One of my favorite movies is Back to the Future from filmmakers Steven Spielberg and Robert Zemeckis.
When teenager Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) is blasted to 1955 in the DeLorean time machine created by the eccentric Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd), he finds himself mixed up in a time-altering chain reaction that could vaporize his future.1 At the end of the movie, “Doc reappears in the DeLorean, telling Marty to come with him to the future, that something has got to be done about their kids. He hurries Marty and Jennifer into the car. As Doc pulls out of the driveway, Marty points out that there is not enough road to accelerate to 88 mph, with Doc replying, "Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads," and flies off in the now fusion-powered and hover-converted DeLorean, leading to the events of Back to the Future Part II.”2 This leads me to invite you to Back to the Beginning. The Lord is calling you to heavenly secrets through the prophetic lens of Esther. Join us for part 3 in the Scroll of the Secret series. The book of Revelation is the revelation of Jesus.

That is the primary theme of the entire book. As you study Revelation through the lens of Esther, you will see Divine Providence at work.
In the scroll of Esther, we learn the meaning of King Achashverosh’s name.
"1 Now it came to pass in the days of Ahasuerus -- he was the Ahasuerus who reigned from Hodu to Cush, one hundred twenty-seven provinces“ (Esther 1:1 chabad.org)
Achashverosh was the ruler of the Persian empire which was the world power at the time. The “acharis” in his name means “the end.” The “rosh” in his name alludes to “the beginning.” Thus, his name alludes to the “Disclosure of the Divine.” This teaches us that God’s divine plan is in control. The secret of Achashverosh’s name reveals to us the theme of the Scroll of Esther. We see the disclosure of the Divine. Achashverosh and the wicked Haman plotted to destroy the Jews. God turned it around and wrought a great deliverance for the Jews saving them from destruction. God will even reverse the plots of the wicked in your life as well. This concept is known as Divine Reversal. We see divine reversal in Esther and Revelation. In fact, Jesus came to perform the ultimate Divine Reversal.”
“8 He who commits sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.” (1 John 3:8 RSV)”
The concept of divine reversal also applies to the end of days in the book of Revelation.
Just as God brought forth a tremendous divine reversal in the scroll of Esther, He is also doing the same in the book of Revelation.

Noah and his family entered into an ark.
“1 Then the LORD said to Noah, “Go into the ark, you and all your household, for I have seen that you are righteous before me in this generation.” (Genesis 7:1 RSV) The Lord is calling you to experience Light in your ark.
This was God’s plan from the onset of the Creation.
“3 And God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.” (Genesis 1:3 RSV) Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to experience Let there be Light in your Ark.

You are called to Live in the Light. This teaching is part 12 in the “Let there be Light” series. Come experience the book of Genesis through the lens of the Light. The light came from Jacob because he lived his life in the light. The light came from within because of his unwavering commitment to God and Torah. In this week’s Torah portion, Parashah Vayigash, Judah approached Joseph.

We encounter the spiritual conflict that ensued between Joseph and Judah. On the surface, it appears as though there is a clashing conflict between them. In this teaching, you will learn that each brother’s approach complimented the other.
Each brother had a different approach to disseminating the Light of holiness in the world.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to Approach the Light.
“9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own people, that you may declare the wonderful deeds of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” (1 Peter 2:9 RSV)

When you are going through fiery trials, you may ask if there is Light at the End of the Tunnel. I want to know there is Light at the End of the Tunnel for your destiny. Jacob lighted upon a certain place.
“11 And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put [them for] his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep.” (Genesis 28:11 KJV)
You are called to light upon a certain place. This teaching is part 7 in the “Let there be Light” series. Come experience the book of Genesis through the lens of the Light. The Lord is calling you to connect with Him in a deep and meaningful way through the Light.
In this Torah portion, Jacob escaped his wicked brother Esau. Jacob left his hometown of Beersheba and journeyed to Haran. On his way, he lighted upon a certain place. He slept at that place and dreamed of a ladder connecting heaven and earth with angels ascending and descending the ladder. Jacob’s heavenly encounter will be the focus of this week’s teaching.
After this heavenly encounter, Jacob went to stay and work for his wicked uncle Laban.
He tended Laban’s sheep, labored 7 years for Laban in order to marry Rachel. On the wedding night, Laban gave him Leah instead. After realizing he was tricked, Laban agreed to give him Rachel in return for another 7 years of labor. After 14 years of labor, Laban convinced Jacob to stay. Jacob prospers despite Laban’s attempts to cheat him.
“7 yet your father has cheated me and changed my wages ten times, but God did not permit him to harm me.” (Genesis 31:7 RSV)
In addition to serving 14 years for Laban’s two daughters, Jacob served an additional 6 years for Laban’s flock.
“41 These twenty years I have been in your house; I served you fourteen years for your two daughters, and six years for your flock, and you have changed my wages ten times.” (Genesis 31:41 RSV)
Jacob built his family in Haran. When he left Haran, he encountered angels.
“1 Jacob went on his way and the angels of God met him; 2 and when Jacob saw them he said, “This is God’s army!” So he called the name of that place Mahana’im.” (Genesis 32:1-2 RSV)
What was the mission of these angels? Come find on Thursday night.

God appeared to Abraham.
“1 And the LORD appeared to him by the oaks of Mamre, as he sat at the door of his tent in the heat of the day.” (Genesis 18:1 RSV)
In this Torah portion, God appeared to Abraham and elevated him in the anointing. In last week’s Torah portion, Abraham’s experience with God was limited to the constraints of his own human nature. In this week’s Torah portion, you will see how God took Abraham into the realm of the impossible. This experience with God allowed Abraham to receive direct revelation from God. You also are recipients of being immersed in the light.

God told Abram to number the stars.
“5 And he brought him outside and said, “Look toward heaven, and number the stars, if you are able to number them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your descendants be.” 6 And he believed the LORD; and he reckoned it to him as righteousness.” (Genesis 15:5-6 RSV)
The Jewish people, the descendants of Abram, are compared to the stars. Likewise, we are all like shining stars. We are to rise above the depravity of the world. We can exert a positive influence upon the world through God’s Word.

Never Settle for Less is the theme for this week’s teaching. Lot settled for less when he abandoned his uncle Abraham. Orpah settled for less when she turned her back on her mother-in-law Naomi. Abraham and Ruth never settled for less. Their reward for never settling for less was Malchut. Malchut is the Hebrew word for kingship. God has a kingly inheritance for you.

This week we will explore the concept of connection. The giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai and the story of Ruth are about connection with God and with each other. Jesus taught His disciples about connection when He told them to follow Him. Jesus said, “Follow me.”
“19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” (Matthew 4:19 KJV)
We live in a follow me culture. Social media is all about connection. We are all looking for connections, especially meaningful connections. Why do people visit anchestry.com? It’s because people are longing for connection and continuity. It connects people to where their story started.
A meaningful connection is made when you recognize God’s beauty in you and in others.
“I will praise thee; for I am fearfully [and] wonderfully made: marvellous [are] thy works; and [that] my soul knoweth right well.” (Psalm 139:14 KJV)
It is my prayer that you will discover meaningful connections through this series on Ruth.
You will recognize the image of God in yourself and in others. You have godliness in you. You have purpose in you. It’s part of your spiritual DNA.

This week we will explore the concept of the Path to Greatness through the example of Ruth and her ancestry. It is through connection that she discovered her path to greatness. God has prepared a personal and prophetic path to greatness for you. Your greatness is found through discovering God’s image for your life.
“So God created man in his [own] image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.”(Genesis 1:27 KJV)
Ruth discovered her path to greatness when she surrendered her life to God.
“And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, [or] to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people [shall be] my people, and thy God my God:” (Ruth 1:16 KJV)
The Path to Greatness is a path of responsibility. Winston Churchill said, “The price of greatness is responsibility.”
Ruth’s price of greatness was in her decision to take responsibility for her mother-in-law Naomi. Her path to greatness was chesed (selfless loving kindness).
Jesus teaches us about the path to greatness.
“And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God.” (Luke 9:59-60 KJV)
The path to greatness is a path of total commitment. Jesus wasn’t teaching His disciples to hate their parents or not to bury the dead. A proper burial is mitzvah. Jesus was teaching His disciples that following Him means that learning from Him would take precedence over every other endeavor. That’s exactly what Ruth did and in doing so, she restored the honor of her deceased husband and her father-in-law. The blessings for serving God exponentially outweigh the price.

We will begin a new series in the Scroll of Ruth (Meggilas Ruth) this week. The author of Ruth, the prophet Samuel, teaches us about dwelling Under the Wings of the Divine Presence. Under the Wings of the Divine Presence is metaphor for abiding in God’s glory. When the Israelites left Egypt and crossed the Red Sea, they were welcomed by the Clouds of God’s Glory. They came to abide Under the Wings of the Divine Presence for 40 years in the desert. You too are coming to that spiritual place of abiding in His glory. Through the example of Ruth, you will receive the revelation to abide in God’s Presence.

