Following on our very exciting Bookmark award, a Silver pixel in the category Streaming Services, Dan and Esther discuss the development of The Brave Ideas Podcast, the journey so far and lessons learned along the way. We also say a happy farewell and ‘thanks for all the fish’ to Dan Herman in this Episode of the Brave Ideas Podcast.
Our digital world has changed the ‘music’ landscape. Right now there is a lot more music available to audiences than ever before because of digital platforms such as streaming sites and digital audio consumption channels. This has opened up a whole new world of content sharing to even the ‘smallest’ of bands and musicians. It means that there are a lot more opportunities for artists to have their music heard but it also means that the online music sphere is a messy, cluttered environment and that there is a lot more noise online that you need to push through to be heard. In this episode we discuss how music and other brands can fight for attention when the greatest challenge is to get an audience’s devotion.
Change is hard but change is constant, especially in this #agencylife. Change management is about taking an organisation from one state to another. Often the piece that is hardest in change is the 'people who are affected by it'. People are what is needed to have an organisation and get work done. How do we then manage the process with people so that our businesses' goals don't suffer as the result of change? We discuss some practical ways in which an organisation can work through the process of change in this episode of the Brave Ideas Podcast.
There are clear distinctions between the global definition of millennials and what African millennials can be defined as. In the African context there are nuances which marketers seem to be overlooking and do often miss the opportunities with, especially within this ‘millennial’ sector. We’re so used to boxing in communities in terms of demographics, as marketers, which means we end up communicating in such a way that we miss the real values which resonate with these communities. In this episode we discuss how we can identify the human truths which drive behaviour and start to create the right messages for the emerging South African market. We take a hard look at the industry to understand if we do or don’t have to essentially redesign our structures and ways of working to connect in more meaningful ways.

Artists and designers battle with the idea that they think that they own their ideas, but that their ideas are mostly references of other ideas so can they really own anything? Often originality of design, and the creativity of artists, is contested by other artists and corporations, delegitimising ideas and feeding people unoriginal outcomes. Is originality the key to success for creators (maybe it’s not) and what does originality even look like anymore?
In this episode, we talk to Mike Oelschig, Head of Strategy @ Cerebra about the importance of crisis communication on social media. At the end of last year, Aqua had the great honour of representing the continent in the first-ever Wunderman Day.

Throughout the day we virtually collaborated and connected with our fellow agencies, and shared how we do in Mzansi. We also interviewed a few of our very own Aquanauts.
