The statistics are still standing. 1 in 3 children are living in severe poverty in Greater Manchester. This means there are children going to bed without a hot meal in a house without central heating. As Christmas approaches, 150,000 children in our city will not have a present to open on Christmas Day.
The support and generosity of the people of Manchester was overwhelming, and we are asking for your help again this year as we are even more determined to help local children and ensure as many of them as possible in Greater Manchester wake up to a present this Christmas. Ollie aged 5 was diagnosed with CNL2 Batten Disease. It’s hard to believe that its nearly been a year since we were sat in that small white hospital room being told that our little boy will lose his ability to walk, talk, see, and that he would become so ill that he will need to be tube fed. That one day his body will be too weak to do anything. Ollie was sat on his Daddy’s knee whilst we were told that Ollie would die, It only feels like yesterday. How can this world be so cruel?

Here's what happened in the “Mission Christmas Break-In”.

This is the hugely emotional story of Beth, Mackenzie and little Finlay from Manchester. Their Grandmother Jackie from Mosley tells Mike and Chelsea from Key 103 about the heart-breaking moment that their mother passed away (just 2 years after their father also did) and how the whole family are coming together for the sake of the children.

This week we experienced an unexpected twist! In a contest on Tuesday morning, Carole from Radcliffe gave such a convincing pitch to fellow contestant Mike from Blakeley, that he stayed true to his word and wanted to SHARE the money. Carole however revealed her darker side and announced that she was instead was going to share. But when Mike explained that the money was to help his 4 grandkids get presents this year at Christmas, Carole quickly changed her mind and opted to share. Fascinating to hear how listeners react when they feel guilty!
