What do you say when your client says “I need to leave (or pause) because of this coronavirus stuff.”
This has been an incredibly challenging time for so many people worldwide. And it has never been more important for leaders (and especially client leaders) to step up and lead.
In this episode we share how Tony, The Client Whisperer™ himself has delt with this and coached dozens of clients and friends how to as well.

What do you say when a client says “I Didn’t Have Time”?
In this What To Say Wednesday, we explore what it really means when clients “don’t have time.” Spoiler alert, it is almost never because of time.
When clients aren’t working on their homework, it is always because of one of 3 things.
They don’t believe it will help.
They didn’t fully understand what they needed to do.
They are struggling to get out of their own way.
It could be that they didn’t have time, but that would still mean that they are just struggling to make the time in their life. Or it could be an excuse for a deeper reason. Here are the questions to ask so you can determine what your client needs to keep going.
Do you have a client question that stumps you?
Is there a client query that stops you dead in your tracks?
Do you encounter a client conundrum that has you scratching your head for an answer?
If you answered yes, then ask us your question and we just might feature you on a future episode of What to Say Wednesday. Click here and fill out the form on the sidebar.

There are lots of systems consultants who can help you get efficient. We have some good friends we recommend for this all the time.
Renowned business consultant, Peter Drucker once said: “There is nothing so useless as doing efficiently what should not be done at all.”
If your program isn’t effective at creating value for clients it doesn’t matter how efficient you are.
This is the problem with most systems. Most people systematize what they’ve always done. Or they systematize what they think should be done. Rather than starting first with effectiveness.
In this episode of The Client Whisperer™ Show, Tony digs into the questions smart leaders ask themselves when they’re thinking of systematizing anything.
What absolutely has to happen for your client to get results?
Where do they run into friction in your process and need support?
How can they get over those issues so they can continue to get results?

What do you say when a client says “This just isn’t working ”?
In this What To Say Wednesday, we explore why a client wouldn’t be getting results. It is usually because of 3 things (and each one requires a very different, specific response.)

What do you say when a client says “can you make an exception?”?
NO!
Well maybe. But the answer is usually no. Why? Because the mere fact that a client is asking for an exception to be made is a really good indicator that they are pushing back against the system. In this episode of What To Say Wednesday, Tony digs into how you deal with this question and we even share some useful tools if you do decide to treat your client as an exception to the rule.

In the modern podcasting landscape, 25 episodes isn’t that much. But it has been a big accomplishment for me and our team.
On this episode of The Client Whisperer™ Show, I’m sharing 5 realizations I’ve learned by getting to this milestone.
Realization One.
Client success is so important.
I live this - but I am a victim of the curse of knowledge myself. A friend and client of ours, Dan Barret often says “we get fatigued from our message before our market does.”
Realization Two.
The temptation to overcomplicate is strong.
Listen. My vision is huge. This means I see things as they can be with all of the detail and glory that is involved. But when I’m starting out, it is important to keep it simple. This is where I’ve given up at podcasting before. This time, my only responsibility was to show up and record every week, slowly adding in new components over time.
Realization Three.
Systems are critical.
When I was starting I actually did everything myself. I wanted to learn the ins and outs and from recording my own audiobook years ago, I had all of the equipment and audio editing expertise necessary to make it happen. After a few though, I got tired of doing all of the tedious parts. In fact, editing the interviews was downright painful for me. So we created clear procedures and now my team is up and running to make everything work. All I need to do is record the episodes and hand off the recording and show notes and I know they’ll take care of the rest.
Realization Four.
Preparation is everything.
As we record this, I actually have 20 more episode topics identified, and 12 more episodes completely recorded. I’ve found that I need time to let topics percolate in my mind. Because of this, we have monthly content planning meetings where we take data of what content has resonated in the past and what we’re hearing that our tribe needs. Then I go to work outlining so by the time I’m ready to record I have a few episodes all ready to go. It is the only way we can do multiple episodes a week and stay sane.
Realization Five.
Perfection is a distraction.
I’m a recovering perfectionist. For me, part of that grand vision comes an awareness of what is possible. And when I compare what is against my vision it is easy to get depressed. Instead, I try to ignore the comparisons altogether and focus on making valuable content and continuing to make a difference in our clients’ businesses and lives. When I do compare, I make sure to do it backward. How did what we made this week compare to last week, last month, or last year.

What do you say to a client who says, “I’m sure process works for other clients, but I’m different.”
This is tricky territory because they might be. But the risk of you letting them onto a totally new pathway is a high one. And most of the time when clients say they’re different, what they are really saying is that they aren’t willing or ready. On this What to Say Wednesday, we look at how to tell if a client really is different, and what to say to them so they can get on the right path for their success.
