This is a series about four children who used to live alone, in an old, abandoned boxcar. One day, their grandfather of whom they were scared of found them. Once they all met, the children realized he wasn't so bad after all. Now the children live with their grandfather and their boxcar is now in their backyard. In this book, Jessie, the oldest sister, tries out for a part in their town's local play, The Wizard of Oz. The rest of the children soon realize that they all want in on the play as well. As the story goes on, mysterious things begin to occur, and it's up to the mystery-solving Boxcar Children to figure out what's going on and what's causing all the mishaps!
