Continuing from the two previous episodes on masculinity and femininity respectively, we use our previous analyses to craft some predictions for what we might expect from ‘The Rise of Skywalker’.

Many thanks to Christy Carew for the Scavenger's Hoard theme, and Nemling for our artwork.
In this episode, Rachael and Kirsty discuss the following news:
Building on last week's spotlight on the sequel trilogy's exploration of masculinity, we consider the other side of the coin - how the feminine is characterised in The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi (with some mild spec on The Rise of Skywalker, which we'll expand on in a further episode). Specifically, we focus on the myth of Cupid and Psyche, comparing it to the Rey and Kylo strand of the story and considering how the sequel trilogy both adheres to and subverts the structure of the myth.
We then dive deep into the implications of the sequel trilogy's emphasis on the feminine element, as manifest in Kylo Ren and Rey.

In this episode, Kirsty and Rachael cover all of the latest Star Wars news, including the announcement of the start of filming on the Han Solo spin-off, fresh details on the panel kicking off Star Wars Celebration and all the details on the home media release of Rogue One. This is our last episode for two weeks, but look out for the next episode in March - we can promise that it will be a good one!
In this episode, Kirsty and Rachael discuss all the latest news from the Star Wars world, covering our first look at Rey, Finn and Poe in The Last Jedi, the reveal that The Last Jedi refers to Jedi in the plural, and much more! We then round off the show with a listener question on how Kylo Ren's redemption might be handled in the future films.
In this news-only episode, Kirsty and Rachael discuss the latest casting news for the Han Solo spin-off before diving into a detailed discussion of the Reylo-centric news to have emerged in the past week - Judi Dench asking the million dollar question "what's the deal with Reylo?", and the official StarWars.com Databank providing something of an answer in a recent update that sheds light on the mysterious connection between Rey and Kylo Ren.
In Episode 16 of the Scavenger's Hoard podcast Rachael and Kirsty discuss the latest Last Jedi trailer rumours and the news that the Han Solo movie has started shooting. We then take a deep dive into the character of Leia, discussing her development over the course of the original trilogy and beyond. The show finishes with a couple of listener questions where you'll get to learn our favourite characters!
In Episode 15 of Scavenger's Hoard we discuss the big Star Wars news - the release of the title to Star Wars Episode VIII, The Last Jedi! We also cover comments made by Rian Johnson in a recent interview before launching into an extensive character discussion on Luke Skywalker, following his path from humble farmboy to mystical Jedi master.
In Episode 14 we have a brief news section before delving into a detailed discussion of Finn, covering his arc in The Force Awakens before speculating about where the character may be taken in the future films. We also discuss some juicy 4Chan rumours on Episode VIII before answering listener questions.
In this week's episode, Rachael and Kirsty turn their attention to Episode VIII as the publicity machine starts to kick into gear. We discuss Rian Johnson's recent comments to USA Today, the latest spoilers from Making Star Wars and rumours on when we can expect the first Episode VIII trailer. We then delve into an in-depth discussion of the Episode VIII spoiler scene, covering all of the information we have and covering a few of our predictions for the film.
Rachael and Kirsty start the show by paying tribute to Carrie Fisher and discussing her book The Princess Diarist. They then go on to discuss the news before turning the spotlight onto Rogue One and its reception, closing the shows with some listener questions.
Kirsty and Rachael are quick out of the gate with their Rogue One spoiler review! These represent our initial thoughts (we’ve both only seen it once), and we cover our feelings on everything from a certain Dark Lord of the Sith to the film’s politics and handling of its characters and plot.
We dive into spoilers from the outset, so it’s best to hold off listening to this until you’ve seen the film for yourself!
There has been something of a furore in Star Wars fandom of late, which was essentially triggered by people being told to shut up about "gender issues" in Star Wars. In response to this, we do the sensible thing and talk about gender issues in a podcast.

2.01.34-2.07.20 – We bite our teeth into one Redditor’s stab at a hypothetical Episode VIII teaser!
QUESTIONS
2.07.20 –2.12.54 – We answer “So my question is, from your perspectives, what types of revelations or scenarios are possible concerning the massacre? And how important is it in the first place, esp concerning Kylo and Rey (as we know now that Rey was definitely not trained by Luke)?” 2.12.54-2.19.04 – We answer “What are you guys' thoughts on the early MSW rumored subplot of Leia, Poe and Laura Dern? Where Laura Dern is a surviving Republic senator or General, who has conflict with Poe during Leia's injuries. Will Dern be a "shadow archetype" of Leia or Poe? Do you think they'll be a mini-resistance civil war? Leia followers vs Dern followers? Is this too much for Episode VIII to handle?” 2.19.04-end – We answer “Hi there! Wanted you ladies to know you run my number one choice in Star Wars podcasts by a long shot. I am also a believer in Reylo however my question doubles as a theory and it pertains to your comments that Rey having bested a wounded and emotionally bent Kylo leaves an interesting arc for their next confrontation. What if Rey, who has limited experience counting on others, is spared by Kylo thus confusing her emotionally-morally, bringing it full circle=Reylo/redemption.”
