Writer, write even when it is difficult.

Even if you’re facing difficult circumstances and challenges in your life right now.

Write.

There will never be a moment in life when there isn’t some kind of challenge to overcome.

And there will never be a moment when it’s easier to write than it is to make an excuse.

But you have been called to rise up and share your testimony with those who are looking for it.

Your story is needed.

So write even when it is difficult.

And allow your weakness to be made perfect in the One who is calling you to a greater purpose.

Join Nika in this episode as she sits down with Beth Bubik to discuss her journey to authorship, how her faith helped her discover the worth within waiting, and how letting go of perfection was the key to finding success.

This interview is sure to be an inspiration for anyone being called to authorship but struggle to know that their story is worth telling!

About Beth:

Beth Bubik is a wife, mother, and wellness coach who helps women permanently lose weight through the lens of spiritual fasting.

She believes in the power of giving up a little for a short time in order to achieve something bigger in the long term.

And by delaying gratification and letting go of the idea of “being perfect,” we can pursue the Lord’s purpose for our lives with passion and clarity.

You can overcome any obstacle to write your book!

When you trust in the Lord’s strength rather than your own, you can overcome any obstacle standing in your way.

No matter how big, no matter how messy, no matter how insurmountable it may seem.

The Lord is always with us to help us overcome.

And that’s just what Abigail Brown has discovered along her journey of living with dystonia.

Since the age of three, Abigail has lived with a disability that has made the most simple tasks almost impossible.

But her biggest obstacles were no match for the Lord’s calling on her life to share her story with others.

Persevering through physical limitations, negative self-talk, and overwhelming doubt, Abigail was determined to share the love of Jesus and spread hope through the lessons she’s learned throughout her journey.

Join Nika as she sits down with Abigail to hear her incredible testimony of strength, resilience, hope, and a Savior whose power is always made perfect in weakness.

May this episode inspire you to see the Lord’s presence in your own life and how He helps you to overcome any obstacle!

Write your book as an offering to the Lord and let His glory shine through you!

As authors, we tend to put a lot of pressure on ourselves to tell our stories.

But taking the focus off ourselves and our own abilities creates space for the Spirit to move through our efforts.

Giving Him room to move takes the pressure off of us to make it “perfect.”

Writer, it’s not about what you can do but what He can do through you.

Instead of hiding from the Lord’s calling because of our shortcomings, let us use our gifts to honor Him.

Join me in this episode as I sit down with Nina Landis to chat about writing as an offering to God and how we can use our books to not only touch the lives of others but bring Jesus His greatest reward!

About Nina:

Nina Landis is a worship leader, pastor, and mother of four who always knew she was meant to write a book but spent most of her life resisting it.

She found herself stuck in a cycle of fear, overwhelm, and resistance that stopped her from leaning into the Lord’s calling on her life.

But when she finally chose to step into obedience and surrender, she discovered that what she had been running from all that time ended up becoming her greatest act of worship.

Let this episode encourage and inspire you to step out of your comfort zone and into obedience!

Make it easy.

Don’t worry about all of the moving pieces or the details of how it’s going to work.

Instead, focus on the lesson and the message you are being led to share with others.

Don’t make it more complicated than it needs to be.

Instead, think about how you can make it as easy and as simple for yourself as possible.

The rest will come later as you slowly begin to build your channel and your income.

Simply start where you’re at with what you have and then worry about adding in the extras later.

Just don’t keep waiting to share the message you’re being called to share!

As a new creator, it’s easy to believe that your content needs to be complicated to be valuable.

But the truth is, the more complicated the content is, the more distracting it becomes.

And when you’re just starting out, it’s okay to keep things simple and make your message short and sweet.

The true value lies in the power of the message you are being called to share.

Not in the actual content itself.

So come join Nika in this episode as she continues her series, “What I Wish I Could Tell Myself,” and be encouraged through her insights and critiques of the very first videos she ever published.

Not only will you get to hear Nika’s helpful tips on how to create impactful media, you’ll also be blessed by an important message that resonates even today.

