“I am really looking forward to racing at the Goodwood Revival and my first race at this historic track,” says David. “It holds a special place for the Brabham family as my father, two brothers and I all had our very first UK race car tests at this iconic track. I have heard so much about the event from my racing friends and I knew, when my schedule allowed, I should come and compete.
“It’s great to finally have that chance. I have not driven the Alfa Romeo Gulietta Ti before, but I am sure it will be a lot of fun.”

British Touring Car Championship star, Sam Tordoff (Leeds) will be taking a trip back in time when he swaps his high powered 2014 BTCC MG for a 1958 Standard Pennant when he competes in the prestigious St Mary’s Trophy at this year’s Goodwood Revival.
Sam has been invited by the car owners, Graham Robson and Hilton Persaud, to race the car at Goodwood Revival which has become the mainstay event for those with a passion for all things vintage racing. As Sam explains, it has been a quick turnaround for the little car to become race worthy
British Touring Car Champion Andrew Jordan will make his Goodwood Revival return this year at the wheel of an Austin A40 that he will share with his father Mike.
The Jordan family’s Eurotech organisation has spent the past year converting a period road car to 1958 race specification and will contest the St Mary’s Trophy, which is being run for touring cars of the 1950s during the 12-14 September event.
The car was shaken down this week and will test at the ultra-quick Goodwood Motor Circuit on 3 March with both Andrew and Mike taking a turn behind the wheel.
Andrew made his Goodwood Revival debut in 2012 at the wheel of a Morris Minor in the St Mary’s Trophy while Mike – a race winner in the BTCC and a former British GT champion – first appeared at the West Sussex event last year, taking pole position for the Whitsun Trophy for Ford GT40s.
Warwickshire's top racing driver Mat Jackson will star in the world's most prestigious historic motor sport event - the Goodwood Revival meeting - this weekend September 15th & 16th. British Touring Car ace Mat will continue his driving partnership with revered 1960s racing team boss the late Alan Mann's son Henry, this time in an Alan Mann Racing Ford Prefect 107E from 1959. Mat from Henley in Arden will race the car on Saturday in the St Mary's Trophy event with Henry taking the wheel on Sunday. The two race results with then be added to find an outright winner at the star-studded event at the legendary Goodwood track in West Sussex which attracts some 100,000 visitors each year.
Former World Touring Car champion Rob Huff will break new ground at the Goodwood Revival as he becomes the first current professional racer to take part in the Goodwood Trophy.
Huff, 34, will drive Richard Last’s Parnell-MG, which contested the 1938 Donington Grand Prix, in the race for pre-1950 Formula Libre machinery. Among the 2012 WTCC champion’s rivals will be Alfa Romeos formerly raced by Raymond Sommer and Achille Varzi and ERAs once campaigned by Prince Bira and Dick Seaman.
His St Mary’s Trophy machine will be an Austin Westminster in the same specification as the car taken to the inaugural British Touring Car Championship crown by Jack Sears in 1958. He will contest part one of the event on Saturday.
The Westminster will be campaigned by Nick Naismith in part two of the event for 1950s production saloons on Sunday, with Huff aiming to go one better than in 2012, when he and Desmond Smail were second overall in an Austin A40 – Huff having won his part of the contest after an entertaining battle with Anthony Reid’s Jaguar.
Supermarket giant Tesco has recreated a Sixties-style branch for this weekend's Goodwood Revival historic motor race meeting. Customers will be able to walk up and down three aisles and browse shelves containing dozens of products from the era. Even the check-out assistants will be dressed in vintage uniforms, with hair and make-up styled in the fashion of the area.

