Joining Bill in the studio this week was York folk-rock band The Converts. Having appeared twice on the show as a three-piece band, they have now expanded to a five-piece band, with the addition of a drummer and a mandolin player. They played a great set of their original songs, drank lots of beer, ate large packs of savoury snacks, and around 11.30pm got out their pack-up of cheese & tomato sandwiches!

Joining Bill in the studio this week was almost no-one, as the booked guest, who postponed three weeks ago due to a puncture, didn't show up or communicate. After a couple of messages were sent out, Mike Cooling saved the day by popping along, arriving at 9.45pm and did a great set of original songs, including a couple of new ones, too. We even managed to have a couple of fig-related songs in the second hour. Ignore the 1st hour beep - tecnical incompetance-caused glitch!

Rich curated a set of songs for the show, some who were influences on the band, and some live recordings of the band over the years, as well as some voice clip memories from guitarist Neil Macnab. Bill also found a few appropriate songs to play, too.

Joining Bill & Mike in the studio was no-one, because we were having a computer system upgrade, so a couple of weeks ago we nipped into Studio 2 and pre-recorded this week's show. Mike brought his keyboard in and sang some fantastic original tunes (and a cover). However, we were beset with gremlins with the microphones crackling, and it also turns out that 45 minutes into each hour Norman Collier joined in, as something affected the recording causing a few gaps. No idea why. Normal service will be resumed next week.

Joining Bill & Mike in the studio this week was Daisy Dot making her debut on the show. Daisy is just 15 years old and Bill saw her at a recent Culture Train event at North Newbald, and Mike has seen her perform at open mic events, too. Although she performed a set of cover songs, she did play us a song before the show went on air that she'd almost finished writing, so we persuaded her to come up with an ending, which she did, and she performed the song in the final hour of the show.

Joining Bill in the studio this week was occasional co-host Mike Cooling. Mike volunteered to come and play as we had no guest booked. Mike brought his keyboard this time and performed a great mix of original material as well as some covers. Previous guest and listener Andrew Kneeshaw posted to say he was tuned in whilst baking, and after a bit of cajoling he turned up with a plate of tasty home-baking, as well as a couple of apples from his tree. In response, Mike handed Andrew a guitar and he performed one of his own songs.

Joining Bill in the studio this week for our 800th show was Cherry Burton's Andrew Kneeshaw making his solo debut on the show. During an off-air chat, Andrew asked who had made the most performances on the show with different acts, and after some thought Bill thought Andrew was up there in the top 1 or 2, as he's also appeared as a member of: The Bayhorsemen of The Apoclypse, The Midnight Flyers, and The Cherry Burtones. Andrew is primarily a keyboard player and bassist, but although he brought his keyboard with him he played a great set of songs that he's written, or added music to other peoples' lyrics.

Our planned guest this week had to postpone due to the dreaded lurgy and losing her voice, so Bill was alone in the studio, until the doorbell rang just after 10pm. It was co-host and Chief Chair Shuffler & Coffee-Maker Mike, who brought his guitar with him just in case it was needed. It was, so Mike performed 5 of his original songs and made 2 coffees, too. All good stuff!

Apart from a couple of Christmas/New Year shows, all shows over the last 15 years have been live. However, this show was pre-recorded as in December, Bill's daughter bought tickets to see Killer Queen in Hull City Hall, so whilst this show was on air, Bill & Co-Host and Chair-Shuffler Mike were rocking away to classic Queen songs. Mike arrived just before 10pm, and Kieran, now he's a regular on the show, brought a tin of prunes to make sure he keeps regular!

We tried - and failed - to find a replacement guest to no avail. However, we had 18 new tracks, lots of not-so-new tracks, The Shepherd's Delight and The Weird Record of The Week.

Joining Bill in the studio were father/son duo Steve & Louis Appleyard, who are the driving force behind the band The Tinderbox Experience. The lads were recommended to us a week ago, but after they arrived at the studio and a quick chat, it transpired Steve had played on the pre-curser to The Fox's Den in November 2007, in our old Vixen 87 days. We both thought each others' names were familiar, even though Steve performed in character in 2007. This time, he was himself and with excellent guitar work from 15-year-old Louis, a top show of fun was had by all.
