East Coast Breakfast presenter Keri Miller is 'pregnant' thanks to Darren Maule's challenge. Tired of her bragging about how good she is with kids, he organised a special surprise to put Keri to the test. Darren arranged with Edit Microsystems to borrow their realCare Baby product, complete with a simulated baby and a realistic pregnancy suit, and Keri will be wearing this suit for a week. She'll experience what it's like to be pregnant and take care of a newborn baby.
On Monday, I needed a little break, so I took baby East to the beach for the first time... and the unimaginable happened!
Keri Miller took to the streets of Durban to ask the public how they felt about moms breastfeeding in public and she received some pretty interesting comments.
Does your child have a safety toy/item they absolutely cannot live without? And how serious is it if they don’t have it? Some kids will not sleep without it - or go anywhere without crying unless they have their safety thing. We asked our listeners & this is what they had to say:
Something I’ve noticed is that EVERYONE has their opinion on how to raise a child. Anyone who has had a child is very willing to give (unasked for) advice. Whether to use a dummy, what to feed them, how long to breastfeed for, sleep training. EVERYTHING. Do you find the constant advice helpful?
We asked our listeners if they've ever used their baby as an excuse to get out of doing something and their responses are hilarious!
We asked mom's to share their #ThingsEveryNonParentShouldKnow advice and some of these will scare you forever!
Every day Keri takes East home - she has to burp, feed, cradle and change him according to the set up of the baby simulator's computer. Yesterday Keri got 41% - forgetting to feed her baby the whole day. How well did she do on Day 2? Darren Maule reads out Keri's baby simulator data results
Yesterday got mixed reactions after she and baby East took to the shops for a little shopping. She got very exciting feedback from some shoppers, but most people were judgemental and disagreed with her choice of not having and wanting to have any children of her own.
We asked listners if think its natural for people to not want children, and this is what they had to say:
We asked moms to out their partner's and tell us how they reacted in the delivery room when it was baby-delivery time and the feedback is hilarious!
David Miller sent Keri a special message - we look forward to seeing David on babysitting duty:
"Yesterday was my first full day with baby East since he was 'born' and I'm about ready to give up!" - Keri Miller.
All week we have been collecting donations for #KeriHasABaby baby shower, but because Keri will be taking care of a baby simulator and not a real baby, we have decided to donate items on behalf of a well deserving charity that takes care of abandoned newborn babies. We surprised them with a call this morning:
I felt so uncomfortable when strangers kept coming up to me and touching my 'belly'. Would you allow people to touch your or your partner's belly when pregnant?
Keri wants to know whether she should find the gender of her 'baby' before it's born or wait until the big day - here's what our listeners had to say:
We asked our listeners if they've ever had or heard of strange pregnancy cravings and this is what they had to say:
As the Godfather, Sky was asked to get Keri her weird craving in the middle of the show. Did he manage to get it before his sports link?
On Friday we invite you to Keri's charity baby shower and all gift donations will go towards a charity!
Follow Keri's journey for the next two weeks as she experiences what it's like to be pregnant and having to take care of a newborn baby.