We are living times of unprecedented changes of Messianic proportions. This is how Jacob lived the last 17 years of his life. The Torah reading for the week of December 27, 2020 is Parashah Vayechi consisting of Genesis 47:28 to 50:26. Parashah means portion and Vayechi means, “he lived.” The parashah title is taken from Genesis 47:28 that says:
“28 And Jacob lived in the land of Egypt seventeen years: so the whole age of Jacob was an hundred forty and seven years.” (Genesis 47:28 KJV)
Jacob lived his last 17 years in times of unprecedented changes of Messianic proportions. You are also living in times of unprecedented changes of Messianic proportions.
One of the nuances of Parashah Vayechi is that it is completely closed. That means there is no gap between the end of the previous parashah, Parashah Vayigash and this week’s parashah, Parashah Vayechi.
This subtlety is rare in the Torah. One of the secrets of this Torah portion is unveiled through this nuance. Typically, a Torah scroll starts each parashah with a new paragraph. That is not the case here. There is only a narrow gap, less than one letter wide between Parashah Vayigash and Parashah Vayechi.
Why is this? The answer is will shock you because it will reveal the days we are currently living in, days of Unprecedented Changes of Messianic Proportions

You may be familiar with the novel, Pride and Prejudice. It is an 1813 novel of manners written by Jane Austen. The novel follows the character development of Elizabeth Bennet who learns about the repercussions of hasty judgments and comes to appreciate the difference between superficial goodness and actual goodness. Its humor lies in its depiction of manners, education, marriage, and money during the Regency era in Great Britain.
Now allow me to introduce you to the character development of Joseph, the viceroy of Egypt and his brother, Judah. The dialog between Joseph and Judah is one that is filled with hasty judgments, pride, and prejudice. The character development that takes place in Joseph and Judah sets the precedent for the future generations of Israel and helps us to understand the contentions that will take place between the Southern and Northern kingdoms of Israel. You really cannot understand the Torah and the books of prophecy (Nevi’im) in the Bible without the backdrop from Parashah Vayigash.
The Torah reading for the week of December 20, 2020 is Parashah Vayigash consisting of Genesis 44:18 to 47:27. Parashah means portion and Vayigash means, “He Approached.” The parashah title is taken from Genesis 44:18 that says:
“18Then Judah approached him and said, “Please, my lord, let now your servant speak something into my lord’s ears, and let not your wrath be kindled against your servant, for you are like Pharaoh.” (Genesis 44:18 Chabad.org)
The dialogue that took place between Judah and Joseph is one of the most intense communications in the Bible. Judah stood up to the second most powerful ruler in the world, Joseph. Just as one iron blade sharpens another iron blade, Judah and Joseph were like iron to each other.
“17 Iron sharpens iron, and a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.” (Proverbs 27:17 Chabad.org)
Judah and Joseph were sharpened by this interaction. Their prophetic gifts and character development were taken to the highest level. This teaching will also illuminate the gift of prophecy in your soul.

Are you living the dream? Living the dream is an idiomatic phrase meaning, to experience the achievement of every success that one has aspired to achieve.
“1 And it came to pass at the end of two full years, that Pharaoh dreamed: and, behold, he stood by the river.” (Genesis 41:1 KJV)
The Torah reading for the week of December 13, 2020 is Parashah Mikeitz consisting of Genesis 41:1 to 44:17. Parashah means portion and Mikeitz means, “The End.” The parashah title is taken from Genesis 41:1 that says, “And it came to pass at the end of two full years…” In this parashah you will see Joseph Living the Dream. Living the Dream will bring you to an expected end as the prophet Jeremiah says:
“11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” (Jeremiah 29:11 KJV)
God doesn’t expect you to live life aimlessly. Prophetic dreams will bring you to an expected end. In addition, every affliction and trial Joseph went through had a set end. The stage was being set for the rise of Joseph to the position of viceroy over Egypt. Joseph was truly living the dream. You are going to see the fulfillment of prophecy in Joseph’s life. The end also prophetically represents the Lord setting the stage for your platform too. My prayer today is that you will discover the dream that the Lord has placed in you through the Word of God. You too are Living the Dream.

The Torah reading for the week of December 6, 2020 is Parashah Vayeishev consisting of Genesis 37:1 - 40:23. Parashah means portion. Vayeishev means, “He Dwelt.” The parashah title is taken from Genesis 37:1 that says, “And Jacob dwelt…” In this parashah you will learn how to be mentored for the anointing and how to follow prophetic dreams. The anointing will empower you to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit in every aspect of your life.
“27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.” (1 John 2:27 KJV)

The Torah reading for the week of November 29, 2020 is Parashah Vayishlach consisting of Genesis 32:3 to 36:43. Vayishlach means, “And He Sent.” The messengers that Jacob sent were angels.
This entire Parashah is about angelic activity. Your destiny is connected to Vayishlach. This Torah portion will teach you how to appropriate the ministry of angels.
“7 And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.” (Hebrews 1:7 KJV)
Jacob needed angelic assistance prior to his encounter with his archenemy, Esau. Likewise, God will also send angels to assist you in your darkest hour. Even Jesus was sent an angel to strengthen Him in His darkest hour.
“41 And he was withdrawn from them about a stone’s cast, and kneeled down, and prayed, 42 Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. 43 And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him. 44 And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.” (Luke 22:41-44 KJV)
God will ensure you the victory over your Esau through the assistance of angels. You will learn the secrets to ensuring your victory in this prophetic importation.

Your destiny is connected to “And He Went Out.” God is calling you to go out and proclaim the gospel.
“8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” (Acts 1:8 KJV)
The secret to possessing the power of the Holy Spirit in your life is to go out. Jacob came into a new anointing when he went out. He would never have entered into the fullness of his calling if he did not go out. Jacob’s journey was accompanied by hardship, supernatural transformation of the sun and the land, angelic encounters, prophetic dreams, and the building of the Jewish nation.

I grew up as a fan of the Star Trek series known as Star Trek — The Next Generation. The opening script of Star Trek — The Next Generation is, “Space, the final frontier. These are the voyages of the Starship Enterprise. Its continuing mission to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no one has gone before…”
I would like to rewrite the opening script of Star Trek — The Next Generation to align with this week’s Torah portion at Destined4Torah. It reads like this, “Generations, the Final Frontier. These are the voyages of Destined4Torah. In a nutshell, the events of this Torah portion show us that Sarah dies at the age of 127, Abraham buys Sarah’s burial plot for an exorbitant price, Eliezer finds a wife for Abraham’s son, Isaac, Abraham’s marries Keturah and they have children, and concludes with the death and burial of Abraham.

Moses, the author of the Torah doesn’t place emphasis on Sarah’s death but rather on her life. The focus is on the World to Come. The way you live your life will have lasting effects.

Are you ready for God to appear to you? We will continue in the annual cycle of reading the Torah. The Torah reading for the week of November 1 is Parashah Vayeira consisting of Genesis 18:1-22:24. Vayeira means “And He Appeared."
“1 Now the Lord appeared to him in the plains of Mamre, and he was sitting at the entrance of the tent when the day was hot.” (Genesis 18:1 Chabad.org)
The first verse of Vayeira describes a heavenly visitation that Abraham received. God revealed Himself to him by the Oaks of Mamre as he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day during one of the physically most painful days of his life.
The name of each parashah is the theme of the entire parashah. One of the themes of this parashah is the revelation of God's Presence in your life. There is nothing more glorious than His Presence. This is how God describes Abraham, "For I know him." How would you like God to describe you in this manner? You also can experience the Lord in this glorious manner. He will also appear to you.

We will continue in the annual cycle of reading the Torah. The Torah reading for this week is Parashah Lech Lecha consisting of Genesis 12:1–17:27. Lech Lecha means “Go to yourself.”
“1 And the Lord said to Abram, “Go forth from your land and from your birthplace and from your father’s house, to the land that I will show you.” (Genesis 12:1 Chabad.org)
The name of each parashah is the theme of the entire parashah. The theme of this parashah is to “Go to Yourself.” God called Abraham away from his finite self to a self that only God could reveal to him, the self that is one with Him. The journey to your true self is a journey of ascent in your relationship with God. In fact, Abraham experienced 10 tremendous ascents in his relationship with God.
These 10 ascents were experienced through 10 tests. One of these ascents is revealed in Genesis 12:1 that reveals 3 levels of departure from Abraham’s finite self to a self that only God could reveal to him.
- “From your land” is related to your will (ratzon in Hebrew). God is leading you away from your own will.
- “From your birthplace” is a journey away from your emotional and behavioral self.
- “From your father’s house” is a journey away from your intellect.
Not only is Lech Lecha the theme of this parashah, it is also the theme of Abraham’s life. Abraham’s 10 tests begins with Lech Lecha and ends with another Lech Lecha that is hidden in the story of the Akeida (the binding of Isaac). What is your life’s theme? It is my prayer the Lord will reveal it to you in this prophetic impartation.

Parashah Noach tells us the account of the destruction and recreation of the world through Noah's Flood. One of the themes of this Torah Parashah "Portion" is to bring you into God's glory.
"14 Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch." (Genesis 6:14 KJV)
The Hebrew word for ark is Teivah. Teivah also means word. The waters of the Flood also represent the wisdom of God's Word. The secret to your success is to abide in the ark.

The Biblical New Year begins with Rosh Hashanah on the first day of the seventh month, the month of Tishrei.
“Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first [day] of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation.” (Leviticus 23:24 KJV)
Our destinies are sealed on Yom Kippur, the tenth day of the seventh month. This day is known as the Day of Atonement.
“Also on the tenth [day] of this seventh month [there shall be] a day of atonement: it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD.” (Leviticus 23:27 KJV)
The next feast in the seventh month is Sukkot.
“34 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, The fifteenth day of this seventh month [shall be] the feast of tabernacles [for] seven days unto the LORD. (Leviticus 23:34 KJV)
Sukkot is the time of the year that is characterized by unspeakable joy.
“8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see [him] not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:” (1 Peter 1:8 KJV)
Sukkot is the culmination of the High Holidays in the Hebrew month of Tishrei. Sukkot is filled with the joy of the Lord.

