Following Jesus' atoning death and triumphal resurrection, the final chapter in the emergence of God’s Kingdom began Easter afternoon and continues until Christ's return. Its heart is Holy Spirit-empowered proclamation of repentance in Jesus’ name to the ends of the earth. Like Eden's garden and Old Testament Israel, today's Church is where God's laws are established, where His presence is known, where the heavenly realities of love and forgiveness and salvation are experienced. We welcome to our pulpit this Sunday, Lee DeYoung who brings us this week's message as an extension of Pastor Mark's Lenten series "The Darkness Before the Dawn" and Easter's jubilant culmination "Dawn Has Come."

This is the second of three recordings of Hager Park Easter Sunday worship. April 4, 2021
Pastor Mark's Easter message in culmination of the Lenten series, "The Darkness Before the Dawn"
The Darkness is closing in on Jesus. Everyone seems to be against him. The Religious Leaders of His own people, The Roman Government represented by Pilate, Herod, and even the Crowds gathered for Passover. But in the midst of all that, Jesus is at peace! In fact, in our scripture reading (Luke 23:1-25) Jesus only speaks four words. Jesus is a non-anxious presence in the middle of a tightening noose of darkness. How? And what can we learn for our lives today.
After Jesus was mocked and beaten they blindfolded him and said many insulting things to him (vs. 63-65). At the "Blind Trial" before Pilate and Herod religious leaders are simply corroborating what they already believe.
How’s your prayer life? Have you ever prayed to God and received silence? Sometimes it seems like God isn’t listening. In those moments or even seasons, it can feel like the darkness is closing in and becoming heavier and heavier. Yet God is always with us, and God hears every prayer. In those moments Jesus set the example for us with His “Garden Prayer,” even as He told His disciples to pray so they wouldn’t fall into temptation. Our Heavenly Father loves us all the time, even when we fail and don’t understand what He is doing. Join us this Sunday as we go with Jesus into the darkness of Gethsemane.
The second message in our Lenten series, “The Darkness before the Dawn”. This week we will explore the warning Jesus gives of coming darkness in (Luke 22:7-34). Even as Jesus gives His disciples the hope of His new covenant represented in the bread and wine of His Last Supper, Betrayal and Denial loop.

Pastor Mark Kleinheksel begins our Lenten journey “The Darkness before the Dawn” tracking the growing darkness that leads to Jesus’ Death on Good Friday and ultimately His resurrection on Easter Sunday (April 4, 2021). On this first Sunday of Lent we will look at what makes Judas Iscariot a willing participant in Satan’s plot to snuff out the light of the World, Jesus!

Message by Pastor Mark
"The Word" both the written Word and the living Word of God. Can you separate the two? What's the difference? And what does it mean to Follow the Way in regard to The Word. It's popular to say one is better than the other, to follow one and not both, is that even possible.
John 1 :1-3

Mark 1 14 - 20
Message by Pastor Mark.
When we become a Christian and receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we gain eternal life and The Holy Spirit who directs our path along the Way as we follow Jesus. But that means we give up our own way. That doesn’t mean we lose our uniqueness. But it does mean that Uniqueness reflects Jesus in everything we say and do. When you look at the Moon on a clear summer’s night, it’s obvious that the Moon is unique and different than the earth or the Sun. But the Moon as unique and beautiful as it is, doesn’t shine its own light, it reflects the light of the Sun. And we as Christians, must reflect the light of the SON, as well.
Colossians 1 15 - 20
Message by Pastor Mark.
What do you call our gathering at the Lord's Table? Scripture makes minority references like: "Love Feast", "The Lord's Table" and "The Breaking of the Bread". But The Church has landed on three main names for our celebration at the table. As we partake in this celebration together we will discover just how our names for this table meal reflect what happens when we partake.

