Started as a side project in the midst of the COVID pandemic, this is now a personal audio journal where I share my thoughts, learnings, and random musings as I experience and learn various things while living my life as a regular human being and while creating content. There might be guests from time to time, but it's mostly going to be just me talking to my past self, my current self, my future self, and to you (my favorite listeners).
The past 17 months had been really interesting and I enjoyed all the hours I spent producing episodes for this podcast. But now, this podcast has reached its end because it has already fulfilled its purpose. Anyway, below are the questions I answered in the episode.
This might be the last episode for this podcast, but I am still producing episodes elsewhere.

I know it's too early for reviewing how I've fared toward my goals this year to call it a half-year review, but I'm doing it anyway. Better to do it early and realign things as soon as I can. This idea just crossed my mind because of a video about Schopenhauer's take on reading books in general. My voice is still a bit hoarse. Or it still doesn't feel normal to me. I need to do some vocal care, but it's Monday today so here's another episode for this segment. Below are the questions I answered today:
If you left this life tomorrow, how would you be remembered?
Beyond the titles that others have given you, who are you?
If you could live the next 24 hours and then erase it and start over just once, what would you do?
Is it possible to know the truth without challenging it first?
What word best describes the way you’ve spent the last month of your life?

Arnila Geronimo is currently working as a legal assistant in a government office and also an aspiring artist. She was one of my classmate/friend from high school and has actually already joined this podcast as a guest in the earlier seasons.
In this episode, we talked about learning how to do art by self-studying, doing self-assessments, experiencing self-discovery, and some bits about TikTok which I've no idea about. (Yeah, I don't use TikTok and it never crossed my mind to download the app. I'm still not.) Would you ever give up your life to save someone else?

Simon Cho is a native Korean who is recently taking his MBA in the Ateneo de Manila University. He spent a significant number of his youthful years in the Philippines while also having studied and worked in Canada, South Korea, and the US. While he already speaks English and Korean so fluently, he is also learning Mandarin (now at an advanced level) and is quite interested in improving his Tagalog.
In this episode, Simon shared some tips on how to do well in the Test of Proficiency in Korean (T stands for Test in TOPIK so TOPIK Exam sounds a bit redundant then LOL). He also shared how he thinks everyone could write better Korean essays and how to overcome language learning plateaus. There's quite a number of language learning tips spread out through the interview so pick them up and see what works for you best.
Simon also teaches Korean so if you're interested to learn by having him as a tutor, feel free to reach out to us and we'll get you connected to him.

How would you describe ‘freedom’ in your own words?
What is the most important thing you could do right now in your personal life?
If you could ask one person, alive or dead, only one question, who would you ask and what would you ask?

Hello! This segment is now back to being recorded in English. I pulled off an entire month of doing this in Filipino for the month of August and it was quite challenging. Moving forward, all the 365 Questions episodes will be recorded in English. As usual, below are the questions I answered in this episode: Is there such a thing as perfect? To what degree have you actually controlled the course your life has taken? What does it mean to be human? If you looked into the heart of your enemy, what do you think you would find that is different from what is in your own heart? What do you love most about yourself? This is part of a challenge which I'm doing on my podcast - to answer 365 thought provoking questions impromptu. This month, I'm trying to answer everything in Filipino. --------- Ang episode na ito ay nasa wikang Filipino (sa abot ng aking makakaya) dahil nga sa Buwan ng Wika ang Buwan ng Agosto. Ito ang mga tanong na sinagot ko sa episode na ito: Who do you think stands between you and happiness? What is the difference between innocence and ignorance? What is the simplest truth you can express in words? What gives your life meaning? Can there be happiness without sadness? Pleasure without pain? Peace without war? What’s the one thing you’d like others to remember about you at the end of your life?
In the haste of your daily life, what are you not seeing? If life is so short, why do we do so many things we don’t like and like so many things we don’t do? Have you ever regretted something you did not say or do? Has your greatest fear ever come true? Why do we think of others the most when they’re gone?

Andrew is a friend with whom I can talk about books and ideas for hours. He is Taiwanese and we've only met over two years ago. We don't really talk often, but when we do we'd usually take hours talking about the different books we've been reading, the ideas we have in mind, our curiosities about progress and development, and so on.
In this episode, we talked about our reading habits, the books we've recently read, some ideas that fascinate us and more.

