Dutch Rotterdam-based hardcore techno DJ, mastering-engineer, producer and promoter active since 1998.
Exploiting all electronic boundaries, Stefan ZMK travels the world to promote his mindbending, uplifting, sonic stories. Expect sets without compromise, that will send shivers through any rave die-hard. Stefan ZMK is a true guru in sound and a man of 100% dedication to alternative electronic music. A swift ninja, who always delivers a highly skilled trip to the Core of the Underground.
A notorious DJ, collector and producer since 1998, he has played a major role in the dutch Free Party scene with his crew: ZMK soundsystem. Their unique blend of tekno, hardtek and hardcore instantly spread across Europe, through their vinyl label and various sublabels. From 2010 Stefan ZMK started to release his tracks on various labels like Obs.Cur, Peur Bleue, Mackitek, Hangar, Hit ’n Run, etc. With tracks like Summoned, Predator and Surrender, he has made a firm mark on the rising acidtekno and acidcore scene. Those sought-after records are a fresh combination of acidic, mental and industrial sounds, with the fierce impact of tekno and hardcore. His unique sound and insane cross-genre mixing skills has taken him all over Europe, even playing loads of major events like Dominator, Q-base, Elements Mountain Festival, Retro Acid, DefQon, Lost Theory, Bangface, PRSPCT XL, Winter Conspiracy, X-live, Foorcore, Acidelics etc.
Over the years, he has gained the reputation for smoothly switching between contrasting styles, using obscure elements, turntablism, custom remixes and the freshest beats available. And with over 22 years of experience, he is considered to be, one of the most booked dutch DJs of the free-party movement.

This is the recording of my 146 minute set, as played at the Impersonal Party @ Agora Club, Valencia Spain last weekend. It was an honour for me to play there, as Somatic Responses and KRTM were the headliners. Somatics have introduced me into the true dark underground core around 1999, and one of my first records were the I.S.T. 16 and the Future Galactic 5. KRTM is for me, one of the current avant garde with the no compromise hybrid sound! So quite humbling for me to do an extended set to close such a night! It's around 2010 that I was looking for a way to make one of my favorite Aphex Twin tracks "Vordhosbn" from the awesome album Drukqs, more playable for my dj-sets. First I made an extended edit from the original, but that still did not seem quite enough to incorporate it into the rather loud sets I was playing at the time :) So I thought it might be a good idea to mash up that extended version with all sorts of kickdrum orientated passages of some of my favorite (early) hardcore and industrial tracks! I even included a part of my own track "Drumfetish", a track i had just finished at that time. Enjoy! p.s. can you guess the tracks I used for this?

This set was recorded on March 23rd 2018 at the Acid City 011 Party at the TBA club in Dresden Germany. You can expect almost 2 hours of acid, mental and energetic techno and tekno, but also some influences from rave, industrial and electro. The set roughly goes from 135 to 150 BPM. I had a really good time playing this music to such an openminded crowd; Thank you Dresden and the TBA / Tekknikal-Nonsense crew for the quality time and awesome hospitality! Today i heard of the sudden passing of one of the most inspirational artists, when it comes to putting emotion into hard electronic music: Zenith a.k.a. Federico Franchi R.I.P. "Streets of Avalon" from 1996, was one of those game changing tracks, that also became the soundtrack to a lot of personal moments for me and the people around me. Actually to such a degree, that around 2010 i decided to make an alternate version or mashup. For this I used the already amazing track "Soul Cannibal" by UK magician: Dolphin. It's a sad day, but i am grateful we have so many lovely music to remember him by.

Check out the set i played at Dominator Festival 2017, Hong Kong Violence stage! (tracklist below) Actually, there is a story behind the selection of this set. When i started my record collection around 1998, i bought my first +200 BPM records from Akira, who was working at a recordshop (mainly selling trance/house/techno), but was selling these rough ep's more or less from under the counter hahaha. So i decided part of this set would a tribute to that period, late 90's fast, industrial and mental hardcore, mainly rare french and UK tunes! These tunes remain a big inspiration for me. Big thanks to the man Akira, for hosting a platform for me to play such a set, arriving full circle after almost 19 years! And ofcourse playing at such a massive festival as Dominator was fucking awesome, and having so many old and new friends supporting me through the entire set completed the epic experience!

Big thanks to the crews @ SOK PDK DDM & Exit23! I loved playing my B-day set at your smashing stage @ the Kamikaze weekender in France! It was great to be back in France! Sunshine (but also impressive thunderstorms), a killer soundsystem, a lovely party crew and a great mix of ravers, this weekend had all the right ingredients!
