The 2023 event is coming up fast (Sunday, August 20))and Tracy takes time out of her busy schedule to tell us all about this years event, the challenges she and her team face, and changes to the event because of the COVID-19 Pandemic.The Gran Fondo Lake Huron starts and finishes in beautiful Southampton, Ontario and it welcomes cyclists of all levels, offering scenic rides...including 3 new routes this year and ALL routes being run in reverse for a new experience. Routes this year include 110k, 75K, 30K, 80K gravel, 10K and a 1K kids ride.The Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation has a mission of raising and managing funds for equipment, facilities and staff development to ensure our community and visitors have access to the best possible hospital care. The Foundation is one of five Foundations supporting the 6 hospitals in Grey Bruce Health Services; Owen Sound, Markdale, Wiarton/Lion’s Head, Meaford and Southampton. Our fundraised dollars are used to purchase equipment for the Southampton site and our share, generally based on patient usage, for our regional hospital in Owen Sound.Also joining Dave today is Heather Hyde from Economic Development Saugeen Shores. In this episode of FEO on the Air we are joined by Rob Gray from Creative Club Global. For those who attended the FEO Conference in Richmond Hill, you will remember that Rob was the Hospitality Suite sponsor and built the lounge furniture and bar area out of Lego Blocks.
Creative Club is an educational organization committed to making learning come alive for students in elementary and middle schools through exciting programs, parties and camps focused on LEGO® bricks and robotics. We develop and deliver engaging and interactive programs to teach students STEM and STEAM (Science Technology Engineering, Arts and Math) principles, primarily through the use of LEGO® bricks, robotics and EverBlocks®. Creative Club Global also work with Festivals and Events to create unique LEGO® art installations, furniture and signage that gets attendees talking.

This is the first time we've spoken with Matt since he and his team set up the amazing experiences for our FEO Awards Gala evening in Richmond Hill. XEvents also created the look and feel for the Awards Gala the year before at our conference in the London Convention Centre. XEvents is a proud FEO Member and supplier for the last few years.
Matt and Dave chat about the NEW reality for festivals and events and the move by many to take their event into the digital realm. The desire by planners to do something to keep their festival or event top of mind and relevant despite the fact that they will not be able to conduct it in the same way because of the COVID-19 pandemic and the mandated social distancing.
The first big project they are working on is a 3-hour produced video package that can be customized by festival or event planners, municipalities, etc… so that they can still present Canada Day programming for their community. The video package will be professionally produced and will contain a Canada themed set, host, national anthem singer, cooking segment, trivia segment, Canadian music segment and so much more. This is the first time we've spoken with Adam since he hosted an information booth in the Marketplace at our annual conference this past February in Richmond Hill. Impact Canopy has been a long time supporter and member of FEO.
Adam and Dave chat about the continued need for the product Impact Canopy makes during the pandemic. Restaurants and retail businesses that are open require curbside pick up banners, signage, and canopies that can be converted into mini isolation chambers to keep both employees inside and customers outside safe and socially distanced.
Adam also spoke about the contributions that Impact Canopy is making to front line workers by producing face masks. This was a way to not only help the community but to keep the machines rolling and people employed during this difficult time. The grants pay particular attention to events that generate overnight stays and long term visitors to the Region of Waterloo and the surrounding area. The goal is to target visitors from a minimum of 40km away.