How does one bring meaning to his or her life? This question has been tackled by numerous philosophers, psychologists, religious leaders, and writers throughout history.
During each of the Biblical feasts, we read a Megillat (Scroll). For example, on Passover, we read Megillat Shir HaShirim (Song Of Songs). On Shavuot, we read Meggilat Rut (Ruth). On Tisha B’Av, we read Meggilat Eikah (Lamentations). On Sukkot, we read Meggilat Kohelet (Ecclesiastes). On Purim, we read Megillat Esther.
We are currently preparing for Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles). Therefore, we will read Meggilat Kohelet (Ecclesiastes). It is difficult to see Sukkot and Ecclesiastes used in the same sentence because Sukkot is very optimistic and Ecclesiastes appears to be very pessimistic. Sukkot is the culmination of the High Holidays in the Hebrew month of Tishrei. Sukkot is filled with optimism and tremendous joy. Ecclesiastes, in contrast seems very pessimistic especially because of these words,
“2 Vanity of vanities, says the Preacher, vanity of vanities! All is vanity.” (Ecclesiastes 1:2 RSV)
How can vanity be connected with optimism and unspeakable joy? The connection between Sukkot and Kohelet will teach you how to bring meaning to your life.

The Book of Revelation gives us Heaven's Perspective of the End of Days. To understand Revelation, you must be in the Spirit.
"10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet" (Revelation 1:10 RSV)
The Apostle John was caught up into Heaven and saw the End of Days from Heaven's Perspective.
"1 After this I looked, and lo, in heaven an open door! And the first voice, which I had heard speaking to me like a trumpet, said, "Come up hither, and I will show you what must take place after this." 2 At once I was in the Spirit, and lo, a throne stood in heaven, with one seated on the throne!" (Revelation 4:1-2 RSV)
The prophet Ezekiel shows us God's glory from earth's perspective. The apostle John shows us God's glory from Heaven's perspective. We will contrast both aspects of God's Glory as we conclude our series in the End of Days. We are literally coming to the End of Days.
"5 And night shall be no more; they need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be their light, and they shall reign for ever and ever." (Revelation 22:5 RSV)

One of the signs of the End of Days is the Insurrection of Gog and Magog against Israel. What is the the Battle of Gog and Magog?
"18 But on that day, when Gog shall come against the land of Israel, says the Lord GOD, my wrath will be roused." (Ezekiel 38:18 RSV)
"2 For I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle, and the city shall be taken and the houses plundered and the women ravished; half of the city shall go into exile, but the rest of the people shall not be cut off from the city." (Zechariah 14:2 RSV)
"21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, and never will be. 22 And if those days had not been shortened, no human being would be saved; but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened." (Matthew 24:21-22 RSV)
“8 and will come out to deceive the nations which are at the four corners of the earth, that is, Gog and Magog, to gather them for battle; their number is like the sand of the sea. 9 And they marched up over the broad earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city; but fire came down from heaven and consumed them,” (Revelation 20:8-9 RSV)
The Insurrection of Gog and Magog against Israel is one of the most misunderstood themes of the End of Days. We will examine this topic on Monday night.

One of the signs of the End of Days is the mystery of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Both Zechariah and Revelation describe this mystery.
"8 "I saw in the night, and behold, a man riding upon a red horse! He was standing among the myrtle trees in the glen; and behind him were red, sorrel, and white horses." (Zechariah 1:8 RSV)
"2 And I saw, and behold, a white horse, and its rider had a bow; and a crown was given to him, and he went out conquering and to conquer. ... 4 And out came another horse, bright red; its rider was permitted to take peace from the earth, so that men should slay one another; and he was given a great sword. 5 When he opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, "Come!" And I saw, and behold, a black horse, and its rider had a balance in his hand; ... 8 And I saw, and behold, a pale horse, and its rider's name was Death, and Hades followed him; and they were given power over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword and with famine and with pestilence and by wild beasts of the earth." (Revelation 6:2, 4-5, 8 RSV)
These horsemen are angels that are sent out to carry out tasks set by the Almighty. God is sending out angels on your behalf too.

Are you ready for the Revelation of the Redemptions? The redemption from the Jewish exile in Egypt was revealed to Abraham.

The redemption from the exile in Babylonia was revealed to Jeremiah. The redemption from the Persian and Median exiles was revealed to Daniel. The Jewish people are currently in their final exile, the Roman exile. To whom has the secret of the redemption in this final exile been revealed? I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

The dictionary defines Legacy as a gift or a bequest that is endowed or conveyed from one person to another by a will. A legacy is more than just the bequeathing of something of monetary value. Let’s go beyond the dictionary meaning.
Legacy is something of you that makes your life worthwhile. Legacy is something that you leave for your future generations. We have received a tremendous legacy through every experience in King David’s life. That legacy includes making God his Father when he was rejected by his family, writing the Psalms, fighting God’s battles and gathering the spoils for God’s house, taking repentance to the highest level, forgiving his enemies, creating the blueprint for the Temple in Jerusalem, and having a shepherd’s heart for his nation. All of these things have been bequeathed to us. There is no price that you can put on this legacy. This is David’s Legacy.

Much of the world has been in lockdown since late March. How many people have actually been working on their character makeover? Seeing the unrest and turmoil in the world, I would guess very few have been working on their character makeover.
The early church, initially consisting of 120 members experienced a character makeover when they assembled in the Upper Room for 10 days from Jesus' Ascension to the day of Pentecost. The 120 were assembled in prayer during their lockdown. This lockdown in prayer produced a character makeover.
"13 and when they had entered, they went up to the upper room, where they were staying, Peter and John and James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot and Judas the son of James. 14 All these with one accord devoted themselves to prayer, together with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers." (Acts 1:13-14 RSV)
The Church was born on the feast of Pentecost. This character makeover made room for the Holy Spirit to fill everyone that assembled in the Upper Room.
"1 When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. 2 And suddenly a sound came from heaven like the rush of a mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3 And there appeared to them tongues as of fire, distributed and resting on each one of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance." (Acts 2:1-4 RSV)
This day wasn't the first Pentecost. The first Pentecost occurred roughly 1,800 years prior to this day. This was the day in which God spoke the 10 Commandments to the Israelites. This was the day that Israel became a nation.
"16 On the morning of the third day there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mountain, and a very loud trumpet blast, so that all the people who were in the camp trembled. 17 Then Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet God; and they took their stand at the foot of the mountain. 18 And Mount Sinai was wrapped in smoke, because the LORD descended upon it in fire; and the smoke of it went up like the smoke of a kiln, and the whole mountain quaked greatly." (Exodus 19:16-18 RSV)
The birth of the Church is the anniversary of Israel becoming a nation. Pentecost is the Greek word for fiftieth. In Hebrew, the feast is called Shavuot meaning Weeks. Both the Church and Israel experienced a mighty character makeover to receive the power of God.
We will scrutinize King David's life this week. Why David? It's because David was born and died during the feast of Shavuot. His very life demonstrates that people can change for the better through a character makeover. Can a person change? Can a person that is set in his or her ways improve? We will answer this question through an examination of David's life. David is one of my favorite people in the Bible and you can experience a character makeover as your scrutinize your personality through the lens of David.

God has instilled a certain longing in our hearts that cause us to seek for things that are beyond the world. The world will never satisfy this longing.
It is in the transformation process that you will discover the perfect will of God in your life. The Apostles came into the fullness of their destinies on the 50th day of the transformation process. Naomi and Ruth came into the fulness of their destinies on the 50th day. The Israelites received their destinies on the 50th day of the transformation process. The 50th day is known as Shavuot or Pentecost. Both Naomi and Ruth discovered that there was much more to life than the futility of the world. Your destiny is also beyond the world. The World Is Not Enough.

"The world stands upon three things - upon Torah, upon divine service, and upon acts of kindness. (Avot 1:2)"
According to the above statement from the Sayings of the Fathers, the world stands upon 3 pillars, The Torah, divine service, and acts of loving kindness. The Torah is the Word of God. The Word of God will enable you to achieve your purpose in this world. You are part of God's master plan in the world. Divine services encompasses your devotion to God through prayer, sacrifice, and obeying His commandments. Acts of kindness include you acts of generosity and kindness that go beyond what is expected. That is what Jesus meant when He said,
"41 and if any one forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles." [Matthew 5:41 RSV]
These 3 pillars will enable you to achieve your full potential and fulfill the totality of your purpose in this world like Ruth and Boaz. This will ensure that your Tomorrow Never Dies. "6 Now she arose with her daughters-in-law and returned from the fields of Moab, for she had heard in the field of Moab that the Lord had remembered His people to give them bread." [Ruth 1:6]
In order to live you may need to let some things die. Naomi had hit this crossroads in life. It was at this crucial junction in the Destined4Torah Zone that she had to make an important decision that would pave the path for the coming of the Messiah. She had no idea that the decision she made was paving the path for the future redeemer of Israel. She heard that the Lord had visited His people to give them bread. Moab represents the world. God is calling you out of the world and calling you to return to the Bread.
"4 But he answered, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.'"" [Matthew 4:4 RSV]
It is at these crucial junctions that you need to make important decisions that might have far reaching consequences and a long-lasting effect in your life and in the lives of others. The decisions that Naomi made has affected countless generations. Do you also want to make a positive effect on future generations? The way to Live and Let Die is in finding the bread.
Jesus is the Bread of Life and He is offering Himself to you.
"35 Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life; he who comes to me shall not hunger, and he who believes in me shall never thirst." [John 6:35 RSV]
Like Naomi, when you make a decision to follow the Bread of Life, you will receive the grace to be sustained through this pandemic that is afflicting the earth. NEWS FLASH - Royal Heartbreak!
Following the news of the famine in the land, Elimelech and his immediate family leave Bethlehem to self-isolate in Moab.
In the Book of Ruth, we are introduced to a family of royal pedigree. Elimelech, his wife Naomi and their two sons were of royal pedigree. Elimelech was destined for the throne. Elimelech had the potential to become king. He made a serious error in judgment when he left his people behind and relocated to Moab with his immediate family.
These days of the COVID-19 pandemic are a type of famine in our land. The way we respond to the pandemic can either make us or break us.

