Wealth and Tax Planning Support Unaiz H. Bawa, CPA, CA Wealth and Tax Planning Consultant
Unaiz comes to his role as a Wealth and Tax Planning Consultant with experience from several national public-practice accounting firms where he primarily helped owner-managed private corporations. This included succession and estate planning, corporate reorganizations and the filing of income tax returns.
Outside of the profession, Unaiz enjoys scuba diving, skiing, hunting, traveling, literature and music. He actively gives back to the community by volunteering with various charities and has previously served as the Treasurer on the Board of Directors for various non-profit organizations. He has also previously served as an officer in the Army Reserve of the Canadian Forces.
Unaiz graduated from the University of Calgary’s Haskayne School of Business, with a Bachelor of Commerce in Accountancy, in 2011. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2014 and completed CPA Canada’s In-Depth Tax Course in 2017.

Dwayne is an author of a number of books on finance, Financial Peace of Mind and Financial Independence. He had a great answer when we asked him why businesses and professionals would be interested in this process.
I'm glad you asked that question. The biggest issue with business owners is cash flow and access to cash. And when you need cash in a business, that's typically when the banks won't give it to you because there's, you know, cash flow unbalanced or whatnot. By creating your own pool of money in this insurance product, you will get control of your banking process for the business. So you can use the money over and over and over again, without taxation and commissions and so forth. So it's critically important to take control of the banking process

Mr. Nash is going to be in Edmonton. It'll be the first time he's been in Canada. This was recorded back in 2013, when Nelson made his debut in Canada. Glen Zacher and McGuire Financial team - invited Nelson to speak at our 2013 SuperConference, in Edmonton Alberta.
It all has to do with the way that they think. And that is explained very deeply in my second book, building up the wealth that people just don't take. And they have been led down a primrose path by bankers into the entire world is in the worst condition financially that it's ever been. And it is because the banking function has been taken over by bankers. Those international bankers inflate the money supply. People think they have something, and they don't, it's all an illusion. So, a life insurance company cannot inflate. And so, you have got to store your wealth somewhere. And the best place to store it is with free contract with other free people.
Why is that? How does that work? You got to think long range. Leslie, it took me 13 years to get rid of the bankers. slow process, but my wife and I have not seen a bank, except for the convenience of a checking account in 19 years. And this is a very peaceful, stress free way of life compared to the way most folks live.
Government programs of any kind really don't make a whole lot of sense. Because in the US, the 401K's etc, are a function of the IRS code. Well, look, the IRS code in the US has only been around for nine, nine years and eight months. Now, when government creates a problem, allegedly, parenthesis on IRS taxation, right, and then turned around and grant you an exception to the problem. They created parenthesis any tax qualified plan, right? Aren't you just a little bit suspicious? You are being manipulated? Yes. All right.

She believes very strongly that the banks have far too much hold on the farming industry. And she's on a personal mission to change all of that. I really just have to prove to our farmers that there was a way that they could do this. And it wasn't just for people that were non farmers. And I would talk to them and they wouldn't believe me. So I put it in paper. And, and I put numbers in the book so they can see it in operation and see it working with the operating loan. What kind of reaction have you had?
We make time for what's important to us. But I think, too, we spend a lot of time investing, and looking up. Okay, How can we save money on a computer system? How can we save money on a tractor? How can we save money on anything we do in life, but we don't spend enough time thinking how can we can make money? How can we better utilize our money, and that's exactly what McGuire's bootcamp is going to go over. You know, I don't have anything at stake here. I don't get anything from McGuire. But I have similar stuff here in the state.
And, it's just absolutely amazing. You know we're helping people create bigger branches, we're helping people pay for equipment, we're getting those young farmers out of their 8 to 5 jobs and moving them over to the farm full time. We're figuring out how to get these young farmers to take over an operation without having to go to the bank to buy out those siblings and have to carry millions of dollars of debt when they're in their mid to late 40s.
It's not just operating, it's not just buying cars, or what have you. The system can be used for absolutely anything you do, I always say if you have money, you should be utilizing it. Farmers especially would be interested in this. They're financing at much higher rates than what a typical person is financing. Now they've got possibly a million dollar operating note every single year and the amount of interest loss of the bank is just horrendous.