As 2020 comes to a close, our need to seek the King does not. With the world around us swirling about it can be difficult to keep your mind set on what’s most important. Join us this Sunday as we take a look at the “Wise Men” and what they can teach us as we head into a new year.
Matthew 2:1-23
Message by Pastor Mark.
Shepherds were not on the top rung of the social ladder in Jesus' Day. In fact, they were pretty much at the bottom of the heap. So, why does God choose to announce the birth of His Son to them ahead of all others? Could it be that in the Birth of Jesus, God was redefining our understanding of what’s important and who’s included on His royal guest list? Jesus later will say, “The first will be last and the last first.”
Message by Pastor Mark.
Joseph pursued Mary to be his wife. God pursued Mary to be His servant. Joseph pursued his own understanding of the situation. God pursued Joseph with His Spiritual Truth. Joseph accepted God’s truth and pursued God’s truth in obedience. God pursues us in Jesus. Jesus is the physical manifestation of God’s pursuit of us. All we need to do is believe, receive, and pursue Jesus.
Matthew 1:18-25
Message by Pastor Mark.
Christmas is a glorious time of celebration. We remember the birth of our savior and we celebrate family and the practice of gift-giving. But sometimes our plans change. Sometimes things happen like a pandemic that changes everything. But sometimes God’s will changes everything and we lose sight of the glory of Christmas under the weight of the expectations of Christmas. In these moments we need to recognize, like Mary, that God is the one who carries us through the weight of the season to the Glory of His Son.
Luke 1:26-45, 56
Message by Pastor Mark.
Have you ever really stopped and pondered what it would be like to actually be in the Christmas Story? You know, actually, step into the shoes of the very characters we’ve come to know and love who make up the story of Christmas. If you really take a moment, close your eyes and imagine the scene, the landscape, the history, the culture, the sounds and the smells I wonder if you would start to sense and see something new, something fresh in this most beloved of all stories. The events of the Christmas story took place in real-time, to real people, with real lives and it changed them in very real ways.
Luke 1:5-25
Message by Pastor Mark.
We have asked God to search us, shape us, and break us. This sermon shows the importance of asking God to send us. Being available to what God has for you is so important.
Isaiah 6:1-8
Message by Pastor Cam.
The Christian life is radically self-refusing and radically Christ-exalting. This is the hardest and most rewarding part of the Christian life. "God, Break me," is a prayer that many will not want to pray, but when prayed, God will answer it in a way that you cannot deny.
Matthew 16:24-27
Message by Pastor Cam.
When we pray, “Search me,” we are asking God to take a deep look into our hearts and reveal any dirt. But after we see the sin in our lives what do we do? Where do we turn when our deepest sins are umasked in front of us? To be a faithful steward of God’s revelation, the prayer "Search Me" must be followed by the prayer “Shape Me.” Something is always shaping us - let it be Jesus.
1 Timothy 6:11-16
Message by Pastor Mark.
Is the goal of the Christian life safety? Well, eternal safety, for sure. But what about our life here on earth. Is God’s goal for us as Christians to keep us safe from all danger? If you listened to our prayers you might think that’s the only goal. Maybe we should be praying something a bit more dangerous, a bit more revealing about the condition of our hearts.
Psalm 139:23-24
Sometime our anger is righteous anger. And sometimes our response to that righteous anger is also a righteous response. Moses had good reason to be angry with the Nation of Israel when they decided to worship a golden calf instead of their Holy God. He also responded to their sin with a consequence that fit the crime. But what was it that caused the Israelites to turn from God in the first place?
Exodus 32:17-24
J.P. Sundararajan (The RCA’s director for Global Mission) preaches from his least favorite passage of scripture in the whole Bible. Yet, this scripture is integral to his story. A story of how God brought a kid from India to the United States and into the Reformed Church in America family and now the Director of Global Mission for the Reformed Church in America.
John 11:1-11
Message by Pastor Mark.
King David, “burned with anger” when the priest Nathan came to him and shared with him the details of a civil suit with which he was struggling. A rich man takes a poor man’s only lamb and serves it up as dinner for a traveler who stops by his home one day. He leaves the poor man with nothing. David declares, “The man must die! And pay restitution 4x the amount stolen!”
Nathan then said to David, “You are the man!” Yikes! Now what?
2 Samuel 12:1-13
Message by Pastor Mark.
Uzziah was one of the Good Kings in Judah. He reigned in Jerusalem for 52 years. But something happened that turned a good King bad. That something was anger and an unrepentant spirit. But the anger was an outflow of others sins that had creeped into his life over time. Let's learn how to finish well and see God’s favor continue through our lives from beginning to end.
2 Chronicles 26:16-21
Message by Pastor Mark.
In your anger, it is easy to shut the door on God and not trust that God has a plan for it and is constantly pursuing you in and with His love. In the story of Cain murdering his brother, Abel, we see God's amazing love in the midst of Cain's jealous rage.
Genesis 4:1-16.
Message by Pastor Mark.
In Jonah Chapter 4:3, Jonah says, “Lord, take away my life, for it is better for me to die than to live” (because he is so angry). What’s surprising, Jonah’s anger is directed at God because He is so Gracious. What???? Jonah wants to die because God is too gracious???? Yep! And sometimes our anger is just like Jonah’s.

