A podcast about life, love and our bratty kids. 2 expat friends living in the UK who need to vent and rant about the sorry state of affairs we are currently dealing with and laugh about the stuff we've been through; both together and in our previous lives.
Warning: yet again, this week’s episode contains RuPauls Drag Race UK spoilers…sorry
D&J are reunited to have a catch up of epic proportions (not really) and discussions range from RPDR UK to learning German to Botox to the absolute failure of the Tory government here on our island.
Comment below if you want to put us to work and have us discuss something you’re interested in or something you’d like to learn more about - the more random the better.
Thanks for sticking with us friends x
D&J
D invites mini-C on for a quick chat about TikTok, and new tricks and trends in the tween market. We’re now in month 457 of lockdown and we are BORED so cut us some slack! xx
Contains Drag Race s13 spoilers so be warned :)
Well, it’s 2021 and has anything changed? We’re in lockdown, kids home-schooling and America is imploding, so the answer to that is a resounding nah.
J joins D and our guest Duchess for a nice chunk of time, is called off for a real life responsibility, then D and D proceed to inside-joke you to death. Sorry.
Endeavouring to resume recording weekly but making no promises.
Thanks for listening and glad to be back!!
D and J (and guest Ms. Duchess)
A short rant and rave about tiers, lockdown, Maradona and frivolities…enjoy and we’ll be back to our regular programming next week x
D&J
Thought I’d give you the gift of an extra episode this week…D and her 2 friends have chatted every Saturday (since COVID) and decided to record one session for the masses :)
We had a great time (as always) and look forward to you listening and letting us know what you think - how’d it go? Feel free to ask questions below and hope you enjoy this glimpse into our long-standing friendship!
Huge thanks to Stix and Big Al for letting me record them xx
J is back this week, joining in on a conversation about Christmas activities from one end of the poles to the other. Do you celebrate the 24th or 25th? Let us know. Also let us know if you find running in any way enjoyable and if so, wtf is wrong with you? Ugh
This is a low-key episode that sounds more like one of our regular phone calls so don’t expect too much drama! Let us know what you think of it in the comments x
OG J is indisposed this evening (and due to our recent self-imposed hiatus), D decided to welcome her oldest sister onto the show to blab, reminisce, laugh at familial inside jokes and have a few drinks. Discussions range from tooth picks to disused TB sanitoriums to cheese factory mayhem.
I was a little worried that listeners would find it hard to follow along (without our 38 years of history to back up our chat) but I’m assured you can get the gist of what we’re talking about. This episode is very Vancouver/Canada heavy so if you have any questions please leave them below.
As always, thank you for listening :)
D & J (no2)
Well, we tried to nonchalantly just skip by one week without recording but got called out…sorry everyone! J’s birthday took precedence but we’re back so hold on to your hats!
Today we discuss birthdays…what we hate about them, what we love about them. We will entertain you with stories of our more memorable celebrations (both fun ones and disasters) and go into minute detail of what we expect during our festivities; take note for next year please.
If you’re in the UK please consider signing the below petition to ensure children are fed during school holidays; we are obviously living in trying times and I despair to think that some parents are unable to feed their children when they’re not in school. Those in power can be the most cruel and callous but having our voices and wishes heard is all we can do as a collective: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/554276
Happy Halloween everyone, stay safe out there (in more ways than one) xx
Yours truly,
D&J
Hey hey y’all! We’re back with another episode; this week we’re discussing what we expected when we hauled ass to England and what we actually came face to face with. From accents to sandwiches to rehabilitating criminals…it’s all here. Then we devolve into nightmares, Armageddon (the brilliant masterpiece that is the movie btw), and D’s debilitating natural disaster anxiety. Fun! I’d like to personally thank J for planting the seed of waking to someone whispering your name in your ear mid-sleep.
We’d love for you to interact with us; we love our listeners and want to hear from you. Or, alternatively, let us know if you want to join us for a recording. You can remain anonymous if that’s your preference.