The Book of Ruth is a story of loyalty and the rewards for showing kindness, but is that all it is? The story of Ruth is much deeper than what we read on the surface.
In Hebrew, the surface or simple meaning of the text is called pshat. We are going into the deeper meaning of the text by peeling away layers until we find what God is saying to us during this time of pandemic.

Now allow me to introduce you to the sign-post of the Torah Zone using a quote from the Rambam. The Rambam is not to be confused with Bamm-Bamm from the Flintstones. The Rambam was among the greatest Jewish scholars of all time. My modified quote from the Rambam reads like this,

This darkness that the world is experiencing with the COVID-19 pandemic is replay in the Torah Zone. This Thursday night, I will introduce you to the darkness that the patriarch, Isaac experienced in the Torah Zone and how it relates to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"1 When Isaac was old and his eyes were dim so that he could not see, he called Esau his older son, and said to him, "My son"; and he answered, "Here I am."" [Genesis 27:1 RSV]

God is about to open your eyes even in the midst of the most dismal circumstances.
"19 Then God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went, and filled the skin with water, and gave the lad a drink." [Genesis 21:19 RSV]
God opened the eyes of Hagar when her son, Ishmael was near to death. God showed her a well of water in the desert. Everything you read in Scripture is prophetic and is relevant to your life today. Even in the midst of this Coronavirus pandemic, God is about to open your eyes. When your eyes open, you are going to be amazed with God's Divine Providence and Mercy.

Greatness is knocking on the door of your heart. This is not a time to panic. This pandemic will pass. Let's use this as an opportunity to open the door to the greatness that is in each and every one of you by demonstrating acts of selfless loving kindness. Cain asked the infamous question, "Am I my brother's keeper?"
"9 Then the LORD said to Cain, "Where is Abel your brother?" He said, "I do not know; am I my brother's keeper?"" [Genesis 4:9 RSV]
The answer to Cain's question is a resounding YES.
Let's respond the way Mother Teresa lived her life. She said, "Do not worry about why problems exist in the world - just respond to people's needs."

It’s time to change. In order to advance, we must embrace change.
In the United States, we have springed forward one hour to daylight savings time (DST). I wish we could have daylight savings time year round. It’s not always easy to embrace change. We also see daylight savings time in the Torah when God caused the sun to supernaturally set for Jacob hours ahead of sunset to Torah Savings Time (TST).
"11 And he came to a certain place, and stayed there that night, because the sun had set. Taking one of the stones of the place, he put it under his head and lay down in that place to sleep." [Genesis 28:11 RSV]
Jacob stayed in the place because God caused the sun to supernaturally set ahead of schedule. When he slept in that place, he received a prophetic dream of a ladder connecting heaven to earth with angels ascending and descending upon it.
God is also going to cause change in your life through the increase of angelic activity. Embracing Torah will cause the supernatural to increase in your life. Imagine God’s majestic hand guiding everything in your life. He is going to change times and seasons for His glory.

I remember Earth, Wind, & Fire’s classic, September as I prepare this blog. The words “Do you remember?” resonate throughout the song. The words, “Do you remember?” also resonate throughout Scripture.
"14 And the LORD said to Moses, "Write this as a memorial in a book and recite it in the ears of Joshua, that I will utterly blot out the remembrance of Am'alek from under heaven."" [Exodus 17:14 RSV]
"17 "Remember what Am'alek did to you on the way as you came out of Egypt, ... 19 Therefore when the LORD your God has given you rest from all your enemies round about, in the land which the LORD your God gives you for an inheritance to possess, you shall blot out the remembrance of Am'alek from under heaven; you shall not forget." [Deuteronomy 25:17, 19 RSV]
The words, “Do you remember?” are a reminder of replay. It’s a prophetic replay. These words replay in every generation. Every time Amalek appears, replay is taking place. Every time the Jewish people are about to move into destiny by returning to the land of Israel, Amalek attacks. For example, when the Jews leave Egypt and are about to come into the Promised Land of Israel, Amalek attacks. When the Jews are about to return from Persia to Israel, Amalek attacks again in the form of Haman. We see a third replay in 1917 when the British government announces support for the establishment of a national home for the Jewish people in the Balfour Declaration. This time, Amalek attacks in the form of Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party.
Last year, Los Angeles declared September 21, Earth, Wind & Fire Day. There is something very special about the 21st day. The 21st day of Tishrei on the Hebrew calendar is the day in which God executes judgment upon the nations of the world. Esther the Queen prophesies the hangings of 10 future sons of Haman in the Nuremberg trials. The hangings of 10 Nazi leaders for crimes against humanity occurs on October 16, 1946. Guess what day that is on the Hebrew calendar? It is the 21st of Tishrei! Ba de ya, say that you remember!
The words, “Do you remember?” should also resonate with your destiny. During this season of Purim, you are coming into all the promises of God. God is remembering and executing all His plans for good in your life. Everything you need to finding favor with God is already inside of you. Like Esther, you don’t require anything more than what God has already given you.
"15 When the turn came for Esther the daughter of Ab'ihail the uncle of Mor'decai, who had adopted her as his own daughter, to go in to the king, she asked for nothing except what Hegai the king's eunuch, who had charge of the women, advised. Now Esther found favor in the eyes of all who saw her." [Esther 2:15 RSV]
When you go into the Presence of the King, you will find favor. Esther found grace and favor in the sight of the king.
"16 And when Esther was taken to King Ahasu-e'rus into his royal palace in the tenth month, which is the month of Tebeth, in the seventh year of his reign, 17 the king loved Esther more than all the women, and she found grace and favor in his sight more than all the virgins, so that he set the royal crown on her head and made her queen instead of Vashti." [Esther 2:16-17 RSV]
Your turn is also coming. The phrase, “if I have found favor” echoes throughout the Bible and this is the cry of our hearts as well. You may have asked, "where else have I heard this before?” I’m glad you asked. It is found three times in the Torah.
"3 and said, "My lord, if I have found favor in your sight, do not pass by your servant." [Genesis 18:3 RSV]
"10 Jacob said, "No, I pray you, if I have found favor in your sight, then accept my present from my hand; for truly to see your face is like seeing the face of God, with such favor have you received me." [Genesis 33:10 RSV]
"13 Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found favor in thy sight, show me now thy ways, that I may know thee and find favor in thy sight. Consider too that this nation is thy people."" [Exodus 33:13 RSV]

Genetic splicing is a term that refers to one organism's DNA that is cut apart and slipped into the gap of another organism's DNA. The result is recombinant DNA that includes features of the host organism modified by the trait in the foreign DNA. Gene splicing offers many advantages for society. For example, scientists have added new genes to organisms to make crop plants disease resistant and even more nutritious.
We also see gene splicing in the Scroll of Esther like no other book in the Bible. The Scroll of Esther cannot be read as a standalone book. Everyone and everything in the book has splices of spiritual genetic material from other parts of the Bible. Esther is my favorite book in the Bible because it connects Biblical concepts, people, and themes through spiritual genetic splicing.
*"10 Esther had not made known her people or kindred, for Mor'decai had charged her not to make it known." [Esther 2:10 RSV]
It was not yet known what would become of Esther.*

Time can have rippling effects on your destiny. The first commandment that God gave the Jewish people in Egypt was the commandment to institute a new calendar. This commandment was a gift to the Jewish people.
"1 The LORD said to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, 2 "This month shall be for you the beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year for you." [Exodus 12:1-2 RSV]
For 210 years, the Israelites lived in a sphere of time that was not their own. After Joseph and his brothers died, their lives were filled with backbreaking bondage under Egyptian slavery.
"10 Come, let us deal shrewdly with them, lest they multiply, and, if war befall us, they join our enemies and fight against us and escape from the land."" [Exodus 1:10 RSV]
During this sphere of time with bondage in Egypt, the time of the Israelites did not belong to them. The days meshed into one another. The days were monotonous and painful. In the life of a slave, there is no hope, no creativity, and there is no future of an expected end. God gifted the Jewish people with the gift of time to bring about rippling effects of time. Now they were given a purpose as God's chosen people.
Queen Esther was also a slave in a sense. She was captured and chosen to become the wife of King Ahasuerus against her will. Like her ancestors in Egypt, Esther also had to experience the rippling effects of time on her destiny. Queen Esther experienced a time shift when she came into her destiny defining epiphany to restore the legacy and the anointing that her ancestor, King Saul lost.
"14 For if you keep silence at such a time as this, relief and deliverance will rise for the Jews from another quarter, but you and your father's house will perish. And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?"" [Esther 4:14 RSV]

Have you ever questioned the existence of God?
[Exodus 17:1-2 RSV] "1 All the congregation of the people of Israel moved on from the wilderness of Sin by stages, according to the commandment of the LORD, and camped at Reph'idim; but there was no water for the people to drink. 2 Therefore the people found fault with Moses, and said, "Give us water to drink." And Moses said to them, "Why do you find fault with me? Why do you put the LORD to the proof?”"
The congregation of Israel asked this question when there was no water for the people to drink. They questioned the proof of God even after experiencing the 10 plagues that God inflicted upon the Egyptians, the mighty deliverance from Pharaoh, the parting of the Red Sea, and the crossing the Red Sea on dry ground. We must learn how to keep the awareness of God’s Presence in our midst.
The Lord wants to infuse every aspect of your life with faith and purpose. You will learn what the rabbis say about the proof of God’s existence.