I first heard about this concept back in 2006. And I looked at it, and I thought it was too good to be true. And I didn't even believe it. So I didn't do anything at all. For a couple years, when I saw a lot of my colleagues and a lot of my colleagues were telling me how this was working for them. How they were paying off their debt, you know, they were recapturing all their expenses. Just
like completely taking control of their own money, and their own wealth without having to work any harder, or change their cash flow, or give up any control whatsoever of their dollars.
I own some chiropractic offices and my wife and I were $984,711 in debt. That is what we owed to third party creditors. For my student loans, chiropractic practice, our house that we lived in, condo at the lake and a wave runner. So we had a lot of debt. And we were just kind of you know, we were paying everybody else.
You have to start paying yourself first. You know from time to time you've heard pay yourself first but the thing is, nobody ever really does it. They never pay themselves first. The thing that they do is when they get in their money.
I was able to pay off that debt in three years, in three months, a total of 39 months - never had to work any harder, change my cash flow, or take any additional risk with my money. And that's the cool thing. I'm not taking any risk at all. So it completely changed my life and that's back in 2008.

Up until then, we have always done RRSP’s and mutual funds and the typical retirement savings plans, and it was really a matter of putting deposits in and then hoping that they would grow into the future. We really did not feel like we were active participants in the process.
But since working with Glen, we are actively involved in the process and Glen is guiding us through. We feel like we have a much better sense of control of our retirement planning. I think the biggest thing is we feel empowered that we can make decisions about our finances right now.
With the financial needs, we have raising a family and a career’s, we are also preparing for that time of retirement in the future. So, it's really I think the biggest thing that the banker secret has given us as a sense of empowerment over our finances right now. It's allowed us to do Different things, but it's also giving us some sense of security and optimism for our retirement in the future.
Glen will show you how to build a system, not just a deposit account where you can take all the rules of banking. But I think more importantly, we all want to make money, we all want to see our money, make money. And, you know, I look back over the seven years that I have this sytems and we had consistently made gains of 7% to 10% each year.

We would like to introduce our guest today, Stephen Davidson. Steve and his family have been practicing The Bankers’ Secret – based on The Infinite Banking Concept for several years now. Steve attended McGuire Financials first Super conference way back in 2013, where Nelson Nash was the keynote speaker.
I got through, all the investigation, and let's just say all the reading material, the system proves solid. As I expanded it, this is where having it available makes a definite difference in the family’s life.
When times get tight, or an opportunity expresses itself, I've used the system to do different things where rather than being beholden to an external bank, I am able to use my own personal bank.
The cowboy proverb comes to mind that says, you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink. And I think in the early days, when you're trying to digest it, it's a lot and as you've probably well aware, a lot of people don't take nonstop finances, classes, and elementary, high school or university, that is why its so important to have a coach.

I discovered “Becoming Your Own Banker” about 12 years ago. And I have been using it and training the process to our advisors over that span of time. It is actually an old concept that's, you know, becoming more popular these days because of Nelson Nash.
A lot of people today are unaware of the power of permanent whole life, life insurance and the guarantees associated with it. And they have, in the last year, discovered this even though people in the mutual fund companies, which are selling whole life these days, because of those guarantees, and that's stability factor.
Life insurance contract in itself is probably the most successful financial instrument ever created. Because you can't lose your money you can't slip backwards. You can only get the positive compounding rates of return. Those rates of return change every year depending upon the dividend. They make, but Never been negative, they've never been zero. You can't lose your money. And you can count on it to be there when you need it most.

I always related to my own experience, when I want to seek out a specialist, like a doctor for surgery or a dentist to have a root canal performed, I want to make sure they have lots of letters after their name.
So you need to have a specialist not only should your financial planner at least have their CFP or certified financial planners' designation, but they need to belong to an accredited Financial Planning Association, like Abacus
Too, often people are putting themselves out as a financial planner, and they do not have their designations and that's going to change as governments across Canada are now starting to regulate the financial planning industry

It is a process- you have to spend some time with, its only common sense. The lifecycle of financing:
· for the first 20 years you are dependent on your parents for financing
· 20-30 you will have student loans, first car, etc
· 30-40 wedding, honeymoon, bigger car, furniture
· 40-50 bigger house, bigger mortgage, children needs
· 50-60 more wedding, colleges for children and grandchildren
· 60+ plan for retirement

All of a sudden you see that this could grow, and they talked about dividend paying as well and Kevin O'Leary has a book out, writing some of his principles in investing, and he talks about that you don’t want to invest in anything that doesn't pay a dividend.
There is really a change in your thinking when you get into this process of being your own banker. I mean, at first I thought it just sounded ridiculous how can you have the reserves to open your own bank, knowing my own reserves, and they talked about the participating dividend paying whole life insurance policy and you've come to realize you're not the only one paying into this, that there are other people doing this so there's a good reserve there.