Message by Pastor Mark.
Judas (Iscariot) was given every opportunity to be shaped for greatness. Instead, he squandered the opportunity that Jesus laid before him and sold his soul to the Devil. He gave up everything to follow Jesus but never gave him his heart. He was more interested in his own goals and ambition than with Jesus' transformation. The Last Supper was his Last Chance and a tiny little shift in his response to Jesus would have made a seismic shift in his life and eternity.
Message by Pastor Mark.
Not all the 12 disciples are well known and famous. Some of these disciples are not spoken of. This should give us hope that we can do great things for the Kingdom of God.
Matthew 10:1-5, Revelation 21:14
Message by Pastor Mark.
In John 11:1-16 we are introduced to Thomas for the first time. He is ready to die with Christ. But Jesus has other plans for him and the rest of the disciples. He is ready to give them a glimpse of the future and prepare them to LIVE for Him and change the world with the message that even death could not hold Jesus.
Message by Pastor Mark.
Matthew, or Levi, was a disciple of Jesus, but slightly different from the rest as he was a tax collector, one of the most despised occupations of the day. Looked down upon by men, Matthew felt something needed to change in his life and when Jesus called, Matthew answered the call.
Luke 5:27-32
Message by Pastor Cam.
Bartholomew/Nathanael was rarely mentioned in Scripture. However, he was called ‘an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no deceit.’ High praise for an ordinary person. Let that be said of us as we seek to better follow the Rabbi, Jesus. Join us on Sunday as we learn from Nathanael the human, the seeker, the true Israelite."
John 1:43-51
"Philip is your classic 'Process Person'", says John MacArthur. Philip needed all the details for every situation. He was a planner and wanted to have everything figured out in advance. Faith was difficult for Philip and Jesus needed to teach him that "full" faith in Jesus is required for greatness.
John 6:1-15
Message by Pastor Mark.
We know a lot about the Apostle John, mostly from his own writings. Aside from Paul and Luke, John wrote more of the New Testament than anyone else (guided of course by the Holy Spirit). John wrote his gospel, I. II. III John, and the book of Revelation. From his writings many gave him the nickname, “The Apostle of Love” because he spoke more of the importance of Love than any other New Testament writer. However, it wasn’t always that way. He and his brother were first called “Son’s of Thunder” by Jesus for good reason. Join us this Sunday as we explore how Jesus formed and transformed John from a “Son of Thunder” to “The Apostle of Love” How Jesus shaped John for Greatness.
Mark 9:33-40
Message by Pastor Cam.
We all have different passions, but at the top of all of our lists should be Jesus. James, the Son of Zebedee, a Son of Thunder, is a disciple filled with passion for the Lord. Passion can be a great thing when it is rightly focused and dangerous when it is not. Jesus shaped James into a man who was able to shape his passion and focus his mission.
Luke 9:51-56
Message by Pastor Cam.
Jesus' disciples came from various backgrounds and temperaments. Andrew was a behind the scenes worker who is known for his ability to welcome people to Jesus. This morning we look at Andrew's quiet confidence in his Savior, Jesus Christ.
John 1:35-42
Message by Pastor Mark.
Are Leaders Born or Made? This is the age-old question. Great Leaders are born with some of the right raw material but unless it is shaped by the master that leadership potential may never be developed. However, we all lead something even if it's simply ourselves, and we all need Jesus to shape us for greatness to lead in whatever arena He has placed us. Peter was shaped for greatness by Jesus and we are too.
Luke 22:31-32
Message by Pastor Cam.
This morning we begin our summer sermon series titled, "Shaped for Greatness." We will journey through the Gospels seeing how Jesus shaped and molded His 12 disciples, and countless others, to be ready and able to spread the Gospel message to the nations.

Christ is Risen! Jesus has eliminated fear and given us the Spirit. Our faith does not have to be perfect, but Jesus Himself perfects our faith and gives us grace.
Message by Pastor Mark.
Palm Sunday is the day we celebrate Jesus coming into Jerusalem. The day that Jesus was hailed as the king He is. This was the beginning of the week that led to our salvation. Jesus came in an unpredictable way to bring about unpredictable salvation. Now we get to join in this unpredictable love.
Message by Pastor Mark.
The Jesus Creed is the backbone of Jesus' ministry and we can see it being played out through everything that He teaches. This morning we focus on the Table - the Lord's Supper along with the very table we all meet around and eat at. Jesus is calling us to use our table as a way to love God and love others.
Mark 2:13-17
Message by Pastor Cam.