The essence of trauma is abandonment. Abandonment can lead to learned helplessness and orphaned destinies.
Jesus experienced trauma on the cross.
"46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, "Eli, Eli, la'ma sabach-tha'ni?" that is, "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?"" [Matthew 27:46 RSV]
Jesus sympathizes with our weaknesses and helps us through our trauma.
"15 For we have not a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin." [Hebrews 4:15 RSV]
Everyone of us has experienced some type of trauma. Like Humpty Dumpty who had a great fall, God doesn’t put the broken pieces back together again. Just as God commanded Moses to place the broken pieces of the first set of the Ten Commandments into the Ark of the Covenant, God is going to use your brokenness for His glory. This brokenness becomes part of your anointing.
Trauma is not akin to fragility. On the contrary, this brokenness can bring about hope and resiliency. The key to healing the trauma is through remembering and connecting with the Lord.
"17 "Remember what Am'alek did to you on the way as you came out of Egypt, 18 how he attacked you on the way, when you were faint and weary, and cut off at your rear all who lagged behind you; and he did not fear God. 19 Therefore when the LORD your God has given you rest from all your enemies round about, in the land which the LORD your God gives you for an inheritance to possess, you shall blot out the remembrance of Am'alek from under heaven; you shall not forget." The Lord’s goal in Creation is to fill it with His glory.
Habakkuk 2:14 (RSV) For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.
Is this something that can be fulfilled in our lives? We should all strive to fill our lives with God’s glory. This week we are going to examine the architecture of the Third Temple as our blueprint to apprehend God’s glory in our lives. Why should we even study about the Third Temple? The Midrash explains the reason to us.
The Midrash says, "I will consider it as if they were dealing with the construction of the House."
From this Midrash we learn that even though the Third Temple will be built by God, it is through our efforts of learning about the Third Temple, we can help build it.

Daniel saw the four winds of heaven in a night vision.
"2 Daniel said, "I saw in my vision by night, and behold, the four winds of heaven were stirring up the great sea." (Daniel 7:2 RSV)
Moses describes the four rivers that flowed out of the Garden of Eden.
"10 A river flowed out of Eden to water the garden, and there it divided and became four rivers." (Genesis 2:10 RSV)
There is a mysterious connection between the four winds and the four river heads. This mysterious connection contains secrets to your destiny connection.

God's throne is also known as the Merkavah (Chariot). Isaiah, Ezekiel, and John received similar visions of God's throne.
[Isaiah 6:1 RSV] "1 In the year that King Uzzi'ah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and his train filled the temple."
[Ezekiel 1:4 RSV] "4 As I looked, behold, a stormy wind came out of the north, and a great cloud, with brightness round about it, and fire flashing forth continually, and in the midst of the fire, as it were gleaming bronze."
[Revelation 4:2 RSV] "2 At once I was in the Spirit, and lo, a throne stood in heaven, with one seated on the throne!"
Daniel describes the throne of God as a fiery flame with wheels of burning fire.
[Daniel 7:9 RSV] "9 As I looked, thrones were placed and one that was ancient of days took his seat; his raiment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like pure wool; his throne was fiery flames, its wheels were burning fire."

The prophet Ezekiel begins his book with the glorious encounter of the heavenly Chariots of Fire.
"1 In the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, on the fifth day of the month, as I was among the exiles by the river Chebar, the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God. ... 4 As I looked, behold, a stormy wind came out of the north, and a great cloud, with brightness round about it, and fire flashing forth continually, and in the midst of the fire, as it were gleaming bronze." (Ezekiel 1:1, 4 RSV)
Some years after Israel’s arrival in Babylon through the captivity led by Nebuchadnezzar, the prophet Ezekiel received a prophecy. As he stood on the banks of the river Kevar, the heavens were opened and he was shown visions of God. These visions are known in Talmudic literature as Merkavah (Chariot) or Ma’aseh Merkavah (Account of the Chariot).
Ezekiel's vision was so lofty that the Artscroll commentary provides this disclaimer.
“In this vision, supernatural concepts are described in human terms. ..., they cannot be understood literally nor, in our spiritual poverty, are we equipped even to glimpse at their inner meaning."
In his heavenly encounter, Ezekiel sees a stormy wind, a great cloud and fire that conceal God's Presence. In the midst of this, we see angelic forces issuing forth from God's Presence. Before Elijah was taken to Heaven, he asked Elisha what he wanted. What are you asking the Lord for?
Elisha asked for a double-portion anointing.
"9 When they had crossed, Eli'jah said to Eli'sha, "Ask what I shall do for you, before I am taken from you." And Eli'sha said, "I pray you, let me inherit a double share of your spirit."" (2 Kings 2:9 RSV)
Elijah told him that he had asked for a difficult thing and that he must see him as he is being taken from him.
"10 And he said, "You have asked a hard thing; yet, if you see me as I am being taken from you, it shall be so for you; but if you do not see me, it shall not be so."" (2 Kings 2:10 RSV)
How did Elisha pass the test by seeing Elijah taken from him? Surely this test was more difficult than what it appears on the surface.
"11 And as they still went on and talked, behold, a chariot of fire and horses of fire separated the two of them. And Eli'jah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. 12 And Eli'sha saw it and he cried, "My father, my father! the chariots of Israel and its horsemen!" And he saw him no more. Then he took hold of his own clothes and rent them in two pieces." (2 Kings 2:11-12 RSV)
Not only did Elisha see Elijah caught up by the Chariots of Fire, he also perceived the revelation of the Chariots of Fire.

There is a Call of God upon your life. You will fulfill every good work that God has ordained for your life though His Call on your life.

The call of God upon your life is a Call to the glory.
"1 So I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ as well as a partaker in the glory that is to be revealed." (1 Peter 5:1 RSV)

God longs for His Glory to dwell among you. God's Glory is His Presence. In Hebrew, His Glory is called the Shechinah. You are going to the inner altar of your soul this week. "28 Then Moses took them from their hands, and burned them on the altar with the burnt offering, as an ordination offering, a pleasing odor, an offering by fire to the LORD." (Leviticus 8:28 RSV) The inner altar stood in a place where the mundane did not exist. Incense offerings were made in the inner court of the Tabernacle. The Hebrew word for incense, "ketoret" contains the Hebrew word for bond, ketira. This word describes what you will experience in the inner court of your soul. The inner altar of your soul will intensify your bond with the Lord. God’s Presence only dwells in you only to the degree that it is perceived and treasured. What was created first, the world or the Temple? Most of you would respond with, the world. Wrong answer! :) According to Pirkei Avot (Ethics of the Fathers), “Seven things were created before the world was created. They are: The Torah, Gehinnom, the Garden of Eden, the Throne of Glory, the Temple, Repentance, and the Name of the Messiah.” The Temple is your glory connection on earth. Exodus 25:8 (RSV) And let them make me a sanctuary, that I may dwell in their midst. God desires that His glory dwells among you. Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who dwells in you. I often hear people ask, “Lord, give me more of you.” I think this is the wrong question to ask. Instead, people should ask, “Lord, have more of me.” "19 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body." (1 Corinthians 6:19-20 RSV) The primary purpose of the Temple is to facilitate the revelation of God’s Presence into your life. Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. David's men became mighty men by reason of the anointing. This mantle came upon them when they served David. They became skilled in physical and spiritual warfare. They were also skilled in the word of God. These are few of the attributes of being armed with bows.
"1 And these are the ones who came to David to Ziklag, while he was still hiding from Saul the son of Kish, and they were among the mighty men who aided the war. 2 Armed with bows, shooting with the right and left hands, with stones and with arrows in the bow, of Saul's brethren of Benjamin.” (1 Chronicles 12:1-2 chabad.org)
They were armed with bows and arrows for shooting in front of them and behind them. They were even skilled in shooting stones on their bowstrings. This anointing came from David who used a stone to kill Goliath in battle.
"49 And David put his hand in his bag and took out a stone, and slung it, and struck the Philistine on his forehead; the stone sank into his forehead, and he fell on his face to the ground." (1 Samuel 17:49 RSV)
The bow also represents spiritual warfare as we see David playing the harp for Saul's deliverance.
"23 And whenever the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, David took the lyre and played it with his hand; so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him." (1 Samuel 16:23 RSV)

Destiny is often defined as the events that will necessarily happen to a particular person or thing in the future. You should aim towards destiny but not in the sense that the world perceives destiny. The prophetic word is destiny’s aim. The prophetic word should guide you. It was the prophetic word describing Saul that was destiny’s aim in his life.
"and he had a son whose name was Saul, a handsome young man. There was not a man among the people of Israel more handsome than he; from his shoulders upward he was taller than any of the people." (1 Samuel 9:2 RSV)
When Saul was walking in his destiny, he stood head and shoulders above all the people. This wasn’t just a physical attribute. This attribute was a prophetic word describing his impeccable character and anointing that qualified him to become the first king of Israel. This attribute was destiny’s aim in his life. As long as Saul kept his aim at the target, he was successful in all that he did. It was his disobedience that caused him to lose his position as king. He completely lost his position as king when he consulted the witch of Endor. Scripture describes him losing destiny’s aim when he fell from being heads and shoulder above to falling full length upon the ground.
"7 Then Saul said to his servants, "Seek out for me a woman who is a medium, that I may go to her and inquire of her." And his servants said to him, "Behold, there is a medium at Endor." ... 20 Then Saul fell at once full length upon the ground, filled with fear because of the words of Samuel; and there was no strength in him, for he had eaten nothing all day and all night." (1 Samuel 28:7, 20 RSV)
This was a tragic ending for Saul and he died shortly after. This week, you will learn how to implement destiny’s aim in your own life. Unlike Saul, you will learn how to stay on your prophetic trajectory using destiny’s aim as your spiritual GPS. See you on Thursday.

After David defeats Goliath, David has popularity with everyone. David was successful in everything that he did. He obeyed King Saul with every command he was given regardless of how ridiculous the command was. He was so successful that the king promotes him.
"5 And David went out and was successful wherever Saul sent him; so that Saul set him over the men of war. And this was good in the sight of all the people and also in the sight of Saul's servants." (1 Samuel 18:5 RSV)
King Saul even gives his daughter, Michal to him in marriage. Imagine this tremendous honor?
On the surface, it appears as though King Saul is promoting David because of his great military success and humility. On the contrary, it was Destiny's Arrow that was propelling David into success.