Thank you very much for listening! See you around :)
Hello! Thank you for checking out my podcast. This is a weekly segment (kind of a bonus episode) that is based on the 365 table talk questions. I'm answering 5 questions a week and it might not be of interest to you unless we actually know each other. You're free to listen if you want to keep going. If not, please note that my full episodes (usually with guests) are being released weekly every Saturday. Happy listening!
It's August and it's Buwan ng Wika in the Philippines so this segment will be in Filipino throughout the whole month.
Below are the questions I tried to answer:
Where do you find inspiration? Can you describe your life in a six word sentence? If we learn from our mistakes, why are we always so afraid to make a mistake? What impact do you want to leave on the world? What is the most defining moment of your life thus far?
Charlie is currently studying and doing research in Hong Kong. He used to be an instructor in the Department of Chemical Engineering in the University of the Philippines Diliman and I've been lucky to have him as my instructor in one of my majors. In this episode, I asked him about his motivations for pursuing a career in research and in the academe. He mentioned a bit about his current studies (water viruses), the joy he gains from teaching, and his recent experience of cooking adobo. There's a lot more fun stuff we talked about. Watch/Listen to know more! This episode is also available on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBS6lrzm2Uw

What is the most desirable trait another person can possess? What are you most grateful for? Is stealing to feed a starving child wrong? What do you want most? What has life taught you recently?
I invited a stranger-turned-into-friend from a language exchange app called HelloTalk to become my guest in this episode. We haven't really talked much on the app. We've only had a number of conversations going and when I posted an invite for podcast guests, he volunteered and so we have this episode! In this episode, Alex and I talk about the app where we met (HelloTalk), a number of things about language learning, and the Korean social networking sites that are popularly used in Korea. Brands and apps mentioned here are not sponsors. They're just things we use and know. :)

These are the questions I answered: When was the last time you listened to the sound of your own breathing? What’s something you know you do differently than most people? What does ‘The American Dream’ mean to you? Would you rather be a worried genius or a joyful simpleton? If you could instill one piece of advice in a newborn baby’s mind, what advice would you give?
Macey Mapanao is my college friend and batchmate from the Department of Chemical Engineering in UP Diliman. She's now nearing her third year working in Australia and we haven't seen each other since our university days.

Other things we discussed in this episode include
Filipino communities
Covid situation
Work culture and lifestyle adjustments
Work-life balance
Public transport
Renting and utility fees
Acquiring citizenship
and more... in Australia.

My first try at doing a Korean ASMR. I am still unable to whisper in Korean without becoming very inaudible, so this is the softest voice I can use (for now). These are just my thoughts whenever it rains. I also shared a few remarkable memories I have with rain and rainstorms. I am thinking of creating more content like this in the future. This has a video version on YouTube as well - https://youtu.be/liXNyCs2AwE. Check it out and let me know what you think
Yza was my batchmate in college. We both studied chemical engineering. I invited her to appear on my podcast and discuss the following topics: 1. What is the most important thing you learned during your college days which you find as still very relevant now? 2. What are the things you wished you learned before joining the workforce? 3. What would be your advice to college students or recent graduates who are now transitioning to "adulting" and will soon become part of the workforce? We also talked a lot about random stuff. Throughout June, I answered 30 out of the popularized 365 questions to have some introspection and to also test and improve on my spontaneity. I came to know myself better after answering all these 30 questions and I might do this again (hopefully not alone next time). Tell me what you think! Follow me wherever you may find me. I'm on Facebook, IG, Twitter, LinkedIn. And yes, I'm in Manila, but please don't go around following me physically. That's just not the way this works! See you around the internet!
This episode is recorded spontaneously without any preparation. Below are some of the topics I've touched:
Improvised episode (everything I said in this recording is done spontaneously)
Using voice notes on Evernote
How to have a deeper-sounding voice
The way we speak English
The idea of mirroring
A book called "The Worst is Over"
Review of this month's episodes
Listening to podcasts while doing something else
Running (I actually love running)
Being qualified to talk about something and our prejudices
Learning Mandarin
Expanding Limits
Trying to be forgetful of feelings and emotions (Basketball players are usually like this, too)
Personality isn't Permanent (a book by Benjamin Hardy)

This episode is 90% English, 10% Filipino. Listen at your own risk :D J Villanueva is a high school science teacher, a trainer, a theater actor and an improv player with so many years of experience (despite him being super humble). In this episode, we talk about improv concepts which people may find helpful in navigating through our day-to-day lives. Listen to know more! A bonus episode on a hypothetical topic. Listen to me lazily reading an article I wrote just this week. Or read along. The article can be found here: https://medium.com/@RomeJuanatas/what-if-i-won-6-million-usd-via-lottery-today-1142f0cbd9d8 You can give me claps on the article, comment your own plan, or send me a message on my Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/RomeisinManila/ If you want to give an anonymous feedback, comment, or suggestion, use this https://bit.ly/2BaGFbG Thank you!
Four friends recall their experiences and share realizations from doing a provincial theater production over 10 years ago, me included! This is more like an online catch-up date amongst friends with a twist. If you know the four of us, it'd be easier to relate. But even if you didn't, it's okay to sneak in and eavesdrop. We won't mind! If you have anything to say, you can reach me out through my Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/RomeisinManila/ Thanks for listening!
Bonus Episode on Time Management. This is a reading + commentary on my best performing article on Medium.com. You can find the article here and read along: https://medium.com/the-ascent/what-if-i-only-had-24-hours-a-day-d0f1262588e4 If you have a Medium account, you can also give the article a clap, or even write comments. Do you know why carrots are orange? Nah, that's not the topic we're having here. Instead, we're looking to discover what the orange carrot in the language-learning universe is. This is also the final episode for the season and I probably won't be talking about language learning for a little while. For comments, feedback, and suggestions, please reach me out on my Facebook page: http://facebook.com/RomeisinManila
How to just chill and learn languages? Netflix? Play music? What else? What else is there for us to learn efficiently while just having fun? Find out more by listening to this episode. For comments and suggestions, please reach out to me on http://facebook.com/RomeisinManila
Still on language learning, how do you encounter words and make them stick in your brain long-term? Here I share two techniques which I find helpful - the missing key and the island technique. Listen to this episode and try it out for yourself. If you have questions, comments, or suggestions, please feel free to reach me out through http://www.facebook.com/RomeisinManila
This month of May, I decided to share more about language learning. This episode is about the first steps one need to take when learning a foreign language or learning anything actually. Listen to this episode and let me know your thoughts. Find me on Facebook: http://facebook.com/RomeisinManila

