Today we’re talking about fear as our kids are back in school.
Now, fear can have quite a broad meaning… it includes worry, anxiety, stress, and even guilt. I’m using the word "fear" to cover all of these feelings.
Your fear is telling you something.
It wants your attention. It needs to be heard.
So let's dive into exactly how to do that so we can be a little more relaxed around the scary things.

Happy back-to-school season. 'Tis the season of new routines and high emotions.
It’s the season where your super flexible kids become little monsters that dig their heels in over the stupidest things. Hahaha….alright, they’re not little monsters, but it sure can feel like it some days.
It’s the season of stubbornness, unrealistic demands, lengthy meltdowns, name-calling, and fighting more with their brother or sister, to name a few things you might see from your little one during the first few weeks of school.
This is NORMAL. Maddening as hell, but normal.
This is your child going through a period of change and not quite knowing how to process and deal with their emotions.
And we dive into the specifics in this episode. Enjoy :)

If you have a little one who is shy or super timid in new situations, then this will be a great episode for you.
We want to support our child's emotions, respect their need to take things slower, and trust that they’ll eventually get there at their own pace. We want them to know that we’ve always got their back and will be there for them when they struggle.
However, there are times when your child will have to push past their fear and walk into an uncomfortable situation. And they need to know they are capable of dealing with discomfort.
This is the gray area of parenting. This is where our goals or values may conflict with one another. So how do we navigate?

Who's ready and eager to get back into a routine as the school year starts up?
Hahaha.... I'm going to guess you're about 50/50 on that.
We KNOW there are pros and cons. We know there are good things about routines that make our lives easier.
And.... we also kind of resist routines because it restricts our freedom and can sometimes feel confining. Plus our kids might really resist at the beginning and that's no fun to deal with!
In today’s episode, we are going to talk about all things routines… why routines are important, and how to set up a great routine your kids will actually do without complaint.

If I had a dollar for every time a parent told me "I need to be more consistent" I'd be living a life of luxury on a beach somewhere :)
If being consistent, feels like a chore then you are doing this whole parenting thing absolutely perfectly :)
Sometimes it does feel like a chore....and that's usually an indicator (and nothing more).
Find out what I mean by listening to this episode.

If you're confused about what the difference between a consequence and a punishment is, don't stress. It's simple in theory, harder in practice.
In this episode, I break it ALLL down for you and when in doubt, trust that inner commentary in that beautiful head of yours above all else :)

If you are trying to cut out yelling (or any other tactic you don't want to use), you are in fact learning a new skill. When we're learning a new skill, there is a concept that we need to keep in mind. It's one that I explain to my kids all of the time when they get frustrated learning to read, drawing a picture, riding their bikes, etc.

There is a trend going on right now to give your child one day off of school each month to support their mental health. Although I strongly believe in supporting our children's mental health and well-being, giving them one day off a month is missing the point.

Parenting is SOOOO important and we care so much about our child, that it's hard not to worry about screwing them up.
I was asked the question on a recent podcast interview about how to show yourself grace and compassion even when we're struggling in our parenting.
So here are my thoughts.... enjoy!

We don’t often talk about frameworks in the land of parenting so I understand that there might be a bit of confusion around what a framework is, and how it can help you parent.
And I will admit, that as much as I believe wholeheartedly in using a framework approach in parenting, I have struggled to articulate exactly how it works and why it’s so important.
So in this episode, I discuss how the framework puts you into an observer position so you can assess what's going on with your child and how to "fix" it.

It's hard to believe that it's possible to get your kid to listen without yelling at them, because let's face it... it's the ONLY thing that works sometimes.
But getting them to listen without needing to resort to yelling, is much easier to get your head around when we break it down. Because then we can understand, it's all about basic communication and being in a relationship with another human being.
So let's dive in.

All misbehavior is a miscommunication, which means your child is telling you something each and every single time they act out.
They're not just doing it for fun. They're not trying to piss you off.
They are communicating in the only way they know how at that moment.
In this episode, I walk you through what happened when my son threw snow in my face and I break down his communication and what I did using my Positive Parenting Framework.

Today we are talking about sibling rivalry, sibling fighting, squabbling, bickering, name-calling pestering and bugging each other for seemingly NO REASON, always wanting what the other one has (despite not wanting it two seconds earlier), and constantly competing with each other.
I have a sibling rivalry masterclass coming up. Here is the link ---> https://www.parentingwithlindsay.com/offers/UMNFfT5W
I hope you can join me there if it resonates with you.
In this episode, we are talking about the KEY to guiding your kids through disagreement.
I've been getting this question more and more lately, or some version of this question. How do I stay patient? I just need someone to teach me how to remain calm. It feels like I have to be this calm, stoic parent but sometimes I just don’t have the patience.
Does this sound familiar?
In this episode, I'm going to go over exactly how to stay calm and patient with your kids -- OK, not exactly because our triggers are fairly individual. BUT, I discuss how to approach the overall goal of staying calm.
Enjoy!

Will our child be able to stand up to their peers? Will they be courageous enough to go against the crowd? Will they be confident to try something new?
Let's talk about one of the best ways to build confidence in our kids...