Bill Gothard was a notable Christian minister, speaker, and writer who developed a Bible-based teaching program in the 1970’s.

He took his platform right around the same time that American culture was experiencing major changes in freedom and expression.

Though Bill never married or had children, he founded a curriculum and organization called the “Institute in Basic Life Principles.”

This curriculum centered heavily around character building skills for children and on living a godly lifestyle.

Bill’s curriculum and teachings seemed Biblically sound and, honestly, pretty great!

So what happened?

How did it all start to go so wrong?

Join Nika in this episode as she discusses the life, work, and downfall of Bill Gothard and what important lessons we can learn from it all so we can avoid making the same mistakes.

Join Nika in this episode as she discusses the importance and power of our words, and how we can use them to give life to others even when it’s difficult or feels impossible.

Are you stuck in setting goals for your writing project?

Setting goals doesn’t feel so difficult when we understand the purpose and point of it all.

Goals guide us along our journey towards the ultimate destination.

Not take us in a completely different direction.

But without a direction to go in, we wander aimlessly while search for the path we are meant to walk down.

So when we sit down to draw the map, it’s important to first ask four essential questions that will guide us in determining where to go.

Join Nika in this episode as she discusses why setting goals is so important, how to set ones that align with your life, and what four essential questions you should always ask before starting!

The power of words is stronger than almost any weapon there is.

Our words can either create life or destroy it.

And the seeds we plant from the words we use in our lives will be the harvest that we reap up in the end.

So if we aren’t careful, we will be reaping a harvest of death and destruction when we were expecting a harvest of abundance.

Join Nika in the conversation about the power of words as she adds onto her series of “unpopular opinions” and shares her heart on why choosing our words carefully is so important for not only ourselves but those we interact with as well.

Bible characters are people, too.

As a writer and speaker, your vocabulary is critical when trying to connect with your audience.

It determines whether your message lands appropriately or whether it completely misses the mark.

One term that is often misused, especially when referring to Biblical or historical figures, is the word “character.”

A “character” is a figment of the author’s imagination; something or someone who is made up or exists only in the imagination.

So why would we use that term to describe real people who walked this earth?

In this latest installment of Nika’s “Unpopular Opinions” series, Nika dives into the importance of honoring the men and women who sacrificed so much to live for Christ.

By the end of this episode, you’ll be re-thinking your own vocabulary in a way that places compassion and respect at the center.

Is it the Law of Measurement or is it karma?

The concept of karma has been a generally accepted truth in the world for quite some time. It has become popularized through the media, music, TV, and more.

The idea that “what goes around comes around” or that we get back what we give to others is, in fact, true.

However, the concept of karma, rooted in the idea of reincarnation, is simply a counterfeit of God’s truth.

The Law of Measurement tells us that what we give, we will receive back. But it doesn’t always mean we will receive it the way we expected.

Join Nika as she takes a deep dive into the concept of karma, its origins, the distractions of counterfeit, and the truth of God’s Word!

It’s a “universal” truth that people-pleasing is wrong and that being a people-pleaser is toxic to one’s mental and emotional health.

But is it really?

This may be an unpopular opinion, but people-pleasing is not only a good thing, it’s actually beautiful!

As humans, we have embedded within us a desire to please others because God desires to delight and please us.

Using our talents and gifts to bless others is an act of people-pleasing because that blessing is a pleasure to the receiver.

In fact, when we make it a goal to people-please, we actually please God through our efforts.

And, friend, He is the best One to please!

Setting truth milestones for yourself along your writing journey is like setting guideposts along a 10-mile hike.

They will tell you how far you have left to go and how far you’ve come at the same time.

But you have to know where you’re going and when you’d like to arrive before you can begin setting those milestones into place.

What do you do when God says “no” to your hopes and dreams?

You see, God isn’t necessarily saying “no” to you. He’s training you up in the way you should go!

This limiting belief is sneaky!

Many new authors get caught up by this one simple phrase: It won’t make a difference.

