We get into overconsumption and ways to try and combat that. We talk about an addiciton to shopping, especially when we're pushed so many products by influencers, and how to try and control spending. More importantly we spend the majority of this episode talking about ways to get into exercise and fitness and practical steps for figuring out the type of exercise you actually enjoy. We've both gone through phases where we don't really enjoy fitness, so we're talking about our personal journeys to get to a place where we do and all of the benefits that come along with that. We're concluding with a ~brand new segment~ so stick around to see what that's all about!

On this episode we're sitting down with new author Kyleigh Leddy to hear about her journey publishing a book at 23, as well as advocating for her sister. Kyleigh won the Modern Love college essay contest which prompted her memoir's publishing. She gives us tips on the writing process, where she gathers her inspiration, and why the world needs more voices. We dive into the story surrounding her book, The Perfect Other, which she describes as a love letter to her sister, Kait. The memoir is a first hand account of who Kait was before, in the midst of, and following her diagnosis of schizophrenia. Kyleigh explores what she believes caused it, as well as an account of how it affected her family and home life. We hear about what Kait struggled with while also getting to know who she was as a person. The latter half of the book dives into moving through grief and why we need to approach mental health struggles with more empathy.

On this episode we’re giving you all the key points from the first part of The Defining Decade: spoiler alert you’re not alone in what you’re feeling. Topics that we cover are: everyone is much lonelier than you think, whether you should be hustling in your 20s vs saving it for your 30s, comparison to others on social media and feeling like you’re behind, the importance of close friends, and why identity capital is necessary. We’re also including a healthy dose of identity crisis.

If you’ve heard of The Defining Decade and haven’t gotten around to reading it, or are wondering if other 20somethings are feeling the way you do, this one’s for you!

correction: we meant the Smoky Mountains, not the Rockies. We‘re smarter than this

41. In this episode we take some advice from our friend, the one and only, Taylor Swift. Her advice is some of the most insightful stuff we've ever heard. We do a deep dive into what it means to enjoy your 20s without dating someone, the importance of figuring out who you are, and why life is still surprising and wonderful without having a romantic partner. We also share different ways we romanticize our mundane daily lives and laugh way too much telling stories about being a main character. Also there's a brief discussion on how certain fictional characters definitely form your personality growing up.

If you're struggling to make your life special when you don't have a romantic partner, or if you already love being a main character and want to romanticize your life, then this one's for you!

40: "Jeremy's life reads like a movie script." That's how we knew we just had to have Jeremy as this week's guest. He quit school at 16 to pursue a music career, became Larry the Cable Guy's touring manager, and worked for various radio stations all in his twenties. He currently owns a successful country bar where various artists perform, and lives in Nashville when he's not touring around America performing his music. Jeremy tells us his life's story, successes as a musician and tour manager (along with his own tips for success), and why you should always schedule some suffering into your morning routine.

If you're curious about life touring around America, looking for stoicism practices throughout your day, and need advice on why you should never quit in your 20s when you want something, this episode's for you.