Harris on the hill!
Honda Yuasa Racing will be blasting its BTCC champion machinery up the infamous Goodwood hill over this Festival of Speed weekend, but one of its team members is in for a truly unforgettable experience.
Along with overseeing both Matt Neal and Gordon Shedden’s runs, Richard Tait-Harris - Marketing and Sponsorship guru at Team Dynamics - will be running up the hill twice each day in a famous family sidecar.
Richard’s uncle, Pip Harris, was a British sidecar champion who was well known for racing at the Isle of Man TT and circuits across Europe from the 1940s through to 1974.
Pip unfortunately passed away at the age of 85 earlier this year and his son, along with nephew Richard, will be reunited with one of his classic BMW machines.
The duo have already shaken down the sidecar in illustrious company this week as they shared the same tarmac as former F1 World Champion Nelson Piquet – himself testing one of his old cars ahead of a run up the Goodwood hill.
With little recent experience of riding added to the fact that the Goodwood FoS is such a huge event, Richard admitted to being a little nervous ahead of his bow, but everyone at BTCC wishes him all the best!

Michelin will host the Supercar Paddock at the Goodwood Festival of Speed for the second year in succession, teaming up with former British Touring Car Champion Tim Harvey at the UK’s flagship motorsport event.
The 2013 event marks 20 years of the Festival of Speed, which Michelin will help celebrate by bringing its supercar and motorsport heritage to life with two exhibition sites, one in the Supercar Paddock and one in the main arena, at the festival. The stands will showcase some of Michelin’s milestones over the years both on the track and on the road.
Harvey will welcome superstar cars and drivers on to the Michelin Supercar Paddock stand for interviews and to display some of the most impressive and exciting cars at the festival.

Goodwood is honouring the 50th anniversary of one of the world’s most versatile and popular sports cars – the Porsche 911 – at the Festival of Speed 2013.
Goodwood will be in celebratory mode as it marks a number of important automotive and motor sport anniversaries and key moments at the 2013 Festival of Speed (11-14 July), in addition to the 20th anniversary of the event itself.
The Goodwood Festival of Speed’s unique ability to attract the top works F1 teams is one of its key strengths, and already seven current teams have confirmed their intention to attend this year’s 20th anniversary Festival (11-14 July).
Nowhere else in the world can motor sport enthusiasts get so close to the latest and greatest cars and drivers. Seven current 2013-season F1 teams are now confirmed to appear at Goodwood this year; McLaren, Ferrari, Red Bull, Mercedes, Lotus, Caterham and Marussia.
The attendance of a handful of this season’s top F1 drivers are now confirmed for Goodwood too, including Festival of Speed regular Jenson Button, as well as Mercedes drivers Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg. More leading F1 drivers will also be confirmed over the coming weeks, and Festival fans will be able see many current and past F1 masters in action, with the unique possibility to get up close to them.
Recent Grand Prix drivers at the event have included Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull Racing team mate Mark Webber, and also look out at Goodwood for familiar F1 faces such as Sir Jackie Stewart, Alain Prost, Martin Brundle, Nigel Mansell, Damon Hill, Emerson Fittipaldi, Jacky Ickx, Murray Walker, Bruno Senna, Ron Dennis, Patrick Head, Ross Brawn, Christian Horner and Adrian Newey, all of whom have attended the Festival in recent years, with many expected to return this year.
The annual Goodwood Festival of Speed’s vast array of famous motorcycles and worldclass riders has long been an integral part of the event for all motor sport enthusiasts.
The breadth and variety of bikes at this year’s 20th anniversary Festival of Speed (11-14 July) will make it especially difficult for all racing motorcycle fans to resist as a number of hugely significant and memorable motorcycles, sidecars and riders return to Goodwood.
Star bikes already confirmed for Goodwood include the ex-Barry Sheene Suzuki XR14 RG500 (the very bike that took Sheene to his first ever GP win), the John Surtees Norton F-type prototype, ex-Valentino Rossi Ducati GP11, ex-Kevin Schwantz Suzuki RGV500 and ex-Steve Webster LCR-Yamaha 500 sidecar combination.
The amazing 450bhp Turbine bike will be making a welcome return to Goodwood, and expect to see the monstrous 1500bhp Top Fuel drag bike, ridden by six-time and reigning European Top Fuel Champion Ian King, as well as the Honda RC149 and NSR500 from Honda’s Collection Hall. The attendance of World Superbike teams from Aprilia, BMW, Honda, Suzuki and the works Norton TT squad are also confirmed.

