Theo and Will reveal the reality of post-WWI Germany: not of a middling democracy, but a deeply confused nation torn apart by the first modern ideological conflict. In the ruins of a Prussian state, liberal democracy, fascism, and communism battled for dominance. The result was tragedy.

For the first of our unedited, unscripted lockdown debates, Peter, Max, Will, and Theo discuss what they'd do if, by some freak accident, they ruled the world (a la 'Game of Drones' from 2019).

There's headlight missiles, leaky water bottles and $14 trillion in Poorly Informed's plans for global domination.

Let us know your thoughts on social media at @podcastpoorly!

As always, enjoy and have a very Merry Christmas!

This time Will covers anarchism in a serious, succinct and well-researched new episode for our occasional 'Slightly More Informed' series. Here he explains how we misunderstand the ideology of anarchism, and that true anarchists are more likely to be found in soup kitchens than riots. In particular, he discusses why societies should be anarchist instead of democratic capitalist; how anarchist societies would work; and what does anarchism looks like in day-to-day life. No longer will you think of anarchists as molotov-throwing radicals who want to tear down the system. As always, enjoy.   Recommended further reading: 'On Anarchism' - Noam Chomsky 'The Conquest of Bread' - Peter Kropotkin A transcript of this episode can be found at our blog here. In one of the most interesting and chaotic Poorly Informed debates since the early days, Peter, Will, Max and Theo have a classic Prime Ministers' ranking fight. After Thatcher's economic liberalisation in the 1980s, Prime Ministers would never govern the same way again. So we decided to look at the four longest-serving post-1979 PMs: Margaret Thatcher, John Major, Tony Blair and David Cameron/Nick Clegg. There's also some illegal currency exchange on air, and Theo makes a £200 bet that he's hoping Will's forgotten about. Enjoy.   (And take the debate further at https://thepoorlyinformedblog.blogspot.com/, where we've written a short guide to every post-war Prime Minister!)   Insta/Twitter: @podcastpoorly Email: poorlyinformeddiscussion@gmail.com

The Poorly Informed Podcast is back. We're better and bigger than ever before, with fresh new content, some cracking debates and a great new theme tune (excellently produced by James Roberts). You listened to Season 1 almost 2,000 times, and we want to keep building upon that growth. Thank you for taking the time to tune in. For our first episode, the Right Honourable Sir John Redwood (MP for Wokingham) is the star guest. An MP for 32 years, he has seen 7 Prime Ministers occupy No.10, and has become a leading figure in the anti-EU 'European Research Group'. We're quite impressed he was willing to talk to us. The topic he chose? 'The end of austerity'. (The conversation with Mr Redwood starts at 4 minutes, but we recommend you listen to the extended introduction.) For the second part of this two-part series, Theo, Max, Will and Peter debate a resurgent issue: the merits of capitalism versus the merits of socialism. Big questions lie ahead: which economic system is better?; which model benefits the people more?; and who of us might actually be telling a truth? With our usual regard for fact and precision, Poorly Informed tackle one of the enduring questions of modern history, and nearly make it entertaining. Enjoy. Instagram/Twitter: @podcastpoorly