Luke 15:1-2, 11-31
Message by Pastor Mark.
This Lenten Season we are diving into the Jesus Creed (love God, love Others). This morning's message focuses on the Lord's Prayer - essentially Jesus' prayer that follows the same cadence as the Jesus Creed. Adapted from a Jewish prayer (the Kaddish), Jesus' prayer focuses on both God and human beings.
Matthew 6:9-13
Message by Pastor Mark.
Our Lenten series is titled, "Living the Jesus Creed." The Jesus Creed is Jesus' answer to the question 'what is the greatest commandment?' Jesus takes the traditional Jewish Creed, the Shema from Deuteronomy 6, and adds a portion from Leviticus 19:18. This is the core of the Christian life - love God and love your neighbor.
Message by Pastor Mark
Because of the amazing grace of God we are forever and always loved with the intense and perfect love of God. It is time that we live into that love and into our new identity as child of God, saved and redeemed by the Savior, loved.
1 John 3:1-3
Message by Pastor Mark
Jesus desires all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength. Pastor Mark takes a look at some people from the Bible to see how they were 'Jesus Freaks;' they were all in and devoted to Jesus despite their worldly circumstances. Are we obsessed with Jesus or are we just good church members?
Philippians 1:19-26
Message by Pastor Mark
Hebrews 11 is often called the Faith Hall of Fame. What's important to remember is every single person in this Hall of Fame were flawed and broken people just like us today. It is also important to note that God used them in unbelievable ways because they were willing to step out in faith so that God could use them powerfully. Pastor Mark calls us to take steps of faith to see how God can and will use you in your everyday life.
Message by Pastor Mark
Like any relationship, our love for Christ needs to be cultivated and expanded. Christ's love is shown for us throughout history, His Word, His creation, and His ministry (past and present). Our love for Him, however, does not always shine through our private lives into our public lives. Today we take a look at Psalm 63 and what it means to pursue a real loving relationship with our Savior.
Pastor Mark takes us through the parable of the sower and how it relates to the Christian life. The life of a Christian is one of following the Savior of the world, Jesus. Following Jesus goes hand in hand with producing fruit; the question we ask then is, "Am I producing fruit?"
Matthew 13:1-9
Message by Pastor Cam
It is amazing how much our human experience does not change as the times and technology change. Jesus' words to the church in Laodicea reveal a lot about how He desires Christians to live, no matter the culture around them. Jesus is calling us to be aware. Live an examined life that is relying on His power and His love.
Message by Pastor Mark
All of our acts are tainted by sin, however we have a God who is able to forgive all of our sins. The God of the universe is crazy in love with you and He acted on our behalf...it's only because He acted on our behalf that we can come to Him.
John 3:16-17
Message by Pastor Cam
2020 is a new year filled with endless possibilities. One of the things we hope for as a church is deepening our relationship with Jesus Christ over this next year. We desire to fall more and more in love with Him and let His Word become more and more engrained in our vocabulary and life.
Psalm 19
Message by Pastor Mark
Who sits on the throne of your heart? In an American culture rampant with self-fulfillment and chaos, Jesus calls us to a different lifestyle. Jesus calls us to put Him on the throne and serve Him over ourselves. Jesus calls us to die to ourselves so that we can truly experience Joy.

Matthew 1:1-17
Message by Pastor Mark
Isaiah said of the promised Messiah, “The people walking in darkness have seen great light…He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." Thanks for journeying with us and if you missed any message take a listen in our podcast or online at hagerpark.org.

Foundations - our series through the Apostles' Creed is coming close to the end, but still has a lot of powerful truths to proclaim. This week's message is on the line: "I believe in...the forgiveness of sins."

