Jones was a Welsh international for 9 years, even beating Ryan Giggs' monopoly on the Welsh player of the season on one occasion!
John and Tom are back on the sofa celebrating one year of the Saints FC Podcast. In the year since we started the podcast we've had over 21,900 downloads and have been averaging over 1,100 listens per episode since the start of the season. A big thanks to all our listeners, please keep downloading, subscribing, listening and letting us know your thoughts on twitter, e-mail, reddit and the forum. saintsfcpodcast@gmail.com @SaintsFCPodcast
John Bailey and Tom Parker meet up for another episode of the Saints FC Podcast. The draws against Watford and Tottenham come under scrutiny, as does Pellegrino (again), his in game management, surrendering points from winning positions and the lack of activity in the transfer window.
We go through a lot of listner correspondence, have a closer look at Michael Obafemi, Saints 17 year old debutant, and have a look forward to the games against Watford in the FA Cup and Bighton at home in the league.
John and Tom are back to review Saints last three fixtures, including the honourable draw at Old Trafford, the disappointing loss at home to Crystal Palace and the 3rd round FA Cup win against Fulham.
Is Pellegrino better against the big sides than against the sides we should be beating, how have we lost another must-win game at home, and are we harsh to say that the win against Fulham was unconvincing?
John is lucky enough to get a chance to speak to Saints legend Michael Svensson about his time at Saints, getting to the 2003 FA Cup final, playing for Gordon Strachan and a whole host of other topics as we discus his career.
We get a chance to put some listener questions to Michael, including whether he would prefer forks for arms or spoons for legs! Thanks to Les' Lamborghini for that one!
If you want to contact the podcast, do so in twitter @saintsfcpodcast or email saintsfcpodcast@gmail.com
Saints try and ruin the Christmas spirit with a disappointing run of fixtures, where losses to Leicester and Chelsea is followed by a failure to take three points at home vs. Huddersfield.
John is on the Isle of Wight staying with the outlaws, fortunately Mike (John's father in law) is a Southampton fan as well, so is able to step into Tom's shoes and discuss Saints form over three disappointing fixtures.
Episode 21 of the Saints FC Podcast covers the last five Southampton Premier League games, from the abysmal loss at Anfield, to the many reasons to be cheerful and hopeful from the games against Everton, Man City, Bournemouth and Arsenal.
Pellegrino is finally working out how to make Saints tick, showing some tactical nous, and players like Pierre Emile Hojbjerg, Jack Stephens and Charlie Austin get their season going.
The Saints FC Podcast were invited to Southampton's Staplewood Training Ground in Marchwood, Southampton, where a 'UK Media XI' including John from the podcast were playing against a Mauricio Pellegrino XI - made up from coaching staff, ex-players and staff from around Southampton FC.
John catches up with former Saints captain Dean Hammond, who led Southampton on the field through three fantastic seasons that saw Saints win the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, and secure back to back promotions from League 1 to the Premier League.
Tom and John discuss the disappointing loss at home against Burnley and the (ahem, yes) disappointing draw way at Brighton & Hove Albion.
Unfortunately this is not a cheery podcast as we try and work out why Saints results have been so poor. Whether Southampton have desreved to be on the receiving end of the results and whether Match of the Day's new statistic XG can provide an insight into what has been happening.
John Bailey and Tom Parker discuss the latest happenings at St Marys with a draw against Newcastle United and a win against West Brom courtesy of a Sofiane Boufal wonder goal.
Saints FC Podcast talk to Michael Cox author of The Mixer.
Michael Cox of ZonalMarking.net and the Totally Football Show podcast speaks to the Saints FC Podcast about all things tactics, following the release of 'The Mixer' a book he's written about 25 years of tactics in the Premier League.
The Saints FC Podcast are joined by Richard Chaplow all the way from Orange County in California, USA.
John is joined by both James and Tom for this episode of the Saints FC Podcast as they discuss their trip to Selhurst Park in the victory against Crystal Palace and the loss at St Marys to Manchester United.
John and Tom are back together in the famous Saints FC Podcast 'studios' to talk about what has gone wrong at Saints?
John and Tom get together again to discuss the summer that Southampton have had, with new manager Mauricio Pellegrino arriving from Alaves, players coming in and players leaving, transfer rumours and the incredibly annoying Virgil Van Dijk transfer scenario.
The Saints FC Podcast interview Hassan Kachloul.
Hassan Kachloul joined Southampton in 1998 and played for three seasons racking up 85 appearances and 15 goals from midfield.
Ken Monkou joins the Saints FC Podcast for a conversation. We cover his time at Southampton FC, Huddersfield, winning Player of the Year for Chelsea and his post football career tossing pancakes!
Ken Monkou played over 200 games for Saints in the Premier League, scoring over 10 goals including a vital last minute winner versus Norwich City in the famous 5-4 win for Saints and the first goal when Saints schooled Man Utd during the infamous 'invisible kit' day.
Ken takes us through disagreements with Graeme Souness, fashion advice from Ian Dowie and what part of the cake Matt le Tissier is.

The Saints FC Podcast is lucky enough to speak to Saints legend and former England international David Armstrong.
David is famous for playing as part of arguably one of the best Southampton sides ever including Mick Channon, Alan Ball and Kevin Keegan who came close to winning titles and trophies under Lawrie McMenemy.
David tells us about being involved in one of the greatest Saints goals ever, playing over 350 consecutive games while at Middlesborough and how he adapted to life after football following an injury that left him disabled from his mid 30s.
