The Vinyl Loft: Recent Episodes

The Vinyl Loft

We spin over 7 decades of music on a format that refuses to die. As a long time record collector I’ve enjoyed a lot of music and have amassed quite a vinyl collection over the years. As the vinyl craze or rebirth has taken hold it’s been great to pick up newer releases and quality reissues to share with my listeners. But collecting classic original releases and discovering new used record shops will always be my passion. “Like” us on Facebook and “follow” us on Instagram. You can also find our full show archive on Mixcloud.

On this special edition of The Vinyl Loft we pay tribute to the late drummer of the Foo Fighter Taylor Hawkins.

We'll spin some of their greatest hits including music from some of the great drummers who were influences on him, including tracks from Queen, The Police, and of course Genesis. Taylor called the Seconds Out LP his drumming bible. It's fitting to as we record this weeks show following the final show of the Genesis farewell tour The Last Domino? at the London O2 Arena.

Also on the show we spin brand new music from Lindsey Buckingham and a classic cut from Brian May's Back to the Light album which was recently reissued on vinyl as well as cuts off of some Italian imports of albums by The Beatles, Eagles, Aerosmith and even Boston.

(You might even hear something from Wil Robinson himself Bill Mumy.)

Hope you enjoy the show and please share it with others and don't forget to check us out on Facebook, Instagram and of course visit us at the Vermont Antique Mall booths 507 & 520.

We're back with new vinyl releases from Liz Phair, Icon For Hire, Blackmore's Night and the surprise of the year thus far "Rock Believer" from The Scorpions.

This is a special show (kinda) as we play a couple of tracks off a lost minidisc full of vinyl dubs featuring singles we no longer own. We had to go out and purchase a special Minidisc DATA machine to play the disc.

We also dig into the ever growing pile of vintage vinyl finds including a quad lp from J. Geils Band, Stackridge, Genesis and an obscure late 60s garage band from Long Island who called themselves The Hassles.

On this week's show we celebrate the cassette tape with an entire program of music played off this much maligned audio format.

We hope to make mix tapes great again with a wide range of music from rock and pop to alternative and hair metal. (With some Stryper thrown in for good measure!!!)

Yes this show is packed with extra wow & flutter!!!

You'll be amazed at how decent cassettes can sound when played on a quality deck and a little post-production audio processing to boot.

(Many of the tapes heard on this week's show will be available to purchase in our booth at the Vermont Antique Mall.)

It took nearly 20 years but we finally got our good friend Michael Troy on the phone to record an interview for our show. Micheal along with his new band Captain Fantastic will be appearing at the Tupelo Music Hall "Drive-in Experience" in Derry, NH on June 19th so what better reason to do a nearly all Elton John show? This weeks playlist isn't for the casual Elton listener there's lots of deep and rare cuts on the program. Plus we premiere NEW (work in progress) music from The Beloved Few along with a track from Michael's son's band Aurora Takeover.
