The ministers in the first great awakening formed a theology about God's presence. They acknowledged the "Essential Presence" of God: the idea that God is everywhere. He is always with us. They taught about the "Cultivated Presence" of God: the idea that we grow and walk with the Lord after we receive Him in our hearts. Lastly they talked about the "Manifest Presence" of God: this was to describe the dramatic manifestations that were common in this early revival. Is it possible to move into a place where we see Manifestations of God's Glory on a more frequent basis? I believe this is what Paul expresses in our message today.

Jesus said that it was given to us to know the Mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven (Matt 13:11). What are these mysteries? Paul touches on this topic in our text.

John the Baptist was sitting in prison and began to question the validity of the entire ministry of Jesus. We all have moments of doubt, discouragement and even unbelief. Jesus sent a word back to John that can help us in our time of need.

Joel 2 details the greatest revival in human history. Peter quoted this chapter on the day of Pentecost when they were experiencing the initial outpouring. What Joel prophesied was not a one time event, but something that would increase all the way through the coming of Christ and into the Millenial Reign.
Pastor Jakob talks about how Revival is more than just a spiritual awakening. Revival impacts the physical as well as the spiritual. It brings healing and refreshing to the land. It blesses the nations of the earth, not just a local church body.
The disciples were astonished when Jesus cursed a fig tree and the fig tree withered. Jesus gently rebuked them for their lack of faith in God. What would have been really astonishing is if Jesus had spoken a word that was not fulfilled. Their faith was misplaced.
This message will serve as a simple examination of our faith.
In Joel's day there was a plague that had stripped the nation of every luxery, hindered worship, and threatened life essentials. Joel said the plague could continue to have its effect, or turn for the greatest revival in history.
