In this episode, Melisa and Luke are live in Iowa at the DR 653-19 Headquarters. They talk to several volunteers in Headquarters who have deployed to Iowa to help, learn a lot about the amazing people of Iowa and bring light to the term "Iowa nice."
In this episode we have as a guest Connie Miley who is a Health Services volunteer from Wisconsin. In it we talk about what exactly Health Services is, and how it fits into the larger "Group" of Individual Disaster Care (IDC). We also discuss other happenings around the Red Cross, this current "Heat Wave" we are under and share many, many laughs!
In this episode Melisa and Luke get the "band back together again" just in time for Hurricane, Tornado, Flood, and Zombie/Wolf attack season. We discuss getting ready for these Disasters and also what is currently going on in the "Disaster World" with the Readiness Initiative and other enhances to Volunteer Connection.
In this episode we explore the Disaster Cycle Services group of Mass Care. In Mass Care, we explore the four activities of Feeding, Sheltering, Distribution of Emergency Supplies (DES) and Reunification. Our guests on the show are Paul Soebbing and Carol Mitten from Central and Southern Illinois. Somehow we were able to equate the songs "Cheeseburger in Paradise" and "Its Peanut Butter Jelly Time" to Mass Care, and enjoyed every minute of it!!