An amazing bond developed between David and King Saul's son, the crown prince Jonathan.
"1 When he had finished speaking to Saul, the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul." (1 Samuel 18:1 RSV)
A similar bond was created between Israel (Jacob) and his son, Joseph.
"3 Now Israel loved Joseph more than any other of his children, because he was the son of his old age; and he made him a long robe with sleeves." (Genesis 37:3 RSV)
Jacob made a coat of many colors for Joseph. Similarly, Jonathan put his own robe upon David.
"4 And Jonathan stripped himself of the robe that was upon him, and gave it to David, and his armor, and even his sword and his bow and his girdle." (1 Samuel 18:4 RSV)

Whenever I lose video in my FaceTime conversations with my 7-year-old nephew, he says, “poor connection.” Many people have poor connections in life. Poor connections can cause you to miss destiny defining moments. In contrast, one destiny defining connection can cause you to find your way in life. Biblical Hebrew is known as the Lashon HaKodesh, the Holy Tongue. Biblical Hebrew is the only language that is Divinely created. Each letter of the Hebrew Aleph-Beit has been formed and shaped by God alone. As you study and mediate in the letters of light, you will receive wisdom and understanding from God's Word that will transform your exile into redemption.
Joshua 1:8 (RSV) "This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success."
Each letter is so laden with meaning that the greatest rabbinic scholars have engaged in countless hours of in-depth study to understand why God made them the way He did. For example, each Hebrew letter possesses:
- Design -- the specific way each letter is formed represents the divine light hidden in each letter.
- Gematria — each letter represents a certain number, e.g., Aleph = 1, Beit = 2, etc.
- Meaning — each letter has many meanings. e.g, the letter Aleph stands for chief, to learn, wondrous, and much more. Beit means house.
- Nekudos (vowels) — most letters have a vowel that tells us how it is to be pronounced.
- Crowns — some letters in the Torah have crowns. The crowns add strength to the letters that add special meaning.
- Cantillation — each word in the Torah has a musical note.
The Hebrew letters are letters of light. Jesus is the light.
[John 8:12 RSV] "12 Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of the world; he who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.””
Jesus is hidden within each letter of the Aleph-Beit and He will transform every place of exile in your soul into redemption. Each Hebrew letter radiates light, insight and clarity. Jesus is the living Aleph-Beit. When Jesus said He is the Alpha and Omega, He was saying that He is Aleph-Beit.

The word, rest in Ruth 3:1 is connected to the word, rest in Genesis 2:2.
Genesis 2:2 (RSV) "2 And on the seventh day God finished his work which he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had done."

s a Christian, you may question why I teach Torah. I will answer this question by asking you a question. Would you ever consult with a medical doctor that has not completed medical school and residency? I think the answer would be an overwhelming NO! Medical school is the foundation of a doctor’s learning. Likewise, you cannot begin to apprehend the depths of God's Word without its foundation. The very essence of the Bible is the Torah. By definition, the word Torah means instruction. Torah refers to the Five Books of Moses: Bereishit, Shemot, Vayikra, Bamidbhar, and Devarim in Hebrew or Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy in Greek. Torah is also referred to as Chumash and Pentateuch that are respectively the Hebrew and Greek words for "five."
The Five Books of Moses are the foundation of Judaism and Christianity. Jesus is the living Torah.
[John 1:1-2 RSV] "1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God;"

Chess is a game of conspiracy, creativity, patience, and strategy. In the game of chess, each opponent applies tactics to checkmate the other player's king. The ultimate checkmate took place when Jesus was crucified on the cross at Calvary. Jesus checkmated Satan.
Both Jesus and King David faced conspiracies in their lives due to the counsel of the wicked. The Torah teaches us the secret to Defeating the Counsel of the Wicked. During Jesus' journey to Calvary, He experienced countless conspiracies. Here are several examples.
The chief priests and the scribes conspired against Jesus.
[Mark 14:1 RSV] "1 It was now two days before the Passover and the feast of Unleavened Bread. And the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how to arrest him by stealth, and kill him;"
One of His own disciples conspired against Him.
[Mark 14:10-11 RSV] "10 Then Judas Iscariot, who was one of the twelve, went to the chief priests in order to betray him to them. 11 And when they heard it they were glad, and promised to give him money. And he sought an opportunity to betray him."
The chief priests, elders, and scribes conspired against Him.
[Mark 15:1 RSV] "1 And as soon as it was morning the chief priests, with the elders and scribes, and the whole council held a consultation; and they bound Jesus and led him away and delivered him to Pilate."
Even His three closest confidents slept in His greatest moment of need.
[Mark 14:33-42 RSV] "33 And he took with him Peter and James and John, and began to be greatly distressed and troubled. 34 And he said to them, "My soul is very sorrowful, even to death; remain here, and watch." 35 And going a little farther, he fell on the ground and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him. 36 And he said, "Abba, Father, all things are possible to thee; remove this cup from me; yet not what I will, but what thou wilt." 37 And he came and found them sleeping, and he said to Peter, "Simon, are you asleep? Could you not watch one hour? 38 Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." 39 And again he went away and prayed, saying the same words. 40 And again he came and found them sleeping, for their eyes were very heavy; and they did not know what to answer him. 41 And he came the third time, and said to them, "Are you still sleeping and taking your rest? It is enough; the hour has come; the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. 42 Rise, let us be going; see, my betrayer is at hand.""
King David also experienced conspiracies against him that parallel Jesus' road to Calvary. During the last years of his life when he was established in his kingdom, his own son, Absalom conspired against him to overtake the kingdom of Israel.
[2 Samuel 15:12 RSV] "12 And while Ab'salom was offering the sacrifices, he sent for Ahith'ophel the Gi'lonite, David's counselor, from his city Giloh. And the conspiracy grew strong, and the people with Ab'salom kept increasing."
Both Jesus and David experienced tremendous conspiracies and they applied supernatural strategies in Defeating the Counsel of the Wicked. Through this study, the Lord will download supernatural strategies into your spirit that will help you to defeat the counsel of the wicked in your own life.

During our preparation for Passover (Pesach), we study Exodus and the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, especially the narratives leading to Jesus’ crucifixion. We experience tremendous deliverance in our lives as we engage in this feast with the art of asking questions.
Passover is a Biblical feast that is filled with questions. Look at the questions that Moses asked God at the Burning Bush.
[Exodus 3:11, 13 RSV] "11 But Moses said to God, "Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh, and bring the sons of Israel out of Egypt?" ... 13 Then Moses said to God, "If I come to the people of Israel and say to them, 'The God of your fathers has sent me to you,' and they ask me, 'What is his name?' what shall I say to them?”"
Even Jesus demonstrated this tremendous ability when he stayed behind in Jerusalem after the feast of Passover.
[Luke 2:41-45 RSV] "41 Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the Passover. 42 And when he was twelve years old, they went up according to custom; 43 and when the feast was ended, as they were returning, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. His parents did not know it, 44 but supposing him to be in the company they went a day's journey, and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintances; 45 and when they did not find him, they returned to Jerusalem, seeking him.”
When Jesus asked questions as a 12-year-old child, He was learning about His own destiny as the Passover Lamb. When Mary and Joseph found Him in the Temple, they heard Him asking questions.
[Luke 2:46-47 RSV] "46 After three days they found him in the temple, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions; 47 and all who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers.”
Mary responded with a question.
[Luke 2:48 RSV] "48 And when they saw him they were astonished; and his mother said to him, "Son, why have you treated us so? Behold, your father and I have been looking for you anxiously.”"
Jesus responded to His mother with additional questions.
[Luke 2:49 RSV] "49 And he said to them, "How is it that you sought me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father's house?”"

We have been studying about the feast of Purim in the Scroll of Esther for the last several weeks. Now we will begin to transition to the feast of Passover (Pesach). We will bridge the gap between Purim and Passover. Both feasts are intertwined by their miracles yet the miracles are different in nature. In Purim, we see God's hidden miracles. For example, we never see God’s Name mentioned throughout the Megillah yet we see God working behind the scenes. God orchestrated events to save the Jewish people from extermination. In Passover, we see God's open miracles. For instance, God openly displayed His power by the plagues He inflicted upon the Egyptians and by the parting of the Red Sea. In contrast to the miracles that we see in both feasts, there is one theme that bridges Purim and Passover. This theme is the key to your destiny. Several weeks ago, I asked you the question, “Can you read Esther as a standalone book?” Remember that I told you that you cannot read the Scroll of Esther as a standalone book. I said that this book answers earlier concepts. You have to see this book in a bigger context. Everything has reverberations, echoes, and implications. Over the last five weeks, we have read Esther out of sequence in a topsy-turvy manner. We learned that Esther's and Mordechai's identities were not their own. They were the product of their ancestral DNA. They had to learn how to process, survive, and overcome trauma as a result of Haman's plot to wipe out Jewry throughout 127 provinces of the Persian empire. They fought the most wicked force on earth, Amalek. Esther and Mordecai were instrumental in the destruction of the wicked devices of Haman, a descendant of Amalek. The evil tactics of Amalek become even clearer when we cross-read the Scroll of Esther intertextually with the Holocaust. Hitler was a 20th century Amalek. Both Haman and Hitler attempted to exterminate Jewry. Although, we may never come to understand the evils of the Holocaust, God brought meaning to the pain by bringing the Jews into a new national identity.
The Scroll of Esther is filled with outlandish plot twists, topsy-turvy character dynamics, and the exaggerated practices of Persian customs. We have extensively used intertextuality to study the Scroll of Esther. Specifically, we have used texts from Genesis, Exodus, Deuteronomy, 1 Samuel, and 2 Samuel to explain the events in Esther because I told you that Esther cannot be read as a standalone book.
Now, guess what? We are going to break all the rules that I taught you over the last several weeks and we are going to read the Scroll of Esther as a standalone book. You will see the emergence of the real Queen as you read the Scroll of Esther as a standalone book. You too will emerge with a new sense of identity and purpose as you study this dynamic book.

