he got a discount! And as you'll hear in this episode, he can't stop talking about it. In fact, while Jenn posts all this blah de blah, his nose is back in it.
In other news, if you're one of our listeners in India, we need to know if people there sometimes sleep on the roof. I don't think so, but somehow somewhere, Dillon has heard this to be true. Our final news is that Dillon and Daddy worked on creating him a Ravenclaw Easter Bonnet, and I must say, it's looking very spiffy.
Dillon got a new wand. It's the Bellatrix Le Strange wand. This has prompted a well-deserved Ode to Helena Bonham Carter... and many more. A special shout out to Stephen Fry whose Harry Potter audiobooks are outstanding. (We also still love Evanna Lynch as Luna Lovegood, just saying'.)
It's Jenn's birthday weekend! Dillon partied hard last night at the school disco so is going sllllloooooooooow.

oh boy oh boy, a few friends have given Dillon some very thoughtful gifts. We're quite obsessed with a new spyglass and a pencil case. Dillon wants me to mention that there is a snitch in the house now too! And some new books, games and a glider! And this is just the beginning of birthday weekend. We feel surrounded by love. xxxxx
Happy Friday! We don't usually record on a Friday but Dillon happened upon Mummy doing some work so off we went, despite the tiredness! Oy! Exhaustion! Dillon's tuckered out from his first full week of school! And it's his birthday weekend! Which reminded Mummy of when all he would do was sleep... which then reminded Mummy of how tired she's been... I think it's a fair shout to say Daddy's tired too... Is anyone well rested anymore?

The final young boy cousin. We've gone from Boston to Minneapolis and finally arrived in Dublin to speak with Gil. Dillon and Jenn find Gil at home with his mummy, his big sister and Mosi the dog. Guess who starts talking about how he wants a dog?

Starting with a sidetone, Dillon's typing club was great today! But more to the point, his quest for a camera continues. Jenn and Daddy have found three cameras from 'the old days,' as Dillon calls our not-so-distant youth. He chose the Sony Cybershot.... but can Daddy find the charger for that 7.2 pixel gem bought in 2002? More to come....
Though we live in the UK, it's Dillon's first school uniform! We managed to find the most US school this whole time. So when this massive box with fancy shorts and shirts and an amazing rucksack (that's a backpack in American!) arrived today - it was very exciting! Also, there's been some thievery and cheating happening here in South London.... seems Mommy and Daddy are up to no good. Dillon also talks about which letters he's learned in his typing course! A lot happening for a holiday!

It's the Easter Holidays and Jenn and Dillon have been mucking about doing not much but getting hungry doing it! They basically recorded this podcast in an effort to distract themselves from how hungry they were. You'll be happy to know Daddy served up a delicious pasta when it was over.
Dillon's last day at his primary school, where he's been since he was 4 years old. The only school Jenn has ever been a parent at! He starts his new school after the holiday period. So many emotions. But change is usually good.... although Dillon touches on the sort of change that isn't good. On a different note, why Batman is better than Superman. It's the birthday of a really special person in our lives! Hooray for birthdays! Also, Dillon has decided it's Weird Day. As per usual, we don't describe it terribly well, but basically, we just keep trying to be a little weird. It's not too hard for us.

It's birthday weekend! And we got a new computer! We did a test of its sound in the kitchen, and here it is! Birthday weekend and the END of Homeschooling! What could be better?

Four more days of homeschooling. Dillon and Jenn talk about how annoying they are to each other with homeschooling. They theorise on why things get lost and then they play a little word association. It's almost the end of this Season, as Dillon will soon be back in school.

Dillon has packed. Guess what arrived today? His Luna Lovegood glasses! SEVEN more days of homeschool! (and Jenn's birthday is one of them so we may have a light day that day...)
This is from last night, but the server was down (much like we are down with the homeschooling) so we couldn't post. So we post it now, as a collective cry from parents and children flies into the ether and homeschooling begins again. Plus: all colours are for all people. End of sentence. Have we already talked about that? Worth discussing twice.
Dillon tries to convince Jenn to let him watch (or is it read?) the Harley Quinn comics. Jenn thinks they're inappropriate for a 7-year old. Feel free to weigh in!
Dillon has a pull-up bar and as of yesterday he can flip around on it. He bought it himself by working really hard at maths (which is the same thing as... math).

Dillon plays part of a favorite song. They reminisce on a New York taxi ride (which started at the Staten Island Ferry), when Jenn got very angry. Which is interesting because yesterday, Dillon got very very very very angry at the dentist. The lesson is that when you're angry, it's often a good idea not to talk to the person you're really angry at until you're done being angry. And also, to let NY taxi drivers know you're not tourists. Dillon now pauses whenever he needs to... you know. And sadly, half term is half done.

Dillon reads a snippet from David Walliams' The World's Worst Children 3. Was it a good day? Was it a bad day? It was a Monday and the snow gently fell over us in South London while we tried to learn something about anything.
Dillon has a tummy ache. He's had one for a couple weeks now. When it had a fever with it, Dillon and Jenn got Covid tested. Negative. No fever, but still with the tummy ache. Jenn thinks it could be the dark side of lockdown getting to him... but then he perks up. Guess what makes him perk up? You'll never guess...
Seriously. Dillon and Jenn love it so much. They hope that Ms. Kamilla Benko will listen and know that her book series has given them so much joy. Seriously, Ms. Benko, it has provided hours and hours and hours of interest and engagement. The trilogy are the most read books in our home, even more than Harry Potter and David Walliams! Our listeners will love it too! It's soooooo good. There are no spoilers in here. Dillon tells you where it can be scary at times and Dillon remembers what it means to be brave.
In home learning today, Dillon had a music lesson. It was all about the big orchestras used to do the music in certain animations. Like, 80-100 musicians! This led him and his Mom to talk about the Pink Panther. Enjoy!

We managed to record while it was still light out. It gets dark pretty early here in London, so that was amazing. But then we fell asleep recording our own podcast. More importantly, everyone's entitled to their own opinion (but we still wish Daddy would watch the TV show we like.)
It's Monday and back to what we now know is referred to as 'distance learning' instead of homeschooling. (Probably because if any actual homeschoolers examined what was passing as teaching here, they would be offended.) Find out why Jenn hid from Dillon. It's Day 3 of homeschooling in London. Dillon and his mum set out to discuss one thing, but when Jenn mentions that her tiredness comes not only from homeschooling and working, but also from the events of last night, the conversation turns to how to be a good loser.
You know how sometimes you think you've made a 'mistake' and you feel really upset? That happened today. During some very important Spiderman artwork. But sometimes mistakes aren't really mistakes. Also, Dillon really just wants to say one word and one word only.
On this first day of Homeschooling London 2.0, Dillon and his Mum talk imperfectly about potions. In fact, even though we planned to talk about potions and we tell you we're going to talk about potions and we put 'potions' in the title, we do not talk about potions. So don't look forward to talk of potions. Here's the thing: you get what you get and you don't get upset. Sometimes it says it's gonna be one thing, but it's another.
Dillon and Jenn discover they both have a fear of heights. They almost make up a story about jewellery monster and kind of tell a joke. It was also a homeschooling trial run, and, unrelated yet related, Jenn had to ask someone to please wear a mask.
Shelter! That's the word we try to remember! Moss is a sprocker. We talk a little about lockdown pets, and a little about the schedule we made for homeschooling that will probably end up ignored. We also talk about how Dillon got Alexa. Then we attempt a story for a friend, which may have something to it... but we're interrupted and must vacate the room in the room.
