In this episode, I interviewed Syrus Marcus Ware, a Black, trans, disabled, MAD, queer artist and activist. He is a visual artist, performance artist, and a core member of Black Lives Matter Toronto. Together, we discuss defunding the police and prison abolition, their work in responding to COVID-19, the connection between Disability Justice and Black Liberation, and parenting as a Black disabled trans artist.

I met with Kou to discuss creating art while managing chronic illness and pain, what financial access means for disabled artists, and the relationship disabled artists have with care and community.

In this episode, I interviewed Justin Many Fingers, who at the time was the artistic director of Making Treaty 7 Cultural Society, an Indigenous theatre organization. Justin is a Queer, Indigenous, disabled, and MAD artist trained in acting, singing, and dancing in both Western and Indigenous constructs. We sat down to discuss learning to claim our identities, dealing with tokenization, and what an Indigenous arts culture means.