The Holy Spirit is the focus of this message. A different place for the Spirit in the Reformed Church. In this message Pastor Mark Kleinheksel takes a look at what Jesus says about the role of the Holy Spirit in the Gospel of John. The Spirit does not point to Himself, but to the Son - what a beautiful image of selfless love.
Pastor Cameron Beidler continues the series 'Foundations' where we are diving deep into the Apostles' Creed - the Christian creed that is has been held by Christians throughout history and the world. Message by Pastor Mark
In our journey through the Apostles' Creed we reach the turning point in salvation history - the humiliating and offensive death of Jesus, our Christ. "Jesus...was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead."
John 19:16-42 & 1 Corinthians 2:1-2
Message by Pastor Cam
Jesus suffered under Pontius Pilate...why is this important? Why does it matter that Pontius Pilate was named in the Apostles' Creed? No other human being (besides Jesus) is named in this creed. The Apostles' Creed is universally accepted by every Christian tradition around the world and is the basic set of beliefs that are needed to be a Christian. This message digs into the prophecy of Jesus' suffering and its fulfillment and gives a glimpse into the importance of this part of the Apostles' Creed.
Isaiah 53:4-10, Mark 15:15-20
Message by Pastor Mark
Have you ever wondered about the Virgin Birth? Based on what we know about reproductive science, it’s impossible. For some that makes this doctrine of our faith unbelievable and even scandalous. Yet, as Christians we believe that it’s true. But do you know why it’s important to our faith that it is true?
Message by Pastor Mark
Foundations is our series going through the Apostles' Creed, one of the documents that is upheld by every Christian tradition in every culture. In the RCA Church, children have been welcome to receive the Sacrament of Communion for 30 years, but many churches are stuck in their tradition of having children profess their faith before doing so. Idolatry is running rampant in our consumer culture. We are taught by the world to constantly seek and desire more. When this happens we often lose our lofty view of the God who spoke all thing into existence. How do we combat our idolatry? Not by focusing on them, but by focusing on God. Pastor Cam brings us through Habakkuk 2:18-20 and reveals how the truths of the idols reveal greater truths about God.

Habakkuk 2:6-17
Message by Pastor Mark
God's second response to Habakkuk is not exactly what he was expecting. Wait. Even when you can't see how God is working, wait. "It will not delay." Pastor Mark Kleinheksel speaks about how we are supposed to wait while we are in life's detours. We are called to wait upon the Lord - an active waiting.
Pastor Mark Kleinheksel dives into Habakkuk's second complaint to God. God doesn't work in our timing and in our ways. When you are on a detour do as Habakkuk does - rehearse the truth of who God is to yourself.

God uses many means to get our praise while we use any means to escape our pain. Habakkuk is realizing how God works through the evil of this world. Suffering is a part of the world, that will never change, but Habakkuk is seeing how his mindset needs to change in the midst of suffering.
God alone brings life from death - His will through suffering - addition through negation.
Habakkuk 1:5-11
Sermon Notes: Addition Through Negation Habakkuk 1:5-11
Message by Pastor Cam
As we journey through the book of Habakkuk this summer, we begin with him as He pleads with God for His justice. There is a lot going on within God's chosen people that I do not want to see happening in the Church today. We need each other and we need God so that we can be the people God has called us to be.
Habakkuk 1:1-4
Message by Pastor Mark
Habakkuk is a minor prophet who often times gets overlooked. Habakkuk journeys with God as he attempts to truly figure out how God acts against evil. His mindset changes as he stays determined to focus on God through the pain.
This Father's Day we take a look in Genesis 3 at the role of a man, husband, and/or father. We relate the failure of Adam to the example of Christ, the second Adam.
Genesis 3:1-7
On this Pentecost Sunday we remember the coming of the Holy Spirit to move in and through our lives. The Spirit causes hearts to change. The Spirit causes lives to be transformed.
Acts 2:1-12, 36-47 June 9, 2019
What is the role of the church? Pastor Mark takes a look at what is often referred to as "The Love Chapter" of 1 Corinthians and gives great insight on its implications for the church today.
1 Corinthians 13
John 21:1-22
1 Afterward Jesus appeared again to his disciples, by the Sea of Galilee.[a] It happened this way: 2 Simon Peter, Thomas (also known as Didymus[b]), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples were together. 3 “I’m going out to fish,” Simon Peter told them, and they said, “We’ll go with you.” So they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.
4 Early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus.
5 He called out to them, “Friends, haven’t you any fish?”
“No,” they answered.
6 He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.
7 Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” As soon as Simon Peter heard him say, “It is the Lord,” he wrapped his outer garment around him (for he had taken it off) and jumped into the water. 8 The other disciples followed in the boat, towing the net full of fish, for they were not far from shore, about a hundred yards.[c] 9 When they landed, they saw a fire of burning coals there with fish on it, and some bread.
10 Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish you have just caught.” 11 So Simon Peter climbed back into the boat and dragged the net ashore. It was full of large fish, 153, but even with so many the net was not torn. 12 Jesus said to them, “Come and have breakfast.” None of the disciples dared ask him, “Who are you?” They knew it was the Lord. 13 Jesus came, took the bread and gave it to them, and did the same with the fish. 14 This was now the third time Jesus appeared to his disciples after he was raised from the dead.
Jesus Reinstates Peter 15 When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?”
“Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.”
Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.”
16 Again Jesus said, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”
He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.”
Jesus said, “Take care of my sheep.”
17 The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”
Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.”
Jesus said, “Feed my sheep. 18 Very truly I tell you, when you were younger you dressed yourself and went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.” 19 Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. Then he said to him, “Follow me!”
20 Peter turned and saw that the disciple whom Jesus loved was following them. (This was the one who had leaned back against Jesus at the supper and had said, “Lord, who is going to betray you?”) 21 When Peter saw him, he asked, “Lord, what about him?”
22 Jesus answered, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me.”
In this message, two High School Seniors, Ella and Caleb, share some of their story; they share where God has worked in the midst of the hard times. There is beauty in the darkness and we can know with confidence that God is at work at all times - the good and the hard.