Love you all, talk next week xx
D&J
A more upbeat episode for our listeners this week! D is sorry she couldn’t quite get through the social media movie but watch it all the same. Or just binge Schitt’s Creek for the 3rd time…up to you.
J&D discuss the most virile old wives tales out there…from warnings of drowning babies in utero in the bathtub to straight hair woes, you’ll hear them all. Also, this is a Black Mirror stan account if you haven’t already guessed.
So swat that rogue fly and get to listening! If Kamala can put up with Mike Pence’s misogynistic bullshit this week then you can listen to us waffle on about absolute nonsense for 1.5 hours.
Kisses and hugs,
D&J
Hello hello all, welcome to our 10th episode! Today we discuss the absolute shit show that is world politics, the saying ‘step out of your comfort zone’ and how there have been some huge personal change and we discuss how we adapt to these changes and ways we have kept from having a complete and utter mental breakdown. Sound fun? Have a listen and please let us know any coping mechanism you can share with us and/or any wisdom you can provide. We also reminisce about films, Leonardo Dicaprio memes and the absolute pleasure a new Borat movie would bring to this sad, dark world.
Please watch the social dilemma before next week and we can have a discussion on it. D knows absolutely nothing about it and J has already been shocked an appalled by it so we’ll see how that goes.
Thanks for listening you gorgeous people xx
D&J
OK so….we had the pleasure of hosting our illustrious guest Stevo and want you guys to meet him too! Let him take us through his positive COVID-19 diagnosis and regale you with stories from the Middle East, many mentions of the cryptic ‘Eastern Europe’ he calls home, a portion of his life’s timeline and much, much more. We are talking him into returning for part 2 so keep your eyes (and ears) peeled for that. Any questions for us or Stevo? Post them in the comments below alongside your glowing accolades for this episode (of course). Please remember to rate and review on whatever medium you listen to this on. Don’t forget to watch Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (on D’s recommendation); you can thank me later ;)
Also, please check out HONY’s (Humans of New York) current set of posts on Miss Stephanie and consider donating to The Tanqueray Trust. Find HONY on Facebook and Instagram.
Oh, and for fucks sake, WEAR A MASK!
Kisses!
D&J
Hello lovelies, episode 8 is up where we discuss the doom and gloom of our current situations (all of our situations really) and are desperately searching for things to look forward to in the bleak landscape that is COVID-19 lockdown.
We answer a listener’s question and delve into our current dramatic situations and aimlessly discuss various thoughts, feelings and our Business Class upgrade memories!
A huge thanks for listening and supporting us, this podcast is really pivotal in our coping and dealing with the crappiness surrounding us all currently (no matter where you are or what situation you’re in). Don’t want to bring doom and gloom but sometimes its better to talk it out.
Don’t forget to visit and follow us on our various social media accounts and RATE AND REVIEW wherever you listen. Thanks x
D&J
PS - I am really trying to work with Audacity here but the jingle (thanks Dante!) might just show up randomly during our recording…deal with it please.
We’re back, back, back again!! Join us in our discussion about the Daily Fail and its lack of actual reporting on the shady happenings in the UK right now, conspiracy theories and the people who believe in them, our LOVE of the Williams/Onahian family, and J’s language barriers and the hilarity that ensues from referring to herself as ‘Jor’ (or ‘Hor’ for us English speakers). We reminisce about when Wills was actually hot and discuss how the earth fits into the universe and how the thought of it induces anxiety…the usual!
And watch Schitt’s Creek for the LOVE OF GOD! You are missing out and only have yourselves to blame.
Tata for now xx
D&J
Well, it’s finally happened, we’ve invited a guest to join us for a chat on international lockdowns, womanhood, how news/world events are being presented to other countries, and our fabulous guest’s current undertaking (alongside her husband), Land. So sit back, have a listen and we’ll prove we actually know other people and want to share their stories too!
