I have been interested in the vodou, santeria, Candomble practices but haven’t done much about it outside of shopping at stores or watching YouTube videos. I am considered a senior by institutional definitions. Would I be considered too old to become involved in a “house” as you refer to it? Can one continue to practice their main religion and African/Cuban/Brazilian based religion (I am of African descent)? Is it considered a religion? Lorna asks “How do you know if you are dealing with a true babalawo or a fraudulent one online?”
Latoya writes “A chief priest from West Africa that I have been working with the past few weeks for love work has been threatening my life and well being everytime I tell him that I cannot afford to keep sending him money. He is hounding me and using different numbers preventing me from blocking him. When I have blocked him he threatened me and said unblock me now or harm will come to you and your family. As soon as I unblocked him, the threats would stop. I told him that I did not wish to work with him anymore due to the loss of money causing me to be delinquent, and because the package he says he sent never arrived. As soon as I told him that, he said that I was going to die and he needed to do more work to prevent it for my sake. Even though I have already told him that basically went broke . I really don’t know what to do. I feel stupid and embarrassed. What should I do?”
Sal writes “I have been chatting with this babalawo in Nigeria and I sent him money for consultation. When I asked him if he got the money he asked me which money? No work done yet. I already blocked him but my concern now is that I sent my first name, mom’s first name and my full picture. I am really worried something bad can be done with the provided information.”