Former British Touring Car Championship ace Anthony Reid brought the house down at the 2012 Goodwood Festival of Speed after recording the fastest time of the day. In a change from previous Festivals, this year’s running saw more than 45 cars vie to take part in the top 20 ‘shoot-out’ finale. David Tetley’s fearsome ‘Stars ’n’ Stripes’ Opel Manta V8 kicked things off, recording a time of 57.34sec, the times tumbling until Rod Millen’s Pikes Peak Toyota had an ‘off’ following a grassy moment exiting Molecomb. The Kiwi emerged unscathed, and even managed a smile, but his ‘truck’ had bent front suspension and bodywork damage.
Following the restart, a psyched-up Reid blasted his Chevron GT3 racer up the hillclimb course in a staggering 46.46sec, the Scot reaching 131mph on his run. He narrowly edged out the favourite Gary Ward, who streaked up the hill in 46.80sec aboard his Leyton House-Judd CG901B Grand Prix car. However, fastest man in terms of outright speed was Group C Jaguar XJR8/9 driver Justin Law who recorded a belief-beggaring 142mph across the line. This year's Goodwood Festival of Speed sees Renault following its substantial 2012 appearance with a celebration of its highly successful, 35-year long commitment to Formula 1, the revival of the famous Alpine sports car brand and the showcasing of an exciting array of new road cars, including two yet-to-be-seen concept models. The event will be held from July 11 to 14 in the grounds of Goodwood House, 60 miles south of London.
Landmark vehicles from Renault's sporting heritage include the 1978 RS01 that was the first turbo F1 car, the sensational 1978 Le Mans-winning Alpine A442B, the stylish 1977 Groupe 5 Alpine A310 rally car, the enormous and extraordinary-looking 1926 Renault 40CV 'des records', a 1902 Renault Type K that was one of the world's earliest racing cars, and the dramatic Renault 5 Maxi Turbo of 1984.
Making their UK debut at Goodwood, and guaranteed to draw crowds, will be two new sports concept cars, one of which will be 100 per cent electric. Besides these surprises Renault's main Goodwood stand will showcase the four examples of Renault RS27-powered F1 cars from the 2013 championship, including the race-winning Lotus E21, the Red Bull RB9, the Caterham CT03 and the Williams FW35, as well as an array of exciting new road cars. These include the much-anticipated Clio Renaultsport 200 Turbo EDC, the handsome new Renault Captur crossover and the stylish Renault ZOE.
Now in its sixth year, BRDC SuperStars is well established as a programme which any serious young British driver aspires to be part of. As the scheme only selects the very brightest prospects, competition for places is tough and keenly fought.
The SuperStars are supported with training programmes which the on-track results of the last two years suggest, do help give those taking part a competitive edge. SuperStars compete across the different disciplines from single seaters to prototypes, touring cars to GTs. Indeed, it is an important part of the scheme’s ethos to ensure that those who benefit from the support go on to be successful across all disciplines of motor sport and not simply in racing cars. The Club very much wants to play its part in nurturing talent across the board in order to ensure that British drivers remain at the fore, both nationally and internationally, in years to come.
In addition to access to the Club and the opportunities for networking with the Members, the SuperStars will receive direct assistance with all aspects of professional motor sport. This will include help with physical and mental training, career guidance, team building skills, sponsorship advice, media and sales training, PR and marketing, motor sport seminars and workshops with BRDC Members. They will also gain significant benefit of media coverage that the BRDC SuperStars programme itself generates. Indeed, the Club’s endorsement of each young driver’s status as one of the very brightest prospects in motor sport is undoubted but hard to put a value on.
The SuperStars programme helps to strengthen links between young drivers and the Club, as well as reinforcing the relevance of the BRDC to the wider motor sport community. I look forward to a successful and helpful year with the 2013 BRDC SuperStars drivers.