Final sermon in the series "Living the Five" preached on February 24, 2019 by Pastor Mark Kleinheksel. Worship is so much more than the service on a Sunday morning, so much more than the 'worship music' that we sing together. God calls us to a living that is radically different than the world around us, a life of worship directed at God Himself.
Pastor Mark Kleinheksel continues his series called "Living the Five." Scripture passages are - Luke 10:1-2 and Romans 10:1-17.
Acts 9:1-31 Coming into contact with the Living God causes something inside human beings to change. Our desires for God begin to overtake our desires for the things of this world. This growth in Christ causes us to change and in turn desire for those around us to change.
Preached by Pastor Mark Kleinheksel on February 3, 2019.

Living the Five is a study on what it means to be the Church - the family of God - the Body of Christ. Pastor Mark, on January 20, preached on Romans 12 about what it looks like to live as a functional body. Each person is called to use their gifts for the good of the body and the world; what does this functionally look like? What gifts do you have?
Sermon by Pastor Mark Kleinheksel on 1 Corinthians 9:8 given on January 13, 2019. We have all been immensely blessed by God so that we can in turn be a blessing to others. We find so many excuses as to why we cannot be a blessing to others; God tells us a different narrative.
Sermon by Chad Benkert on January 6, 2019.
As we begin 2019, Chad urges us to break down our fences (or masks or facades) and allow others to really see and experience who we really are. The Church needs real community. Authenticity is the only way this truly happens.
Both John the Baptist and Jesus spent time in the wilderness, preparing for the future, before beginning their public ministry. This preparation allowed them to hold true to the truth when facing their personal deserts. Knowing God and loving God give us a way out of our deserts. In this new year, let us commit ourselves more fully to our all-powerful God.
Luke 4:1-15

John the Baptist, cousin of Jesus, was born to pave the way for Jesus. This is a big job, but John had the Holy Spirit with Him to guide Him. In this message, Mark Kleinheksel talks about our need to make ourselves smaller while making God bigger.
Luke 1:57-80
The events of the Christmas season did not come about my chance, but by the work of the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity. The birth of John and Jesus happened by the power of God. The Spirit was at work in the world back then and is at work in the world to this day. Pastor Mark challenges us to try to follow the Spirit in each of our lives.
The birth of our Savior has been spoken of years before He was born. This message looks from the prophets to the angel Gabriel revealing God's plan to Mary and Joseph, the parents of Jesus.

Sermon preached by Pastor Mark Kleinheksel in our sermon series, “The Marriage Conundrum.”
Marriage health is vital to the success of families and we at Hager Park Church are all about investing in families. We will learn together the “Core Four” for marriage health and vitality. But it takes more than a married couple on their own to insure that health. In addition, there are families where marriage has failed. There are families of one where marriage may never exist. There are single parent families where marriage may be hoped for someday or again. And there are singles who may choose never to be married or remarried. We all need to learn and grow in our understanding of what a Christ-centered strong marriage looks like so that, we can be a part of creating, sustaining and reconciling them. And when things go bad we all need to be a part of picking up the pieces and extending the love and grace of Jesus, so healing can come.
