Back by popular demand, G finally tracked down the world-famous Watts Occurring ambassador Laurens de Plus and gave him a call to see how he’s been getting on since his horrible crash on day one of the Vuelta. The ‘Carrot of Ninove’ has already started his rehab programme and – of course – has been keeping a very close eye on the Vuelta. He’s here to give G a morale boost ahead of a gruelling final week in Spain, while G’s keen to keep battling on. Can INEOS win another stage in the last week? We shall see. It's rest day in Spain and we've got an upbeat(ish) G on the massage table. Things can only get better right? He's been battling crosswinds and climbs but his hopes are higher as the Vuelta heads into the second week. Luke's loving life at the Tour of Britain and hoping to plot a course towards victory for his INEOS team leader, Tom Pidcock. He's been getting lots of love - and thanks to everyone who has given him a shout out about the pod! Four days in at the Vuelta and it was only today where we saw a relatively drama-free day. We've had biblical weather, organisation chaos, high-profile crashes, and a big GC battle already. G lost a bit of time on the race's first mountain stage yesterday, but he's remaining optimistic - and he's got cheerleader Luke in his corner. The boys caught up on the action over the last few days and look ahead at what's to come. Some big mountains, probably. It is the Vuelta, after all. Well, that was an unexpected start to the Vuelta. With the clouds rolling in and torrential rain falling, the teams had to battle the conditions and even daylight to get through the opening team time trial. Sadly for INEOS (and for the pod) De Pluski was an early casualty, crashing and leaving the race on day one. G's gutted, and pays tribute to the ambassador on tonight's pod. But G stayed upright and - considering the conditions - INEOS came through with a solid time. Luke watched all the action from Germany and joined G to reflect on a crazy day one. Hola! The final Grand Tour of the year is very nearly here - and G's arrived in Barcelona ready to give it his best shot. Luke's change of plan sees him in Germany, dealing with naked blokes in the race hotel sauna and local church bells. That'll make sense after you've listened to tonight's big Vuelta preview. Bit of disappointing news this week on Watts Occurring, as G's off to race the Vuelta without Luke alongside him. The boys run through the lineup and Luke reveals why he won't be in Spain with typical honesty. G will still have seven weapons alongside him though, as he targets his second Grand Tour of the season for the first time in many years. Currently up at altitude in Isola, you all know he'll give it his best shot. Luke's set to race in Germany and we'll still be bringing you plenty of Vuelta pods across August and September. The boys are back and - just about - recovered from the Glasgow world championships. Luke tackled the brutal road race and G took on the long time trial, won by our pre-worlds guest Remco Evenepoel (yes, the little b*stard). Luke's got a cracking story about the protest that stopped the men's road race for around 40 minutes, while G let slip that he considering retiring when he was caught by Remco. Turns out G was still putting in a good ride, Remco had just gone into alien mode. Now prep ramps up for the Vuelta, which the boys will both be off to next week - all being well. Oh, Remco. Watts Occurring son? He's the name on everyone's lips for this Sunday's men's road race world championships in Glasgow, so G gave him a call and got everyone's favourite "little b*stard" on the pod. The cycling world was rocked last week with the tragic death of Swiss cyclist Gino Mader. Mader crashed during stage five of the Tour de Suisse and passed away early on Friday. Luke and Geraint pay their tribute to the 26-year-old. Luke’s also been back racing himself at Route d’Occitanie and while he was away, he grabbed 19-year-old Welsh sensation Josh Tarling for a typical Watts Occurring hotel room chat. G's back from the Giro - and he's run out of clean boxers. Yes, it's back to reality for our Giro podium finisher, although he's been making the most of his time off the bike with plenty of family time and a few beers. And Luke's taking the opportunity to give him a hard time on their training rides back at home in Monaco. He's prepping for his next race - Route d'Occitanie - and the pair are both eyeing up a gnarly British nationals course, which they'll be tackling in June. G’s home from Rome and checked in to give Luke a quick download on an incredibly emotional weekend, which saw him pipped to the pink jersey by Primoz Roglic. What a three weeks it's been, and G even had time to give his old friend Mark Cavendish a hand in winning the final stage! Luke’s been lapping it all up at home, but there’s already talk that we might see the pair of them at the Vuelta in August… Thanks to all of our listeners for the overwhelming support across May. Geraint has pulled a blinder for the first guest of season 3. Superstar Remco Evenepoel joins the GTCC to do his first ever podcast and chats big wins, crashes and his early football career. The GTCC is back for season 3. And for the first time ever, Geraint and Tom are podding in person! Tom flies over to Monaco to see Geraint in his favourite drinking spot, before taking on some epic GTCC challenges. We also do a deep dive into the Commonwealth Games including that 'slip' in the TT, G's fun trip up Alpe d'Huez with Eif and we review a huge summer of cycling for some of our GTCC alumni.