This one is tricky because it keeps you from making progress on your goals while making you think you’re not missing anything important.

The smallest actions are the ones that often make the biggest difference, and this thought will make you miss it while keeping you stuck in inaction.

You may think, “it won’t make a difference,” but that one choice could make you miss out on an opportunity that takes you three steps ahead.

Don’t let this limiting belief fool you!

Use my top three tactics for confronting unhelpful thoughts and break through those outer limits that keep holding you back.

You have the power to choose how you view failure.

You can choose to view it as a source of shame, frustration, and disappointment.

Or you can choose to view it as an opportunity for growth, refinement, and grace.

Here’s the thing: Jesus is turning your misery into mastery.

He is prompting you to trust Him and follow Him into the zone of discomfort so that it can become your zone of comfort.

And if you choose to follow Him into those outer areas, the positive net effect of failure will bless you more than you could have thought possible.

There are two main reasons why many authors don’t write a book outline before they start their project: they simply don’t know how or they don’t want to because it feels too restrictive. The problem is, a good book outline organizes your thoughts and makes your topic easier to write about! Without one, your reader...

As writers, we often tend to overthink the process of writing a book.

We like to have things neat and tidy, having the entire outline and storyline mapped out and organized.

Or we can tend to feel like a complete mess because the project feels too big and we have no idea where to start.

Friend, it’s time to simplify the process.

In this week’s episode, we learn all about how "Keep Writing" student, Holly Compton wrote her entire book, front to back, in just six weeks!

She did this by following a simple 3-step process that we teach inside of the Anointed Writers program.

Having loved writing ever since she was a child, Holly mainly focused on poetry with the hopes of writing a book one day, but never knowing what that might look like.

She spent years holding the idea of a book within her missionary’s heart and dreamed of sharing the message that God had planted in her. She just didn’t know how to start.

Early in January 2022, Holly came across an ad for the "Keep Writing" course and knew it was exactly what she needed!

Combining the guidance she received in the course with the guidance and anointing she received from the Lord, Holly was able to finish her book and begin her journey to publication!

Come join us as we discuss:
  • Why creating an outline is crucial to writing your book
  • The differences between self-publishing and traditional publishing
  • The 3 simple steps to writing any book
  • Trusting God to lead you on your writing journey
  • What to do when the journey doesn’t look like you thought it would
  • How surrendering and obeying are the keys to experiencing God’s blessing
  • How valuable it is to have a community and a coach to lean on for support

For all the teachers that are making their way back to the classrooms and welcoming new students on campus this year, take a few moments to be encouraged.

In this episode, Nika reads an excerpt from her daily devotional book for educators and administrators entitled “Keep Teaching,” in the hopes that you’ll turn to these messages of encouragement and faith throughout the school year.

Coming straight from the heart of a teacher, Nika shares about the insights and lessons she learned from the Lord during her time teaching in the public school system, and uses those experiences to bless the hearts of other teachers.

Whether you’re about to enter into a tough teacher-parent conference, dealing with a difficult concept to teach on, or just want to prepare for your day, you’re invited to spend some quiet time with God and draw strength and refreshment through these quick messages.

Let the Word of God soak through your life and into your heart.

Read His Word out loud, proclaim it with your mouth, and let your ears hear what your heart believes.

Come sit in the presence of the Lord as Nika shares five messages from her book, including:
  • What to do when you feel like God doesn’t hear you
  • Allowing God to guide your words
  • Giving encouragement to your students, even when you don’t have much to give
  • Letting God’s Word bloom in your heart when it’s meant to
  • Caring for your health and focusing on healthy habits

We hope you will be encouraged today and… Keep Teaching!

Verses referenced: 1 John 4:16; Matthew 10: 19-20; Ephesians 4:29; James 1:21; 1 Corinthians 9:24

If you’d like to buy a copy of Nika’s devotional to have in your classroom, your home, your car, or wherever else you may need a dose of encouragement, you can buy it at https://shop.nikamaples.com/products/signed-copy-of-keep-teaching, or wherever you buy your books online!
