The Last Airbender’s popularity stems its moving story arcs and unforgettable cast of characters. A fan favorite (among many) is the meditative, kind, and tea-loving Uncle Iroh. The 'Verse! got the chance to speak with Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, who portrays the him in the latest series.
Lee was a relative latecomer to the animated series, but a dedicated fan episode one, to when he was fan-cast as Iroh, to now.
The doctors are in! The squad is on call to diagnose a cinematic universe franchise that’s close to all of our hearts: the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Setting aside our conflicts of interest, we diagnose and plan a course of treatment for the ailing franchise, taking into account patient complaints (aka whatever the general public thinks is the problem), current symptoms (aka whatever our resident MCU MDs know is the problem), propose treatment and give the prognosis. This is a can’t-miss episode for anyone who’s ever started a sentence with, “Here’s the problem with the MCU today…”

Up next, school’s still in session with Star Trek Uni’Verse!-ity, helmed by our very own Professor Longacre. He’s no replacement for the Admiral but he looks and sounds suspiciously similar. Their squad's stance on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is quite the opposite of that for Secret Invasion. It is more like see-and-wait-and-wait-and-wait for more. To say the squad is enjoying season two would be an understatement. It is as if they keep waiting for 'Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow' for new episodes to discuss, just like 'The Lotus Eaters.'

We’re taking a break from new content this week and REvisiting the first Star Wars sequel, The Force Awakens, as well as REcasting the stars of the original trilogy’s Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope in a fresh segment called The Verse! RE’Verse! (aka Role Re'Verse-al - we're working it out)
Long ago in a galaxy very close to here, we discovered the last nerdy person who hasn’t seen Star Wars in Emilia, and she’s well on her way to graduating from her padawan status with episode VII under her belt. Will she love or hate the highly divisive sequel trilogy? Or will she just kinda…not care? Is that even possible for a Star Wars fan?
We also introduce a new game called Role Re’Verse-al in which we return to a beloved film and recast it with a new set of phases from a particular time period, franchise, or genre. 'The Umbrella Academy' has been entertaining audiences with impending apocalypses for three seasons thanks to the amazing work of series Creator, Showrunner, EP, and Writer Steve Blackman. 'Ms. Marvel' Showrunner, Head Writer, and Executive Producer, Bisha K. Ali steps into The 'Verse! to discuss her work on the Disney+ Marvel series. We cover her origin story as a video gamer and dreamer to Hollywood writer to 'Loki' writer all the way to head writer on 'Ms. Marvel.'
Ali's work on the series has focused on telling a superhero story we can all relate to, her main character Kamala Khan is a teenager growing up in America who just happens to have superpowers. We will not put spoilers in this description, but the further the series goes on, the more it becomes about family - it is quite beautiful.
The 'Verse! Squad covers a lot with Ali, the difference between the comic books powers and the version Kamala has on the series, working with Iman Vellani, taking the series from Jersey City to Pakistan, video games, and so much more. We close with our Furious 4 questions, a lightning round with some tough choices.

The ‘Verse Squad chats with Academy Award-nominated behind ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home' Christopher Townsend,' Kelly Port, Chris Waegner, Scott Edelstein. The team had many secrets to keep as 'No Way Home' was one of the most guarded films in recent years. Their work had to recreate and emulate visual effects from films that were released as long as two decades before. The film was one of the biggest film in years and the visual effects were more than part of the fun, they were a crucial part of making this film possible at all. From the big eye-catching moments you could not miss to the finest detail you probably did not notice - this VFX team and the hundreds of artists they work with helped bring this Spider-man film swing onto screens and into fans hearts.
The ‘Verse Squad chats with Academy Award-nominated behind ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,’ Christopher Townsend, Joe Farrell, Sean Noel Walker, and Dan Oliver. This was an extra big deal for us because this was the only movie of 2021 (and 2022 so far!) that The 'Verse! gave top ratings to across the board. We know none of the elements we praised—the performances, the choreography, the story itself—would have landed without the film’s dedicated and talented visual effects team of Christopher Townsend, Joe Farrell, Sean Noel Walker, and Dan Oliver. In addition to their VFX work delivering amazing visual for viewers' eyes, it helps set the mood for each scene, adds depth to characters, and much, much more.

Simu plays Shang-Chi, a trained assassin and martial arts master trying to live his new life away from his father and the terrorist group he founded. But he’s in for the family reunion of a lifetime in an epic story of reluctant heritage, dragons, and darkness. The 'Verse! Squad sat down with the team from VFX studio MARZ (Monsters Aliens Robots Zombies) , who brought WandaVision to life. We had a great conversation with co-President Lon Molnar and CG Supervisor Anthony De Chellis , who gave us an inside look at the magic behind the popular series.
Molnar and De Chellis talked about how they started their careers, secretive on-set environment, future projects, and delved deep into the effects that really made WandaVision work. Some are obvious, and others are fine, but critical details that you’d never catch. Tune in to hear about them!

The 'Verse! Squad sat down with the one and only Henry Jackman, a composer, conductor, arranger, pianist, musician, and songwriter.
Listeners would probably know him best for his unforgettable work in the MCU, composing music for ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier,’ ‘Captain America: Civil War,’ and ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.’ As if that weren’t enough, he also scored Kick-Ass,’ ‘X-Men: First Class,’ ‘Big Hero 6,’ ‘Kong: Skull Island,’ the ‘Kingsman’ films, most recently AppleTV+'s ‘Cherry, to name a few.
We explore his career path, the MCU symphonic universe, how he develops his sound, and more. Mr. Jackman was an absolute pleasure to have on the show and he was incredibly generous with his time, even sitting down at the piano to play us through some of the superhero (and villain) themes he’s written.