Quick note, please follow us on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook (see links on oksorrybut.com) and we’ll also be uploading clips onto YouTube shortly (thanks Skype! Old school is always best).
Please view, follow and support Mumi and her husband’s latest endeavour on Instagram - you can find them on Instagram at @mumilin and @MartinOrozco. You can follow Mumi on Twitter @mumiduarte
Thanks again for listening and for your support. We are REALLY enjoying recording these and would appreciate any feedback, questions and/or concerns and we will take requests. If you have something to share and want to join us on one of our episodes just let us know. We’re happy to include others’ stories on this medium but we’ll never know you’re interested in joining unless you tell us. Socially distanced hugs and kisses!
D&J xx
We’re back again with chats about Hollywood remakes, our favourite shows (currently and growing up), the sorry state of affairs of THAT country and our discussion about American History X and how prevalent it still is today. The film was made 22 years ago (that took some thinking) yet things have not changed much.
Lack of swearing brought to you by the stern talking to D received on her weekly cross-Atlantic skype call!
Also, don’t forget to watch the sneak peek of Land by Martin Orozco on Instagram.
That’s all folks!
XOXO (yeah I forgot to mention Gossip Girl….watch it!)
Listen to D and J rant about the sorry state of racism, the plight of refugees, the A-Levels and GCSE fiasco (aka: Tory government failures…what a surprise!), Reggaeton (whoop whoop!!) and how we’ve changed with age.
Listen to the podcast on Apple Podcasts and Spotify (we’ve finally been accepted onto the holy grail of podcasting) and please rate and review on these apps. Also, please don’t forget to leave comments below and give us some content to discuss; especially if you’re torn on an issue you need someone to blab on about on your behalf. We’re here for you!!
Don’t forget to watch American History X before next Wednesday and join us on a discussion of the film and its relevance today. We will be discussing next week!!
D&J x
Hey listeners! We’ve braved the sub-Saharan heat wave to bring you some more content for your listening pleasure! Brace yourselves for rants against local internet providers, our favourite drinks (try them all!) and our musings on Hamilton! Work has been busy, so that’s been a huge focus for us this week but have tried to make sure we have some meaningful discussions we hope you can relate to!
Please leave comments below and provide us feedback (or kudos ~wink, wink~) on what we’re creating together. Thanks for listening and supporting. We are looking into how we can submit our podcasts onto Apple Podcasts and will keep you updated so stay tuned!!
D&J x
We’ve got a treat for you my friends! First off, our Sunday night recordings are being hampered by all of J’s neighbours watching TV and her wifi signal is questionable (hopefully better than the signal in the remote mountains of Peru…newsflash, it’s not), so we’re recording Wednesday nights now!
We answer our FIRST listener request for advice from a close friend of the podcast, our FIRST set of listener questions (that we are very grateful for), some COVID lockdown suggestions and a hell of a lot of random content for you to listen to.
Try to watch Hamilton by next week and join us to for a discussion on what we thought of it! And if you’d like us to watch other films and review them please send us your suggestions.
Mood alert! Melancholy is the mood of the week…we endeavour to bring you upbeat and exciting content but sometimes we just CBA. I’ll have a G&T next episode and try to lighten the mood x
Thanks for listening!
D and J
*Quick suggestion - I find that listening to podcasts while cleaning is optimal, but, during lockdown have started walking to a local shop/store rather than driving, and find listening to podcasts makes the walk bearable. Just make sure you’re aware of your surroundings and stay alert, of course.
J and I have found the time to have a chat and record it for your listening pleasure! You can hear about telenovelas, Tijuana, Argentina’s shady political practices and Manchester’s ‘MAJOR INCIDENT’ status…plus irrelevant discussions and promises of covering mysterious incidents in future podcasts. Enjoy!
Please feel free to email us (or contact us on our social accounts) with any feedback or suggestions you may have. Also, if you want some advice or a question answered please send us a private message (we will treat all enquiries anonymously).
My wifi was not having it and the sound quality may need work, apologies to your ears.
