DayBreak Church exists to share the story of God with people so people can belong to the story of God. We long to help people know God, find Freedom, discover their purpose, and make much of Jesus in everything they do.
What we see with our eyes & know with our minds will always be overcome by what we believe & make with our hearts. In this sermon pastor Brit helps us look at the importance keeping our eyes focused on God at all times.
As Jesus was calling his followers he was building a community around commitment to His Father, His Kingdom, His Mission. He calls us to community, not chemistry, not connectivity, not competency, but full commitment to His community.
“You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those in high positions act as tyrants over them. It must not be like that among you. On the contrary, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must be your slave; just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." ~ Matthew 20.25-28
In this Podcast Pastor Brit talks about how the practice of being attentive to Gods voice and leading helps us draw closer to God. In a world that is constantly competing for our attention, God demands and is deserving of our complete attention and affection.
In our me-focused culture, we are called by God to surrender to his authority and let go of the worldly things that beg for our attention. We are called to take up our cross and deny ourselves. It’s by God’s grace that through relinquishment, we are drawn closer to him. As we are drawn closer to him, we discover our true self. To relinquish the false self we practice confession and self-examination. We confess our sins, falling short of God's standards and repent, to our heart-mind-soul-life towards the way God would have us go. We also must grow in taking time to examine our life, where we are in need of growing, burn out, false worship, sin and so on. A great scriptural gift of this is found in Psalm 51 as King David navigates confession, repentance and worship!
But now, apart from the law, the righteousness of God has been revealed, attested by the Law and the Prophets. The righteousness of God is through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe, since there is no distinction. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. They are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. God presented him as an atoning sacrifice in his blood, received through faith, to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his restraint God passed over the sins previously committed. God presented him to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so that he would be righteous and declare righteous the one who has faith in Jesus. ~ Romans 5
Psalm 57.11 - God, be exalted above the heavens; let your glory be over the whole earth.
We wrap our series that is driving our focus for this year as a church. We long to see and be a part of making known the grace, gospel and goodness of God. To exalt Him high above the heavens, and to see His glory be over the whole earth. As the prophet Habakkuk declared in chapter 3 "Lord, I have heard the report about you; Lord, I stand in awe of your deeds. Revive your work in these years; make it known in these years. In your wrath remember mercy", we to want to stand in awe, see God's work revived in our days, and watch God make it known among us!
I will praise you, Lord, among the peoples; I will sing praises to you among the nations. For your faithful love is as high as the heavens;
your faithfulness reaches the clouds. ~ Psalm 57.9-10
In part 3 of Awake the Dawn, Pastor Brit shares with us that the life of a follower of Jesus is a life on mission, not a life waiting in intermission. As a Church we long to share the Story of God with people, so that people can belong to the Story of God. This verse "among the peoples" echo's this cry.
Join us as we look at a part of David's life, being chased by king Saul. In what looks like a life in shambles, a purpose not being fulfilled, David never loose sight of what God had spoken to him. David was made on purpose for a purpose and David was going to keep pushing to see God's glory.
As we begin the new year, Pastor Brit sets vision for us as we long to see true revival take place in our souls and renewal in our city. This in part will only happen as we seek the presence of God in our life, in our families, our church and our city. This series we are looking at Psalm 57 and the declarative intent of King David to press after the glory of God despite the hindrances around him.
We are called by God to receive grace and mercy and then to be bearers and sharers of this amazing news of King Jesus.
Luke 2:13-15 Suddenly there was a multitude of the heavenly host with the angel, praising God and saying: Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and peace on earth to people he favors! When the angels had left them and returned to heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go straight to Bethlehem and see what has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.”
We took this Sunday to gather around God's word and worship in response to His mighty name
Each of us is faced with either following Jesus in his way, which leads to life, or following the world, which will leave us always wanting and ultimately to ruin. Choose wisely
What are you asking for in your prayers? Do they center only around you? Or do your prayers lead you to seeking the kingdom more? Can we grow from simply consuming the goodness of the Gospel to contending for the Gospel in the life of our city?
Therefore I tell you: Don’t worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food and the body more than clothing? Consider the birds of the sky
We celebrate what God has done over the last five years as a church and in looking at the Sermon on the Mount we look forward to growing with Jesus as our treasure in all things!
The key to a joyful, powerful and faithful makarios life found in Jesus is one found in continual focus, feasting, fellowship and functioning out of our intimacy with God in His presence. Fasting is one way to help us grow in denying our self and delighting more in Him.