I would like to begin this teaching with some questions. Have you ever kept a secret? Is it okay to keep a secret from others? Do we see secrets in the Bible? We see many episodes in the Bible where secrets are kept. What is the role of secrets in the Bible?
One of the greatest secrets in the Bible is the secret that Esther kept from the king.
[Esther 2:9-10 RSV] "9 And the maiden pleased him and won his favor; and he quickly provided her with her ointments and her portion of food, and with seven chosen maids from the king's palace, and advanced her and her maids to the best place in the harem. 10 Esther had not made known her people or kindred, for Mor'decai had charged her not to make it known.”
It is no surprise that this book is called Megilat Esther, the Scroll of Esther. The heroine of the scroll is Esther whose name is the from the word, Str which means secret. Thus, Megilat Esther is called the Scroll of the Secret or the Scroll of Hidden Things.
This focus on secrecy tells us that we need to understand the reason for secrets in the scroll and what messages are being conveyed.
The Scroll of Esther is full of secrets. For example, before Esther was elevated to queen, she was told to keep her identity a secret.
[Esther 2:10 KJV] "10 Esther had not shewed her people nor her kindred: for Mordecai had charged her that she should not shew [it].”
The king is secretive of the identity of whom he intends to honor when he solicits advice from Haman. Haman thought the king wanted to honor him.
[Esther 6:6 KJV] "6 So Haman came in. And the king said unto him, What shall be done unto the man whom the king delighteth to honour? Now Haman thought in his heart, To whom would the king delight to do honour more than to myself?”
This fascinating scroll is filled with secrets. The Scroll of Esther is a Comedy of Errors. It’s a Game of Thrones. It’s a game of chess. Who is going to give the final Checkmate?

The Scroll of Esther teaches us how to Live Beyond the End. Esther’s Journey was a journey from Trauma to Resilience. Esther provides the framework to recover from any type of human suffering including the worst atrocities that have plagued mankind such as the Holocaust. The essence of Esther's trauma is found within the text of the Scroll of Esther which I will expound upon in this podcast.
[Esther 2:7-8, 10-11, 16-17 RSV] "7 He had brought up Hadas'sah, that is Esther, the daughter of his uncle, for she had neither father nor mother; the maiden was beautiful and lovely, and when her father and her mother died, Mor'decai adopted her as his own daughter. 8 So when the king's order and his edict were proclaimed, and when many maidens were gathered in Susa the capital in custody of Hegai, Esther also was taken into the king's palace and put in custody of Hegai who had charge of the women. ... 10 Esther had not made known her people or kindred, for Mor'decai had charged her not to make it known. 11 And every day Mor'decai walked in front of the court of the harem, to learn how Esther was and how she fared. ... 16 And when Esther was taken to King Ahasu-e'rus into his royal palace in the tenth month, which is the month of Tebeth, in the seventh year of his reign, 17 the king loved Esther more than all the women, and she found grace and favor in his sight more than all the virgins, so that he set the royal crown on her head and made her queen instead of Vashti."
The Holocaust, also known as the Shoah, was a genocide in which Nazi Germany under the leadership of Adolf Hitler, systematically murdered six million European Jews during World War II. How can we begin to explain such atrocities? The Scroll of Esther is bound up in trauma. It has helped the Jews survive the trauma of Nazi anti-Semitism through the emergence of a new Jewish identity. You will also emerge victorious from your personal traumas with a new sense of identity through the Scroll of Esther.

Last week, we began a fascination study in the Rippling Effect of Time. Our actions can have a rippling effect not only in the present but can also have reverberations throughout future generations. For example, King Saul's disobedience to the commandment to wipe out all the Amalekites in 1 Samuel 15 brought about the pending threat of the annihilation of the Jewish people in the Scroll of Esther. In addition, King David's choice to show mercy to Shimei had a Rippling Effect of Time. Without King David's mercy, we would not have Queen Esther and Mordecai who were instrumental in saving the Jews from genocide through the plot of wicked, Haman.
[2 Samuel 19:23 KJV] "23 Therefore the king said unto Shimei, Thou shalt not die. And the king sware unto him."
This week, we will continue this study with the Rippling Effect of Time in Personality Structures. You will learn how Queen Esther's personality structure is connected to her ancestor, King Saul. You will see how Mordecai's refusal to bow before Haman was connected to Benjamin not bowing before Esau, the grandfather of Amalek. Jacob and Rachel were the originators of this royal tribe of Benjamin. One of the greatest gifts God has given us is the gift of time. The first commandment that God gave Moses was the institution of the Biblical calendar.
[Exodus 12:1-2 RSV] "1 The LORD said to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, 2 "This month shall be for you the beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year for you."
When the Israelites were enslaved to Pharaoh, their time did not belong to them. As slaves, every day was the same without hope, creativity, and a future. When God entrusted the Jews with the gift of time, He required that they sanctify time by making it holy. They were given the command to infuse the world with holiness and the fulfillment of the will of God in the earth. Just as the moon illuminates the night sky, the light of the Word of God illuminates the darkness in the world.
In the Scroll of Esther, we see the Rippling Effect of Time. Esther's destiny defining moment took place when the king's edict went out to annihilate the Jews throughout the Persian empire.
[Esther 4:13-14 RSV] "13 Then Mor'decai told them to return answer to Esther, "Think not that in the king's palace you will escape any more than all the other Jews. 14 For if you keep silence at such a time as this, relief and deliverance will rise for the Jews from another quarter, but you and your father's house will perish. And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?""
Esther had a choice to make. Was she going to remain silent or was she going to cause a Rippling Effect of Time? Everyone one of us has to make a Rippling Effect of Time from time to time. The decision Esther had to make was not an easy decision. God was going to bring deliverance to the Jews either through Esther or someone else. Like all of us, Esther had free-will and she had a choice to make. What happens when you place your hands into water? It causes ripples in the water. What happens when you make choices? It causes ripples in time.

Have you ever asked the question, “Is God with us or not?” I believe we have all asked it from time to time. The congregation of Israel asked the same question when they were thirsty.
[Exodus 17:1-2 RSV] "1 All the congregation of the people of Israel moved on from the wilderness of Sin by stages, according to the commandment of the LORD, and camped at Reph'idim; but there was no water for the people to drink. 2 Therefore the people found fault with Moses, and said, "Give us water to drink." And Moses said to them, "Why do you find fault with me? Why do you put the LORD to the proof?”"
They questioned the proof of God even after experiencing the 10 plagues that God inflicted upon the Egyptians, the mighty deliverance from Pharaoh, the parting of the Red Sea, and crossing the Red Sea on dry ground. This type of questioning is known as irrational doubt. Shortly after the children of Israel entertained irrational doubt, Amalek attacked:
[Exodus 17:8 RSV] "8 Then came Am'alek and fought with Israel at Reph'idim."
The origin of doubt goes back to the Garden of Eden.
[Genesis 3:9-11 RSV] "9 But the LORD God called to the man, and said to him, "Where are you?" 10 And he said, "I heard the sound of thee in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself." 11 He said, "Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?""
There is a hidden code in this Scripture that connects us to the concept of irrational doubt. Where did this doubt originate? The element of doubt was brought into the world at the moment Adam ate of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. Notice that it was not a tree of pure evil because that would be relatively easy to fight. Rather, the fruit of the tree contained a mixture of good and evil so that it was difficult to separate them and determine what was good and what was evil.
After they ate of the fruit, God came into the Garden of Eden and asked Adam, “Ayekah - Where are you,” “Hamin hoetz – Did you eat of the tree ...?”
Note the Hebrew words, “Hamin hoetz” that mean, “Did you eat of the tree …?” The word, Hamin contains the very letters of our archenemy, Haman. Haman tried to eradicate the Jewish people from the Persian empire and thus eradicate the knowledge of God in the world. We read about this in the Scroll of Esther. This teaching will be the first of several teachings on the Scroll of Esther as we prepare for Purim.
Haman was a descendant of Amalek. Irrational Doubt is connected to Amalek. Amalek's goal is to eradicate the knowledge of God from the world. If you give into the ideology of Amalek, then you are left with a world of helplessness, insignificance, and loneliness. You are not alone in this world. In this teaching, I would like to lead you on a journey to eliminate irrational doubt from your life.

Bending the Heavens At the giving of the 10 Commandments, a Bending of the Heavens took place and God descended upon Mount Sinai.
[Exodus 19:20 (Chabad.org)] "20 The Lord descended upon Mount Sinai, to the peak of the mountain, and the Lord summoned Moses to the peak of the mountain, and Moses ascended."
He bent down the heavens and spread them upon Mount Sinai like a garment. Garments often represent character-traits in the Torah. At the giving of the 10 Commandments, the garments of the Lord's loving-kindness, mercy, and truth were revealed to His chosen people. The meeting that took place at Mount Sinai was a marriage ceremony. The Israelites became a holy nation and joined their Bridegroom, the Lord Himself in Holy Matrimony. Marriage vows were exchanged between the Lord and His chosen people.
God spoke all these words.
[Exodus 20:1 (Chabad.org)] "1 God spoke all these words, to respond:"
What are all these words? These words are the entire 10 Commandments. God spoke all 10 Commandments in a single utterance. After this verse, God explains each statement of the 10 Commandments individually. With each statement, the Israelites responded, "Yes" to the positive commandments and "No" to the negative commandments. Doesn't this remind you of an American marriage ceremony where the bride and groom respond, "I do" with each vow of the marriage covenant.
Similarly, in the Creation of the Heavens and the Earth, a Bending of the Heavens took place and God spoke the entire Creation into existence in Genesis 1:1.
[Genesis 1:1 (Chabad.org)] "1In the beginning of God's creation of the heavens and the earth."
In the next several verses of Genesis 1, God completed the Creation with 10 individual utterances that begin with "and God said." There is a relationship between the 10 Utterances of Creation and the 10 Commandments. God created the world for the sake of the Torah and for the sake of Israel (Rashi). Israel became a nation and sealed her marriage vows with the Lord at the giving of the 10 Commandments.
Like Jacob, let's prostrate ourselves before the Lord for his loving-kindness and tender mercies towards us.
[Genesis 47:31(Chabad.org)] "31 And he said, "Swear to me. " So he swore to him, and Israel prostrated himself on the head of the bed."

