Isaiah paints God's picture of how future judgement demonstrates His justice mercy and restoration regarding the people of Israel.
In this passage, we see nation after nation judged for their failure to heed God's warnings and for opposition and rebellion against God. We encounter one of the great themes in both the book of Isaiah and the Bible: resistance and rebellion against God result in judgment. But within the prophecies and warnings are rays of hope. God is willing to save those who will repent and turn to Him. Throughout these prophecies, the Lord consistently offers the promise of salvation to all who truly turn to Him, repent of their sins, and live righteously.

God offered Daniel a glimpse at the future ? a greater understanding of His plan for the nation of Israel and the Church. As we have already seen packed into Daniel chapters 1-3, God's sovereignty continues to be evident, specifically in the areas of time, the kindgoms of men, the Heavens and the people of the earth. When the king's pride rears its head, Daniel warns him of the coming discipline. The king prior to God?s discipline is filled with pride but we find afterward a humility and holiness that is not only attractive, but brings glory to God and rest to the king. The same is true for us if we will receive His discipline, repent of our pride and rejoice in the holiness it brings us.
Sometimes at the top of our game the greatest trials occur. It's at these times we can learn that no matter the outcome, we can trust Jesus to be with us through the fire.
