As many of you may know, a big part of my path to parenthood involved many rounds of IVF cycles. Back then we really didn’t know much about what was happening with our embryos and just blindly trusted that the miracle workers in the lab of our reproductive center knew best. These days, we’re so lucky to have people like this episode's guest who is helping thousands of people learn about the ins and outs of their embryos.
Alease Daniel Barnes graduated from North Carolina State University in 2018 with a degree in Genetics and a minor in Biotechnology. While at NCSU, she developed a passion for reproductive health, women’s health and comprehensive sex education, but wasn’t sure how that would translate into a career. Her degrees gave her great lab experience and she wanted to utilize that while also working with patients.
Alease went into the field right after graduation and over the years, she realized just how little information there is on what actually goes on behind the scenes in the lab. She then decided to create her Instagram and Tiktok, and it’s grown into a great way to educate patients. Infertility is not an easy journey and she believes understanding what happens in the lab can help give patients peace of mind during their treatment.
Her pages have now grown to over 170k followers and have been featured on Buzzfeed, Good Morning America, mom.com and more.

In the first ten minutes of this episode, we will discuss the reason you should ditch making a new year's resolution and instead set an intention. I'll go over the differences and then talk a bit about what to do with thoughts that happen while you meditate. In this fertility episode, I chat with Dr. Aimee Eyvazzadeh. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, and host of the Egg Whisperer Show, Dr. Aimee has heard story after story from women and couples from all over the world about their struggles in trying to conceive. In her attempt to prevent more of these heartbreaking stories, she has gone on a mission to promote “fertility awareness”. Her hope is to empower women, making them more aware of their personal fertility levels and allowing them to be better educated about their options. Never again does she want to hear “If I had known 10 years ago that my egg reserves were running low, I would have done things differently”.
In 2014, she launched her mission by hosting “Egg Freezing Parties”. These parties offer women a chance to learn more about their fertility and ask their questions in a comfortable, safe environment with like-minded women.
Dr. Aimee is a native of the Bay Area, and a graduate of UCLA School of Medicine. After completing her residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School, she completed a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility at University of Michigan. She also completed a Masters in Public Health in Health Management and Policy at University of Michigan. Her practice is located in San Ramon, California.

To help me in this candid conversation about the ins and outs of surrogacy, I asked my best friend, Nubia, to join me again to talk about this personal moment in my life. To pick up where we last left off in my story, we had gone through many rounds of IVF, experienced several miscarriages plus our second trimester loss of twins, ultimately went on to international adoption of our first son from Kazakhstan and then tried IVF one more time which led to me carrying another set of twins this time to term. We wanted to grow our family but carrying another pregnancy was not feasible for us. Tune in to this episode to hear the entire process of surrogacy from the moment we made the decision to pursue this path to the successful birth of our twin boys.

Find out how this podcast will evoke inspiration and provide you with support with each episode.
In this episode, I am joined by my friend, Izzy, to discuss disordered eating and mental wellbeing. I share how my unresolved trauma from years of trying to conceive and subsequent miscarriages eventually manifested into bulimia a few years after having children. I asked Izzy to share in this discussion with me because she is a fitness instructor, trainer and a body image and mindset coach who works with women to overcome their body-shaming habits to reclaim their confidence, overcome disordered eating, and work through body dysmorphia.
Izzy got into fitness as an outlet for her mental health and the desire to get stronger and work through her own battle with body dysmorphia. As her journey evolved, she realized the close tie to the work she was doing in fitness and the bigger picture work she wanted to focus on – helping women feel more confident, empowered, and comfortable having real, raw conversations around our everyday struggles and mental health. That is when the BodyLoveSoul Method was born. Izzy also runs a passion project called Wildflower Project which is an initiative to help women come together to talk about mental health and our everyday struggles.
