Pawel was born and raised in Poland, where he developed a passion for IT engineering. He spent over 25 years working in the field, specializing in datacenters and cloud solutions.

With four years of appreciation and forced appreciation, he sold the primary residence and leveraged the returns to purchase seven rental units and another primary residence. Within the next two years, he managed to grow his portfolio to nearly 20 units in the Ontario and Alberta markets.

They own a thriving construction company in Stouffville called Hawkins Contracting and are addicted to real estate. Their real estate portfolio currently contains a mix of student rentals in Guelph and Peterborough and duplexes and triplexes in Lindsay, Peterborough and Hamilton. They love digging into the numbers, are skilled in managing large renovations and like most busy investors, are constantly searching for the highest and best use of their time. Recently, they have settled into a pattern of purchasing tired bungalows for duplex/triplex conversions, sometimes with garage conversions to garden suites and larger student rentals. They are about to get started on two newly built garden suites in Peterborough and have multiple projects on the go and are always on the look for their next deal. Matt and Laura self-manage almost all of their properties (with the help of some key contacts!) and love to connect with other investors and talk all things real estate. Matt and Laura have 3 young kids, who love to stay active and be outdoors and mountain bike at any chance they can get!

Daniel started working in construction at an early age. Working in landscaping young, taught him to work hard and persevere through difficult challenges. The year after completing his undergraduate degree, the sale of his parent's company fell through, and he was presented with the opportunity to purchase the company with his brother-in-law.
Daniel and his brother-in-law were presented with some immediate challenges with the business. Several divisions were identified as operating at a loss, and increasing industry pressure in snow plowing/removal made this an increasingly challenging endeavour. Looking for potential solutions, Daniel discovered the potential in interior construction and real estate investing. In 2018, they invested in several duplex conversions to start training their team in the process of interior renovations. By 2022, they grew their real estate company enough to divest the poorly performing divisions and permanently get out of the snow industry. In 2024, Daniel is a licensed builder focusing on building his business around the new opportunities presented by policy changes encouraging intensification in existing neighbourhoods. Daniel’s Business, North Lakes Developments & Construction builds properties for themselves, Joint Venture partners, and clients. Daniel continues to live in one of the apartments he constructed to this day, allowing him to keep his costs down to re-invest into the company and to achieve financial freedom at an early age.

Taylor and Jeremy purchased their first real estate property in 2017 and have since transitioned into full time real estate investors, property managements and real estate coaches.

Taylor has been working part-time at Community Living and was in school at King’s College at Western University for her undergraduate degree in Psychology and Childhood and Social Institutions. Jeremy was doing his electrical apprenticeship throughout this time with London Electric. Since becoming a licensed electrician, Jeremy has transitioned into working on real estate full time in Chatham to focus on managing the renovations. In a short amount of time, Taylor and Jeremy have used multiple strategies such as the BRRRR method, sole ownership long-term buy and holds, joint ventures and private money.

At the age of 15 Darcy was first introduced to the world of real estate investing. years later he still finds great pleasure in locating great properties and bringing out their true potential. Originally a computer professional by trade, Darcy has over 30 years of project management experience.
The first 14 years of his professional life he was involved with managing the installation of computer accounting software for mid size companies. Self employed, he spent 1996 to 2001 living and working in South America – specifically in Venezuela, Mexico, Colombia and Brasil. It was in Caracas, Venezuela that Darcy met the love of his life, Sandra. Caracas is also the birthplace of the couple’s three children.
Returning to Canada in 2001, Darcy switched gears from computers to investing full time in real estate. Starting with fix and flips he then moved to building infills and from there to land development and new home construction. Garnering the best of what he has learned from all of these disciplines, in the past several years Darcy has re-focused his energies back to fixing up neglected properties. However, instead of flipping the properties once renovated, the goal now is to maximize profits through holding on to the properties long term as rentals.
Over the past 17 years Darcy has owned 92 individual properties. These properties had 236 ‘doors’ or units worth over $44 million.
Darcy’s skill set includes expertise in accounting, negotiating, real estate law, project management, marketing and financing. Darcy is honest, hard working, a leader, good natured with a high level of integrity.
Outside of work Darcy enjoys spending as much time as he can with his wife and now grown kids. Hobbies include hiking in the Rocky Mountains and travel. Aside from the 5 years spent in South America other travel highlights include a trip to Greece & Italy, a Baltic cruise and time in the Caribbean. In January 2007 for his 40th birthday Darcy went to Tanzania and climbed to the top of Mt Kilimanjaro at just shy of 20,000 feet high.

As a thriving young individual in her early 20’s, Cindy Wennerstrom was ready to move out of her family home but knew renting wasn’t for her. Buying was in her blood. At 24, she had purchased her first investment property and home in Sudbury, ON where she legalized it into a duplex and rented rooms in the largest unit to students while she lived upstairs. Using the income, she paid for her masters degree and became "school-debt-free" within 6 months of graduating! (BA in Law and Justice in 1995 and an MBA in 1998).
When a career opportunity relocated her to downtown Toronto a few years later, the game was on for her to begin looking for a rental unit for the first time. However, like most of us, she had trouble finding a decent place that would accept her aging cat. Eventually she did and within a little over a year she bought again… and then again…. Upgrading from a condo to a real "bricks and mortar”, the second home was a perfect opportunity for a basement tenant allowing her to landlord yet again. These past rental and landlording experiences set the bar for the eventual inception of Oro Properties.
In 2010, after building her own investment portfolio, Cindy formed Oro Properties, a boutique real estate investment firm in the Greater Toronto Area where Cindy offers general consulting to anyone wanting to become a real estate investor or who needs advice renovating to maximize cashflow. Cindy immediately realized her investor clients had a spin-off requirement: finding gold standard, reliable tenants. Oro Properties’ Tenant Find Services Division was born, initially with a focus on Toronto and later expanding to SE Mississauga & downtown Brampton.
Fulfilling the promise to herself—and her cat—the company will only represent rentals that are smoke-free, lovingly maintained and for the most part, pet-friendly!

Today we have Savio Almeida joining us and he’s going to be talking to us about Detroit Fix-and-flips, U.S. buy-and-holds After immigrating to Canada in 2013 via 51 countries, Savio couldn’t find a job that replaced the income from the one he left.
Coming from an entrepreneurial family Savio decided that it was time he "started his own thing”. After initially wasting 6 months talking to franchisors, he started Oakville Butler and Office Boys a residential and commercial cleaning company. The plan was to scale up quickly by hiring the best people and having systems in place. 3yrs later whilst he was scrubbing the toilet of one his clients' homes because nobody showed up to work, Savio realized that something had to change. Luckily for him, Tony Robbins was in town along with Pitbull and a host of others at the Real Estate Wealth Expo and the rest, as they say, is history.
Fast forward 2 years and Savio is a full-time real estate investor with a niche of his own. As far as we are aware, he is the only Canadian, investing in Detroit whilst still living in Canada. He has helped other investors maximize their returns by taking out the physical risk of investing in Detroit and wants the audience to know if he can do it - so can they!

Debbie Gilbert was born and raised in Barrie. Her career has been varied including running her own business, owning and operating a franchise, Executive Director of a local charity and working senior administrative positions in education and family mental health. She believes all her work and life experience has brought her to her current career as a Real Estate Entrepreneur.

She remains a full-time investor who self-manages the properties in her portfolio which consist of several duplexes and student rentals in Barrie and Orillia.
