There comes a time in your life where you will enter a new environment where you may feel like you don’t belong. Being from a community and school where the population is majority African American, going off to a college where it was the total opposite made Marcus feel like he didn’t belong. Colby-Sawyer College is a small, private liberal arts school where Marcus received a full ride scholarship. It’s about 70 percent white and only about 5 percent African American. Being an African American boy, there were many times when Marcus felt like he didn’t belong and there were times where issues occurred at school.
On this week’s episode we’re talking all about music… specifically Chicago musicians. Chicago is home to lots of talented young musicians and Trending Rex and Tess Considine are just two examples of the diamonds that we found. Trending Rex and Tess Considine both stopped by WBEZ to promote the Bitter Jester Battle of the Bands and to perform some of their songs. We spoke with them at length about the their musical backgrounds, their future, and preparing for performances.