Moses demonstrates the greatest credentials for leadership in the Bible. Not only was Moses one of the greatest prophets recorded in the Bible and the giver of the Torah, he also became one of the greatest leaders in human history. Within 210 year of the Israelites' exile in Egypt, the Jewish population rose up to 2,500,000 people. This number includes 600,000 men between the ages of 20-60. The number 600,000 is significant because there are 600,000 letters in the Torah, the first 5 books of the Bible. Moses was chosen by God to lead a population of 2.5 million people out of Egyptian slavery and to lead them to the border of the Promised Land in their 40 year journey. I don't think anyone has a better resume for the credentials for leadership than Moses.
This week, we will explore Moses' credentials for leadership. His call to leadership began in Exodus 2:11:
[Exodus 2:11 RSV] "11 One day, when Moses had grown up, he went out to his people and looked on their burdens; and he saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his people."

The descent of the sons of Israel into Egypt demonstrates how to give meaning your pain:
[Exodus 1:1, 5 RSV] "1 These are the names of the sons of Israel who came to Egypt with Jacob, each with his household:"
The first Torah portion of the book of Exodus, Parashah Shemot, shows the horrors of enslavement for the Jewish people. Shemot is also the Hebrew name for the second book of the Bible. The word, Shemot means Names. It is through the “Names” God gave His people that they emerged victorious out of their cruel bondage and subjugation. Jacob’s sons are listed to stress that the Jews did not replace their Jewish names with Egyptian ones, signifying that they refused total assimilation into Egyptian culture. By listing their names, God is emphasizing how precious His people are to Him.
In exile, the Israelites actualized their ability to overcome darkness and gave meaning to their pain. Even as the Children of Israel emerged victorious from the Egyptian exile, you too will emerge victorious from the tribulations of your life. It is through the process of exile that God will bring forth your hidden potential. In this study, you will forsake your Egyptian (mitzrayim) mindsets of limitation and emerge with new purpose as you embrace your destiny which is your high calling in Christ Jesus:
[Philippians 3:14 RSV] "14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus."

[Luke 2:11 KJV] "11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord."
There are several parallels between the infancy narratives of Jesus and Moses. The glory of the Lord shined both when Jesus was born and when Moses was born.
[Luke 2:9 KJV] "9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid."
[Exodus 2:2 KJV] "2 And the woman conceived, and bare a son: and when she saw him that he [was a] goodly [child], she hid him three months."
At the time Moses was born, the whole house was filled with light. For it is written here, “And she saw him that he was good,” and elsewhere it is written (Genesis 1:4), “And G-d saw the light that it was good.” - (Talmud, Sotah 12a).
In addition, both Moses and Jesus had to be hidden because their respective kings wanted to kill them. Both Pharaoh and Herod were threatened by the deliverers of the Jewish people.
Herod sought to kill Jesus.
[Matthew 2:13 KJV] "13 And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him."
Pharaoh sought to kill Moses
[Exodus 1:22 KJV] "22 And Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, Every son that is born ye shall cast into the river, and every daughter ye shall save alive."
The great Jewish commentator, Rashi said that the day Moses was born, Pharaoh’s astrologers told him that the Jewish messiah had been born. Both children were destined to be saviors. Both children were destined to become kings. This week, we will study about the Role of a Royal.

In order to become a royal, you must adopt the etiquette, protocol, and culture of the kingdom. When Meghan Markle become a Royal of the United Kingdom, she immersed herself in the ways of British royalty.
Are you ready to enter into the Etiquette, Protocol, and the Culture of the Torah? This is exactly the royal place that Jacob and Joseph came into when they entered Egypt. Joseph was sold into Egypt as a slave at the age of 17. Jacob spent the last 17 years of his life in Egypt. The number, 17 is the Royal connection between Joseph and Jacob. The last 17 years of Jacob's life were the best ever because this is where he implemented the Etiquette, Protocol, and the Culture of the Torah. The final portion of Genesis is Parashah Vayechi. Vayechi means, "and he lived" as shown in Genesis 47:28:
[Genesis 47:28 RSV] "28 And Jacob lived in the land of Egypt seventeen years; so the days of Jacob, the years of his life, were a hundred and forty-seven years."
Jacob and Joseph show us the blueprint to Becoming a Royal. There is no greater calling than to be called a Royal of the Kingdom of Heaven.

Are you ready to Assume your Role in the Tapestry of Creation? Pharaoh begins to share his dream with Joseph in Genesis 41:
[Genesis 41:17-18 chabad.org] “17 In my dream, behold, I was standing on the bank of the Nile. 18 And behold, seven cows of robust flesh and handsome form were ascending from the Nile, and they pastured in the marshland.”
The dream shows us Pharaoh’s philosophy of life. To Pharaoh, life is a river with himself standing on the riverbank. He sees himself on the outside of the river's flow meaning that he is a passive bystander to what takes place in life. Pharaoh’s philosophy of life is diametrically opposed to Joseph’s philosophy of life. Joseph recounts his dream in Genesis 37:
[Genesis 37:7 KJV] "7 For, behold, we [were] binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf arose, and also stood upright; and, behold, your sheaves stood round about, and made obeisance to my sheaf."
Both Pharaoh and Joseph see the future in their dreams with a significant difference. To Joseph, life is a field where he works. He sees himself laboring in the field. He is an active participant within the tapestry of Creation. To Pharaoh, life is like a river where he stands as a passive bystander. There is no fulfillment within the Pharaohic mindset. In contrast, you have the potential to experience tremendous fulfillment and invigoration when you assume your role in the tapestry of Creation with the mindset of Joseph.

Do you have a dream for your destiny? Joseph shows you the blueprint to manifesting your dreams. Joseph waited 22 years for the fulfillment of his prophetic dreams. This week's Torah portion is Parashah Mikeitz. Parashah Mikeitz consists of Genesis 41:1 through 44:17. Mikeitz means end. Pursuing your dreams will bring you to an expected end. Jeremiah says:
[Jeremiah 29:11 KJV] "11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end."
Every affliction and trial Joseph went through had a set end. The stage was being set for the rise of Joseph to the position of viceroy over Egypt. You are going to see the fulfillment of prophecy in Joseph's life. The end also prophetically represents you coming into the fullness of your highest calling in God. My prayer today is that you will discover the destiny that the Lord has placed in you through the Word of God.

The Pursuit of Truth has been the passion of philosophers, preachers, scholars, scientists, and countless others throughout the ages. What is truth and how does one find it?
The American Declaration of Independence says, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."
In Pursuit of Truth, W. V. Quine says, "The pursuit of truth is a quest that links observation, theory, and the world."
This week's Torah portion is Parashah Vayeitzei. Parashah Vayeitzei consists of Genesis 28:10 to 32:3. Vayeitzei means, "And He Went Out." In this Torah portion, Jacob escapes from his wicked brother, Esau and flees toward Haran:
[Genesis 28:10 RSV] "10 Jacob left Beer-sheba, and went toward Haran."
Jacob encounters something in his flight from Beer-sheba towards Haran. His flight was for the pursuit of truth. In his pursuit of truth, he came to a certain place:
[Genesis 28:11 RSV] "11 And he came to a certain place, and stayed there that night, because the sun had set. Taking one of the stones of the place, he put it under his head and lay down in that place to sleep."
What is this certain place? This certain place is the place of truth. Jacob arrived at the place of truth. I would personally like to invite you to join me on this journey.

In this week's Torah portion, you will learn about generations, specifically about the generations of Isaac.
[Genesis 25:19 KJV] "19 And these [are] the generations of Isaac, Abraham's son: Abraham begat Isaac:"
This week's Torah portion is Parashah Toldot (Genesis 25:19 to 28:9). Toldot means, generations or offspring. The parashah title is taken from Genesis 25:19. In a general sense, Toldot means generations representing that which a person generates or produces. This Torah portion tells us about the generations of Isaac, his twin sons, Jacob and Esau. In addition, the Torah teaches us that Isaac was the only worthy successor of the Abrahamic Covenant. Within the Generations is "The Never Ending Battle for Truth." Isaac had to find truth when he transferred the Blessing to Jacob. This was greatest test of Isaac's life. Your destiny is found in the test.

A person's "comfort zone" is called that because it's comfortable and safe. However, your comfort zone can also be a place of stagnation. God is calling you out of a place of stagnation into a place that is filled with opportunities for growth.
This week's Torah portion is Lech Lecha. It means to “Go for yourself."
[Genesis 12:1 RSV] "1 Now the LORD said to Abram, "Go from your country and your kindred and your father's house to the land that I will show you."
God called Abram out of his comfort zone. Abraham's destination was a land that God was going to show him. God rewarded Abram for every step he took. He didn’t know where he was going. God kept him in suspense in order to intensify his joy and sense of anticipation. Likewise, the Lord will keep you in suspense because you have no clue what God has in store for you. The Lord's plans for you are amazing:
[Jeremiah 29:11 RSV] "11 For I know the plans I have for you, says the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope."
