Anne Bergstedt (The Hitchcock Brunette)
In demand spinstress, broadcaster & music journalist, Anne Bergstedt, aka Hitchcock Brunette, has carved out a space for her persona the last few years. Anne is a child of the nineties and blends rap, r&b, and rock from her youth and before to tell a story in a mix and build a cinematically structured narrative while evoking a nostalgic, sonic vibe. The Art of Conversation & Djing are both an internal practice for her, an art form. She shares music & dialogue that inspires movement & provokes thought in others & as a way of communication through amplified sound & conversation.
Prior to breaking into radio broadcasting, Anne already established a successful career in the film business as an Actress, VO Artist, Director and Body Double. Anne studied Drama at The Juilliard School and Lee Strasberg in New York City, and her directorial debut film 'August' was selected for the Court Metrage competition at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival. Combining her childhood love for building mixtapes, performance, and using the voice as a vessel for communication is what led Anne to naturally carve out a path in sharing music & having conversations about music.
Anne's radio career includes FM broadcasting stations KLOS, KFAN, KLBP, SIRIUSXM channels SHADE45 + 90s on 9. She holds a long-running weekly residency at Yaamava Resort & Casino and is currently the host & producer of "Umami Radio", which airs Fridays at 6PM on Long Beach Public Radio 99.1 FM KLBP, in her chosen hometown of Long Beach, CA. Umami Radio Show is a weekly radio show that draws its inspiration from the 1990s, blending rap, rock, pop and r&b. When translated in Japanese, umami is the fifth taste and can best be described as savory, unique and earthy. Anne likes to think of her musical palette as the same. Bringing pop culture history, exclusive artist interviews, a nostalgia for the nineties, fresh cuts from today from your favorite 90s artists, and a live set to the tables - Anne serves up a fresh hour each week in the mix on KLBP 99.1 FM.

Made this mix today & I think it has such a district color and temperature to it that I can’t help but think of summer. Most of the tracks here are some of my all time most beloved favorites & I think it has a warm mood (+ beginning middle & end) that I’d like to put out into the world. 🌸 Also played with some of my fave samples that always always seem to surprise people when I drop them live. He is the frontman of Thelonious Monster and The Bicycle Thief, he has authored a memoir ‘Running with Monsters’, and has a documentary about his life titled ‘Bob and the Monster’. He currently hosts the Don’t Die Podcast and Thelonious Monster is set to tour Europe in 2021.