We're all naturals at learning foreign languages and adding a foreign language in our skill set adds so much value to us as people. Here's why I think the Filipino Youth should pay more attention to improving their language skills. What are your thoughts on this? Drop us a comment at http://facebook.com/RomeisinManila

This is a story on productivity and survival during these trying times. I share about how I keep myself productive while keeping my sanity. We're probably experiencing the same things. Share your own stories. Find me on Facebook at http://facebook.com/romeisinmanila
This is not a sob story. It's simply a retelling of two memorable moments of when I got lost and my recent realizations about finding ourselves rather than waiting to be found. Plus, this is the first episode where I'm introducing myself not as Ando but as Rome. Enjoy listening!
Here's a message for my fellow podcast enthusiasts. I also share a few things I've learned from starting a podcast and being a part of a podcast community in the Philippines. I also mentioned about my future hopes. I'd like to know yours as well. Share it!
When I was six, I had three classmates who made me believe I had superpowers. In this episode, I share more details about that story and a few of the things that I learned about myself. Did you have any similar experience? If you did, I'd love to know about them. Reach me out on Facebook or through my email.
In this episode, I share four poems which I wrote about four women whom I have come to know from my childhood until my teenage years. I think these stories have somehow formed how I view women in my life. And toward the end, I also mention why I write poems or write stories in relation to creating physical files/artifacts for memories. You can find my old poems on my Facebook page called "Lyrico Hijo".
This episode is in full Korean. Here I share another four-word or four-syllable proverb which I learned in Korea. It's about not forgetting one's first heart. I also wrote a song with the same title and if you're interested to listen to it, I have a video posted on Youtube. You can use this link to watch it: https://youtu.be/i9cRW5c4Qr0
This is a four-word proverb that I learned when I visited Busan for something that's totally not related to learning Korean. For me, in a few words, it means consistency and persistence. Find out more by listening to this episode.
I recently came across a video by Nathaniel Drew wherein he created a video message for his future self. While this concept is not really new and I have been doing this by actually writing letters on paper for my future self (I don't know where those are right now), I just thought this method can be a way to remind my future self to look back on my journey to becoming the person I am yet to become. (PS. I am forgiving myself for mispronouncing "patreon")
"Ang currency na gamit ko ay kuwento!" Here I am sharing my raison d'etre for podcasting - my new found passion project. I also share a bit about my first few exposures to acting and what I've learned about acting on stage and acting in real life. This is my contribution to the world for now - stories. What's yours?
Hello! Here I share my story about introversion in a different language and in a different light. For everyone who saw the Korean version and didn't understand me completely, this is for you. This is not a mere translation and there are some stories here and there that don't appear in the Korean and vice-versa. Hope you get some bits of wisdom here!
Do you like reading books? I do! This is in Filipino and I share about some of the books I've recently read and my views on reading and learning.
Are you an introvert or do you identify more as an extrovert? I usually identify myself as an introvert and here's my story. This episode is in full Korean, but I plan to release an English version (not translation!) next week. So if you don't speak Korean, don't worry but just watch out!
This is my first full-length episode and here I try to remember fond memories of how I got to learn the languages that now makes me whole as a person - Pangasinan, English, Filipino, and Korean. In this time of Covid-19, it's a little hard to just stay at home and do nothing so I decided I'd look back at these memories and share them with you. Listen to this episode and you'll get to know me better and perhaps you'd also pick a few language-learning tips scattered here and there. Thank you!
Here I am introducing myself and this podcast channel in Korean. I didn't realize I'd get my tongue twisted for trying to do introductions in three language. See you next week for my first official full episode!!!
This is not the first episode of my podcast. It's just a way of me introducing the podcast and myself before I officially produce episodes from the following week. This intro is in English. I'll have another two - one in Filipino and the other in Korean.
